Ed's Ram SRT-10 rolls into a gravel parking lot, where a red headed woman waits for them in a rocking chair.
"You finally came, my dear Eddy." She says, as she pulls out a pack of cigarettes.
"Can it Lee." Eddy says as he, Double D, Ed, and Naruto hop down from the truck. "This is Naruto, he's the guy who owns the Impala we called about the engine for."
"Good morning miss." Naruto says, putting his hand out to shake.
"MAY, our beloved Ed's are here for that engine." Lee shouts at the top of her lungs and soon after, a blond headed woman steps out.
"Hello Ed." She says, trying to be seductive, and failing miserably.
"Hello May." Ed says in a groan. May and Lee take the four men to the scrap yard, where Naruto notices the name of the place.
"Kanker's Klankers. Where does the Kanker's part come from?"
"Their sisters, Kanker is their last name." Eddy answers as they approach a 2015 Corvette Stingray.
"I see, so. Where is the Impala?" Naruto responds as he looks around.
"What?" Lee asks, her and May both giving confused glairs.
"Yeah, my car is a 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. And I don't see a third gen Impala."
"You ain't here for an Impala engine." May says, and now it's Naruto's turn to look confused.
"Yeah we're putting an LT1 in it." Eddy adds. "No worries, it'll work, that was the research I did last night."
"Do we have the tools to get it out?" Naruto asks as Ed sets down a huge toolbox.
"All that's left is to get the lift. But they got that covered." Ed says as he pops open the box.
"What tools do you use?" Naruto asks, noticing the newness of the tools, despite the older looking box.
"Craftsmen have used it ever since I was a kid. Why, need some tool advice?" Ed answers, grabbing the tools they will need, showing that they probably have done plenty of times.
"Nah, I'm the same way." He replies as they look over the engine, planning how to get the thing out. Hours passed, it was around 11 a.m. when they arrived. Eddy checks his watch and notices it was now 4:37 as they now load the engine, in a crate, and into Ed's truck bed. He, Ed, and Naruto look over to see Double D talking with the third Kanker, this one has blue hair and has a gothic look to her.
"You know Edward, if you put as much effort into helping us as you do flirting with her, we would be back at the shop by now." Naruto says, getting a chuckle from the others.
"We've only known him for less than 24 hours and he is already cock blocking you sock head." Eddy says, causeing Double D to shake his head.
"See you around Marie." He says as he makes a short walk of shame to the truck. They drive off and Eddy gets his phone out.
"Say, you guys down for some cheese, I'm in a cheese mood." Eddy says as he punches something into his phone.
"What you mean?"
"Pie, pizza."
"Shit, yeah sure, where from?"
"Ever been to Tony's just outside the city?"
"Yeah, I used to work there when I was in highschool."
"Then you know it's some of the best in the state."
"Got that right."
"So, two large cheeses, or do you guys want anything else?"
"I would say one cheese, one sausage." Ed answers as they pull to a red light.
"Double D, what about you?" Eddy asks again, turning to the third Ed who was in the back seats with Naruto.
"Better get some drinks too, taking that we are out of water."
"Tea I assume." Double D nods, and Eddy takes a mental note.
"Coke, no ice." Ed adds as he presses the gas pedal.
"Same for me." Naruto also adds as he leans back in the chair. "So, what's the plan?"
"We eat, then pull the front end and old engine out, and call it a night. At least for you. And before you ask, we'll keep working on it, it's just the shop closes around when I expect to get it done." Double D answers as Eddy phones in the order.
"Understandable."
"We also went ahead and ordered a new flywheel for the transmission and adaptor for it." Ed adds as Eddy can be heard trying to order the food.
"Can y'all keep it down?" Eddy asks as they continue to drive. They arrive at the place about 40 minutes later and Naruto and Eddy jump out to get the food and drink, as Ed and Double D stay in the truck to keep an eye on the engine in the bed. "Look like your pals are here." Eddy says, pointing to Sasuke's 78 Monte Carlo, Shikamaru's 63 Stingray, and Neji's 81 Camaro parked together, a couple of spots away. They walk in and sure enough, the three are at the counter paying for the food they just ate.
"Hey boys." Naruto says as he approaches.
"Hey man, did you guys get the engine yet?' Sauske asks as the two fist bump.
"Just getting some food before we start working on getting the shit ready to put it in."
"Nice, need any help?"
"Eddy, would you guys be cool if they help us out?"
"Sure, might be able to get it done faster." Eddy says as the man behind the counter hands him the pizzas. "Grab the drinks." Naruto grabs the drinks and waves for the three to follow.
"See you around Tony." He waves to the owner, who waves back as they leave. They drive a shorter 20 to the shop and Double D notices an orange and blue 2005 Honda Civic with tilted Type R badges. They pull in and start to unload the crate.
"Eddy, I think he's back." Double D whispers to Eddy, who walks into the shop before coming back out with a metal bat.
"The fuck's up Edward?" Neji asks as Eddy turns the corner to the sidewalk.
"IRVING, YOU'RE A DEAD MAN." Eddy shouts as the others run to see what the problem is and see Eddy chasing a guy into the Civic and he drives off, leaving what looks to be some kind of political sign or something.
"The fuck man?" Shikamaru asks as they catch up and Sasuke pulls out the sign.
"Looking for family friendly service with tons of smiles and none of the hassle? Come to PnF Autos for all your car care needs." Sasuke says as Naruto, Shikamaru, and Neji look over his shoulder.
"He was advertising his own shop at another's entrance?" Neji asks, grabbing the sign.
"Look at the back. Looking for real mechanics that treat you like family and not another piggy bank? Head to PnF Autos to see what auto shops should be." Shikamaru adds.
"Okay, now that's fucked up." Naruto says as they toss the sign aside. "Eddy, who the fuck are these guys and why are they advertising their shop at your place?"
"The jack off in the rice cooker's name is Irving Dubois. The PnF Autos place is owned by two step brothers named Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, Irving would fucking nuke time square if Phineas told him to, with out hesitation, and would kill Flynn's bitch if she so much as accedently touched another dude that isn't in their circle jerk. That's how obsessed he is with that Doritto looking fuck boy." Eddy rants about the opposing shop. "They think just because Karren's come to them for her crossover SUV's oil change and tire rotations they are some kind of Mopar Demi-God."
"But that was a Civic."
"You know what I mean, whatever, let's go." They finish unloading the crate into the garage and start eating.
"So if you don't mind me asking, what's the story on the engine?" Neji asks as the three that have already eaten look over the crate.
"Punk kid got a 2015 Corvette Stingray for his birthday, drove too fast into a corner, fishtailed into a tree. Thankfully him and his girlfriend didn't get hurt, but the rearend was fucked, so his dad junked it and got him a Spark as punishment." Eddy says between bites of cheese pizza.
"He still got a car in the end, doesn't sound like a punishment."
"Not if the kid cried and moaned when they got it towed to the junkyard." They all get a good little chuckle as they finish eating. The whole week was more or less the same. They had to wait a couple of days for the flywheel and adapter to come in but once they did it took only two days to get the engine in. All that was left was to hook up all the lines and wires, and get the front end back on, and get it on the dino. At least that was what Naruto had thought.
"Did you hear?" Sasuke asks as Naruto hops into the Monte Carlo.
"No, what?"
"We got a meeting tonight, Masamune and Shikamaru set it up cause his Hollywood pals are coming in. Not only that, but I heard Liz and Patty have some old friends from the Vegas area coming up too."
"Sounds like it'll be a real good night for some quick cash."
"Yeah, but they're just as serious about cars as we are. So it won't be easy. But where is the fun in that, am I right?"
"Got that right brother. But why didn't y'all tell me?"
"We didn't know if the 64 would be done this soon. If it was, we were expecting Eddy to tell ya." They arrive at the garage and head on in.
"Hey, if it isn't the man of the hour." Eddy says, with a large grin on his face, and he walks up and shakes their hands.
"Hey man." Naruto looks around and notices the lack of Impala. "Where's my car?"
"About that, hold on one second." Eddy says as he walks off and after a short wait, he, Double D, and Ed push out a familiar car, now in a metallic black paint job, with freshly polished chrome trim. "We stayed up real late getting this to fit again. But now it's tuned perfectly and ready to roll." Eddy reaches into his pocket and tosses Naruto the keys. "This is the part where you trip over yourself to start it up."
"I think you're right." Naruto says as he slowly steps up to the Impala and runs his hand down the top of the front quarter panel. He opens the door and at long last, once again, sits down in the driver seat and inserts the key. "Come on baby, roar for me." He turns the key, and the fifth gen LT engine turns over, before unleashing the beautiful sound of the 6.2 liter V8 coming to life.
"FUCK YEAH." Sasuke shouts as he throws his hands in the air.
"THAT'S WHAT I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT." Naruto adds as he hops out and hugs Eddy.
"Woah man, a simple thank you would have done just fine."
"Sorry." Naruto sorts himself as Sasuke looks over the car.
"What about a test drive?" He asks as Naruto turns to him.
"What are you thinking?"
"From here to the park, I planned on meeting Shikamaru and DJ Blades at the park anyways."
"Sounds good." Naruto says as his phone rings. "Hello?"
"Thank God, can you come by my house quickly." A woman's voice comes from the other end.
"Hey hey… Hinata, what's the problem."
"Something is wrong with my car."
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know. please Naruto, I'm on the verge of crying."
"Alright I'll be right over, just breathe okay hun. Love you." He hangs up and looks over to Eddy. "Eddy, you got time brother?"
"What's up?"
"My girlfriend's car is acting up and is begging me to help her."
"Sounds like a good way to test drive the Impala." Sasuke says as he walks back over to his own car. "I'm gonna meet up with Shikamaru and Blades, see ya boys tonight.
"Let's go." Eddy hops into the passenger seat as Naruto drives to the location where a young woman stands next to the Toyota Prius in the driveway.
"Eddy, this is Hinata, Hinata this is Eddy. She's my girl, he fixed the Impala. What's wrong?"
"I don't know, something's wrong with the engine, it doesn't sound right."
"Mind trying to start it for us, miss?"
"Alright." She leans into the car to hit the ignition.
"Good choice in women. Much better than the Kankers."
"She's also related to Neji."
"Oh… well shit." Eddy says as the hybrid engine, despite sounding like a V8, starts. "Fuck, I can tell you what's wrong without getting under." She turns the car off.
"What?"
"Something is wrong with the catalytic converter. Got a jack and jack stand?"
"I think so."
"Can you get em, Naruto, can you find something to chock the tire?"
"Got it." He gets the front passenger tire blocked and heads to see if she needs help getting the jack out. A few moments later, they come back and get the side of the car up just enough for Eddy to stick his head under the car.
"Holy fuck." He pulls his head out and looks at Hinata. "When did this start?"
"When I went to leave work,"
"Well, ask them to pull footage of the outside when you work next. Your fucking cat's gone."
"Her Catalytic Converter is missing?"
"Stollen. Take a look man." Eddy moves so Naruto may take a look and sure enough, the part was missing.
"Holy shit."
"Ma'am, what's the best way to contact you?" Eddy asks, getting a confused look. "Look, do you need a replacement for the car or not." Eddy gets her number and makes a call to Double D so he can get the part. "Alright, Ed's on his way with the tow."
"Need me to help load her car up?"
"No, if you need to be somewhere else go ahead. Keep testing your car out."
"Alright, Patricia asked me if I would be able to swing by, saying she has someone she wants me to meet."
"Alright, peace."
"See you two later then." Naruto gets back into the 64 and cruises to a small bar where the matte gray Mercedes-Benz SL 500 is parked next to a glossy looking powder blue Chevy Cobalt SS, a Chevy Malibu, looked like it's a 1965 model year, a gloss off white 04 Lexus IS3000, a black Dodge Viper GTS-R, a black 1970 Eldorado, a black Lancer Evo, he could not tell what make it was at that distance, and an orange 350 Z. He himself parks a few spots away and heads in where the Benz owner is behind the bar. "Manhattan when you get the chance Liz."
"Heard your car is fixed." Liz says as she grabs the ingredients
"How so?"
"The big guy that helped, he's been flirting with Patty."
"How the hell did Ed get your sister's number?"
"Ask her since she's off, here you go, she's right over there." Liz hands him the drink and points to a table where sure enough, her sister was sitting with a few folks.
"Thanks." He takes a sip before walking to the table. He gives a thumbs up back to the bar as he arrives. "Patricia, what's with the possy?"
"Oh hey, guys, this is Naruto, the owner of the Impala that money shifted." Patty says waving to Naruto.
"Shit, have you fixed it yet?" The dark skinned man asks.
"How do you think I got here?"
"Can we see what's under the hood?" One of the other girls, with dirty blonde hair asked.
"Why not." Naruto answers as he leads the group to the door. "Care to join us Liz?"
"Perfect timing, just clocked out." She steps out from behind the bar and they walk over to the Impala.
"Fifth gen LS, LT1 from a 2015 Corvette Stingray." Naruto says as he lifts the hood.
"Good shit. Names Kilik Rung." The darker man says as the two shake hands. Naruto then checks his phone and sees what time it is.
"Well I hate to cut this short, but I gotta get going." Naruto says as he pockets his phone. "That reminds me, Liz, Patty, midnight. And if y'all are anything like our mutual friends, I'd stay up for it."
"Thanks man." Patty says as Naruto drives off. "You guys wanna earn some extra cash?"
