Carne Village was a frontier village located at the border between the Re-Estize Kingdom and Baharuth Empire, settled south of the Azerlisia Mountains and next to the Great Forest of Tob. Carne Village was a territory of the Re-Estize Kingdom and, before the attack, consisted of an approximate population of 120 people. Within this population in the village, the people living there at that time were divided into 25 families. The village was commonly average with no real importance other than its location along the border. The predominant livelihood of the villagers came from the forest and their agricultural crops. This was due to the fact that the village received almost no visitors except for some doctors looking for herbs and the tax collector who came once a year. There were no soldiers within the village, which left it unprotected from attacks. When the bell in the middle of the village square rang to signal noon, everyone would take a break for lunch time.

There were two routes leading northeast to Carne Village from the city of E-Rantel: One road north and another headed east along the outskirts of the forest before curving northward after a while. The distance between this village and the fortress city of E-Rantel was approximately fifty kilometers, a distance that would take two days on foot.

On the other hand, herbs made up a major portion of Carne Village's income as the one specialty export that didn't require much manpower for a frontier village. Given that it was a crucial method for them to obtain valuable currency, all of Carne Village's residents knew at least a little about herbs and where they grew. In a sense, the herbs from Carne Village were incredibly profitable for villagers looking to earn money. However, they could only be gathered within an extremely short window of time before the flowers bloomed and could only be treated as a temporary income at best.

It was true that they could make do with what they grew for food, but making a profit from other things like clothes was impossible. Although the Great Forest of Tob was a place filled with danger, there were also places inside that granted blessings of resource to the villagers. These include foods such as fruits, plants, animals, and various herbs.

Carne's villagers helping one another in difficult situations was a keystone of their village life. As such, it was only expected that eighty percent of their earned income would be earmarked for the community's benefit. Hence why greedy and selfish households could not be established, as such behavior would never be permitted, as self-sufficiency was a strict requirement.

After the massacre of today, the population went down a lot. It was a miracle that more than 60 villagers were still alive. Normally they would all be dead, would it not be for a mysterious hero who appeared out of nowhere.

Naruto stood a little apart for the moment and just watched all the villagers mourn their dead. Unfortunately, he wasn't a magician who could revive the dead. He was a warrior who used martial arts. He had no talent for magic. If he had any talent for magic, he would certainly have become a mage and not a swordsman.

He glanced at his katana and drew it slightly from its sheath. He looked at the condition of the blade. The blade didn't look good after that fight against the Death Knight. It seemed like this katana was just an ordinary one.

'I have to get a new sword somewhere.' thought Naruto. The condition was still ok, but at some point, he would need a new weapon. That much was clear. The blade was still fine for common monsters like goblins or other weaker monsters. But the blade would not survive another fight against an opponent like a Death Knight.

He just looked at the villagers and after a few minutes he turned and walked away a bit. He needed some time to think. After all that excitement, he also needed some time to deal with the situation. He was distracted, but he still didn't know exactly why he had just woken up in the forest.

He now knew his name and also that he was a swordsman who mastered martial arts. He had been significantly stronger than those knights. There was absolutely nothing they could do against the Death Knight and as he recalled, he had a rare talent. He had mastered and learned his first martial art at the age of 8. He could also remember his master. At least his name, his looks and that he was strong. He didn't know how strong. But he didn't know more than that at the moment. He still had no idea where he came from and how strong he really was. Who was he really? Was he the son of a nobleman? Was he the son of a normal person? Was he from a village like this, or was he from a big city? He didn't know, and that was uncomfortable.

He had no idea what would happen from now on. After all, he had no place to go. He couldn't remember any home to go to. He had no friends or family to go to. He was here in a village which could be anywhere. He didn't even know where he was exactly and what this village was called.

He stood on a small hill which was in the village. There was a tree next to him. Naruto momentarily looked a little into the distance with a blank stare. What else would happen and what should he do?

His instincts, which had previously guided his actions, were also silent. So, he was really at a loss as to what to do right now. He didn't want to ask any of the villagers for help. All the villagers had enough to do at the moment. Many had lost a family member or several. Even the two girls seemed to have lost something he had saved at the very beginning.

He put his hand in his pocket and felt something funny. 'Huh?' thought Naruto. He felt a strange object in his pocket. He pulled it out of his pocket and looked closely at the item. It was some kind of horn. ,What is that?' thought Naruto. He was sure that when he woke up in the forest, he didn't have this horn in his pocket. He had, after all, searched his entire pocket for any clue to his identity.

A ring on his finger flashed briefly and his eyes widened. He didn't know why, but he suddenly knew what the item was. 'The goblin general's horn... you can use it to summon a small army of goblins who will listen to you.' thought Naruto. He looked at his ring, which had just glowed green.

'Do all rings have special properties? This one seems to be able to analyze the identity of items.' thought Naruto. He put the horn back in his pocket and then unsheathed his katana. He tried to activate the ring again, but it didn't work. No matter what he did, the ring didn't activate again.

He sighed and sheathed the katana. He looked at his other rings and touched each one. He was trying to find out if they also had special abilities. He wouldn't wear those 4 rings for nothing. He looked at a special building that resembled a forge.

He raised an eyebrow when he saw the forge. 'There was a blacksmith in that remote village?' thought Naruto. He didn't know exactly why, but his instinct told him to go there. He looked once at all the villagers and wondered if the blacksmith was still alive. The villagers were still grieving, so Naruto went to the forge.

As he stood in front of the open door, he could remember something. His eyes widened as he saw himself again when he was younger. In the memory he was standing in a forge and an elderly man was standing next to him.

"Are you training hard, Naruto?" the old man asked.

Naruto was 9 years old and nodded with a smirk . "Naturally! I will one day surpass Master Jiraiya and become the strongest swordsman in the kingdom!" Naruto said while puffing out his chest.

"Hmm... what are you doing here? With that announcement, one would think that you should be training rather than being here with an old man." the old man said with a slight grin.

Naruto's eyes widened. "What? No! I want to be able to maintain my own weapons and that's why I wanted to learn how to forge! Master Jiraiya can also forge and repair his equipment. He also made all his swords himself. I also want to be able to make my own swords! That's why you took me on as an apprentice after all, Master Hiruzen." Naruto said.

Hiruzen had to laugh a little. He put a hand on Naruto's head and stroked his head a little. "Don't worry my young student. I was just allowing myself a little fun."

Naruto pouted slightly and crossed his arms over his chest. He tried to look away and look offended, but Hiruzen's smile and stroking of his head was just too powerful. He couldn't help but return the old master blacksmith's warm smile. Jiraiya was like Naruto's uncle, but Hiruzen was like his grandfather. He learned so much from both of them and it was only because of them that he was able to laugh again after the death of his parents.

Of course, his life consisted only of training with the sword under Jiraiya or practicing blacksmithing under Hiruzen. He specifically wanted to specialize in weapons because he didn't like armor. He was just like Jiraiya in that sense. Jiraiya only wore normal clothes, although he could also wear armor. He didn't like the extra weight of the armor and against a strong opponent armor wouldn't do anything anyway. With magic or martial arts, armor wasn't worth mentioning. You were also faster without armor, and you could dodge better, which was more effective.

Although he was only training and practicing, he enjoyed his life and had a lot of fun. He probably didn't know anyone his age, but Jiraiya and Hiruzen were enough for him. He didn't need anyone else in his life. As long as he had Uncle Jiraiya and Grandfather Hiruzen, he was content.

"Let's go. Now it's your turn." Hiruzen said while stepping aside and Naruto stood in front of the oven. Naruto narrowed his eyes and looked at the glowing steel that was currently heating up in the furnace. Naruto grabbed the bellows lever and pulled it. New oxygen was added to the fire, causing the flames to grow bigger and stronger for a brief moment.

Naruto walked into the empty forge and looked around. It didn't look like the forge he remembered, but everything you could need was here. A furnace with bellows, an anvil, a shelf with many different hammers and tongs, several pieces of steel and other typical things that you could find in a forge. And of course, the cooling pool. He walked a bit through the forge and stood in front of the furnace. He put a hand on the edge of the stove and smiled slightly. The furnace was cold and otherwise there was a lot of dust in the forge.

Naruto looked around. 'It seems like nobody has worked here for a long time.' thought Naruto. All the formed steel that was processed also showed signs of rusting.

Naruto looked down at his katana and unsheathed it. He narrowed his eyes and placed it on the stone table that was in the corner of the forge. Naruto searched the forge and after a few minutes found everything he needed.

He spent the next hour tweaking his sword a bit. Luckily, he was able to find a whetstone that was still in good condition. He was thus able to sharpen the sword again and work out individual quirks that had arisen in the fight with the Death Knight.

But one thing was certain: this katana was nothing special. He would need a sword made of better material in the future. He would guess that his katana was made from regular steel and not a very hard one. There were already too many signs of use on the blade for that. Of course, the katana could also have been in use for several years. That would also explain the situation. Before noticing the condition of the sword, he hadn't had time to really pay attention to it. All the while his attention was occupied by other factors. Be it the confusion when waking up in the forest, the goblins or the story in the village afterwards. He hadn't had time to think about such things .

He also thought about how he would proceed from now on. He was able to calm down a bit while sharpening the sword. It would probably be best if he first got an overview. He should go to the village chief and ask him for information. Of course, only when the villagers had finished mourning. He was also glad that he could remember a little thing again. So, he was also a blacksmith, who mainly forged weapons. He could imagine that his current katana was his own. But that was unclear. He would actually have thought that after this memory he would only forge the best swords.

He just hoped he would remember other things as well. But at the moment his knowledge was enough for him. He could work with it and also help himself if necessary. He could fight and even perform another profession if necessary. He could take care of his own gear.

Naruto heard footsteps just as he finished sharpening his sword. He was holding it in front of him when the village chief himself came into the forge.

"Oh, here you are. I'm sorry it took me so long Naruto." The village chief said. Naruto had a brief chat with the village chief before. It was the village chief who approached Naruto first and spoke to him after the fight against the Death Knight.

The Village Chief had dark muscular skin and a face full of wrinkles making him look more than forty years. Since his robust body was forged through heavy manual labor and long experience, it can be seen that half his hair was already white.

At first the village chief had called him Lord Naruto, but Naruto had made it clear straight away that he only wanted to be called Naruto. Just like the others, he was only human and therefore nobody special. The village chief must have been uncomfortable, but he accepted Naruto's wish.

"Hello village chief. Sorry I just used the forge like that." Naruto said. He sheathed his sword and bowed once.

"No, it's all right. Are you a blacksmith too?" asked the mayor.

Naruto nodded. "Yes. I wasn't only trained in swordplay. I also learned how to forge. Although I specialize more in weapons and the like." Naruto said.

"I understand. 30 years ago, we had a blacksmith in our village. Back then, adventurers always came to the village to have their weapons or armor repaired here. But at some point, adventurers stopped coming and the blacksmith went to E-Rantel." the mayor explained.

"That would be the next thing…" Naruto explained to the village chief that he couldn't remember anything except what he knew about himself so far. He also explained to him that he knew nothing about the world and where he was anyway.

"Let's go to my house. My wife and I will explain everything you want to know. But I can already tell you the name of our village: This village is called Carne." said the village chief.

After a few minutes, Naruto was standing in the village chief's house. In the center of the room was a wooden table with a large map unfurled on it. On the map you could see all the countries and nations that were worth mentioning.

'Carne is part of the Kingdom of Re-Estize. We are in the southern part of the country and very far from the capital.' Naruto thought to himself as he listened to the mayor's explanation. 'So, I woke up in the great forest of Tob, which is right next to the village of Carne. 50 kilometers from here is the city of E-Rantel.'

E-Rantel was a fortress city under the domain of the Re-Estize Kingdom ruled by the King. E-Rantel was known for its production of recovery potions and possessed the largest concentration of pharmacists, more than any other city in the country.

A long time ago, it was said that there was once a powerful dragon that had the ability to control natural disasters that lived near the city. But that was a long time ago.

E-Rantel was considered a strategic location at the borders of the Empire, the Kingdom, and the Slane Theocracy. It was the frontline of the Kingdom's wars with the Empire, and had been designed to accommodate their military might.

E-Rantel was a place where many mercenaries and adventurers tended to be located at. It specialized in selling weapons and other items to these people and, among them, the trade in potions was quite brisk. Therefore, E-Rantel had more herbalists than a normal city. It was considered to be the nexus of trade and traffic between three human countries, with people, money, goods, and other things flowing freely through it. Because of that, the city was described as a large place to go to.

Additionally, there were two routes leading northeast to Carne Village from E-Rantel. One headed north, and then east along the outskirts of the forest. The other went eastwards, then north .

Naruto listened to the explanations of the village chief and his wife. But no matter how much he learned, he remembered nothing new. He had hoped to remember something from his past in the explanation. But even when the village chief named him as well as every important city, Naruto didn't remember anything.

'I should go to E-Rantel sometime.' thought Naruto. He still didn't know exactly what to do from now on. But now he at least had information about where he was and roughly how the world worked.

"I just thought of something." Naruto said as he looked at the map. He hadn't really thought about it until now, but now it struck him. "The knights had the crests of Baharuth on their shields, but the knights could have come from Slane to take advantage of the fighting between the kingdom and the empire." Naruto said.

"That could be. But why should Slane attack our village? There is nothing valuable in our village," said the mayor. The thought of Slane targeting Carne was not a pleasant thought.

"I don't know it. It is of course also possible that the knights really were from Baharuth. But that doesn't matter now, after all the knights are dead." Naruto said. He looked up and saw the village chief and his wife.

"I want to ask again… how can we reciprocate? You saved us all." said the village chief. Naruto had so far refused any payment because he didn't care about the reward. He had helped because he wanted to. He would never just look on in a situation like that.

Naruto sighed and looked at the mayor and his wife. 'They will probably never rest if I keep refusing.' thought Naruto.

"All right." Naruto said. The other two people in the room started to smile at the answer. Naruto looked at the mayor. "Unfortunately, I don't have any money, so I would like to have some money. Besides, I need new clothes." Naruto said. He looked at his clothes. In the fighting the clothes from Naruto were hit here and there. There were holes everywhere.

"Naturally! We will give you money and new clothes." said the village chief. His wife disappeared behind a door and the village chief went to a closet in the room. The knights went hardly in a house because most of the villagers had left their houses during the riot. That's why hardly anything was stolen from the houses. The village chief took a brown box from the cupboard and took it to the table. He opened and revealed several Gold Coins and Silver Coins .

In the World, four primary metals were utilized as the monetary standard and valued in increasing value: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. About 1/4 of the copper coins were made from brass. Platinum coins were rarely used with the exception of merchants and nobles. 13 copper coins were equal to one silver coin. 100 silver coins were equal to one gold coin and 10 gold coins were equal to 1 platinum coin.

Naruto also got completely new clothes. This clothing once belonged to a villager who was killed by a monster in the forest. Naruto changed his clothes while he thought about everything one more time.

A few minutes later he came back into the room where the mayor was already waiting for him. "It suits you Naruto." the mayor's wife said. Naruto looked at itself down. He now wore a black cloak with purple lining, and a grey, long-sleeved, collared shirt, over which he wore a periwinkle vest. He also wore black pants, a purple belt, and dark gray fingerless gloves. His brown sheath was on his backside now. (Author Note: Outfit from Adult Sasuke from Boruto with boots instead of sandals. For a visual example, just look at the cover Image.)

The black cloak covered most of it, but that wasn't so bad. Having a cloak that covered most of it was never a bad thing. Especially since that way potential opponents couldn't see where your arms and hands were.

Naruto looked at the two. "Thank you very much for the information, the money and the new clothes." He bowed once and then stood up again. He would now be able to go out of the village and visit other villages or towns.

But would this be correct? Maybe it would be better to stay in this village for a while and live here a bit. He was sure that the villagers wouldn't mind letting him live here. Especially considering the fact that he was a swordsman and a blacksmith. He could protect the village from dangers and maybe even work as a blacksmith here for a while to make some money. Of course, he would have to fix the forge and he would need steel from somewhere, but otherwise he could also help the village with it. There weren't many metal tools in the village. He probably specialized in weapons like swords, but he can also forge normal things like knives and forks.

"No, we have to thank you."

Naruto just smiled and accepted. He already got it... people saw him as their hero, and he should try not to disappoint the villagers by saying no to everything.

Naruto walked out of the house and looked around. Some people were already cleaning up the village. Although most of the houses were not damaged, fences that had been knocked down and other things were still everywhere on the ground.

Naruto walked a bit through the village and wondered if he should stay here or if he should go today. At least he had money now and it didn't take too long to get to E-Rantel. He would definitely make it to E-Rantel. With his strength, the normal monsters wouldn't be a problem either.

Now that he was wearing gloves, his rings could no longer be seen. This was an advantage because they looked special, and robbers could be aware of him. He was sure he could handle most of them, but who knows if there wasn't someone stronger than him among the raiders. However, the rings would now go better with his outfit.

This outfit looked a bit more expensive than his last clothes. He also wondered why the village chief hadn't given these clothes to other villagers or why he hadn't sold these clothes to someone. He was sure that these clothes were worth something. You would definitely get a lot of silver coins for the entire outfit or maybe even a gold coin. The cloak itself seemed to be made of a very special material. It was still a bit unfamiliar to have the sword behind you and not at your side, but that was ok. His sword wasn't seen that way, and that way he could be better prepared in the future without his opponents finding out about it.

Naruto stopped short when he heard a female voice. He looked sideways and could see a one of the girls, who he saved first. She was a fairly beautiful young girl in her mid-teens with lightly fair skin, with blonde hair and brown eyes. She wore woolen clothes and her hair tied into a braid.

"Hello, sorry to bother you." the girl said. Naruto recognized the girl. It was the older of the two girls he had rescued in the beginning. He smiled and shook his head briefly. "Don't worry, you're not disturbing me." Naruto said.

"My name is Enri Emmot and I wanted to say a thank you again. Without you I would have lost my little sister as well and would certainly have died myself." Enri said while bowing.

Naruto just smiled "No problem. I was happy to help and I'm glad you and your little sister are well. " Naruto said. He just got an idea and so he grabbed an item he was carrying in his pocket. His arm came out from under his black cloak and Enri looked at Naruto's hand.

"Here this is for you." Naruto said. He wouldn't need this item as he could defend himself and goblins were weaker than him. He would only have disadvantages by summoning a small army of goblins.

Enri took the horn in her hand and looked at Naruto a bit confused. "I don't know if I will stay in this village anymore, but I also want you all to be safe." Naruto said. "This item is called Horn of the Goblin General. If you blow this horn, a small army of goblins will appear and listen to your commands." Naruto said.

Enri's eyes widened when she heard this information. "I can never accept this precious item!" said Enri and held out the horn to him. Naruto just smiled while she was completely shocked. "This item is of no use to me myself. I'm strong enough and would rather have to protect the goblins and that would just defeat the horn's purpose. In the hands of the village, this item would do the trick." Naruto explained.

"You can also sell the item, but I would recommend you use it. The village could use all the help it can get right now, and a small army of goblins would help you a lot." Naruto said.

Enri was completely speechless and just looked helplessly at Naruto. She took her arm back and held the horn to her body. She tightened her grip on the horn, looking undecided. She just wanted to say thank you and then she got such a valuable item out of nowhere! What should she do now?

Naruto suddenly looked to the side as the village chief approached him. "Naruto, we need your help." the mayor said. He looked a little desperate. Naruto raised an eyebrow and turned to the village chief. "What's up?"

"I just found out that several knights are riding towards this village again." said the village chief. Naruto narrowed his eyes and just nodded. He looked briefly at Enri. "It's up to you what you do with it." Naruto said,

After that he went with the village chief to the others who were in the center of the village. Naruto gave the village chief his opinion. Naruto thought that all the villagers should go into their houses to be safe. It was not yet clear if they were enemy knights again or if they were knights from Re-Estize this time.

A few minutes later, Naruto and the village chief were standing next to each other, just waiting for the knights to appear. 'These knights are definitely not wearing the same armor as the knights who attacked the village earlier.' thought Naruto as he could see the knights in the distance.

Most of the knights stopped a good distance away from Naruto and the village chief, but a knight who looked a bit different rode forward and stood in front of Naruto and the village chief. He looked down at the two while he was still on his horse. "I am the captain of the Re-Estize Royal Guard. My name is Gazef Stronoff. The king sent us because of the enemy troops, which attacks villages around here. We move from one village to another, taking out any enemy that comes our way." Gazef said.

Gazef was a muscular man of around thirty years old and he had southern blood in his veins. He appeared to have a sunbathed dark face with noticeable wrinkles, short, trimmed, black hair, and black eyes that were as sharp as a sword. He was wearing a special armor, which was designed just for him. His armor protected him better than the normal armor of the most soldiers of the kingdom.

"We thought that we would be attacked again." said the village chief.

Gazef looked at the mayor "You must be the village chief of this village, but who are you?" Gazef asked while looking at Naruto. Naruto appeared to be in his mid-twenties and had a keen eye. Gazef recognized the look of a warrior in Naruto right away. He could barely see what Naruto was wearing at the moment because of his black cloak. He could only see the black pants and black boots.

"This man's name is Naruto Uzumaki, he saved our village from the knights who were here a few hours ago. He had also killed a huge skeleton with armor, sword and shield alone. We are all still alive because of him." the mayor explained.

Naruto bowed and introduced himself again. "I'm honored. My name is Naruto Uzumaki, I'm a swordsman…" Naruto only briefly told his story of how he woke up in the forest and what he remembered.

Gazef got off his horse as soon as he found out everything. He went to Naruto and held out his hand. "Thank you, Naruto Uzumaki. I'm sorry you don't remember much. Still, I thank you for protecting this village." Gazef said.

Naruto smiled. "It is a warrior's job to protect the weak." Naruto said. Gazef smiled and nodded. "I agree with you there."

Naruto could already tell he liked Gazef. He was a good man, and he had some inkling that he was a mighty warrior. He didn't know exactly how strong he was, but he didn't hold the title of Captain of the Royal Guard for nothing. Only the strongest warrior in the kingdom was usually offered this position. At least that's what he thought.

Both let go of each other's hands and a soldier came up to the three men. "Captain!" cried the soldier.

Gazef turned to the soldier. "We're going to have visitors. A large crowd of riders is headed straight for this village." said the soldier. Gazef narrowed his eyes at the soldier. Naruto narrowed his eyes too at hearing that.

,That cannot be a coincidence. First the knights showed up and attacked this village… by the sound of it, they were already attacking other villages on the border.' thought Naruto.

"What shall we do, captain?" asked the soldier.

"We will definitely protect this village!" said Gazef. He then looked Naruto straight in the eyes. He could see that look directly and smiled a little. "Will you help us?" asked Gazef.

"Of course." Naruto said with a determined look and a smile. Gazef nodded and then turned serious. "All right men, we're going to protect this village together and take care of these bastards!" Gazef shouted. His soldiers all cried out in cheers.
