Kendall POV
Ugh-- I have a headache.
Why is everything so dark?
Am I dead?
No-- no I don't think I'm dead..
Is it still dark outside?
But I could feel the warmth of the sun on my skin.
Where am I then?
Where is everyone?
Where is Logan?
Logan.
My eyes fluttered open, the light from the window blinded me, making me cover my face with my hand. I sat up but softly hissed feeling a small pain in my right shoulder, looking over to see it wrapped in a bandage. Blinking again, I looked forward, my breath finally came to an ease. Logan sat calmly at the edge of the bed, messing with his hands as I assumed he was waiting for me to wake up. I notice that he was wearing an undershirt, he also had a bandage around the top of his arm.
"Does it hurt?", I asked, making him quickly turn towards me. I could see an expression of relief on his face. "It doesn't look too bad from over here but I should check it to--", suddenly I was interrupted by a hug, wrapping his arms around my waist to avoid my shoulder and laid his head on my left side.
"I'm so happy you're okay..", Logan mumbled into my neck, pulling away before kissing me softly.
It felt so good to feel his touch again.
I winced at the sudden pain in my head, my headache still at large. "Ah-- my head is pounding.", I hissed, sitting up a little more looking around, now noticing that we're in our house. "H-how did we get here?", I asked.
"We've been back for hours babe, you've been knocked out since last night..", Logan said.
I looked back at the clock, reading the time 1:34pm.
"We started to get worried, but John said that you'd be alright. He even said he's seen you look worse..", Logan chuckled.
"John? Wait everyone--is everyone?", I started trying to get up, Logan stopped me.
"Everyone is fine. James and Carlos were treated quickly, Leah had the worst of it due to her previous injuries and is now on bedrest, but she has insisted to be here when you woke up.", he said, shaking his head.
I felt the weight lift off my shoulders.
Good-- everyone was alive, which meant--
"Y-your dad, he had a gun-- is he?"
"Dead babe, he's gone.", Logan assured, giving a small smile.
I sighed with relief, looking back at my husband with the biggest smile.
"Good.", I muttered, softly laying back on our bed's headboard.
"You think you can get out of bed? You've got a few people waiting for you..", Logan mentioned.
With a smile, I threw the covers off of me, exposing my bare chest and wearing a pair of sweatpants. I went to stand, Logan then quickly ran over to my left side, helping me up.
"I'm alright Logie, I can walk on my own.", I chuckled.
"I'm just making sure you don't move it too much or the healing process will take much longer.", he said, a bit of concern in his tone.
I chuckled to myself, we now walking towards the room door.
Walking down the stairs, I could suddenly hear warm laughter emanating from the kitchen. The smell of fresh bacon filled the room as the bright afternoon sun bled through our windows. I watched as everyone conversed with one another. I notice James and Carlos in the kitchen, flipping over pancakes and completing the stack on Jett's plate, he now giving a happy grin. John and Dak both sat on the island stool, eating their food as they spoke to one another, a chuckle leaving both their lips. Over on the couch, Nai and Lucy spoke to one another, hypnotized with their own conversation. I could see a smile growing on Nai's face.
Wow.. I don't think I've ever seen them smile that big before-- I don't think I've seen either of them smile at all.
I slowly looked down, Leah laid upright on the couch, she speaking quietly to Willow who was sitting closely next to her, nodding along. I noticed the small bruises on her face and how she's only able to turn her neck towards her spouse. A bandage was completely wrapped around her chest all the way down to her stomach, a grey open sweater wrapped around her shoulders.
"Leah..", I said, making her turn her head. Her eyes grew wide then slowly began to water, her face scrunching with a big grin, making me do the same.
Leah let out a relieved cackle, tears falling down her cheeks. "Oh my god...", she chocked out, a relieved laugh escaped her lips, making her cry even more.
Everyone had finally given me their full attention, they all quiet, but giving a warm and relieved smile. I walked over to Leah, who still attached to the couch, following my steps until I sat down next to her. Leah still looked as if she was holding back her tears.
"O-oh my god, you're alive.", she muttered.
"Did you really think I wasn't going to make it?", I asked a bit of sarcasm in my voice.
"Yes! You asshole--", she said, a small chuckle escaping both of our lips.
I looked back at Willow, a small smile on their face. "It's good seeing you man..", they whispered, giving me a dap with my left hand.
I looked back at Leah, tears still flowing down her face. "How do you feel?", I asked.
"Like a fucking brick finally fell off my chest!", Leah sighed out heavily, making everyone chuckle.
"And your back?", I asked.
Her expression dropped a little, she now kissing her teeth.
"I recommended a month of bedrest, which means she'll finally have to call in her sick days.", Willow said.
"Which I really don't want to do!", Leah said.
"Shut it Leah! You can barely move your arms..", Nai shouted, making Leah give her cousin a death stare.
"They're right Leah, you need your rest.", Logan added.
"But what about everything we've missed in the last couple of days? All the paperwork, emails, manual updates-- I can't even imagine the amount of factory orders we have to catch up on..", Leah rambled.
"You were almost beaten to death by Logan's psychotic, homophobic father and you're worried about work?", Jett asked truthfully, stuffing a piece of pancake in his mouth.
Leah blinked, her eyes now full of range. "I swear to God if that bootleg Troy Bolton doesn't shut it, I won't be the only one put on bedrest..", she gritted.
"Was I the only one thinking it?", Jett asked again, looking around at the crowd.
Leah's throat let out a growl. "You are so lucky I can't move my body right now..", she spat. She laid her head back, looking up towards the ceiling.
"No Jett-- it's just not a good time man..", Dak muttered, shaking his head a bit in shame.
"I mean I'm just saying, it'd be kind of stupid to jump back in so early you know?", Jett shrugged nonchalantly, taking a bite of his pancakes.
"Oh my fucking god..", Leah gritted.
James finally slaps him in the back of the head, making Jett wince in pain.
"Dude..", Carlos said, giving a death glare, Jett shrugged dramatically.
"As insolent as Jett sounds, he's right babe. Everything we'll be fine.", Willow said, taking her hand softly.
"What about the weekly schedule? We'd have to reschedule all the meetings that we'd miss, make sure the equipment has come in on time--", Leah suddenly gasped. "Oh my god, I can't even imagine how behind we are on shipments--", Leah said.
"Don't worry about any of that. Kendall and I will take over until you've recovered.", Logan mentioned, placing his hand on my shoulder with a smile.
Leah looks up at him."B-But what if you need fresh cup of coffee in the morning or a last minute meeting appears and I can't be there to tell you? W-what if something happens and I'm not there? I--"
"Hey..", I placed my hand on hers, she looked over at me again. "It's over Leah, you don't have to fight anymore.", I reassured.
She sat silently, her tears growing bigger. A soft sob escaped her lips. "I wanna hug you-- so bad right now!", she sobbed out, gaining laughter from everyone.
The fight was finally over.
As the day suddenly turned night, everyone began to pack their things and leave back to their homes. Dak, Lucy and Jett begin to say their last goodbyes to their friends.
"I see you guys around then?", Dak asked, dapping up James.
"We'll make sure to come down and visit you..", Carlos smiled, watching as Dak walked over to him, giving him a big bear hug.
Lucy picked up her suitcase, she now facing towards Nai who was walking closer to her. "You feeling alright?", she asked Nai.
Nai cleared their throat, stuffing their hands in the front pockets. "Satisfied. I got everything I needed-- well, almost everything..", they said, making Lucy give a curious look. Her stare suddenly making Nai slightly nervous. "I was thinking maybe a way we could keep in contact, you know just in case you need a favor..", Nai said, clearing their throat again. They picked up their duffle bag from the floor.
Lucy chuckled, rolling her eyes. "Just-- give me your phone..", she muttered.
Nai smiled, pulling out their phone, opening the contacts. Lucy quickly typed in her number, saving it under her name with a black heart.
"I wouldn't mind finishing the rest of our conversation tonight, if you're not busy.", Lucy shrugged, handing their phone back towards them.
"I can never be too busy for you, mon amour.", Nai muttered, making a smile grow on their face.
Lucy doing the same, they both walking opposite ways, while Lucy walked towards the front door, Nai stopped before Leah and Willow. Nai dapped Willow, keeping their stare. "Take care of her please? Cause I don't want to have to come back up here and break all the bones in your body.", Nai said with an evil smirk. Willow gave a nervous chuckle, looking between them and Leah.
"Are you sure you wouldn't just like to come stay with us?", Leah asked Nai. They sat on the couch close to her.
"I'm sure Leah, I'm good where I am. I got a place to live, food in my fridge and money coming from somewhere. But I'm not too far, I'll try and come and see you, okay?", Nai asked, making Leah nod. Nai leaned forward, kissing Leah's forehead softly. "Je t'aimerai toujours grand cousin..", they wished, pulling away.
"Love you..", Leah muttered, watching as Nai and John finally walked away.
Lucy approached Kendall and Logan with the rest of his team. "Thank you again for doing this for us guys. I don't know how I could repay you..", Kendall said, dapping Dak and Jett, then lastly dapping Lucy.
"Just think of it as a favor.", Lucy winked, Kendall rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face.
"I'll be sure to send over your favorite strains next week..", Kendall nodded, getting Lucy to smile.
"You're a good man Knight.", she smirked, finally looking over at Logan.
"Thank you for everything, I really appreciate it.", Logan mentioned.
"Of course Logan, it's just what family does for one another.", she smiled.
Logan smiled back, they both giving each other a warm hug.
They waved as they walked out, Logan looked over to see John and Nai dapping Carlos and James before walking over to them. John went straight towards Kendall, dapping his left hand.
"Thank you again John.", Kendall said.
"You don't have to thank us, you guys made sure the job was done.", John said, taking a glance at Logan. "You've seem to have got yourself a resilient husband Ken.", John said with a smile, Logan smiled back nodding in his direction.
Logan looked towards Nai, they giving a quiet stare. "I know we didn't start on the greatest foot but--"
Nai raised their hand, making Logan stop talking, a shaky sigh passed his lips. They looked him stare in the eyes and nodded. "Tu n'as pas à me remercier. La seule personne que vous devez remercier est mon cousin. Elle a passé 6 ans de sa vie à te protéger de ce meurtrier, je m'attends à ce que tu consacres le reste de ta vie à protéger la sienne.", they said in a serious tone. Logan nodded, looking down a bit for a moment. "Mais de moi--", Nai said, their voice cracking a little, Logan noticed a slight tremble in their body. "Si mes pères étaient ici avec moi, ils vous remercient pour tout ce que vous avez fait pour ma famille.", they muttered out, trying their best to hold back their tears.
Before Logan could speak, Nai engulfed him in a hug, something no one has ever seen Nai do. Still in a bit of disbelief, Logan hugged them back. "Merci de la protéger. Merci de m'avoir sauvé.", they whispered, making Logan hold them a little tighter. Leah's eyes watered again, awing at a beautiful moment between the two people that she loves.
Before Logan could say anything, Nai quickly pulled away, wiping the tears off their face. "Uhm-- we can go now.", they said, now looking back at John.
With a smirk, John shook his head, letting the both of them out. With a last wave, Kendall closed the door behind them.
Kendall looked back at his husband, a soft sigh passing his lips as Logan also wiped his eyes from the tears forming in them.
"So we're done? We can go back to work and smoking, unless someone else in this room has a psychotic family member we don't know about?", Carlos joked, walking towards the living room to where Leah and Willow are sitting.
James walked behind him with a piece of bacon in his hand. "Nope-- well, I hope I don't. I don't know how much more fight I have left in me.", James sighed, laying back on the couch next to the other side of Leah, she chuckled, messing with his hair a bit.
"No-- I have a good feeling this time we're done.", Willow chuckled.
Logan watched Leah expression. She looked down with a pondering stare, making him tilt his head over. "Leah..", he said, making him walk over towards the couch. "You okay?", he asked.
Leah still continued to look down, her eyes a bit watery. "I've spent the last 6 years making sure that your father wouldn't find any of this out. Now that he's gone--I--I wonder if you guys really need me--"
Logan was a little taken aback. "What? Leah..", he said, placing his hand on her knee.
"I mean it Logan. From the moment I stepped into that office, my goal was to protect you. Now that Steven's gone, you don't need it anymore. You were strong all on your own..", she muttered, her eyes still watering.
"Then stop trying to Leah.", he said, making Leah look deeply into his eyes. "My dad is gone, there's nothing to protect me from anymore.", he leaned in a bit closer, grabbing her hand softly. "I'm not asking you to be my protector, all I need you to be is my assistant and my best friend.", Logan smirked.
"Hey!", Carlos whined playfully, making Leah and Logan chuckle.
"One-- of my best friends.", Logan corrected himself, then looking back at Leah. "Could you do that for me?", he asked her.
With tears now pouring down her cheeks once again. She nodded without saying a word. "Thank you Leah, for everything.", he whispered.
A small laugh escaped her lips. "I really-- want to hug you right now, God this sucks!", she chuckled, making the rest of the group do the same.
"After you're all healed, you can hug to your heart's content.", Willow mentioned, kissing their wife on the cheek.
Logan finally pulled away from Leah, who was now looking towards Willow and Carlos, she still playing a little with James' hair. He turned to see his husband looking down at him with a smile.
Logan sighed. "I'm really happy everyone is okay..", he said, stepping closer to his husband.
"Everyone made it home as promised, with a gunshot wound but we're here.", Kendall joked.
Logan grazed his finger tips over the bandage. "We're lucky the bullet didn't hit anything important. I really thought I lost you.", he muttered, his head dropping a little.
Kendall softly lifted it up, making his husband look into his eyes once again. "You could never lose me baby..", he said, kissing his lips softly.
Kendall took a moment to appreciate his husband. The man he has now went to hell and back for and was willing to do it all over again if he truly had to. He adore this man, and he adored the new and peaceful life that was coming towards them. Kendall raised his eyebrows a little to a thought, a small smile growing on his lips.
"What?", Logan asked in curiosity.
Kendall sighed. "Well, the fight is over and after confirming that no one else has a growing vendetta against anyone here--", he started, taking his left arm and wrapping it around Logan. "I'm sure now-- we can finally take a look at some family building options..", Kendall suggested with a grin. Logan looked up at his husband with excitement.
"Really?", Logan asked quietly with a smile, making Kendall nod with confirmation. "Y-you don't have to if you're still not ready--", Logan started.
"No babe. I'm serious, I'm ready..", Kendall smiled.
Logan's feelings overwhelmed him, making tears roll out of his eyes, a big grin on his face. "I love you!", he shouted, instinctively hugging Kendall around his waist. The hard impact still irritated Kendall's shoulder but he didn't care. He hugged his husband back as tightly as he could, he could feel his eyes sting from the tears growing in them.
Kendall was finally at ease. He wasn't sure if it was the life that flashed before his eyes as he got shot was the reason or if he truly believed nothing or no one else could come for them. But from that moment on, he understood that he only had one life to live, and if he was going to survive every fight he's ever been in, he was going to make sure he was living his life to its fullest potential.
A life with a man he truly loves and anyone else that joins them along the way.
Kendall wasn't just ready, he was so much more than that.
Hellooooo, I actually liked this chapter a lot, but that is a sign that the next-- is the last. Please go ahead on and enjoy!
