1Azur Lane Arctic Command: Reinstated
Special Announcement 01: Community Vote
Hey, its me, twocubed
All of the people who have enjoyed the first chapter of this story may have been wondering where have I've been for the past several months. Truth be told, life caught up to me and my confidence and motivation to write stories have been hampered. After spending some time, even taking a crack at writing some stories for the Summoning Japan fandom (no I will not tell you where), I think I'm ready to take a swing at this universe once again.
Most of you don't know this... but I've been building the world where the story takes place in for the past 2 or so years. Before Operation Siren, before Azur Lane had any concrete lore aside from "boat hot", I was already working on this project behind the scenes. ROSWO, the first fic on my account, is my early attempt to truly explore the world that I had built, and trust me, a lot has changed since then. Over the years, I have truly gotten attached to the world that I had built, the scenarios and the events, the characters. And now... I want to properly share them with all of you. But, not in this fanfiction. The Arctic Command chain of events... it's the wrong place to start.
So, to those of you reading this... I will give you a decision. You will be the ones to determine where I start writing this universe. And so... I give you three story pitches. They will all be written eventually, but your choice here determines where the story starts.
1. The Great Game
"The room was lit ablaze
Lieutenant Commander Rayleigh Adams took a deep breath and opened his eyes, which only resulted in the dark, thick smoke filling his lungs and forcing him to cough. Teary eyed, the young man opened his eyes and looked around the CIC of the Lady Luck, seeing his comrades-in-arms laying down on the floor at best, and at worst... Rayleigh didn't even want to think about it. Hell, he didn't even know if the ones in an acceptable state were dead or alive, with his mind too busy processing what just happened to notice any of the minor details that would have hinted towards their status.
For a few moments, he didn't stand. The boy was simply frozen, his chest was throbbing with pain and his eyes were beginning to tear up even more, admittedly not just because of the smoke. Though he would not say it, his thoughts were clear.
"Someone, please help me!"
That help would not come, and instead what came was a cacophony of discordant radio transmissions from multiple different consoles, some with clear audio and others playing nothing but meaningless, garbled noise from their destroyed speakers. The invasive and chaotic bellow entered Rayleigh's ears, further increasing the amount of distress he was experiencing.
Rayleigh was scared
Rayleigh was alone
And he didn't know what to do"
As they investigate a distress signal, the Crew of the Lady Luck is mysteriously attacked by a group of Ironblood warships, forcing them to escape into a Mirror Sea. Heavily damaged from thier bout, Lieutenant Commander Rayleigh Adams is left as the highest ranking officer not incapacitated from the attack. Not knowing what is going on, he know has to lead his crew, find allies and escape the predicament that they are in. But not before they find a strange ship, floating just over the horizon.
Setting: Crimson Axis Schism
Something different compared to most other AL fics, but this will be very light on the ship-girl interaction considering the premise and what I have in mind for the story.
2. Ramblings of a Surface Warfare Officer: Reloaded
"Help" someone screamed "Help me!"
Rayleigh recognized that voice immediately. It was the voice of Illustrious. But why... why was she here?
Rayleigh held up his pistol, his hands shaking as he gripped the weapon in his hand. The young boy was shaking, every part of his body was absolutely horrified at what possibilities lay beyond that corner. Nevertheless, he steeled himself. He couldn't just let someone he knew die like that. Not to mention... if he did die, then at least he'd look cool in front of his crush.
Rayleigh peeked the corner, holding out his weapon in front of him. His false confidence shattered as instead of the beautiful visage of Illustrious, it revealed the form of one of the murder robots that had been hunting him.
He could almost see the damn thing grin as its speakers let out an ear piercing bellow...
"I FOUND YOU"
The story of the life of Commander Rayleigh Adams and how he fought the Voidspawn. The story that chronicles his rise, his relationships, his hopes, dreams, triumphs...
And most importantly... how he failed to save humanity
SETTING: Pre-Main Timeline
tbh this one starts a bit too early and contains a lot of spoilers for later in the series... but if enough people are interested in it I will seriously consider it.
3. Fleet Command
Matthew stood nervously in front of the round table twelve eyes attentively placed on him. These people were considered Azur Lane's bigshots and some of humanity's greatest heroes in recent times. There's no way that he couldn't be nervous.
As he presented himself to Azur Lane's High Command, Admiral Olivia McMillan began to speak
"This is Commander Matthew Williams" she began "He is a veteran of the Atlantic Campaign and has proven himself to be a capable commander, I have no doubt that his ability could be increased further. Not to mention, he has clocked in the highest Wisdom Cube Compatibility score ever recorded at one hundred percent. We all know that pairing KANSEN assets with high-WCC commanders gives them a significant boost in performance! So, it is in my belief that concentrating our KANSEN assets under him will give us a significant advantage!"
"Wait what!" he exclaimed "There's no way I can do that!"
"You can learn" Olivia retorted "Right? Admirals"
Most of the admirals on the Admiralty Board gave Olivia shrug and some nervous head nods, all of them seemingly torn on whether this plan was good or not. There was however, one admiral who seemed very vocal with his opnion.
"Olivia, I apologize for being unprofessional" said Rayleigh Adams, the Admiral in charge of Azur Lane's Arctic forces "But your plan is fucking idiotic"
Matthew Williams finds himself boasting a wisdom cube compatibility of one hundred percent, the highest ever recorded, which causes one Admiral Olivia McMillan to vouch for him being the commander of all of Azur Lane's KANSEN assets. Despite his doubts in himself and the doubts of his superiors, he ends up the victim of a compromise. Will Matthew Williams be the Commander that humanity needs, or will he end up crashing and burning?
Setting: Post Crimson Axis Schism
Now, this one is definitely the most generic sounding out of all of the descriptions I have put forth so far, but Fleet Command is a story that I think has a lot of potential. Rayleigh may not be the main character, but making him a major supporting role I think only enhances the twists and turns that I have in plan for him, as well as exploring a new character in the form of Matthew and his journey from somewhat capable frontline combatant to the Hero of Azur Lane
So these are the pitches. Please help me decide i am very indecisive. I will also try to get these out as soon as possible, though with how life is right now... no promises. Make sure to leave a review of which story would you like to see told.
this has been twocubed. Do not worry, i am not going out for milk.
