Lisa Loud: The, "Gifted", Child
Now, Lisa Loud saying she had a good night's sleep, would be a total understatement. As she had a vivid dream of how her day is going to go down. First seeing the success of her latest experiments in her lab/bedroom. Along with having her robot friend Todd by her side helping. Lastly, passing the test, her teacher Ms. Shrinivas is giving the whole kindergarten class that day. And expecting the school award for passing fifty school tests without failing. Unfortunately, Lisa is going to have a totally different day than she expects to have as she sits up in bed stretching her arms while letting out a yawn.
Lisa (Scratching her back): "Morning greetings Todd."
But there's no response, just silence.
Lisa (Turns to look): "Todd?"
But the robot is nowhere in sight. He's not even in his usual place next to her workbench, plugged into the wall charging his batteries. In fact, the workbench is not there either but replaced with a toy chest with a can on top of it. Lisa gets out of bed, goes over to the chest, and picks up the can. Where she sees there's a face drawn on it that looks similarly close to Todd's actual face. On the side, there's a word that says…
Lisa (With a raised brow): "Toad?"
And that's not the only change to her room/laboratory that Lisa noticed. All her lab equipment and inventions were replaced with a little colorful play fort you usually see in a backyard, complete with a ladder and slide. A playhouse, but there's no door. And tower of blocks.
Lisa: "What's going on here?!"
To investigate, Lisa walks out of her room, while carrying the can. Where she finds and goes up to Lana.
Lana (With a smile): "Moring Lisa." (Ruffles her sister's hair): "Sleep well?"
Lisa (Annoyed): "Forget about how I slept, Lana. Do you have any idea where Todd is? As well as what happened to my laboratory?"
Lana: "What are you talking about Lis?" (Points to the can): "Todd's right here."
Lisa (Rolls her eyes): "This is clearly not…"
But before she can finish, Lana grabs Lisa by the hand. And began to guide her back to the room, opening the door and stepping inside.
Lana: "See…your room is just the way it was last night."
Lisa: "But…"
Lola walks in…
Lola: "What's going on?"
Lana: "Lisa thinks there's something wrong with her room."
Lola: "Aww!" (Cups Lisa's cheeks): "Are the big mean monsters playing with your toys, while you sleep."
She plants a kiss on Lisa's forehead.
Lola: "But don't you worry. Your big sister, Lola, will give them a piece of my mind tonight."
Lisa: "What in the world are you talking about?!"
But once again Lisa is ignored as the twins leave her room. And Leni comes in, walks past her, and goes into the closet.
Leni: "Time to get you dressed, Lisa."
Much to Lisa's dismay, not only did Leni choose the outfit she is going to wear today. But is helping her get change, despite her claims that she can dress herself. She was changed from her pajamas to a white T-shirt with a pink overalls dress over it. Little white socks and pink sneakers with purple velcro straps on her feet. And a pink flower barrette in her hair to match the rest of her outfit. Let me tell you, she is not happy about this.
Lisa: "That is because I wouldn't pick an outfit such as…this! Throughout the years that I'm alive!"
But she got even madder when she went down for breakfast at the dining room table, where her mother brought her a bowl of cereal where the bits of cornflakes are shaped like stars and hearts. Along with a sippy cup filled with orange juice.
Lisa (Takes a few deep breaths): "Mother…may I ask: Why do I require to drink from a sippy cup?"
Rita (Boops her daughter's nose with a smile): "So you won't have any spills, sweetie."
Now it's time for the Loud kids to be taken to school. And once stepped into the family van, Lisa notices that there are…two…car-seats in there. The first one is obviously Lily's. And...she soon figures out that the second one is for her. As Luan picks her up and straps her in.
Lisa (Crosses her arms with a sour look): "I should have guessed."
Lincoln sits next to her, while Lucy sits on the other side.
Lincoln (With a smile): "Don't be grumpy Lis."
He takes out a few books from his bag.
Lincoln: "Lucy and I picked out some books for you to look through, while we ride to school."
Lisa: "Hmph!" (Takes one of the books with a smile): "Thank you brother unit." (Opens it up and starts reading): "At least someone still knows…"
But her sourness returns as she discovers that the book she was given is a picture book...with only a few small and simple words in it.
Lucy (With a goofy smile): "See that…" (Points to a picture): "That is a doggy. You know the sound a doggy makes?"
Lisa was ever so grateful to be at school at this very moment. As Ms. Shrinivas passed a copy of the test to each of her students.
Ms. Shrinivas: "Now remember class, if you get stump on a question, just skip it and go back to it later. And don't forget to show your work in the math section."
Lisa (Spinning a pencil between her fingers): "Now this is a prime opportunity for me. As I remind everyone how intelligent I am by…"
Ms. Shrinivas (With a huge frown): "…failing her fiftieth test this year alone!"
Rita and Lynn Sr.: "Gasp!"
Shortly after taking her test, Lisa now finds herself in a parent-teacher conference between her parents and her teacher. And much to the young scientist's confusion, she is completely shocked to see what the teacher is holding up for the trio to see: Her test! Where it is shown that all the answers to the questions are marked wrong, leading the total score to be a big fat zero.
Lisa: "How is that even possible! All my responses to those easy questions should be right!"
Lynn Sr. (Rubs his daughter's shoulder): "Shhh!" (Whisper): "Indoor voice sweetie, Rember?" (With a smile): "Like this."
Ms. Shrinivas: "Mister and Misses Loud…Lisa is a…very…gifted child…Don't take this the wrong way…she is very smart in her own right." (Develops a little smile): "And she has a huge imagination."
Rita (Pats her daughter on the head): "We know…"
Lisa is getting more shocked…and probably scared, as the conversation goes on.
Ms. Shrinivas (Goes back to frowning): "But she…I'm afraid…is at a slower pace when it comes to her learning. Sure she understands a little bit from here and there. But she doesn't fully get a grasp on what I'm teaching her. And it doesn't help that she gets distracted from time to time and struggles with answering her math and reading questions unless I come around to help her."
Lisa (Stands up on her chair): "This is impossible for me to believe! How can any of you people think this is the true me?! That cannot be my test! I need to find out what's…"
Unfortunately, Lisa is interrupted again when Rita pops a sippy cup in her mouth. And points to a corner of the classroom where there are a bunch of toys.
Rita (With a smile): "Why don't you go play sweetie, while the grown-ups talks?" (Turns back to the teacher): "So is there anything you can do to help our little Lisa do better in school?"
Ms. Shrinivas: "There is actually." (Takes out a pile of papers): "All you have to do is fill out these forms…" (Takes out a couple of pens): "And Lisa will be transferred to a special ed class. Where she'll be allowed to learn at her own pace. As well as get extra attention to make sure she focuses and gets all the help that she can."
When Rita and Lynn Sr. grabbed the pens, Lisa realizes what Ms. Shrinivas is actually talking about. It's not Special Ed where students are put into a class with a small number of students. And the teachers take more time to explain the lesson plans in more detail. It's SPECIAL ED.
Lisa (Completely speechless): "No…"
And that is how Lisa Loud ended up in a pre-k-like classroom with kids ranging from ages four to eleven all sitting at a big round table. Each has a special learning of the alphabet coloring book presented to them. And are allowed to use either colored pencils, crayons, or safe-washable markers to fill out the pages.
Lisa: "No…"
Ms. DiMartino, who is teaching the class, taps on the blackboard with a piece of chalk to get the kids' attention.
Ms. DiMartino (With a smile): "All right class, we'll be now going over the who alphabet. So you can be ready for your test next week."
Lisa: "No…"
Ms. DiMartino (Points to her): "Lisa? Can you start us off with the first letter?"
Lisa: "NO!"
Everything goes dark. Next is my oldest sibling, Lori. Who…probably should have waited another time to visit her sweet beloved in the big batty city…Lucky…
