Chapter 25: A Flurry Coming Part 2

"Cadance, what's wrong?" Shining Armor asked.

"I...I think the baby's coming." Cadance told.

Hearing that made Shining Armor, Twilight, and Spike freeze.

"Now? Are you serious?" Twilight piped up.

"What are we gonna do?" Spike wanted to know.

"All right, all right calm down everyone." Shining Armor urged.

Then he turned his attention towards his wife.

"Honey, are you having any contractions?"

"Not yet, but don't worry we have some time." Cadance replied.

"Okay, now we need to find a ride."

"Maybe we should go back to Spearhead's house, and ask if we can borrow his car." suggested Twilight.

"Good idea, Twilight."

Shining Armor helped Cadance out of the car, and they walked back to Spearhead's house.

Luckily, Spearhead was able to lend them their his car.

"Thanks again Spearhead." Shining Armor said.

"It's no problem. "I'll call someone about your car and give the information to you." Spearhead told him.

They all piled into the car, and drove off.

"How're you doing Cadance?" asked Twilight.

"I'm fine." Cadance replied.

Just then a contraction hit her, and she started breathing. Twilight, Shining Armor, and Spike all looked at her concerned.

"Don't worry...(breaths), I'm still fine."

They continued on, but then they came to another obstacle. They ran into some traffic, and according to a sign it was due to an accident.

"Oh no, this isn't good." Cadance observed.

"Any idea how long it'll take to get through this?" Spike wondered.

Shining Armor looked at the sign, and saw that it read 15-20 minutes. This wasn't going to work, Cadance needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

Just then, Twilight saw a familiar face out the window. It was Pinkie Pie with her family in their car, and it looked like they were getting ready to pull of the road. She quickly rolled down the window, and shouted her name.

Pinkie heard the voice, and saw Twilight.

"Hey, Dad stop the car for a minute." Pinkie told.

The car did, and she got out, as did Twilight.

"Hey, Twilight. This is a surprise." "Pinkie, is your family getting off this road?"

"Yeah, my dad knows another way."

"Listen we need your help. Cadance is in labor, and we need to get her to the hospital."

Pinkie looked back at the car Twilight came out of, and saw Shining Armor, Cadance, and Spike.

"Say no more Twilight."

Pinkie told her parents about the situation, and they allowed Shining Armor to follow them.

They drove down another road, and things were once again going smoothly. When they got close to different roads, they stopped for a minute.

"Thanks again, Mr. Pie." Shining Armor told him.

"It is no problem." replied Igneous Rock Pie.

"Be sure to call me when the baby's born, Twilight!" Pinkie shouted.

"Don't worry, I will." Twilight called back.

And they went down the separate roads.

"Whew, glad we ran into your friend, Twilight." said Cadance.

"So am I."

"Are you okay, Cadance?" Spike questioned.

"Don't worry, the contractions are still pretty far apart." Cadance assured.

Things were going fine, but then they hit another snag. The gas tank signal, began flashing.

"Uh oh. We're almost out of gas." Shining Armor informed.

"(Sighs), well this baby sure picked a good day to come." Twilight complained.

"You said it, Twilight." Cadance agreed, rubbing her belly.

Just then, another contraction hit her. She cringed, and began breathing.

"Hold on, Cadance. We just have to get more gas." Shining Armor assured.

They drove around, and then found a gas station.

"Oh, what luck." Shining Armor sighed.

He pulled into it, but to his shock and horror, all the stations were out of gas, and the store was closed.

"Oh no." whispered Spike.

"This can't be happening." groaned Shining Armor.

Luckily, phone service was back, and Twilight was able to get on the Internet.

"It looks like the nearest hospital is about forty-five minutes away."

"That's great, Twilight. But without enough gas we may get stuck on the side of the road." Shining Armor told her, as he tried to comfort Cadance.

Just then, Twilight heard a familiar sound coming towards them. They all saw Granny Smith's truck. Thinking quickly, Twilight and Spike dashed out of the car, and began waving them down. When Granny saw them, she quickly stopped the truck.

Applejack poked her head out of the window.

"Twilight, Spike what are ya'll doing here?"

"Applejack, Cadance is in labor, we're almost out of gas, the station's closed, and the hospital is still a ways away." Twilight explained breathlessly.

"Can you help?" Spike asked.

"Well luckily, we always keep a spare gallon of gas in the back." Granny told them.

They drove into the station, and Applejack filled their tank.

"Thanks for this, Granny Smith and Applejack." Shining Armor said.

"Not a problem, ya'll. Now you get to the hospital." she replied.

And with that they were off again.

Twilight got on the phone with her parents and informed them of the situation and where they were.

"We'll get there as soon as we can, Twilight." Night Light on the other line.

As she hung up, they pulled into the hospital parking lot. After parking, Shining Armor helped Cadance out of the car, and they all went inside, except for Spike who had to stay outside.

After getting checked in a nurse brought a wheelchair for Cadance and escorted the couple up to another floor.

In the waiting room, Twilight was texting her friends about the baby coming. A couple minutes later, Twilight Velvet and Night Light arrived.

"Twilight, do you know what's happening?" Twilight Velvet wanted to know.

"They went up a while ago, so far nothing." she informed.

They all continued waiting, and about an hour later, a doctor came into the room.

"Anyone here with Shining Armor and Cadance?" she asked.

The three quickly stood up.

"We are." said Night Light.

"Cadance is doing very well, and has just given birth to a healthy girl."

The three were filled with joy, when they heard that.

"You can go up and see them."

"I'll be right there." Twilight told her parents.

She hurried outside to tell Spike.

"Twilight, what's going on? Did Cadance have the baby?" he wanted to know.

"Yes, Spike. I'm an aunt now, she had a girl."

"Oh boy." said Spike wagging his tail.

Up in her hospital room, Cadance was lying in bed, wearing a green hospital gown, and holding her new baby.

"You were great, Cadance." Shining Armor told her softly.

"Thanks, it was hard but worth it." Cadance replied, as she rocked the baby.

The door slowly opened, and the rest of the family came in.

"Hey." Night Light greeted quietly.

Shining Armor invited them over to see the baby. Twilight looked and saw that the baby was pink, had tufts of purple and blue hair, and had blue eyes.

"She's beautiful." she observed.

"Come to your grandma." Twilight Velvet urged.

Cadance carefully handed her her new granddaughter.

"So what's her name?" Night Light wanted to know.

"Well we decided to name her, Flurry Heart." Cadance informed.

"Because of the weather." Shining Armor mentioned.

"Speaking of which looks like it's starting to snow again." Twilight informed.

And sure enough out the window, a flurry was coming down.
