In the interest of hitting the ground, running everything up to this point can be assumed as cannon.

Camila and Vee both arrive back to the Noceda home after a day full of surprises and revelations. As they exiting their car and it begins to rain gently, Luz appears by the light of the headlights of the car.

"Heh! Look what I can do with the rain! Vee! I'm so happy you're okay," excitedly exclames Luz while trying to high-five Vee to no success. "Woah."

"Yeah. Thank you, Camila. For everything," says Vee looking sheepish.

Camila looks at the poor basilisk she had come to care for. "Vee. You have a place here for as long as you need. And take these, as she hands Vee a deck of Hexes Hold 'Em cards from her handbag. Luz said they might be helpful for you."

"Magic," says Vee excitedly as she starts eating a few of the cards, while walking away.

Luz looks lovingly at her mom. "Mom, you were awesome back there! Thanks for being cool... about everything."

Camila turns to look at her little girl as she begins to cry. "I'm trying to hold it together... I really am... But I have never been this scared before. A demon realm? Magic? How are you gonna get back here? Is this the only way I can touch you?" As she attempted to hold Luz's hand it just phased through.

Luz looks away from her mom feeling ashamed of herself again. "I... I need a little more time, but if I keep working my hardest I will make a working portal, I promise!"

Camila chuckles slightly. "As scary as this is, it really does seem like you've matured."

"Yes! I've learned so much... Staying here was the best decision I ever made, excitedly says Luz trying to reassure her mom.

"You... chose to stay there?" Said an angry and hurt Camila.

"Oh, uh…" stammered Luz, knowing she had messed up.

"Were you trying to live out some witch fantasy? Did you... did you hate living with me that much?" cried Camila as tears began to flow again, feeling as though she had truly failed her.

"Mami, no!" yelled Luz as she felt the rope around her going taunt and begin to pull her away.

"No," crys Luz as she tries to pull herself back. "Not yet. Not... yet! Mom! I'm being pulled back!"

"Baby? No, no, no, no, no, no…" pleads the older Noceda.

When suddenly the rope seems to snap and Luz falls back in front of her mom.

Camila rushes to check on her, forgetting in that moment she still can't touch her.

"When you come home, promise you'll stay here. I didn't mean to push you away. I swear things will be different," begged Camila.

"Mom, it's not you, it never was," cried Luz as she tried to reassure her mother again. "I know why you wanted to send me to that summer camp. You wanted me to be 'normal' and have friends, but thats what you don't get mama. I made real friends here and they accept me for who I am. Willow, Gus, King, Eda…. Amity… they like me just the way I am. I'm happy here. The only reason I wanted to come back at all is because of you. We have made it through so much together and i couldn't bear to leave you alone."

"Mija…" whispered Camila as she looked into Luzs eyes.

"Maybe when I get a portal working you can come with me. You can meet eveyone yourself," smiled Luz as she looked back into her mothers eyes again pleading evident in her own. After a moment she looked away. "But if you still want me to come home after… I will. For you mami. I'll leave and never come back to the isles… I promise."

As the rain begins to peter out and Luz begins to fade. Camila whispers back. "Ok. Voy a tratar de mija. I'll try."

And Luz fades back to the between dimension. As she looks down and watchs as the cube she was using crumbles away she hears a sound like someone clearing there throat.

"King?" Questions Luz as she looks at the odd stranger standing not to far away. They kinda looked like King but older and there was a tiredness to his single eye. The other being empty except for a little worm-like 'thing' hanging out… Hooty? They had tattered bat wings and wearing one of Edas 'Bad Girl Coven' t-shirts and pajama pants that looked like they were covered in glyphs.

They began to laugh. "No. But he does get his good looks from me. I think King said it best once. I am both King and Queen, best of both things. Nice to meet you, Luz the Human."

"I can't believe this. You're King's dad… mom… parent!" Luz sputters.

As he continues to laugh, "Dad works fine, and I've been stuck here for quite some time. But at least I can keep an eye on my child. And those who have been kind to him."

"What is this place," questions Luz?

Kings dad looks at her warmly. "This is the space in between. Well, in between a lot of places," and as he says itof a floating block moments of Luz and King spending time together drifts by.

"How did you get stuck here? Oh My Titan, Kings going to be so excited when I tell him," declares Luz as she gets up and almost begins to dance around.

Kings dad looks away for a moment. "How I ended up here will have to wait for now I'm afraid. Suffice it to say, I made a mistake. I was willing to do anything to keep my kid safe, but I attacked the wrong person. As a result, I ended up leaving my little King all alone… but because of that he found a new family with you and Eda. I don't think I'll ever be able to thank both of you enough for that, and after watching you I think you might be the only one i can trust… I would like to make you an offer."

Back at the Owl house Eda, King, and Hooty are desperately trying to pull Luz back as the portal begins to melt and warp. All of a sudden the rope snaps and they fall back stunned and a little afraid. The portal bends and twists until it finally scrunches up and disintegrates with a quiet pop and a blinding flash of light. Once they can see again they look back to where the portal was and all they see is a scorch mark and in it not moving is their favorite human. They quickly rush over to make sure she's ok and thankfully they find her only unconscious. As King tries to shake Luz it quickly becomes clear she's not waking up.

"Quickly King/Hooty help me get her in the house. I need to give her a more thorough check-up. Hopefully she just needs some rest," states Eda, more than a little concerned but trying to keep calm for both of them.

The next day Gus and Willow are sitting outside Hexside feeling a bit concerned themselves.

"Hey Willow, have you seen Luz at all today? I know she said her and Eda where going to try and make a portal yesterday, but I haven't seen or heard anything since."

"No Gus, I haven't seen her either. I hope she's ok."

"Well I for one am going over to the Owl house right now to check on my awesome girlfriend. You guys are welcome to come with me if you want," says Amity as she races down the stairs and away from the school.

After sharing a look both of them follow their cotton candy haired friend.

It's not long before the trio make it outside their destination, but not without noticing how eerily quiet it is. Almost as if something is horribly wrong. With that thought evident in all three's minds they continue to rush to the door to knock.

It seems to take an uncomfortable amount of time but eventually Hooty snakes around to see who's there.

"Hoot. Hoot friends. What are you doing here," hooted Hooty noticeably less enthusiastically than normal.

"Hooty, we're here to check on Luz. None of us have heard anything and she wasn't at school," answered Amity, getting more worried by the second.

Hooty seems to think for a minute and then audibly sigh/hoots, "You had better come in then. Everyone is upstairs in Luz's room."

With that all three of them hurry inside and up to Luz's room. Upon getting there they see the door open with Luz laying on her futon with a rag on her head being doted on by Eda and Lilith while King holds her hand.

"OMT Eda what happened? Is Luz ok?" questioned Willow, visibly shaken.

"Goops, Willow, Boots… what are you doing here? What the hell Hooty. Eh, I don't know kids. We were trying out her portal yesterday and… I don't know what happened. One second everything is fine and then the line snaps, the portal evaporates, and she… she hasn't woken up since. I checked on her this morning and she had a fever. She's stable but nothing any of us have tried has done much. At this point we are just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible and hope she wakes up," explained Eda, whom everyone can see is clearly terrified.

At this news everyone just shares a look as they all join the Clawthornes and try to help in any way they can.

As the sun begins to set on the Owl house Luz begins to stir. At first she doesn't recognize where she is. Her body feels so sore and there's a wait on her chest. As her eyes begin to adjust she swears she sees her mom.

"Mom? How are you here? Did you follow me back through the portal? Why am I so sore and my chest feels heavy?"

"No Luz. It's me, Eda. We don't know what happened. We were kind of hoping you'd tell us, but the weight on your chest is bossy boots. She's refused to leave your side since she got here two days ago."

"Are you telling me I've been out for two days?" asked Luz, still a little groggy.

"Actually you've been down for three, but just a minute. I think everyone will want to see your ok," Eda yells and stomps on the floor.

It's then that Luz notices everyone else. King was cuddled up in the crook of her left arm. Willow,Gus, and even Lilith then could be heard hurriedly running up the stairs. What Luz was focused on though was the face of her girlfriend as she slowly woke up and she looked into her golden eyes.

"Good morning hermosa."

At that Amity just staired, tears forming at the corners of her eyes, as she hugged the person she loved most in this realm or any other.

About fifteen minutes later after everyone was awake and someone had gotten something for Luz to chew on and a drink the explanation began. Luz did her best to explain what had happened after she entered the portal. She filled them in on Vee and her mom, and most of all she told them about her promise to her mom. At first everyone was quiet at the news until Amity spoke up.

"You're really serious about leaving the demon realm aren't you," she says as Luz looks away ashamed.

"In that case, if you leave I'm coming with you," stated Amity confidently. "The last few days I thought I lost you and I swear to Titan I refuse to ever go through that again if I can. Tu est me botata and if I have to chase after you I will."

"Don't worry kid. When your mom gets a chance to meet all of us there's no way she won't let you stay. And even if she doesn't we will still know how to make a portal by then. We will come visit. Remember, us weirdo gotta stick together," reassured Eda as everyone else nodded along.

At that Luz just looked around at her friends… the family she found and crying a bit put her arms out for a group hug, but as everyone was busy hugging out there emotions knowone noticed as her eyes turned black and her brown pupils started to softly glow for a few seconds.

Once everyone separated Luz went back to her story.

"After the cube/window thing disappeared I noticed someone else was there. I think they might have been your dad King, but that's where everything starts getting fuzzy. I can't really remember much after that. I know we talked about something important but… it's just gone. I'm sorry King and after that I woke up here," Luz apologized.

"Don't worry Luz. We found him once. We can do it again. I'm just happy you're ok, but if you really want to make it up to me… the king of demons will accept scriches as tribute," King declared as he curled up in her lap again.

"So did I miss anything fun while I was out," asked Luz.

"Well there was the Coven day parade but none of us really paid much attention to that. Emperor Belos showed everyone his face though. Kind of unimpressive if you ask me," answered Gus.

"Raine, Eda's ex, is still acting as bard coven head,"answered Lilith.

"Ya that still doesn't make any sense to me. They formed a rebel group and everything last time I saw them… kid don't look at me like that," Eda said, clearly uncomfortable about the look she was giving her.

"OMT, Eda I need all the details. I need that juicy backstory," Luz said, positively vibrating with excitement.

Eda just sighed.

Ok, so I guess these are my notes.

Firstly, to anyone who took the time to read this, Thank You. Im still very new to this and tbh I haven't even tried to write anything in many years. Any reviews or notes are appreciated.

Second, I want to be up front and honest. While I have every intent to write this to whatever end we end up with, Im not a strong writer and the last time I tried a project like this it fell apart. Initially my hope was to inspire someone else so that they could take my idea and do it justice, but at this point I'm really loving this and I'll do my best to bring it to life myself. Btw not entirely sure yet if this will stay pure Owl House or not. I'm still debating throwing in some Amphibia later. Your reviews could tip the scales.

Lastly, I just want to give a shout out to all the amazing stories that inspired me to give this a try. So if you haven't read "Maybe Next Time", "A True Family", or "Brought to a Boil" I strongly suggest you do. They and others really touched my heart and gave me the confidence to try.
