Chapter 5: A Tenacious Brat and a Familiar Face
Ah, sleep. How I wish it would last forever.
They say that waking from a dream is like a slap in the face by reality. I agree with that one hundred percent.
"Hi, teacher!" A certain childish voice chimed.
Because this goddamn brat is seriously starting to annoy me! How many times do I have to tell this kid that I'm not his teacher?!
"Go away, kid." I told Sora, turning away from him as I pulled my guest bed covers over my head to block out the bothersome morning light.
"But teacher, it's breakfast time. And the onee-san wanted me to wake you up. It's pancake day!" Sora chimed.
"I'm not your teacher. Go away." I grumbled.
"But teacher, the onee-san insisted!" Sora persisted in annoying me.
I am seriously considering murdering this kid. All it would take is a simple movement to put an end to his life. Yep, just use my pillow. It will be a struggle, but it will be quick.
"We are not committing murder to a child." Ray admonished me.
I was only joking. A little bit.
I could feel Ray give me a scrutinizing glare, but I ignored it and went about starting my day, gathering my clothes and heading to the bathroom to get a quick shower.
"Don't even follow me to the bathroom…" I grumbled.
Sora pouted, "Fine, fine. But you still gotta teach me, teacher!"
"Whatever." I growled, storming into the bathroom and shutting then locking the door behind me. Once I quickly wet and shampooed my hair, soaped my body, and rinsed it all off, I thought about how I could avoid the little annoying gremlin without him knowing. I peeked out of the shower curtain and lo and behold, there happens to be a window, just big enough for me to get out of. I can keep the shower on, dry myself when I get out, put my clothes on, and then bolt out of here.
The regret of not eating any of Yoko's pancakes will haunt me for life but I can't eat with that little monster following me.
So, with a heavy heart, I began my plan. Kept the shower on, got out of it, dried off, and put my clothes on. Now I just got to open this window up. And…there! And a bonus, the bathroom is on the first floor!
With a wide grin, I jumped out the window, closed it behind me… then GOT THE HELL OUT OF DODGE!
"Okay, I think I'm far enough away to take a breath." I told myself, resting on the wall of a cafe that I had stumbled across.
*Groowwwl*
And there's my growling belly. Well, I could use a bite to eat. Maybe this place has some good bakery goods and drink options.
"Maybe next time, you suck it up and deal with the boy. He'll only keep bugging you." Ray piped in.
Yes, thank you for your advice which I will soundly ignore. I'm not teaching that kid shit.
"Language!"
Screw you…
"No thanks…"
Not like that, you- you know what, never mind. I'm hungry. I need to eat.
Entering the Café, I checked around and noticed there weren't that many people inside, save for the employees who were busy making either coffee, smoothies, or checking the kitchen due to the smell of baked goods filling the atmosphere. Of course, I'm not just going for baked goods, gotta have the savory protein with the eggs and bacon too.
So, with a bit of a sigh, I approached the counter.
"Welcome, how may I help you?" The cashier asked.
"What's the best breakfast item you have here?" I asked.
The cashier smiled, "You're in luck! We just finished some piping hot cinnamon buns fresh out the oven. And we also have a special smoothie flavor today as well. Dragon Fruit and guava."
Hm, it does sound pretty good. "I'll take two and a large cup of that smoothie."
"Alright," The cashier typed away on the automatic register. "Your order comes up to 150 DP."
Oh, right. Apparently, in this world, items and such are paid with DP (Duel Points) which you earn from Dueling. Action Duels can net you quite a large sum of DP while regular Duels will only give you half as much. Plus, the longer your Duels, the more DP you earn. There're even special bonuses for when you use certain Summoning Methods during a Duel. Something I took great care to sink my teeth in for all its worth.
Taking out my D-Pad, I held it over the scanner as it subtracted the necessary amount and I saw the small green 'Approved' on the screen.
"Thank you for your purchase. Please have a seat and we'll call you up via your order number." The cashier said.
"Thanks." I replied, receiving the order number which turned out to be 69. Hehe, nice.
Scouting around the café, I spotted an empty seat by the large storefront windows and sat down, admiring the world outside.
So while I'm waiting for my food, let's review what we have so far.
I found myself in the ARC-V world with Ray's soul as my guide. I got the Gundams for my deck, I busted Rin and Ruri out of their towers and escaped with them on the Exia. Then we were transported here to the Standard Dimension. I got the girls to the doctor to have their parasites removed thanks to the money I got from the Underground Duel I had with Mai…kind of. Met Yuya and the gang, following the events, and…here we are. Yeah, that sounds about right. So now…the million DP question: What's next for me to change?
I already changed Sora's interest in Pendulum Summoning to me. I don't think he'll have any information on my Decks from the Duel I had in the Fusion Dimension but the Mind Crush I inflicted on that Academia goon after I beat him. Still, might not be a good idea to use my Xyz Decks around him.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" A feminine voice asked.
"Hm?" I looked at the speaker and had to force myself from showcasing my shock.
She had long straight black hair trailing just below her shoulders and featured two locks wrapped in gold rings coming from behind her ears, continuing in front, and stopping at her neck. She was slender in build and had tanned skin, wearing a dress that featured black patterns around the neck and the rims of the sleeves. Her jewelry consists of a gold piece of headwear circling her head and featuring an emerald where it meets at the front.
I can't believe I'm looking at Ishizu Ishtar!
"Hello?" Ishizu spoke, cutting me out from my thoughts.
"Uh, sorry. Sure, you're welcome to sit here." I replied with a smile. "I could use the company anyways."
Ishizu smiled back as she sat down. "I've never seen you before. Are you new here in the city?"
"Something like that." I shrugged. "How about you?"
"Oh, I'm simply visiting my younger brother. He lives here and is a Duelist for the upcoming tournament here in Maiami City." Ishizu answered.
So Marik is also here. Makes sense, I guess. I met Mai and she mentioned Joey (or Jonouchi) so it stands to reason that some familiar faces from the classic series would be here in Standard.
"I see. I heard about that. Thought about entering it myself." I said, even though I didn't really want to. Mostly because I had no interest in being used as bait for the eventual Academia invasion.
"You're a Duelist as well?" Ishizu pondered.
"Isn't everyone?" I teased, smirking.
A faint dusting of red appeared on the Egyptian woman's cheeks then I heard a voice call out, "Order Number 69!"
"Ah, that would be me. I'll be right back." I said, standing up and heading towards the counter to collect my food and drink. Gathering my breakfast, I returned to my seat and placed it on the table.
"A sweet tooth, I see." Ishizu commented.
"On occasion." I replied, taking a plastic fork and diving into the cinnamon buns. Hm, flaky, sweet, and warm. Delicious. I took a sip of my smoothie and the mixture between dragon fruit and guava made my taste buds dance with joy.
"Good, I take it?" She asked me.
"Quite so." I replied. "Oh, I just realized that we never introduced ourselves, didn't we?"
Ishizu giggled softly, "We did not. My name is Ishizu Ishtar."
"Ishizu, huh? Lovely name." I complimented with a grin. "Fujimura Yusuke is my name. Call me Yusuke if you'd like."
"Very well, Yusuke." Ishizu giggled. Man, I never thought I'd see this side of her. It's kinda cute.
"Since when were you a ladies' man?" Ray inquired.
I had girls coming after me in high school. Never bothered with it because I was barely able to understand social cues. Girls like the mysterious types. Plus, I think it's this bishounen body. Boyish looks tend to be attractive to anime girls.
I could feel Ray roll her eyes. What? I can't help it.
"So where were we?"
"We were talking about you as a Duelist?" Ishizu recalled.
Ah, right.
"I'd say that I'm pretty decent," I explained while taking a bite of my sweets. "There are Duelists where I'm from that are definitely tougher than me but I can hold my own."
"I see. Well then… how about after this, you and I Duel?"
"Oh? What brought this about?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know. But there's something about you that… intrigues me…" Ishizu smiled mysteriously.
I smirked, "It's not just my pretty face, is it?"
"Maybe." The Egyptian woman returned my smirk with one of her own.
"Well, I would not be opposed to-" Before I could continue though, I received an unexpected surprise.
"Teacher!"
Namely the annoying little gremlin that managed to FUCKING FIND ME!
"Jesus Christ!" I exclaimed, jumping in my seat before glaring at my current source of misery. "How the heck did you find me, Sora?!"
"I have a knack for finding people, teacher!" Sora smiled. "Hey, can you teach me how to Pendulum Summon now?"
"I told you a million times, the answer's no! Have Yuya teach you! And for the last time, I'm not your teacher nor ever will be!"
Sora pouted then looked at Ishizu, "Ne, could you get teacher to teach me?"
"Huh?" The Egyptian looked confused.
"Why are you asking her?" I questioned.
The sky bluenette looked at me with child-like innocence. "Well, the onee-san is your girlfriend, right?"
HAAAAAAAAAAAAH?!
"I told you, that you should've dealt with the boy, but no~ you don't want to listen."
Quiet, you!
"G-Girlfriend?" Ishizu stuttered, her cheeks flushed a bright pink.
"Yeah, I mean, you and teacher are sitting together in a café, eating together, laughing together, and all that. So you must be his girlfriend." Sora chimed.
"We just met." I deadpanned. That, and you ruined my chance with her anyways!
"So, she's not your girlfriend?"
"No. She's not."
"Oh…"

"Teach me to Pendulum Summon."
"I SAID NO!"
"Please teach me?"
"AAARRRRGGGGH!"

And it is here…that I am currently banging my head against the wall because of a certain brat that just won't take a hint and leave me the fuck alone!
"Is he still bugging you?" Yuya asked me after he and Yuzu came in after middle school had ended for the day.
"Yes…to no…fucking…end…" I groaned. "I met this nice girl at the café, and he ruined it…"
"Wait, is that why you left the house and left the shower on? You know my mom had to break down the bathroom door because she thought you hurt yourself or something."
"I needed to get away from that gremlin somehow…" I groused. "Can't you teach him Pendulum Summoning? You're the expert at it."
"I mean, I could but he seemed pretty adamant that it should be you." Yuya replied, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"But why me?! ME?!"
"Well, you did use Pendulum Summoning against Sawatari." The tomato-haired boy grumbled, looking oddly jealous for some reason. "And you even used Fusion, Xyz, and Synchro along with it. I've never done that even though I created Pendulum Summoning."
"Dammit," I cursed. This is karma for being over eager when it comes to Dueling. I let my ego get the best of me, especially due to my Decks. Now it's come back to bite me in the ass.
"Exactly."
Shut up, Ray!
"So, what will you do now?" Yuya asked me.
"Got no choice." I grumbled. "He won't stop annoying me unless I show him Pendulum Summoning. So, I'm going to do what I should've done in the first place. Teach him through an Action Duel."
I'm going to hate this so soooooo much…
So here I am, standing in the You Show School Duel Arena on one side with Sora standing on the other, grinning like a total idiot like he had Christmas and his birthday at the same time. Yeah, I'm really going to hate this…
"Alright, kid. Let's get one thing straight. I'm only doing this, because you won't leave me alone." I spoke. "One Duel. And one Duel only. And I'm only showing you Pendulum Summon only once, got it?"
"You got it, teacher!" Sora chimed.
I'm seriously going to murder this little brat.
"What did I say about murdering people?"
Not paying you to talk right now.
"You don't pay me, at all." Ray deadpanned.
"I'm not your teacher. Stop calling me that." I growled.
"Hey, how about a bet? If I win, then you have to teach me how to use Pendulum Summoning." Sora persisted, smile still present.
"And if I win, you'll stop bothering me and calling me your teacher." I added my own set of parameters for the Duel.
"Deal!"
He better honor his end of the deal…
With a sigh, I looked towards the control room which had Shuzo inside while Yuya, Yuzu, and the kids watched from the display room. "Alright Shuzo-san, set it up for us!"
"Right! Action Field On!" Shuzo declared while using a microphone in the control room to hype up the upcoming Duel. "Field Magic! Wild West Duel Town!"
The Solid Vision System activated, turning the environment around us into the same wild west town that I had first Dueled in against Yuya.
"Huh? Huh? Huh?" Sora, however, didn't seem to approve. "What is this? It's so boring, I hate these kinds of things!" He crossed his arms and pouted like the child he is.
No doubt Shuzo is surprised and confused, evident by the vocal "Eh?" that he just released on the mic.
"Don't you have a more fun or interesting one?" Sora complained.
Still think this was a good idea, Ray?
"Starting to see your point."
"Umm…" Shuzo quickly collected himself and made a different selection. "Alright, then how's this!"
Suddenly the Action Field changed from a cowboy-esque environment to a land filled with nothing but sweets and cavity-induced dreams. And judging by Sora's expression, it met his approval.
"Wow! It's a country of candy!" The boy said with clear joy. "This looks delicious! I love these kinds of things!" Sora waved at Shuzo's barely noticeable image. "Thank you, mister!"
I saw Shuzo turn around and have a moment which I found a bit weird yet humorous. But this has gone on long enough, "Alright, we've played around with this. Now let's get this show on the road." Immediately, my D-Pad went into Duel Mode, expanding on my arm and revealing the glowing yellow bladed board. I managed to place one of my many Decks in as well. Knowing Sora, he probably studied the monsters and cards I used during my Duel with Sawatari. So, he'll expect me to use that Deck.
Regardless, I'm confident that my current choice will be appropriate against Sora and his personal brand of monsters.
"Duelists locked in battle!" Yuzu began the chant.
"Kicking against the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters!" Tatsuya continued the next part.
"They storm through this Field!" Futoshi added happily.
"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of Dueling!" Ayu finished.
"Action-!" Yuya declared with a smile.
"DUEL!" Sora and I declared at the same time.

The Action Cards that had gathered overhead then scattered, signaling the start of the Duel.
"I'm going first!" I stated. I took a card from my starting hand and played it. "I shall summon Wing Gundam from my hand!"
Appearing on my Field is the familiar white, blue Gundam with bird wings, a red shield, and a long-barreled rifle (4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200).
"Next, I activate the Spell Card: Mobile Reinforcement. If I have a Level 4 Machine-type Monster on my Field, I can Special Summon additional monsters as long as they're the same or below Level." I declared, playing the card. "However, I cannot conduct my Battle Phase this turn. But since I'm going first, I don't have to worry about that. So I'll Special Summon from my hand the Level 4 Gundam Heavyarms!"
Materializing beside Wing Gundam was a red, white Gundam that seemed to be built like a tank and had a shielded gatling gun on the left arm (4/ATK: 1700/DEF: 1800).
"I end my turn!" I declared as Wing Gundam transformed into its Bird Mode, allowing me to hop on as it flew off while Heavyarms followed after me.
"My turn, Draw!" Sora declared, drawing his sixth card. When he glanced at what he drew, his lips rose a bit higher. "I activate the Continuous Magic: Toy Pot from my hand!" He played his spell which summoned a toy-like gacha machine behind him. "Toy Pot lets me send one card from my hand to the Graveyard and draw one card from my Deck."
I watched as Sora sent a card from his hand to the grave. If this is playing out like I think it is, that means the card he sent must have been Fusion Recovery.
A cartoonish coin appeared out of nowhere before slotting itself into the Toy Pot.
"If the card is a Level 4 or lower monster, I can Special Summon it! Anything else gets sent to the Graveyard! Draw!" Sora finished explaining the effect of his card to me as he drew his card. "The card I drew is…" He briefly glanced at his drawn card and showed it to me. "Furnimal Bear! I Special Summon Furnimal Bear!"
Toy Pot's arm level moved and out came a gacha capsule which released Sora's monster, a pink-furred teddy bear-like monster with angel wings and a red scarf (3/ATK: 1200/DEF: 800).
"And after that I Normal Summon Furnimal Lion from my hand!" The sky bluenette called out as he summoned his next monster, a yellow lion monster with angel wings and what looked to be tape on its stubby legs (4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200).
"Both of them used a Magic Card to get two monsters on their field in a flash." Shuzo commented with a grin.
"He looks like he's actually pretty good." Yuzu complimented Sora.
"And Yusuke is using a different Deck this time too." Yuya added.
"But both of those monsters are…" Ayu started before both she and Yuzu chimed together with joy at the sight of the Furnimals. "So cute!"
"Shoot me now…" I groaned, facepalming as Wing Gundam flew ahead and over a juice pond. Unfortunately, Heavyarms wasn't built for speed and began to sink in the pond. "Ah, crap. Sorry about that."
"Battle Phase, teacher!" Sora declared.
"Huh?" I raised a brow in confusion.
"I attack Wing Gundam with Furnimal Lion!" The boy called out as the toy-like lion leapt at my Gundam.
What's the point? Both their ATK are the same and even if he had Furnimal Bear left, it can't do anything against Heavyarms. Still, I'm not just going to let this attack go through.
"Heavyarms!" I cried out and the heavy armament Gundam began to spin around like an acrobat, sending up a small typhoon of juice and from out of the liquid, an Action Card which I immediately snagged and played. "I activate the Action Magic - Evade from my hand! This card allows me to negate a monster's attack!"
Furnimal Lion had just about reached me and Wing Gundam until the bird-like machine pulled off a G-Force maneuver that I had to keep a firm grip on to prevent myself from falling and avoided the stuffed toy's attack.
"Aww! Don't dodge that's not fair!" Sora whined.
"You can't really expect me to let you hit me, right?" I shot back with a smirk as Wing Gundam flew ahead. "Better luck next time." And for added measure, I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Yusuke, look out!" Yuzu cried out.
"Look ahead of you!" Yuya frantically waved his arms.
"Huh?" I blinked in confusion and stared ahead…only to be met with a giant chocolate roll cake. "Oh, son of a-"
*SPLAT!*

How humiliating…
Crawling through rows of cake and cream (even though it should be fake yet some of the Solid Vision had actual taste), Wing Gundam and I popped our heads out from the top.
"Well, that sucked…" I grumbled.
At least the cake tastes good…
"This is no time to be having dessert!"Ray shouted comically. "You already had cinnamon buns!"
Don't blame me, I didn't make the Solid Vision System so real.
"But I did manage to score this." I commented, producing an Action Card. "And I'll use it immediately. I activate the Action Magic - Candy Shower!" When I played the card, a yellow light was shot from my D-Pad towards the sky and from it came a shower of various different candies.
Sora looked at it all with awe. "It's candies!" Then he paused when he heard the sounds of heavy munching and found, to his shock and bewilderment, Furnimal Bear eating a large pile of candies. "Hey, I didn't say you could start eating!"
"Candy Shower can change one of my opponent's monsters into DEF position." I explained the effect of the Action Card. "Wasn't sure if you had a card on hand that would boost your bear's ATK, so I took a precaution."
"Huh? Then I'm ending my turn." Sora said, sounding disappointed that he didn't get to do much. "If it's come to this then I'm going to get myself an Action Card too!" The boy already took off with his monsters dutifully following behind him.
"My turn, Draw!" I drew my next card and grinned. "Oh, you're in for it now, kid."
"Huh?" Sora looked behind him as I started making a move.
"I activate the Spell: Rearm and Resupply! This allows me to return any number of monsters on my field to my hand and for every monster returned, I draw a card. I return Wing Gundam and Gundam Heavyarms to my hand." I jumped off Wing Gundam just as it vanished. As I passed by Sora, I snagged an Action Card that he had been trying to reach with the help of his monsters. "Yoink!"
"Ah! That's not fair!" Sora cried out, indignantly.
I landed in a crouch, adding the Action Card to my hand. "And since I returned two monsters to my hand, I can draw two new cards. Draw!" When I drew said cards, I smirked at the images on them. "I think it's about time we start what you've all been waiting for."
That seemed to perk Sora right up, "Ah, could it be?"
"I, using the Scale 3 MS Pilot - Heero Yuy and the Scale 8 MS Pilot - Zechs Marquise, set the Pendulum Scale!" I declared, slapping both cards on the far sides of my Duel Board. The word 'PENDULUM' appeared in a rainbow of colors.
Two pillars of light appeared behind me. Glancing back, I saw a brown-haired teenager with Prussian blue eyes and a prominent scowl on his face while dressed in a green tank top, blue shorts, and tan boots floating on my right. Floating on my left is an older man wearing a rounded mask-like helmet with long platinum blonde hair and dressed in a red-black military officer's uniform that seemed fit for nobility. The numbers '3' and '8' appeared below the feet of the duo.
"With these two, I can simultaneously summon Monsters between Levels 4 and 7!" I declared before beginning the chant.
"Sway, to-and-fro sway! Let the potential of humanity reach its epoch and unveil its light! Pendulum Summon! Appear before me, my Gundams!"
A portal opened in the sky above me and out came three different trails of light that formed into three familiar (for me) Gundams.
"First up, please welcome back to the stage: Wing Gundam and Gundam Heavyarms!" Materializing at my command were the aforementioned Gundams as they landed on their feet. "And next up, please welcome our newest performer: Gundam Deathscythe!" Appearing in between Wing and Heavyarms is the black, white Gundam themed after a grim reaper as it held its beam scythe with both hands (4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 1300).
"Wow," Sora said with awe, cheeks flushed with excitement. "That was amazing, teacher!"
"We're not done yet. The show has yet to even begin." I pointed out. "First off, I activate the Action Card that I just got! Action Magic - Nanana! This increases the ATK of one monster on my field by 700 until the end of my turn! And I'll use its effect on Wing Gundam!" Playing the Action Card, a cartoonish banana appeared and suddenly bent its body to look like the number seven. Wing Gundam's optics flared as power flowed into it, raising its ATK (ATK: 1600-2300).
"An ATK of 2300!" Tatsuya said with clear excitement.
"Wow!" Futoshi added, equally excited.
"And since he has three monsters, all of whom have higher ATK strength than Sora's, Yusuke-kun will be dealing some serious damage." Shuzo commented, a fire in his eyes. "So hot-blooded!"
"Battle! I will attack your Furnimal Lion with Gundam Heavyarms!" I declared as the red-white Gundam suddenly took a stationary position as its chest and shoulder armor opened, revealing hidden machine guns and missile launchers. "Fire!" The Gundam obeyed the order, unleashing a barrage of heavy firepower that came down on Furnimal Lion, destroying it in an explosion that vaporized it.
Sora braced himself as the shockwave from the explosion rippled through his clothing.

"Gundam Heavyarms' Effect activates! When it succeeds in destroying a monster in battle, I can change the battle position of one monster on either player's field!" I declared, surprising all those present.
"But that means-" The sky bluenette tried to speak before I cut him off.
"Your Furnimal Bear is forced into ATK position! Harlequin Stare!" I cried out as Heavyarms gave the pink teddy bear a look and it seemed to frighten the bear enough to switch it to ATK mode.
"Uh oh." Sora gulped.
"Next, Gundam Deathscythe attacks your Furnimal Bear! Rip that eyesore to shreds!" I commanded the reaper-like Gundam as it charged at Furnimal Bear and raised its beam scythe overhead, scaring the poor thing for a moment before bifurcation ended its existence.
Sora gritted his teeth as he watched the remains of his last monster explode, nearly knocking him off his feet.

"And now, Wing Gundam attacks you directly!" Wing's optics flared as it flew high into the sky then hovered until it took aim with its rifle, a small yellow light glowing from the end of the barrel. "Buster Shot!" At my declaration, the Gundam pulled the trigger, and a large yellow energy beam was fired towards the boy, striking the ground in front of him as he cried out then landed on a bunch of marshmallows.

Shuzo had to hold himself back from squealing after seeing such an incredible sight. "Dealing such a huge chunk of damage like that…" Then he could no longer contain himself, "That's some burning hot Dueling right there!"
"I'm getting shivers!" Futoshi beamed, doing his shiver dance again.
"That was a really impressive play." Yuzu commented with a smile.
"And he didn't even have an ace monster out either." Yuya added, frowning a bit at the sight of the Pendulum Monsters.
"With this, I end my turn!" I told my opponent. "At this time, Wing Gundam's increased ATK returns to normal." Wing Gundam settled down beside its brethren as its power left it (ATK: 2300-1600).
However, Sora didn't seem to be moving. At all.
Okay, I know this kid has got to be faking. I didn't even hit him with the beam.
"Is he alright?" Ayu asked, worried.
"Yusuke, don't you think that's a little too hot-blooded?" Shuzo scolded me.
"Yeah, don't you feel sorry for him?" Yuzu chimed in.
"Get off my case! The brat is fine!" I retorted, not really appreciating how I'm suddenly the bad guy in all this.
Then I heard it…
Giggling.
Followed after by joyful laughter then the seemingly unconscious boy hopped back on to his feet. "This is what I wanted to see!" He exclaimed, a smirk present on his face. "The monsters are going schwoom when they come out and fwoosh when they attack! Pendulum Monsters are the best!"
It's his turn now. Does that mean he'll draw it?
"My turn, Draw!" Sora drew from his Deck and then I could feel a bit of that Academia training emerging from him. "Now that I've got this, it looks like you'll be able to see the full strength of my Deck!"
So, he did draw it. Good thing I had my monsters Pendulum Summoned then. But I might as well humor him.
"So, you were holding back, huh?" I inquired.
The boy giggled a bit, "You'll find out real soon." He took a card from his hand. "I discard one card from my hand to activate Toy Pot's effect." A coin materialized and entered the gacha machine. "What'll come out, what will it be?" He said playfully before drawing. "Here it is! Level 3 Edge Imp Scissors!"
The gacha machine released a capsule and popping out of the ball is a living set of possessed demon scissors (3/ATK: 1200/DEF: 800).
"Next, I'll summon a second copy of Furnimal Bear!" Sora played another card from his hand and the pink-furred teddy bear-like monster reappeared once more. "And now I activate the Magic Card: Fusion from my hand!"
"Did he say Fusion!?" Yuya cried out in surprise.
"The monsters I will fuse are Edge Impact Scissor and Furnimal Bear!" Sora announced.
A swirling vortex appeared behind the boy as both monsters entered it to begin the fusion process.
"Claws of the demon and fangs of the beast! Become one and reveal to us your new form! Fusion Summon! Come forth, horrifying beast that shreds all! Des-Toy Scissor Bear!"
What followed after was something straight out of a horror film. Furnimal Bear's body suddenly ripped and tore itself apart as scissor blades emerged from its body. What was once a cute and cuddly monster was now a nightmarish abomination that would frighten small children (6/ATK: 2200/DEF: 1800).
"That's a Fusion Monster." Yuzu said, feeling uneasy about the new monster's appearance.
"Onee-chan, I'm scared!" Ayu whimpered, holding onto Yuzu and closing her eyes after seeing such a horrifying transformation.
"It'll be okay." Yuzu reassured the younger girl.
The boys, on the other hand, didn't react with fear. "That's amazing!" Futoshi shouted with awe.
"It's the second time I've seen this!" Tatsuya said, equally joyful.
Yuya, however, felt a little creeped out by the Fusion Monster. "Not exactly something child-friendly though."
Meanwhile, Sora smirked in anticipation, "Now then teacher," He began. "I'm going to show you what happens when I get serious!"
I braced myself when the boy said that. I can only hope that I survive this turn.
"Battle Phase, teacher!" Sora declared, smirk still present. "First, how about we get rid of that annoying metal pigeon of yours?"
Did he seriously just refer to Wing Gundam as one of those flying rats?!
"I attack Wing Gundam with Des-Toy Scissor Bear!" The sky bluenette called out as the nightmarish bear swung back its right arm then threw it forward, the paw slamming into Wing's torso and sending it flying until it landed in the juice pond, destroying it.
The shockwave of the attack sent me flying as well and I even landed in the juice pond.
"Yusuke!" Ray cried out, worried.
"Yusuke-niichan!" Ayu said, equally concerned as the kids watched my rough fall into the pond.
Breaking through the surface of the juice (tasted like apple juice), I swam for the edge even as my Life Points went down by a small amount.
Yusuke LP: 3400
Climbing out, I spat out a bit of the juice to clear my nose and throat until a shadow stood over me, which turned out to be Des-Toy Scissor Bear giving me a menacing look. Immediately, Deathscythe and Heavyarms stood guard in front of me, warning the Fusion Monster off with their signature weapons.
"It's time to activate Scissor Bear's effect!" Sora declared. "Scissor Bear can equip the monster it destroyed to itself."
As an emphasis of its effect, Des-Toy Scissor Bear sent out its left arm as it scoured the juice pond in search of its prey… but found nothing.
"Huh? Hey, where's Wing Gundam? I know I destroyed it." Sora pondered, confused. Even Scissor Bear shared its master's expression despite not having an actual face and only a pair of angry red eyes.
This got me chuckling, "Let's just say, that it's a power a Pendulum Monster possesses." I dropped a hint to the boy.
"What?! No fair! Tell me, teacher!" Sora whined.
"End your turn and I'll gladly show you." I retorted, growing tired of the hidden Academia spy's griping.
The boy pouted, "Fine. I place two cards and end my turn." The aforementioned cards appeared briefly on Sora's field before vanishing.
"My turn, Draw!" I drew my next card and looked at it then immediately played it. "First, I activate Pot of Greed! This card allows me to draw two cards from my Deck!"
Oh right, for all you readers, apparently in Standard, some cards that would normally be banned can be used so long as you only have one copy. I managed to learn about that during my first few days here.
Drawing my additional two cards, I looked at the images and smirked. "Now it's time I call forth one of my own powerful monsters!"
"You got nothing!" Sora boasted.
"Oh yeah? Watch me." I smirked. "Because this monster can be summoned with only one tribute as long as that sacrifice is a FIRE-attribute. And guess who qualifies: Gundam Heavyarms!"
Sensing what I wanted, Heavyarms ignited its thrusters and took off into the sky at full-burn.
"I release Gundam Heavyarms in order to Advance Summon, Gundam Heavyarms Kai!" I declared, placing down my newest monster as Heavyarms came back down with more armor and its singular gatling gun became a twin barreled gatling gun (7/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2800).
"A new Gundam monster!" Tatsuya cried out with joy.
"But it looks the same though save for the big gun." Sora commented, a bit disappointed.
"I heard that!" I exclaimed.
"You were supposed to!"
*POP!*
"Now you've made me mad…" I growled in frustration. Yeah, that's it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. The kid gloves are off! "Battle Phase! Gundam Heavyarms Kai attacks Scissor Bear!"
"Trap activate: Jack In The Box!" Sora chimed, happily. "This card can send one monster aside from the one attacking to the Graveyard, then the attacking monster loses ATK equal to the sent monster's ATK or DEF as well as negating the attack!"
"That's not good." I said…before smirking. "Just kidding. I activate the Pendulum Effect of Zechs Marquise! Once per turn, this card negates the effects of a Trap card that targets a Machine-type Monster! Lightning Whiplash!"
Zechs held out his right hand and what appeared to be a shield with a bladed whip materialized in it before he swung the weapon, sending a whip of heated energy at the card. The whip ensnared Sora's Trap, stopping it from using its effect.
"Whoa! So that's a Pendulum Effect! Super cool!" Sora chimed, happily. Then he had a cocky smirk on his face. "But what about a second Trap?"
"Shit." I cursed, momentarily forgetting the other set card.
"I activate my second Trap Card!" Sora declared, the other set card lifting up to reveal a copy of the first. "And surprise, this one is also Jack In The Box!"
"What?! Another Jack In The Box!?" Yuya exclaimed in surprise.
"Did he set that, knowing something like this would happen?" Yuzu pondered.
Sora continued unabated with his Trap's effect. "And the monster I choose to send to the Graveyard is your Gundam Deathscythe!"
From out of the Trap card came a cartoonish box that opened to release a spring-loaded gloved hand that grabbed Deathscythe until it reared back and flung the Gundam right at Heavyarms Kai. Both machines slammed into one another, with Deathscythe shattering into particles while Heavyarms Kai was knocked onto its back (ATK: 2400-800).
"Heavyarms Kai's attack is negated and its ATK is lowered equal to Deathscythe's ATK." Sora chimed. "Heavyarms' ATK is lowered by 1600."
"You little…" I snarled. How dare this little brat make a fool out of me! Out of my Gundams! "I set one card and end my turn!"
"Oh, what's this? That's quite a passive move there, teacher!" Sora pointed out, playfully. "Don't tell me you're all out of options? If that's so then I'm disappointed…" He shrugged. "I thought I could have a more interesting Duel than this with you, teacher. How boring!"
"Make your turn already." I growled in annoyance.
Unflinching from my anger, Sora continued, "My turn, Draw!" When he looked at his drawn card, his smirk widened. "Looks like I might just end this! I play two Magic Cards, the Equip Spell: Des-Toy Claw and the Normal Magic: Toy Parade in my hand!" He said, playing his cards.
Des-Toy Claw? I've never heard of that one before.
"Des-Toy Claw, when equipped to a Toy monster, gives the equipped monster 600 additional ATK. And I equip this card to Scissor Bear!" Sora explained the effect of his Equip card. The right arm of Scissor Bear began to morph until it sprouted a set of razor-sharp metal claws that seemed primed for ripping flesh from bone (ATK: 2200-2800).
"2800 ATK?!" Shuzo exclaimed in shock.
"That's way higher than Yusuke's Heavyarms!" Yuya joined in on Shuzo's shock.
"And as for the Toy Parade. This turn any Toy, or monster cards with Toy in their name can attack as many times as they have Equip Cards attached to them." Sora explained.
"That's bad! That's really bad!" Shuzo grimaced.
"Bad? But Scissor Bear only has one Equip Card." Futoshi remarked, confused.
"But it does get them when it destroys a monster and right now Yusuke-niichan's Heavyarms has lower ATK than Scissor Bear and it wasn't Pendulum Summoned!" Tatsuya pointed out.
"And you planned on that when you noticed Wing Gundam not being affected by your monster's Effect." I scowled.
"Exactly! So now, my fluffy friends can bring in the hurt! Battle Phase, teacher! Scissor Bear attacks Gundam Heavyarms Kai! Dismemberment Claw!" Sora declared as Des-Toy Scissor Bear released a growling roar before it brought up its shiny new claws and threw it forward. The weakened Gundam stood no chance as the nightmarish Fusion's attack tore through its chest and lifted up the lifeless mech above its head. "Scissor Bear's Effect activates! Your Heavyarms Kai becomes its new Equip Card!" Then in a show of disturbing horror, Scissor Bear opened its maw…and ate the Gundam whole. It didn't even bother to chew and with its meal complete, the Fusion Monster grew both in size and power (ATK: 2800-5200).
I gritted my teeth in anger at the sight even as my Life Points dropped significantly.
Yusuke LP: 1400
"Yusuke-kun's Life…" Shuzo starred in shock.
"Oh no, it's all over!" Futoshi cried out.
"Hold on, don't count him out just yet." Yuya said.
"But Yuya-niichan, he…" Ayu whimpered.
"He still has one card left to play." Yuya assured the little girl.
"That's right. In the short time we've known him, Yusuke has never shown that he wanted to give up." Yuzu added with a smile. "Like any Duelist, he won't stop until the last card is played."
"Now, teacher, it's time to end this Duel." Sora said, a confident grin on his face. "I will have Scissor Bear attack you directly! Dismemberment Claw!"
Scissor Bear followed its master's command and threw out the metal claw at me. At this distance, I wouldn't be able to escape…
"Yusuke!"
I won't let this stop me!
"Trap activate! Gundanium Plating!" I declared, playing my lone set card as it revealed itself and showcasing an image of Wing Gundam holding its shield. "By paying half my Life Points, I can negate a monster's attack! I chose Des-Toy Scissor Bear!" Appearing in front of me is Wing Gundam's shield, acting as a barrier that stopped Sora's attack in its tracks.
Yusuke LP: 700
Sora pouted, "Mou, I was about to win too. Oh well, not like it matters. My Scissor Bear is still the strongest monster on the field, and you only have your Pendulum Scale. On my next turn, you're finished, teacher." He said with a smirk. "I end my turn."
"You're about to find out how wrong you really are." I said coldly. "My turn! Draw!" I drew my next card and glanced at it. This is just what I needed. "You wanted to know the reason why Scissor Bear didn't turn Wing Gundam into an Equip Card, right?"
The sky bluenette Academia boy tilted his head in confusion, "Yeah, what about it?"
"Allow me to show you. With my current Pendulum Scale, I'm able to simultaneously summon monsters between Levels 4 and 7!" I declared as my Extra Deck slot opened, revealing a singular card.
"Wait, what are you-" Sora got out.
"Sway, to-and-fro sway! Let the potential of humanity reach its epoch and unveil its light! Pendulum Summon! Appear before me, my Gundams!"
The portal opened once more. Only this time, only one light came down to reveal a familiar bird-like machine that landed on its feet.
"Returning from the Extra Deck is the ever-resilient Wing Gundam!" I announced as the Gundam flexed its wing binders as if to show off its magnificence.
"Wing Gundam was in the Extra Deck!?" Yuzu exclaimed in shock.
"How is that possible? I thought it was in the Graveyard!" Yuya pondered, confused and shocked all at once.
"Allow me to explain," I chimed in with a smirk. "Whenever a Pendulum Monster is destroyed in battle, instead of going to the Graveyard, it is sent to the Extra Deck instead. And so long as I have a Pendulum Scale that meets the requirements to summon it, I can Pendulum Summon those monsters onto the field."
Sora looked positively awestricken. "That basically means that Pendulum Monsters are practically immortal!"
"Indeed." I nodded wistfully.
"He…figured that out before me?" Yuya muttered, feeling a bit depressed.
"Now then, it's time to get this party started!" I declared, the smirk on my face widening a fraction as I prepared my next move. "Prepare yourself, Sora! This will be the grand finale!"
"Yusuke-niichan's going to win?" Ayu got out. "But how?"
Hearing the little girl's question, I decided to explain. "Simple! I've yet to showcase my other Pendulum Effect!"
Tatsuya gasped, "No way…"
Futoshi hopped up and down in growing anticipation, "Does he mean-"
"Exactly!" I stated. "I activate Heero Yuy's Pendulum Effect! Once per turn, I can Special Summon a Level 4 'Gundam' monster from my hand or Graveyard. However, that monster's effects are negated this turn. The monster I choose to revive will be…" The D-Pad's GY slot opened and as I looked through the small selection, I made my choice. "Revive and showcase your acrobatic prowess, Gundam Heavyarms! Operation Revival!"
In a burst of sparkling light, Heavyarms appeared, performing Trowa Barton's signature acrobatic corkscrew flip before landing perfectly on the ground without making a single fracture on the flooring from its weight.
"Amazing!" The children all beamed in unison with awe as Heavyarms gave a performer's bow towards the audience.
Sora, however, didn't seem fazed, "Huh? Why would you waste time bringing back a weakling? None of your monsters stand a chance against my Scissor Bear."
My smirk widened, "Let me ask you a question. What are the Levels of both my Gundams?" I asked, making the question more for him as well as the audience watching us.
At first, Sora seemed confused, then his eyes widened in shock when he realized what I meant and what I was about to do. "No way! Does that mean-"
"Oh! I remember now!" Tatsuya cried out, surprising the others present.
"Eh? What?" Ayu looked at the navy-haired boy in confusion.
Tatsuya grinned in anticipation, "Yusuke-niichan has two Level 4 monsters on his field! That can only mean one thing!"
"You mean he's-" Futoshi queried, excited and also preparing to do his shiver dance.
Seeing as how everyone figured it out, I did not hold back any longer. "I Overlay my Level 4 Wing Gundam and Gundam Heavyarms!" I declared as both monsters turned into energy, Wing Gundam being yellow while Heavyarms became bright red. "With these two monsters, I shall build the Overlay Network!"
The streams of light entered a swirling vortex before a burst of light erupted from the dark hole.
"The harlequin hidden beneath the flames of war shall emerge in armor. Rain down a firestorm of justice upon the darkness! Xyz Summon! Blast them to bits, Rank 4, Gundam Heavyarms Waltz!"
Leaping into the air and spinning with the grace of an acrobat, a new Gundam appeared from the vortex until it landed with a heavy stomp. When the light showcased the machine, it revealed itself to be the Heavyarms but it seemed to have gone through a massive change. For instance, the fiery paint job it once had was no more but instead replaced by dark blues and greens. It also seemed to have additional firepower in the form of missile launchers attached to its legs and hips. The twin-barreled gatling gun it once had attached to its left arm had now become two double gatling guns that it held with both hands. It even had a half-face mask in the style of a pierrot that completely covered the right side of its face. The mask is white in color with a blue four-point star over the eye and a highly exaggerated red smile (R: 4/OU: 2/ATK: 2300/DEF: 2600).
"Whoa, talk about packing heat!" Yuya gawked.
"I'll say…" Yuzu muttered.
"A pretty cool monster but it's not even half as strong as my Scissor Bear." Sora pointed out yet there was a gleam in his eyes when he stared at my Xyz Monster.
"We'll see about that. In fact, I'll show you now. I activate Heavyarms Waltz's Monster Effect! By using one Overlay Unit, I can half the ATK of one monster on the field! Naturally, I pick your Scissor Bear!" I declared as one of Heavyarms' Overlay Units flew into its chest and the eye hidden behind the pierrot mask flashed (OU: 2-1) then it aimed its double gatling guns at the Fusion Monster. "Pierrot Punishment!" Then it fired, riddling Scissor Bear with bullets that drained it of its strength. Sora's monster fell on its ass with comical bullet holes in its body (ATK: 5200-2600).
"Like that'll help you! It's still stronger!" Sora pointed out.
"Who said I was done using his effect?" I smirked. The boy's eyes widened in shock as I continued, "I activate Heavyarms' Effect once more! Paying another Overlay Unit to cut the ATK of Scissor Bear again!" The last Overlay Unit entered the Gundam's chest (OU: 1-0). Heavyarms unleashed another payload of bullets that had Scissor Bear start dancing around to avoid being hit by the bullets even as its ATK went down yet again (ATK: 2600-1300). What no one didn't know was that during the chaos, an Action Card had flown out and landed in my hand.
And it's just the one I need to win this Action Duel!
"No way! My Scissor Bear has weakened so much now!" Sora pouted then frowned when he started processing the current situation. "I still have my Jack In The Box set but he still has his other Pendulum Effect too which would negate its effect. And I don't even know what sort of Action Card I'll get if I grab one. Still, I'll only take 1000 damage this turn. I can come back from this."
"You don't seem to understand, Sora," I interjected. "I said this was the grand finale. Which means, this is the final turn!" I then showed the Action Card that I had just snagged. "And I'll prove that with this! The Action Magic - Sugar Rush! When activated, one monster on my field gains an additional 500 ATK for this turn only. I'll select my Gundam Heavyarms Waltz!" A large number of sweets appeared in front of the Gundam and, to everyone's surprise, rapidly ate it all through its mask and suddenly bulked up (ATK: 2300-2800).
"No way!" Sora shouted in surprise.
"Yusuke, won!" Yuzu smiled widely.
I smirked, "The finale! Battle Phast! I attack Des-Toy Scissor Bear with Gundam Heavyarms Waltz!" I aimed my left index and middle finger at the Fusion Monster in a gun gesture while Heavyarms took a stance then every part of its chest and shoulder armor opened to reveal machine guns, missile launchers, and Vulcans while aiming its double gatling guns at Scissor Bear. "Nameless Barrage!" And with a simple gesture, the Gundam unleashed literal hell upon its foe, firing bullets and missiles at the Fusion Monster without mercy. It didn't even last for a second before Heavyarms' ammunition tore it to literal pieces then it vanished into particles. The shockwave sent Sora flying as his Life Points drained to zero.
Sora LP: 0
"ALRIGHT! YUSUKE WON!" Ayu, Futoshi, and Tatsuya cheered, jumping in the air as the Solid Vision returned the Field to normal, and the Gundam as well as the pilots disappeared after.
"Okay, Sora. A deal's a deal. I won. I've shown you Pendulum Summon. Never call me a teacher ever again. So leave me alone." I said while putting my Deck away and stretching my body to get the kinks out. "Keep your word or I'll-"
Suddenly, Sora appeared in front of me with a look of awe and excitement, "Dueling with you was really, really cool, Yusuke!"
"Uh… okay?" I blinked. "Wait, why are you using my first name?"
"Well, I can't be your student. So, I've decided that I'll be your friend instead!" Sora declared, proudly. "And if we're friends, we can call each other by our first name, ne? Ne? Ne?"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
"I guess you can't escape him, no matter what." Ray chimed, sounding amused at my predicament.

Apologies for taking so long to upload, I recently got myself a PS5 after trading in my old systems and I've been…incredibly distracted with it. That, and I've been trying to find a perfect way to do the Duel between Yusuke and Sora.
Anyways, I've brought back the Wing series Deck and showcased a few of its Pendulum Cards. Some of you have been wondering when I'll introduce a SEED Deck. I promise you, that is coming up soon. Also, yeah, Ishizu makes her appearance and that's to tease what will come for the Maiami Championship arc. Some familiar faces are going to show up and those Duels will be glorious!

"What?" Sora blinked along with Scissor Bear.
"BEHOLD! THE GLORY THAT IS ROCKET NIPPLES!" I rejoiced. Big rockets poked out from Heavyarms' chest and the coloring on the tips of the rockets were bright red and round.
"Why is that glorious?" Sora pondered, looking a little weirded out.
"FEAR THE ROCKET NIPPLES!" I roared. "FIRE!"
What followed after was the strangest and most epic explosion recorded in history. Duelists would speak of this day as a turning point.
A turning point that led to glory and majesty…
