"Mrs. Crisp, you will be remanded into Custody until your Trial."
Rachel stared.
"Bailiff, remove the prisoner."
Mother looked over to her attorney.
"Shh. Don't say anything. Just take it easy. I'll take care of it. Trust me." He assured her.
The Deputy grabbed Mother.
He was guiding her through the Courtroom.
I had stood up.
"You know what to do?" Mother whispered to me.
"I'm your son, aren't I?"
She kissed me on the cheek.
Rachel stormed out.
I followed her out.
"Who now, Cullen?"
I sighed.
"I- I will not be apart of this again."
"I know."
"I will not watch you kill people either."
"I know. I want you to stay home. Be with the kids, okay?"
"You nearly got caught last time, Cullen. Stop taking these chances."
Rachel walked out.
I sighed.
I followed her.
"I'm just trying to protect you, Cullen."
"I did what I had to do to protect you. And I'd do it all over again. In a heartbeat."
"I don't know what they'll do if I don't testify."
"I don't know."
"And I know what happens to people who testify against you two."
I shook my head.
"I- I'm not gonna hurt you, okay?"
"I wish I could believe that."
"I have not given you any reason to trust me. I know that. But I will never hurt you again. Even to keep her out of Jail."
Rachel nodded her head.
I wrapped her in my arms.
Rachel broke down.
I stroked her back.
We got in the car.
I started the drive home.
