9. CHAPTER SIX: Hunting

CHAPTER SIX

Hunting

The weekend rolls around for the students of True Cross, and a bus pulls up at the side of the street; Sayuri, Rin, Shima and Izumo walk off and stand on the side of the road as the bus drives away and the teens look out at the beach for their mission. "Summertime!" Rin exclaims with glee. "The ocean!"

"The swimsuits!" Shima exclaims with glee. "Let's hit on girls!" He skips across the street towards the beach. "Time to go for a swim, Okumura! Hey, Izumo, Sayuri, get changed, get changed! Hurry, get in your swimsuits!" He turns to face the others. "Man, I love the ocean!" He cheers.

"Pest, shut up; we have to meet Instructor Tsubaki." Sayuri tells him, making Rin and Izumo giggle as they walk down the road.

"Awe! Come on, Beauty!" Shima whines, racing to catch up after them, and they walk down the road heading for the shop.

The teens arrive at the inn to see their school instructor waiting for them. "Welcome, please come in, put your things in the assigned rooms you'll be sharing, of course, then come to the Ocean House and grill up the squid on the side of the kitchen. Thank you." He informs the teens, and they head inside the inn to drop off their bags and head to the Ocean House into the shop kitchen to start grilling the squids for lunch before heading out the front to set up. Once finished, the girls go off back to the inn to change.

Shima sits behind the grill as Rin continues to try selling the grilled squid, but no one is buying. "Man this sucks?!" Shima groans, and he looks over as two girls walk past, chatting. "Go figure, we get stuck flipping squid at the shop all day with all these voluptuous babes around?"

"Step on up, folks! We're gonna rock your stomach! Our grilled squid is so awesome it melts in your mouth. You won't mind selling your soul for a taste!" Rin tries selling the squid, ignoring the pinkette's whining.

"In the face of tragedy, you're being a good sport," He comments, making Rin look at him as he sits in the sand.

"Huh? Oh well, I don't mind doing stuff like this. The thing is…" The Nephilim looks out at the busy beach.

"The thing is, we're lacking customers," Shima agrees.

"Man! I don't get what we're doing wrong? The squid looks damn good," Rin complains with a pout as Kuro climbs onto his shoulder.

"They sure smell tasty. Rin, can I have one, please?" Kuro begs him.

"There for sale. Sorry pal," He tells him, feeling bad as he looks into the cat's pleading eyes.

"Hey, is that him?" Shima asks him, making them look over as he stands up. "That's your new Familiar. The Cat Sidhe, isn't it?"

"Yeah. I figured I'd bring him 'cause they said it was a mission," The blue-haired boy replies.

"Ah! Mission, my ass!" He exclaims. "They say we're here to collect seaweed for Demon-warding potions… crap. They've got us working retail, man!"

"Did you know that this snack bar and the place we're staying at? Both of them belong to Old Sideburns' misses," Rin informs him.

"Huh. This blows so hard," The pinkette complains, falling to the sand. "Bon and Koneko are in Tamagawa to hunt for Bariyons. I'm starting to think those guys are the best deal." He sits sulking and watching more girls pass. "We're not gonna sell Jack today unless we get a hot girl to stand by the grill. How come Izumo and Sayuri not out here suffering with us. Least they could do is suck it up for an hour. But I guess she's not what you call a team player, is she?"

"Uh, excuse me?" Izumo snaps and looks up in shock to see the purple-haired girl looming over him in an oversized blue hoodie holding a pink ring, standing next to Sayuri in a white bikini top and skirt to hide her tail. Shima opens his eyes to see the girls and pales, jumping to his feet as the boys look at the two girls in surprise.

"Oh, hey. Yeah, jee, you look really cute in those swimsuits of yours," Shima stutters with a blush.

"What's your problem? We helped you grill those squids, didn't we?" She questions. "Besides, I'm not the kind of girl who works retail,"

"I-I guess you have a point." He replies as the purple-haired girl walks off. "Hey, don't worry about me. I already went swimming, so have a blast!"

"Oh, don't worry, I will. It's my turn to go swimming anyway," Izumo says, leaving the others behind.

"She's the same as always, huh?" Sayuri comments with a sigh.

"Yep that's our girl. She's all 'tsun' without a trace of 'dere'!" Shima groans, and Instructor Tsubaki arrives in his vacation clothes.

"Good work, boys and girl! I am truly blessed to have such wonderful students under my wing." Tsubaki announces his arrival, and the three students look to take in their teacher's choice of clothing. "By the way, how's business?"

"All good for now, sir," Sayuri informs him, and he nods along.

"Glad to hear it. Keep up the good work." He tells them and heads back inside the shop, leaving them to sell the grilled squids. Sayuri stands beside Rin behind the grill, and a line of teenage boys appears as she smiles. Rin frowns, growing angry at the teens as they ogle his girlfriend's body as she serves them the grilled squid.

"Thank you! Would you like a blue rasberry slushie too?" The blond teen asks them, surprising the boys.

"Where did those come from?" Shima questions, looking at the icy treat.

"I made them," Sayuri announces with a smile, making more men flock to the stand.

A little while later, once the stand has gone quiet and they pack the shop for the afternoon, the others spot Izumo on the beach with a small kid, having seen their classmates in trouble in the water before appearing on the sandy beach with the boy. "Hey!" Rin calls out as they run over. "Are you okay?"

"I hope you know how luck you are. Hey, what happened to the guy that saved you?" Shima asks, looking around. "Did he leave already?"

"I'm right here!" Yohei shouts, growing angry at the pinkette, and they look at him in shock as Shima crouches in front of the small kid.

"Oh, hey. You're so small, I didn't see you," The pinkette pokes fun at the boy.

"Oh yeah?!" The kid yells at him. "My dad says I can be small and be a man as long as he's big where it counts!" Sayuri giggles as Izumo gasps in shock at his words.

"Don't talk like that!" Izumo hisses at him.

"Why not? What, you don't like guys with big hearts or something?" Yohei questions, and Sayuri giggles, seeing the blush on Izumo's face, but stops when they hear people rushing off down the beach, heading for the pier.

"Wonder what's going on up there?" Shima comments, and Yohei rushes off, leaving them behind.

"Hey, where you going?" Rin calls for him, and they run after the boy.

The teens rush to the end of the pier with others all looking out to the dyed black sea from the ink spreading out slowly from the depths. "Wh-What the hell?" Sayuri wonders as they stop at the railing.

"Woah, what is that?" Rin mutters, looking at the ocean.

"Whatever it is, it can't be good," Shima concludes.

"It's a Demon." An old man says, making the teens look over to see the old man staring at the sea. "It's said when the sea turns black as ink, a Demon the size of a small mountain shall rise from it and destroy everything."

"Where'd you hear that?" Rin asks him.

"It's a legend that's been passed down for generations. Mercy on us," He prays, walking off, and the four teens walk after him as he heads off to explain the village story.

The group arrive in the woods at the temple, where the votive tablet is painted on the side of the wall. "Huh? What is that?" Rin asks the priest.

"A votive tablet. 400 years ago, this temples priest made it," He informs them.

"Thats a big squid. Like really big," Shima comments.

"The sea has turned black from the ink of that monster," The priest explains.

"Yeah, but that's just a story, isn't it?" Izumo asks him.

"I wish it were. We experienced it six months ago. The sea turned black, just like today and a fisherman set out on his boat to drive away the Demon. However to this day this man has not returned." He reveals.

The four teens head back to the beach as the sun sets. "Just our luck. I didn't think we'd be hearing about Demons this far from school," Shima complains.

"Don't you think it would be cool if our very first mission was to go and kill that Demon?" Rin questions with a grin and walks into something. "What the hell?"

"Ow!" They see Yohei standing before them and glaring at the blue Nephilim. "Watch where you're going!"

"Oh, it's you!" Sayuri smiles, glad to see he's alright.

"Look our little friends back," Shima jokes.

"You know we were worried about you. Where'd you disappear to?" Rin asks him, making the boy scoff and turn away.

"Nowhere," Yohei replies.

"What do you mean, nowhere?" Sayuri asks him.

"Man, you are one hard-headed kid," Rin mutters, and Izumo holds a hand to her forehead, remembering butting heads together.

"You're telling me," Izumo agrees.

"Does your head still hurt?" Yohei asks her, turning to look at the girl.

"Yeah, of course it does," She snaps at him.

"Sorry about that," He apologises.

"Come on, kid. You had to see us coming your way, didn't you? You could have just given us a little room to get by," Rin remarks.

"No way!" Yohei snaps, turning back around. "My dad told me that a real man walks a straight path, and that was all I was doing."

"I think you're old man meant that metaphorically. And besides, and if you only go straight, I'm pretty sure you're gonna wind up lost." Shima remarks, smiling.

"No ones that dumb," Rin jokes, slinging his arm around Sayuri's shoulder.

"Do any of you know how to get to the pet store? I need to get to the pet store. I drew a map of it, but I can't find it," Yohei requests, taking out a piece of paper.

"Yeah…" Shima mutters, looking at the map.

"Yeah what? You got a problem with that?!" He yells.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The teens walk out of the local pet shop with the kid. "It still blows my mind that we had to give directions to one of the locals," Izumo grumbles.

"She's right. Haven't you ever been here before?" Rin asks the boy.

"Yeah. But my dog's sick," Yohei answers, walking with them.

"You're dog? So whenever you need to go to the pet store you're dogs the one who takes you there?" Sayuri questions.

"Yeah, so what?" He snaps at the blond teen.

"I knew it. You're severely directionally challenged." Shima teases the boy.

"Hah. I don't want to brag but my Dad's on a whole other level. He's was like totally directionally challenged." Yohei boasts.

"I wouldn't brag about that. Anyway, why does topic revert back to your Dad?" Izumo grumbles.

"Because he was pretty awesome," He replies, stopping in his tracks.

"You mean he's…?" She asks him.

"Six months ago, he shipped out to kill that thing, but he didn't come back," Yohei informs them.

"Wait, you're dad was that guy?" Shima asks him.

"And that thing he was after was..?" Rin questions, holding Sayuri's hand.

"The Demon of the deep seas, that's what they call the thing that killed my Dad. I swore that no matter what, I'd find it and kill it." Yohei tells them, and it goes quiet amongst them.

"Come on, let's get you home," Sayuri smiles, taking the boy's hand.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The four teens make it back to the inn, hoping for something to eat that isn't squid, having had enough for one day. "Thanks for all the hard work," Tsubaki compliments the teens, showing them the feast of squid dishes. "Dig in." Izumo and Shima look over, listing all the food items.

"Everything's got squid in it," Sayuri groans, hating some dishes.

"That's right, Bon Apetite," The instructor smiles.

"Yeah, but it's like don't we have anything besides squid?" Rin asks him.

"No we don't. Do you know why? No one has been able to catch anything in these waters accept squid. It's driving everyone squidly." His little joke makes Izumo and Shima groan. "However, on the upside you can all squid out until you get sick," He informs them.

"That's why no one bought our squid at first. It figures," The blue Nephilim grumbles, and Sayuri looks at the food.

"I guess we shouldn't waste food then," She suggests and starts eating; the others soon join in, she even feeds Rin jokingly, making Shima cry because they are a couple now, and he's all alone.

"A Kraken?" Rin questions once they finish their meal.

"If we're talking about ink spewing Demons of the sea. That's my guess," Tsubaki suggests, getting out a book. "This book "The Natural History of Norway" has a passage that tells how a Kraken is around the sea will turn pitch black from its ink."

"So that things why fisherman can't catch anything but squid. Okay, we've figured out a Kraken is doing this, but is there anyway to destroy it?" Shima asks their teacher.

"One would have to know the Demon of the deep seas fatal verse; it's beleived to be the Letter to the Ephesians Chapter 1 Verse 18. Other than that, your options are limited. I'm afraid your little friend can't destroy it by himself," Tsubaki warns them, and Sayuri ponders the fatal verse when the teacher's phone rings, startling them, and he looks at it, seeming to recognise the number and heads out of the room to answer. "What is it honey?" The teens follow him, peering out as he walks into the hallway. "What again? Don't worry, kitty-kat. I'm on my way," Tsubaki turns to see the teens looking at him. "Uh, yeah something just came up, so I have to go for a bit. You can take the day off tomorrow. We've hired a proper employee to work part-time at the Ocean House."

"What's he mean proper employee? What are we interns?" Izumo snaps.

"Yeah," Sayuri nods.

"Who cares about that, I want to know who kitty-kat is?" Rin jokes, looking at his girlfriend.

"You will never call me that," She warns him.

"Okumura, you know what this means?" Shima asks him.

"What?" Rin asks him.

"We're gonna swim our asses off!" He cheers.

"What the -?" The girls blink as they look at the boys, kneeling in front of each other, slapping their hands together.

"Right on!" Rin cheers.

"I'm sorry I forgot to tell you, I want you to make sure that Yohei boy doesn't get anywhere near that Demon. That's right your babysitting tomorrow. Buh-bye!" Tsubaki waves as he leaves the boys in despair.

Later that night, Rin sneaks into the girls' room, spotting the blond instantly and shaking her awake; Sayuri blinks, seeing the blue-haired teen leaning over her with a sweet smile. "Rin? What are you doing?" She asks him, and he shushes her, not wanting to wake anyone up.

"Get dressed into this and meet me on the beach," Rin whispers, placing a white box by her head before leaving the room.

"What the hell?" The blond gets up, looks at the box and shakes it, hears something inside, and opens it, seeing a cute baby blue dress and black heels.

Rin waits impatiently on the beach after setting the beautiful gazebo with pillows and candles. "Where is she?" He wonders and hears a gasp from the side; spinning around, he takes in the gorgeous view of his girlfriend as she walks towards him.

"You did all this?" Sayuri asks him, and he nods. "It's beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it," Rin smiles, happy she likes it.

"What brought this on?" She asks him, stepping in front of him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"I wanted to do a little date night, spend some time together away from the others," He confesses, leaning down, pecking her on the lips.

"I love it. You're the best," Sayuri deeps the kiss.

The following day, Rin lies in his room shared with Shima when Kuro races over to his master, poking at his cheek to wake the Nephilim. "Wake up, Rin! It's the sea again! It's serious!" The feline warns him.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The four teens race out to see the water dyed black from the ink from the Kraken. "Not again," Shima groans.

"I'm sure that kid's seen this too. I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid," Rin remarks, holding Sayuri to his side.

"I'm gonna go check on him!" Izumo declares, running down the stairs.

"Izumo!" Shima calls after her.

"Yeah, what? He saved my life didn't he? Anyway, it bugs me when people go off and do something half-cocked," She replies and runs off, leaving the others.

"I hope he'll be alright," Sayuri mutters, and they head back to the inn, letting the purple-headed girl look after the boy, having found him at the end of the pier waiting patiently.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Sayuri's phone pings, and she looks at the text from Izumo sometime later. "She says we don't have to go out there yet," Sayuri announces as the boys wait.

"She's got to be hungry by now," Shima remarks. "Don't you think it's kinda weird. I mean it's not like her to get so worried about someone else."

"Hmm," Rin hums in agreement as he sits by the window, and Sayuri leans her chin on his leg as she looks out the window.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The sun begins to set, and they look out the window to see something moving under the water before it breaks to the surface. "There it is!" Rin shouts, looking out the window in shock with the others as it draws closer to the the shore, and they run down to deal with the Demon. "No way!"

"It It really is a Demon! Where's Captain Nemo when you need him!" Shima jokes in fear.

"Whatever! Just read Aria!" He orders his classmate.

"Woah! What are you going to do?" The pinkette asks him.

"I haven't figured that out yet. But we have to stop it, or it'll destroy the village. Besides, that kid could get hurt if he tries anything." Rin argues, and Sayuri unleashes her sword.

"Right, here goes nothing," Shima sighs, planting his foot on the railing. "Why can't it be your girlfriend."

"Because you can't fight. I can," Sayuri replies.

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. It's not working!" Shima cries out as the giant squid keeps moving forward. "Do you think it's because squids can't hear?"

"What are you talking about?" Rin snaps at him.

"Well we need to come up with a plan!" Sayuri yells as the Kraken turns to them, raising its tentacle, slamming down towards them as they run to avoid the hit and get thrown over the side of the railing onto the sand below. They get up, seeing the squid trying to move again, and Kuro grows bigger, jumping to his master's rescue.

"Kuro!" He shouts as the feline headbutts the decapod and jumps away, landing in front of the teens, hissing and growling as the squid gets back up. "Woah, this is like a monster movie! Kick his ass Kuro!" The Cat Sidhe growls as the Kraken swings its tentacles, but Kuro jumps on it, biting down on the fin. "Atta boy Kuro!"

"Not good!" Shima yells.

"Why not?" The blue Nephilim questions.

"You don't know? Sayuri hasn't told you?" He questions.

"We haven't got to it yet," Sayuri defends herself as Kuro falls by them, kicking up a wall of sand; once it clears, they see the feline lying on the sand, smaller and barely conscious.

"Kuro! Kuro! Are you okay?" Rin yells with worry as they run to the feline's side.

"Rin! Sayuri!" Kuro cries out, and they run to his side; Rin cradles him in his arms. "I'm dizzy."

"Cat's can't eat raw squid it paralysises them," Shima informs him.

"For real?" Rin cries out, holding his Familiar, and Izumo runs over to them.

"Where's Yohei?" Izumo demands. "Did he come this way?"

"No, we haven't seen him," Sayuri answers.

"Really?" She mutters, looking around. "Oh no, don't tell me he got lost again!" The squid roars, making them look at the giant Demon. "That settles it. It's up to me." The purplette runs to face the Giant Squid.

"Hey!" Shima shouts after her, trying to stop her.

"I humbly appeal to the Goddess Inari…" Izumo takes out her piece of paper to summon her Familiars.

"Watch out, Izumo!" He warns her as the Giant Squid flaps, creating a large wave and wetting the paper and her.

"I can't summon them!" She exclaims, and the others rush to her side, looking at the oversized squid, when suddenly a harpoon pierces the top fin of the Kraken, surprising the teens and looking over to see a small boat speeding toward the Demon Squid.

"I'm gonna kill that thing!" Yohei mutters with determination in his eyes.

"It's Yohei!" Izumo gasps in surprise, but the two Nephilims run away to face the Kraken.

"Wait, where're they going?!" Shima panics, watching the couple run down the beach as the boat approaches the Giant Squid.

"Stupid kid!" Rin groans.

"We need to stop him before he gets hurt!" Sayuri exclaims, and they jump into the sea as the Kraken tries hitting the small boat with its tentacles.

"You're in way over your head!" He snaps at the kid, and the Nephilims climb the boat's side. "Get away!"

"What are you doing?!" Yohei yells at them.

"You're just a kid! And that Demon's not messing around!" The blue Nephilim argues, trying to stop the boy from getting himself killed.

"Shut up and stay out of my way! I'm gonna kill that rotten Demon! And I'm gonna get revenge for my Dad!" The kid shouts at them before diving into the water with the harpoon gun.

"Hey!" Sayuri yells after him and watches Yohei swim to the surface, aiming his firearm before firing at the Kraken, hitting it and making the Giant Squid wail in pain.

"I did it!" Yohei beams, but it goes sour as the Kraken flails around, knocking the boy into the air and falling into the ocean again.

"Oh, crap!" Rin grumbles, speeding the boat to the boy as the others watch from the beach, and Sayuri drives into the water, swimming down to save Yohei. She grabs his wrist and safely brings him back to the surface with Rin waiting on the boat.

"Dammit! What are we gonna do?" Sayuri questions, looking at her boyfriend, and he looks desperately back at her before peering at the beach.

"We've got no choice." He tells her and grabs his sword's hilt, drawing the blade, allowing his blue flames to surface.

"Ahoy! Ahoy!" A voice calls out, breaking the Nephilims from attacking, and they turn around to see someone drifting toward them. "Yohei! Ahoy! Yohei! Yohei!" They keep shouting as they get closer.

"Put your flames away!" Sayuri hisses at her boyfriend, who quickly puts his sword back in its scabbard.

"Who's that guy?" Rin wonders, looking at the man, and Yohei regains consciousness.

"That sounds like?!" Yohei mutters, smiling.

"Yohei!" The man shouts again.

"Dad!" He beams. "It's Dad!" He swims away toward his father, leaving Sayuri alone in the water.

"What the -?" Sayuri exclaims, and Rin helps her back into the boat

"Ahoy! Dad!" Yohei shouts, joining his Dad on the raft.

The couple makes it safely back ashore with the happily reunited father and son, joined by Izumo and Shima, who have a few harsh words for their rash actions and call their instructor to meet them by the lighthouse once the sun sets. "Good work, everyone." Instructor Tsubaki congratulates them, looking at the Giant Squid.

"By the way, Sideburns - Mr Tsubaki, where have you been?" Rin asks him.

"Well - I wasn't sure it was a Kraken. But if it turned out it was, I knew we needed a proper strategy to fight it. Then I discover there wasn't any real danger." He explains.

"I tried, but I couldn't figure how to get back." They hear Yohei's father explain to their son, making them look at father and son. "I made it to a deserted island and stayed there for a bit, then struck out sea again. I floated around to find Japan with the help of that squid that things got no sense of direction."

"But I thought that squid was your enemy!" Yohei argues, looking at his father.

"Yohei, my boy. You need to learn to be more flexible." He replies, surprising his boy. "That's what I realised during our battle. Be like the squid; he's flexible in mind, body and soul." He looks over at the retreating Giant Squid. "He's turned over a new leaf, so why can't we all."

"Uh, but you said once a man decides to do something, he's got to follow through with it!" The boy argues.

"Yohei!" The man snaps, silencing him. "Enough. Be like the flavour of squid sashimi."

"What the hell does that mean?" Shima mutters, all of them unsure what the man means.

"A man also has to have the courage to change his man. That's what being a man is all about." Yohei's father declares firmly.

"Okay. You know, I think I'm way more mature because of this!" Yohei announces bravely.

"Oh God…" Izumo mutters, watching them.

"Come here!" The man shouts, banging his fist to his chest and spreads his arms out for a hug. "Yohei!"

"Dad!" The boy jumps into his father's arms for a hug.

"That's so awesome." Rin sniffs, hugging Sayuri to his chest.

"Seriously?" Shima mutters, glaring at the bluette.

"Do not get snot in my hair!" Sayuri warns her boyfriend.

"Even Demons can have a change of heart. That's what I was trying to teach you. And if anything, that lone made the trip out here worth it." Instructor Tsubaki informs the teens.

"That's total BS." Shima grumbles, glaring at the teacher, and Izumo falls to her knees.

"Geez!" Izumo groans, looking up at the night sky. "This sucks!"

After their fun-filled adventure at the beach, the four teens wait at the bus stop to return to school in their boring uniforms without the blazers and a watermelon slushie each. "Hey, it's that kid." Shima comments, all of them spotting Yohei strolling toward them with his dog, and Izumo jumps to her feet after giving Sayuri her cup.

"Come to say goodbye?" Izumo asks him.

"Mmhmm." Yohei replies, nodding.

"Is your dog feeling better?" She questions, gesturing to the dog.

"Yeah. This is Shiro." He crouches to the dog, and she follows. "Look at his eyebrows; aren't they cute?" The purple-haired teen looks at the canine, then Yohei.

"Eyebrows?" The snobby girl asks.

"That's what I said." The boy replies, picking up the dog to show her, and she sees the familiar-looking eyebrows crushing her.

"Poor girl." Sayuri snickers. "Hey, Yohei. I thought we might see you. Here's a slushie. Made it myself." She tells him, walking over and handing over the extra one.

"What flavour is it?" Yohei asks, taking it.

"Watermelon." The blond teen smiles, making the boy blush.

"Thank you." He replies, smiling back at her.

On the bus back to the school, Shima sits two seats away from Izumo at the back of the vehicle. The couple is behind him, and they all watch her, seeing her giggle to herself. "Yeah what?" Izumo asks them, turning around to face them.

"Oh, nothing!" Rin replies, clinging to Sayuri.

"Just wondering what's making you giggle?" Sayuri questions.

"What else can I do but laugh. This trip was the most ridiculous thing ever. Hmph." Izumo scoffs and turns to face the window, looking out at the beach.

"Yeah… I guess you have a point there." Shima agrees, snickering.

"Totally ridiculous. Whatever. This feels great." She mutters, unaware that the Nephilims can hear her.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

A few days after the four teens' time at the beach, they're called on a job with the rest of the Cram School Class while in Mephisto's office; he looks at his desk filled with items and souvenirs from all across Japan from Amaimon. "This Japan is a small country, yet the weather varies significantly from north to south." The green-haired Demon King comments, looking at the Kabuki mask.

"Amaimon, I said I didn't give you the Infinity Key for sight-seeing…" Mephisto snaps at his younger brother but stops in shock at seeing the item of clothing his brother gets out. "B-But that's considered a rare item even in the Holy Land…" He points at the pink yukata with cute girls on the pattern. "The 'Hani Hani Sisters' yukata!"

"I was just standing in line and was able to buy it." Amaimon replies, and his older brother jumps from his chair, snatching the pink fabric violently and spinning the Earth King around.

"W-Well done!" He shouts, gladly putting it on, and places a katana on his belt. "Now this is what you call the very soul of Japan… the samurai spirit. Not to mention the stupendous world of 'moe'!" The Time King shows off the patterned yukata. "Truly, I am blessed to have such a fine brother."

"By the way, Elder Brother, where can I find him?" The Earth King questions, standing next to his brother.

"Oh, he's over there." Mephisto looks out his window to the amusement park on the school grounds.

"An amusement park?" He frowns, looking at it.

"Yes." The older Demon King answers, and Amaimon crouches by the window, looking out, biting on his thumbnail. "So you're finally in the mood to play with him." He chuckles. "But no going after our Arc Knight."

"Right. No Panda." He nods, agreeing, loving their dear Niece immensely, and fears their older brother.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The Cram School boys and instructors stand at the start of the amusement park and sit under the golden statue of Mephisto. "Oh, man… Amusement Park after school… that's where you take girls out on a date…" Shima grumbles as they wait.

"How did your team do on your last mission, Shima?" Konkomaru questions his pink-haired friend.

"I wouldn't call that a mission," He replies and looks at Rin. "Right?"

"It was a bigass squid!" Rin answers, wishing Sayuri was with him as they are waiting for them.

"Squid? Really?" Konkomaru questions, glancing at them.

"Yeah, really." Shima answers and Bon gets to his feet, growing bored and annoyed with waiting for the girls.

"Jeez, what a drag." Bon complains.

"What's that?" Rin asks him.

"Hmph! Why bring along useless dumbasses who won't even pull their weight?" He replies, glaring at the puppeteer and gamer standing away from them.

"Now, now…" Konkomaru tries to calm him down, and Ryuji scoffs, looking away.

"Sorry, I'm late!" Shiemi exclaims, gaining their attention, and the boys all look in shock at her as she runs towards them with Sayuri beside her and Izumo behind the two blonds.

"Sh-Shiemi? What's going on? Where's your kimono?" Rin asks her, looking at the sweet blond in the school uniform.

"Since kimonos aren't really suitable for missions… I asked the director to issue me a uniform." She explains, catching her breath, and Rin jumps down, hugging his girlfriend, happy to see her again. "Oh, and I was late because I was having Ms Kamiki and Sunshine teach me how to put it on!"

"It was fun! Like having a doll to dress up," Sayuri jokes, smiling at her best friend.

"Like it's our job…" Izumo grumbles sourly.

"Um… You don't think it looks funny on me?" Shiemi questions, growing self-conscious.

"Hey, awesome! You sure look cute, Moriyama!" Shima instantly compliments her, and Sayuri sees the blush on Yukio's cheeks; even Bon nods in agreement with his pink-haired friend.

"Th-Thanks!" She stutters, and Rin moves toward his younger brother.

"H-Hey, is it just me, or is her skirt too short?" Rin whispers. "Right, Yukio?"

"Why are you asking me?" Yukio replies, closing his folder.

"What do you mean? You know you were just staring at Shiemi's boo-" He argues, getting hit with his brother's folder in the face.

"He likes it~!" Sayuri teases him, comforting her boyfriend.

"That hurt, Four Eyes!" The older brother snaps as Sayuri stops him from attacking their teacher.

"All right, now that we're all here let me announce how you've been paired off for this mission." Yukio announces and opens his folder again. "Eh… Miwa and Takara." The puppeteer looks at the bald kid, seeing his partner for the assignment. "Yamada and Suguro." The roster glances at the gamer with disdain.

"Crap! What the hell!" Bon groans.

"Kamiki and Shima." Yukio continues, and Shima smiles at Izumo. "Okumura and Moriyama."

"We're together, Rin!" Shiemi smiles but then looks at her best friend. "But what about Sunshine?"

"Ms Akenomyosei will be on her own." He informs them, exchanging a look with his best friend. "Today, we're here at Meppyland in response to several reports of a ghost pulling pranks, and we're having you take over the search. We've sealed off the park for the day, so find the ghost in that time. When you've found it, contact either Mr Tsubaki or myself on our cell phones." He instructs the students, and Tsubaki clears his throat, making them look at him.

"Now then, what is the definition of a ghost?" Tsubaki asks the class. "Ms Kamiki?" She raises her hand.

"Yes, sir. A ghost is a Demon who possesses the volatile emissions from the corpse of a human or animal and is characterised by being influenced by its host's emotions before death." Izumo explains.

"Yes, very good." He replies, a little surprised.

"Um…" Konkomaru questions. "How many ghosts are there exactly?"

"Well, it's been spotted all over the park, but it's just one ghost. Outwardly, it appears to be a small boy, and its mischief has been limited to arm-pulling and skirt-flipping…" Yukio informs them.

"What the…? Skirt-flipping?" Rin gasps, looking at his girlfriend.

"Sounds really childish. Oh wait, he is a child." Shima remarks, thinking about the ghost.

"But we must find it before the pranks escalate and pose a real danger." Yukio adds.

"If we tackle it with all this manpower, it should be a breeze." Bon comments, getting a few nods.

"Any other questions?" He looks across the class. "All right, then - go to it!"

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

The teens split up around the amusement park; Rin and Shiemi leave Sayuri at a fork in the path, going down another path. "You keep an eye on the right, Rin, and I'll look on this side." The sweet blond suggests happily.

"Right." Rin agrees and looks at her, seeing her stiff posture, moving rather robotically. "H-Hey, are you okay?" She steps around, seeming deadly serious. "Whoa! Sh-Shiemi? What's going on? You're making a really ugly face! Are you mad or something?"

"N-Not, really. I'm not laughing or anything…" Shiemi replies.

"Huh?" He questions, and she waddles away. "Hey - hold up!" He chases after her. "You're acting really weird…" The pair walk from the building and come out into the central plaza of the amusement park.

"Wow!" She exclaims gleefully, admiring the rides in amazement.

"Shiemi?" The blue Nephilim looks at her.

"I-I've always dreamed of coming to an amusement park!" The sweet blond reveals. "But when I was little, I couldn't stand to be in crowds of people, so of course, amusement parks were out of the question… I'll bet it's all lively and fun on normal days… But I think that now, I could…"

"Th-Then, hey… Let's hang out here together sometime! Me, you and Sayuri!" Rin tells her, smiling.

"Okay!" Shiemi replies, beaming, thinking of a fun time out with her two friends.

"R-Realy?" He questions, looking at her surprised. "You mean it, for sure?"

"Yes! Let's come here for sure! All three of us!" The blond teen beams.

"All right!" The blue Nephilim grins back at her. "Let's figure out where we're gonna look next."

"Okay!" Shiemi agrees, and they look at the map before setting off.

Meanwhile, everyone searches the large amusement park, and Sayuri is close by, unaware of someone watching her as she walks out of the gift shop, and Rin and Shiemi come to the carousel, making the boy stop. "Rin?" Shiemi calls him, seeing his face.

"A voice…" Rin mutters, hearing whimpers.

"Voice?" She questions, looking at him, and the carousel suddenly starts. "Why is it running on its own?"

"Shh!" He tells her, glaring at the amusement ride. "It's coming!" He senses the spirit simultaneously as Sayuri hears the carousel and runs off toward the noise as the ghost boy reveals himself sitting on one of the horses weeping.

"Oh my gosh, Rin! How did you know?" The blond human questions, looking at her friend.

"Oh, you know… just a gut feeling?" The blue-haired boy lies, having been practising with Sayuri on honing his Demonic abilities.

"Listen, why are you crying?" Shiemi asks the boy, stepping toward him.

"Hey, don't talk to the Demon!" Rin warns her.

"Oh! But he's such a little one… I don't think he's that dangerous." She reasons.

"Hey! Quit that lame-ass crying!" He snaps at the ghost boy, making him cry.

"You don't have to yell at him!" The sweet blond scolds him.

"Yeah, but…" The bluette argues weakly, and the ghost boy flies toward the blond human, hiding his face between her breasts.

"I was always… so sick… And my daddy and mummy promised me that they'd take me to this amusement park when I got well. But then… since I died… I can never… Never come here with anyone…" The ghost boy whimpers.

"I see. That must have been hard for you…" Shiemi smiles fondly, thinking she has something in common with him.

"Shut up, you old hag!" He snaps, grabbing her boobs.

"What the hell?!" Sayuri exclaims, alerting them to her presence, and they look at her, and the ghost boy flies toward her, grabbing her breasts before floating in front of them. "Hey! You little perv!"

"Moron! Moron!" The ghost boy yells before running away.

"You little piece of…!" Rin yells. "I wanna squeeze 'em, too…" He sulks, thinking about his girlfriend before racing after the boy. "Come back here, dammit!"

"Rin?" Shiemi questions. "Hello, Bestie!" She smiles at her friend,

"Hello, Greenie." Sayuri greets her, and the girls follow them as the ghost boy floats away, teasing the blue-haired Nephilim.

"Come back here, you brat!" Rin growls.

"Wait up…!" Shiemi shouts, running after him.

"He's running too fast…" Sayuri mutters, going through the tunnel toward the next part of the amusement park.

They find themselves at another statue of Mephisto, trying to catch their breath. "Crap, where did that little pervert run off to?" Rin growls, looking around, searching for the ghost boy that felt up his girlfriend and friend.

"Rin, I'm going to go look over there, okay?" Shiemi announces.

"Sure." He replies, and she races off toward the teacups before spotting the ghost boy entering the fun house and following him inside.

Shiemi looks around the fun house, confused, and spots herself in many mirrors, then the spirit in the mirrors. "You dummy!" Ghost boy teases her, and she chases him.

"Hey, you! Come back here!" The blond bumps into the mirror onto the floor.

"Just try and catch me if you can!" He laughs, floating off.

"Ouch… I wonder what it is that he wants?" She wonders, thinking of the ghost boy.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

"Oh, right." Rin exclaims, moving away from his girlfriend, who pouts at the lack of contact. "We're supposed to report that we've found the ghost…" He gets out his phone and calls his brother when suddenly, his sword is pulled off his shoulder, and he looks up to see who took it, and Sayuri sees with a small inaudible gasp. "Who the hell are you? Give that back!"

"Who?" Amaimon questions, popping a lollipop into his mouth. "Oh, yes. I am Amaimon, a Demon King. You could say I'm an older brother of yours. A pleasure to meet you. Hello, Panda." He looks at Sayuir, who waves back. "Also, I'm not giving this back." He holds up the sword.

"D-Demon?" He repeats, looking at his girlfriend and catching the cloth thrown at him by the Earth King.

"Ah… so this is the Koma Sword…" The Demon King admires the sword.

"Hey! Give it back!" The blue Nephilim shouts angrily.

"Amaimon! Give it back!" Sayuri demands.

"Now… just what kind of mechanism does this work on?" Amaimon wonders and unsheaths the blade, releasing the blue flames.

In the amusement park, Bon looks up at the sun, feeling the feet and grumbles, looking at Yamada still playing their game. "Would it kill you to look for real?" Bon asks him but gets ignored when they suddenly hear something and runs toward the Ferris wheel, climbing up the ladder. "H-Hey!"

Back with Shiemi and the ghost boy, who yawns, growing bored. "Found you!" She announces, running out of the fun house but trips, making the boy laugh.

"You're so lame!" The ghost boy giggles.

"All right. I'm going to catch you for sure next time!" Shiemi declares and runs to the teacups, getting in, but the spirit plays dirty, making the amusement ride start. "S-Stop it!" She yells, clinging to the side at the spinning cup as the ghost boy snickers, having fun.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

"Cut it out!" Rin demands; the blue flames keep flickering to life as Amaimon keeps playing with the blade. "Don't mess with that!"

"I see… the blade is a small entrance leading to Gehenna…" Amaimon comments, still playing with the weapon. "While the scabbard serves as its doorway… By sheathing the blade into this scabbard, the entrance is closed, draw it out, and it is opened." He looks at the Demonic appearance of his younger half-brother, not finding him cute like his darling Niece, whose flames activate in close proximity to the blue flames.

"Amaimon, please! Stop!" Sayuri pleads with him, knowing someone could see the fire sooner or later.

"Damn you! Make up your mind!" Rin snaps, and Amiamon makes up his mind, unleashing the blade fully from the scabbard.

"All right then, let's go with this." Amiamon decides, looking at him. "Hmm. So your flames are in Gehenna, while your body exists in Assiah, correct?"

"Wh-Whatever…" He growls, jumping up to kick the Demon King, who dodges the attack, jumping to the rollercoaster ride framework.

"Oh, no… my elder brother's head!" The Earth King exclaims, seeing the damage done by Rin's kick to the golden statue.

"Dammit, Amaimon, just tell us what the hell you're after!" The blond Nephilim demands, not wanting to fight her uncle.

"After? I was bored, so I came by to play with your little boyfriend, Panda." Amaimon answers, looking at his Niece.

"Huh?" Rin questions, looking between them, and the Demon King spits out the finished lollipop stick before moving up a frame.

"All right, since we're in an amusement park, let's amuse ourselves to the fullest!" He announces, clicking his fingers, turning the park rides to life.

"Huh?" The blue Nephilim mutters, glancing around, seeing the rides all turn on throughout the amusement park.

"Huh?" Shima questions, looking around, hearing the noise of the park rides around them turn on and seeing some turn on in another part of the amusement park.

"What the…?" Izumo wonders, frowning.

"Hmm?" Bon grunts, looking around in another amusement park area alone as his partner has disappeared.

"Huh?" Yukio wonders, hearing the amusement rides turn on, and his phone rings, making him answer.

"Okumura, were you the one who switched on the power?" Tsubaki asks the young instructor at the entrance of the park.

"No, I haven't touched anything?" He answers. "Never mind that - can you see anything from where you are?"

"Hey, you've got some style, huh?" Rin comments, looking around with a grin as he faces against Amaimon.

"Oh, I've also studied up on Japanese games." Amaimon replies, moving away, drawing his attention. "Demon, over here…! Towards the sound of clapping…" He dances around.

"What the…?" He growls at his older brother. "Don't freakin' insult me, you bastard!" The blue Nephilim jumps toward him.

"Hey, old hag, wake up!" The ghost boy calls Shiemi, who passed out on the spinning teacup.

"O-One second!" Shiemi tells him, standing up.

"That's what I like to hear!" He giggles, seeming delighted with her reply. "Demon, over here!" He repeats Amaimon before flying off.

"Hey, wait!" She calls after him, going to chase him but stops. "Could it be that he actually…" She thinks back to when they first met. "Could it be that he's just like me?" She looks at the mischievous little ghost boy. "If that's the case…" She knows what she has to do. "All right! You little rascal!" She chases him happily. "Come back here!"

"Come back here!" Rin shouts, climbing the rollercoaster track after Amaimon at the top, waiting.

"Rin! Stop!" Sayuri yells from the ground. "He's just playing with you!"

"Come to think of it. I went to the beach the other day." Amaimon comments, waiting and watching Rin climb toward him.

"What the hell is he talking about?" Rin grumbles, unaware of the cart coming behind his older half-brother, who jumps on top.

"Rin!" Sayuri shouts, seeing it heading toward him fast, running to save him, jumping up to meet him.

"For real?" He questions, standing on the track.

"Surfing is fun!" Amaimon cheers.

"You bastard!" The blue-flamed Nephilim growls; Sayuri jumps behind her boyfriend, wrapping her arms around his waist, leaping into the air, and Amaimon joins them. "What the…?"

"This is another game I learned to play." He says, grabbing the white-flamed Nephilim and flicking Rin on the forehead, sending him to the ground, unaware they are being watched by Yamada, and Bon, who makes it up in time to see the crash.

"What's up with that? What the hell is going on?" Bon questions and Yamada jumps to the ground, surprising Ryuji.

Yukio watches the destruction from the amusement park entrance, worrying about what might happen to his brother and students. "There's no way that a ghost caused all this. It must be some other power…" Yukio mutters nervously.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Rin falls alongside the rollercoaster, and Amaimon drops Sayuri, who grabs onto the track as the Demon King flies toward the younger Nephilim and smashes him into the framework while punching him. "Hmm. I don't understand it. Why would Father and Elder Brother have become so obsessed with something like this? And my Niece, too?" He gives one more powerful punch, sending Rin to the ground with a hard crash before landing on his stomach.

"Rin!" Sayuri shouts, climbing onto the track.

Shiemi struggles through the ball pit as the ghost boy floats above his head. "Yay!" He shouts. "Over here!" He bounces around happily, making her smile.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Amaimon keeps punching Rin, and Sayuri jumps from pole to pole to the bottom. "Oh, I am disappointed." The Earth King mutters. "And here I thought that you'd kill my boredom," Rin growls angrier and grabs Amaimon by the throat, throwing him away on his head before he lands on his hands and feet, looking at his half-brother. Sayuri lands on the ground, watching Rin get to his feet, growling and throwing pieces of pipe from the rollercoaster at the Demon King, who happily dodges. Rin gains the upper hand, landing on Amaimon and wraps his hands around his neck, and Sayuri runs to stop him, seeing her boyfriend losing control.

"Rin, stop!" Sayuri yells, wrapping her arms around his waist, trying to pull him off.

"Hurray! That's the spirit!" Amaimon grins, banging his fist onto the ground.

"Stop enjoying this!" She snarls back at him as the ground shakes violently throughout the amusement park.

"An earthquake?" Izumo mutters, falling to her knee as the violent shocks rock through the amusement park as things fall everywhere.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Pieces of framework fall from the rollercoaster, piercing into the ball pit as the two Demon brothers fight, and the older Demon kicks the Nephilims off him. Rin shouts, making the flames grow more robust, and Sayuri moves away, feeling burns on her arms and tries to hide them.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Shiemi emerges from underneath the balls with the ghost boy, unaware of what is happening outside. "What in the world happened?" She wonders, seeing the frame piece sliding into the ball pit.

"Awesome! It's like a movie!" The boy giggles, and she moves away quickly.

"We're done playing tag now!" She announces, trying to outrun it and screams as the frame falls further in, and the scream reaches Rin, stopping him.

"Shiemi…" The Nephilims mutter, seeing their friend at the ball pit's entrance, huddling on the ground, trying to protect the ghost boy.

"Help!" The sweet blond shouts, and Nee hears Shiemi's cry, creating tree branches around her to protect her. The Nephilims look at each other before running toward their friend.

"You dummy! Run!" Rin groans. "I can't get there in time…" He panics, unleashes his flames, shoots at the beam, and sends it back, melting the ball pit and shaft as Nee sees the clear coast, deactivating the tree branch.

The ghost boy happily squeezes out of Shiemi's arms and floats around her. "Awesome!" The boy beams.

"How can you laugh about it? We were just about to get killed?" Shiemi questions, looking at him.

"So? I'm already dead!" He replies.

"Oh… But still…" She argues weakly.

"I was always sick, so I never got to play outside, I never got yelled at, and nobody ever picked me up!" The spirit tells her and floats down in front of her. "So I really had a good time today. Thank you, Big Sister…" He smiles at her before disappearing.

"Oh…" The sweet girl mutters, missing him already.

+++ BLUE EXORCIST +++

Sayuri crouches next to Rin as he tries to catch his breath after using too much of his flame power, and Amaimon strolls toward them before stomping on his back. "Rin! Amaimon, leave him alone!" Sayuri growls at him.

"What? Are you done with your show?" Amaimon asks, ignoring his Niece as he digs into the teenage boy's back. "How boring for me…" The blond Nephilim growls, getting to her feet. "Elder Brother forbade me from doing this, but if it's come to this, maybe I should break this sword." He grabs the sword, about to break the blade, but Sayuri tries to grab it, and Amaimon sighs, pushing her harshly away, making her skid and roll away along the ground.

"C-Cut it out!" Rin groans weakly.

"Devour the Eight Princesses…" Yamada says, making a light appears between her breasts, and a sword appears that she grabs and pulls out.

"Hmm?" Amaimon senses her, looking up as the gamer jumps toward him with their drawn sword.

"Sever the serpent." She yells, clashing blades, knocking the Demon King back away from young Nephilim.

"Who are you?" He asks, looking at the baggy hoodie-wearing woman, and Sayuri stiffly gets up from where she was thrown to see the familiar-looking sword.

"Oh no…" Sayuri mutters, getting weakly to her feet.

"You! You're Amaimon, King of the Earth, aren't you?" Yamada questions, looking at the Demon King and sitting Rin beside her. "How did a bigshot like you enter this academy?" She stands, and he follows. "Was it Mephisto who brought you here?"

"I wish you'd get out of the way…" Amaimon mutters, hating her for ruining her fun.

"You're the one in my way!" She replies, steadying her blade and getting into a stance ready to strike him, and the Demon King glances at the beaten-up Rin.

"Actually, I've changed my mind." He decides, lowering the Koma sword. "Perhaps another time…" He throws the blade at the blue-haired Nephilim's feet before jumping away.

"Hey, come back here, dammit!" The hoodie-wearing woman shouts after him.

"Farewell." The Demon King calls back, disappearing, and Sayuri runs to Rin's side, catching him before he falls.

"The others will arrive any second. Hide those tails of yours!" Yamada warns them before running after the King of Earth.

"Rin? You'll be okay. You'll get stronger, I promise." Sayuri mutters, combing his hair, tucking his wait under his shirt, and hiding hers. "That damn Big Boobed Snake."

"I can't believe he took my sword away so easily…" Rin grits his teeth in anger and pain. "I can't believe there's someone as powerful as him… I mean, I totally blacked out for a second there…" He thinks back to his childhood when he beat another kid up. "I was no different than I was before!" He clings to Sayuri, close to tears, when Shiemi runs toward them.

"Sunshine! Rin! Are you both all right?" Shiemi asks them, trying to touch him, but he slaps her hand away.

"Don't touch me!" He snaps at her.

"Rin…" She mutters sadly.

"Hey, my bad. It's nothing, okay?" The blue-haired teen tells her, grabbing his sword, and Sayuri helps him to his feet.

"Never mind that. Were you okay?" Sayuri asks her. "What happened to that little perv?"

"He disappeared." Shiemi answers sadly. "He said, 'Thank you, Big Sister…'"

"I see…" Rin smiles, glad she's okay.

"Rin, Sunshine, let's hang out here together sometime for sure!" She beams, smiling at them.

"Definietly!" Sayuri agrees. "We can even go on a double date!" She suggests, making the sweet blond human blush. "You can invite Yuu."

"Shiemi!" Yukio shouts as he runs toward them.

"Speak of the devil," The blond Nephilim snickers, making the girl blush brighter.

"Y-Yuki!" Shiemi stutters.

"Are you all right?" Yukio asks, looking at the blond human.
