This is a very short story I wrote many, many years ago, back in 2008 while I was in Basic. I only recently rediscovered it, and have decided to upload it here for posterity. It is about a child who becomes an orphan, and then a soldier; just one of trillions of identical forgotten tragedies playing out over and over again, all across the nightmare future of the 41st millennium.

Nine years in to the forty-second millennium, the wavering Imperium of Man struggles against the turmoil engulfing the galaxy. Larn, long demobilised and living under the radar, ekes out an existence with his old prison gang the Roaneks, until an unexpected message from an old associate reaches him, calling for one last favour.

For it is the darkest universe imaginable as all attempts to find common ground fall before a monster of such titanic proportions none may hope to grapple with it. Human stubbornness is a truly terrible thing.

She struggles to stay alive, using her vast knowledge about the Dark Eldar society and her sharp mind as her greatest assets. Will she be interesting enough to be more than just a torture slave? The premise of the story is thus: a guy from the modern world wakes up in the Warhammer 30k universe. Pretty basic, right? Here's the twist: he has no knowledge of Warhammer and is in possession of a heavily modified version of the Celestial Forge. Will he set the Galaxy ablaze? Will he laze around? Read to find out!
