We begin at Sweet Apple Acres. Twilight, Luna, and Spike were helping Applejack pick Apples. Spike who was on Twilight's back was trying to find a good apple.

"No, nope, nope."

"Thank you kindly for helping me out Luna and Twilight." Said AJ. "I bet Big McIntosh I could get all these Golden Delicious in the barn by lunchtime. If I win, he's gonna walk down Stirrup Street in one of Granny's girdles."

Luna giggled at this. "No problem at all Applejack."

"I'm glad the goal is lunchtime." Said Twilight. "All this hard work is making me hungry."

"I know right?" Said Spike.

"Please, Spike." Said Twilight. "You've been lounging on my back all morning while we worked."

"Exactly." Spike said. "You three are taking so long, I missed snack time."

Suddenly Twilight's stomach grumbled. "Hehe. I guess we'd better get some food." Spike kept picking apples until he found one that was bright red and perfect. "Oh Spike that looks delicious." Suddenly Spike ate it in one bite.

"Spike!" Said Twilight.

"What?" Suddenly Spike burped and a letter came out.

"Twilight check it out." Said Luna.

"It's a letter from Princess Celestia." Said Twilight.

Spike began reading it. " Hear ye, hear ye. Her Grand Royal Highness, Princess Celestia of Equestria, is pleased to announce the Grand Galloping Gala to be held in the magnificent capital city of Canterlot, on the twenty-first day of..." Spike skipped ahead a little. "Cordially extends an invitation to Twilight Sparkle plus one guest."

Applejack and Twilight looked excited. "The Grand Galloping Gala!"

Spike just looked disgusted.

"Uh, what's the Grand Galloping Gala?" Asked Luna.

"Only the biggest royal celebration in all of Canterlot." Twilight answered.

Spike then burped up another letter and three tickets. "And to the human child Luna, as a way of thanking you for defeating Nightmare Moon and saving my sister, who coincidentally has the same name as you, I'd also like to invite you to attend as well." Spike read.

"That was nice of her." Said Luna.

"Wow great." Said Twilight. "I've never been to the Gala, have you Spike?"

"No, and I plan on keeping it that way." Spike said. "I don't want any of that girly frilly nonsense."

"Oh c'mon Spike." Said Twilight.

"A dance would be nice." Said Luna.

"Nice?" Said Applejack. "It's a heap good more than nice, I'd just love to go." Applejack then began to imagine. "Land sakes, If I had an apple stand set up, ponies would be chowin' our tasty vittles 'til the cows came home. Do you have any idea how much business I could drum up for Sweet Apple Acres?" Applejack imagine ponies buying her apple products. "Why, with all that money, we could do a heap of fixin' up 'round here. We could replace that saggy old roof, and Big McIntosh could replace that saggy old plow, and Granny Smith could replace that saggy old hip." She then imagined the barn being rebuilt, Big Mac and Granny Smith getting their plow and hip replaced.

"Why I'd give my left hind leg to go to that gala." She said.

"Well in that case would you like to-" But before Twilight could finish her sentence Rainbow Dash came out of nowhere.

"Woah!" She crashed right into them. "Are we talking about the Grand Galloping Gala?"

"Rainbow Dash, you told me you were too busy to help me harvest apples." Said Applejack. "What were you busy doing? Spyin'?"

"No I was busy napping." Said Dash. "And I hear that you have an extra ticket?"

"Yeah but-"

"Yes!" Cheered Rainbow. "This is so awesome. The Wonderbolts perform at the Gala every year." Explained Dash.

"They do?" Said Luna.

Rainbow Dash then imagined. "Everyone would be watching the sky, their eyes riveted on the Wonderbolts." She imagined an audience of ponies in the stadium watching the Wonderbolts perform. "But then in would fly Rainbow Dash!" Dash imagined the crowd impressed with her and the Wonderbolts amazed. "I would draw their attention with my Super Speed Strut." She imagined herself zooming by the audience and them cheering her on. "Then I would mesmerize 'em with my Fantastic Filly Flash." Dash imagined her flashing by the audience really fast in the air. "And for my grand finale the Buccaneer Blaze!" She imagined herself doing her trick which created a shockwave which the crowd cheered at and the Wonderbolts jaw-dropped. "The Wonderbolts would insist that my signature moves be incorporated into their routine." Dash imagined the Wonderbolts greeting her before she was flying with them in one of their uniforms. "And then welcome me as their newest member."

"Don't you see Twilight?" Dash asked her. "This could be my one chance to show 'em my stuff." She then got into Twilight's face. "You've gotta take me." Suddenly AJ pulled Dash back.

"Hold on just one pony pickin' minute here." She said. "I asked for that ticket first."

"So?" Asked Rainbow. "That doesn't mean you own it."

"Oh yeah." Applejack said. "Well I challenge you to a hoof wrestle, winner get's the ticket."

"You're on!" Said Dash accepting the challenge.

Both Dash and AJ went and started hoof-wrestling on a nearby tree stump. But both were so evenly strong neither could win. So Twilight stopped them.

"Girls, these are my tickets, I'll decide who gets it, thank you very much." Twilight told them. "Whoever has the best reason to go should get the ticket."

"Yeah I agree with Twilight." Luna told them.

Dash and AJ started giving reasons.

"Drummin' up business for the farm."

"A chance to audition for the Wonderbolts."

"Money to fix Granny's hips."

"Living the dream."

This didn't make Twilight's choice easier. "Oh my those are all pretty good reason's aren't they." Suddenly Twilight's stomach grumbled again. "Listen to that, I am starving. I don't know about you but I can't make important decisions on an empty stomach so I'll, uh, think about it over lunch and get back to you two, okay?"

"Okay." Said Dash and AJ in unison. When Twilight, Luna, and Spike left they went back to hoof wrestling.

"So who you gonna give the extra ticket to Twilight?" Luna wondered.

"I don't know Luna, but I really can't think on an empty stomach." Twilight told her. "So where should we eat?" Suddenly Pinkie Pie came bursting out of Sugar Cube Corner (Her workplace and home) and crashed into Twilight, Luna, and Spike. The tickets landed on her snout and she screamed. "AHH! Bats! Bats! on my face help!" She yelled before realizing. "Wait, these aren't tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!"

Pinkie then began cheering. "It's the most amazing incredible tremendous super-fun wonderful terrifically humongous party in all of Equestria!" She explained "I've always always always wanted to go!"

Pinkie then began singing and imagining herself at the party with balloons, confetti, and games.

PINKIE PIE

Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Hip Hip Hooray! It's the best place for me! For Pinkie!

Pinkie then paused her singing. She imagined snacks, games, and more. "With decorations like streamers and fairy-lights and pinwheels and piñatas and pin-cushions, with goodies like sugar cubes and sugar canes and sundaes and sun-beams and sarsaparilla, and I get to play my favorite-est of favorite fantabulous games like Pin the Tail on the Pony!"

PINKIE PIE

Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Cuz it's the most galarrific superly-terrific gala ever in the whole galaxy! Wheee!

"Oh Twilight this is the best gift ever!" Said Pinkie.

Twilight looked nervous. "Um actually..."

Suddenly Rarity showed up and gasped. "Are these what I think they are?"

"YES YES YES!" Cheered Pinkie. "Twilight's taking me to the Grand Galloping Gala in Canterlot."

"The Gala. I design ensembles for the Gala every year, but I've never had the opportunity to attend." Rar0ity told them. "Oh the society, the culture, the glamour. It's where I truly belong and where I'm destined to meet him."

"Him." Said Pinkie before realizing. "Who?"

"Him." Said Rarity before imaging. "I would stroll through the gala, and everyone would wonder, who is that mysterious mare?" Rarity imagined herself at The Gala all the ponies gazing at her. "They would never guess that I was just a simple old pony from Ponyville. Why I would cause such a sensation that I would be invited for an audience with Princess Celestia herself." Rarity imagined herself meeting Princess Celestia. "And the princess would be so taken with my style and elegance that she would introduce me to him." She then imagined Princess Celestia introducing her to a male unicorn. "Her nephew, the most handsome, eligible, unicorn stallion in all of Canterlot." Rarity then imagined her and the stallion dancing. "Our eyes would meet, our hearts would melt. Our courtship would be magnificent." Rarity then imagined the stallion proposing to her. "He would ask for my hoof in marriage, and of course I would say, YES!" Rarity then imagined her and the stallion getting married. "We would have a royal wedding befitting a princess, which is what I would become upon marrying him. The stallion of my dreams."

"Twilight, I simply cannot believe that you would invite Pinkie Pie so she can party and prevent me from meeting my true love." Said Rarity. "How could you?"

Suddenly a bunny came out of nowhere and snatched the tickets from Spike. "Hey!"

The bunny went to Fluttershy and gave showed her the tickets. "Huh. Angel these are perfect."

"Rarity with all do respect, you don't even know this guy." Luna pointed out. "And yet, you wanna marry him? Don't you think your getting way too ahead of yourself?" She asked. "Even if he is all that, he's not gonna ask you to marry him in one day."

"Yeah and look I haven't decided who to give the extra ticket to." Twilight told them.

"You haven't?" They said in unison. Pinkie in worry and Rarity in relief.

Then Fluttershy showed up. "Um, excuse me, Twilight, I would just like to ask, I mean, if it would be all right, if you haven't given it to someone else."

"You want to go to the Gala?" Asked Rarity.

"Oh no." Said Fluttershy but Angel then tapped her hoof. "Well yes, I mean kind of."

Fluttershy then began imagining. "It's not so much the Grand Galloping Gala as it is the wondrous private gated garden that surrounds the dance." Fluttershy imagined herself in the Canterlot garden. "The flowers are said to be the most beautiful and fragrant in all of Equestria. For the night of the gala, and that night alone, would they all be in bloom, and that's just the flora, don't get me started on the fauna." Fluttershy imagined herself sniffing flowers. "There's loons and toucans and bitterns, oh my. Hummingbirds that can really hum, and buzzards that can really buzz. Blue jays, and red jays, and green jays, and pink jays and pink flamingos!"

"Gee Fluttershy." Said Luna. "It sounds beautiful."

"Wait just a minute." They looked to see Rainbow Dash on the roof of a nearby building. She flew down.

"Rainbow Dash." Said Twilight. "Were you following me?"

"No, yes, maybe." Said Dash. "Look it doesn't matter, I couldn't risk a goody four shoes like you giving that ticket to just anybody."

Then Applejack showed up. "Now wait just another minute."

"Applejack were you following me too?" Asked Twilight.

"No I was following this one." She said pointing at Rainbow Dash. "To make sure she didn't try any funny business. Still trying to take my ticket."

"Your ticket?"

"But Twilight's taking me."

And then the five started arguing.

"QUIET!" Screamed Twilight.

"And then I said, "Oatmeal, are you crazy—" oh."

"Girls there's no use in arguing." Said Twi.

"But Twilight-"

"Eh, this is my decision and I'm gonna make it on my own and I certainly can't think with all this noise." Twilight told them before her stomach grumbled again. "Not to mention hunger. Now go on shoo."

The others left. "And don't worry I'll figure this out." Said Twilight. "Somehow."

Later Spike, Luna, and Twilight were getting some lunch.

"What am I gonna do you guys?" Twilight asked. All five of my best friends have really good reasons to go to the gala. Applejack, or Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy, Rarity, oh, who should go with me?"

Then the waiter came. "Have you made your decision?"

"I CAN"T DECIDE!" Twilight yelled making a scene.

"Twilight, he just wants to take our order." Said Luna.

"Oh, I would love a daffodil and daisy sandwich." Twilight told him.

"I'll have a light salad." Luna said.

"Do you have any rubies?" Asked Spike. "No, okay I'll have the hay fries, extra crispy."

"What do you think Spike?"

" I think we have to try another restaurant." Said Spike. "I mean I like grass just fine but would it hurt anybody to offer some gemstones?"

"She means about the ticket and who she should take." Said Luna.

"Oh she's still on that?"

"Spike listen." Twilight said. "How do I choose? And when I do choose will the other four be mad at me? I mean I could give up my ticket and give away two, but that would still leave three disappointed ponies. What if I—" Then the food came.

"That was fast." Said Luna.

"Oh thank you, this looks so good." Twilight complimented the food. "I'm sure everything will be much clearer once I eat."

But before they could dig in they noticed everypony else going inside the restaurant. "Madame are you going to eat in the rain?"

"It's not raining." Said Twilight.

"Yes it is, on everything except us." Said Luna.

"What's going on?" Asked Twi.

They then looked up in the clouds to see an opening with Rainbow Dash in it. "Hi there, best friend forever I've ever ever had." Dash said. "Enjoying the sunny weather?"

"Rainbow Dash what are you doing?" Luna asked.

"What you mean?" She asked "I just saw the smartest, most generous pony about to get rained on, so I thought I'd kick a hole in the clouds to keep her dry so she could dine in peace, that's all."

Twilight didn't buy it. "Rainbow, you're not trying to get extra consideration, for the extra ticket, by doing me extra special favors, are you?"

"Me?" Said Dash. "No of course not. I'd do it for anypony." They saw all the other ponies trying to get out of the rain.

"Really?" Said Luna sarcastically.

"Rainbow I am not comfortable accepting unwanted favors so I'd appreciate it if you close up that rain cloud right now." Twilight said.

"Fine." Rainbow said before closing up the opening.

"That's better." Said Twilight. But her attitude changed when it rained on her, spoiling her lunch.

Then Rarity showed up with an umbrella. "Twilight, Luna, it's raining."

"No really?" Said Twilight sarcastically.

Rarity then dragged them. "Come with me before you get a cold."

Later they were at the Carousel Boutique. Twilight shook the water off herself and drenched Rarity.

"Oops. Sorry." Said Twilight.

"Oh no, it's quite all right. After all, we are the best of friends, are we not?" Said Rarity. "And you know what the best of friends do?"

"Uh?"

"Makeovers."

Rarity then put a nice outfit on Twilight.

"You're simply dazzling." Said Rarity.

"Yeah it is kinda pretty."

"And you Luna." Said Rarity. She then put a lovely sea green dress with white gloves on her.

"Wow it goes great with my hair." Said Luna.

"And you Spike." Said Rarity. "I have a dandy little outfit for the dashing gent."

Rarity then put an outfit on Spike.

They all giggled while Spike wasn't happy.

"Now you just need a hat."

"I told you, I don't want any part of this girly gala gunk, see you back at the library." He said before storming off.

"Oh, who needs him anyway? This is all about you and how fabulous you'll look at the Grand Galloping Gala." Rarity said.

Twilight's expression then changed. "Wait the Grand-"

"And oh, my goodness, what a coincidence. I happen to have an ensemble of my own that matches yours." Rarity pointed out. "We would be the belles of the ball, you and I, everyone would be clamoring for our attention, all eyes would be on us, and then everyone would finally know the most beautiful, most talented, most sophisticated pony in all of Equestria is Rarity the unicorn." She said before realizing something. "And Twilight Sparkle too of course."

Twilight didn't buy it.

"I see what's going on." Said Twilight. "You're just buttering me up so I give you the extra ticket, well it's not gonna work. You're going to have to wait for my decision just like everyone else. Now if you'll excuse me I've been trying all day just to get some lunch."

Then Applejack came out of nowhere. "Did somepony say lunch?" She dragged Twilight out. Luna just face palmed.

Twilight jaw dropped at the sight of AJ's wheel barrow filled with food. "You've got to be kidding me."

"I got apple pie, apple fritters, apple tarts, apple dumplings, apple crisps, apple crumblers, and apple Brown Betty." Applejack the clarified. "Uh the dessert, not my auntie." What do you say there, best friend?" She asked.

Twilight's stomach grumbled.

"Is that a yes?"

"No. No." Said Twilight. " I don't know who I'm giving the ticket to and all these favors aren't making it any easier to decide." Twilight told Applejack. "In fact I'm less sure now than I was this morning." Twilight said before running off.

"So that's a maybe?" Asked Applejack.

Luna (who was now in her normal clothes) just glared at her before going to catch up with Twilight. They made their way back to the library.

"I never thought being showered in favors could be so aggravating." Said Twilight.

"It is when they're trying to help themselves more than you." Said Luna.

When they opened the library door they saw Fluttershy and her animals cleaning the library.

"Fluttershy not you too." Said Twilight.

"Oh hello Twilight and Luna." Said Fluttershy. "I hope you guys don't mind but we're just doing a little Spring cleaning for you."

"It's Summer." Said Luna.

"Oh well better late then never." Fluttershy said. "It was Angel's idea."

"You're not just doing this for the ticket are you?" Asked Twilight.

"Oh no, I'm doing this because your my very best friends. Right Angel?" Said Fluttershy. Angel just glared at her. "Yes, we are just doing this for the ticket."

"So the truth comes out and to think I thought you'd be above this." Said Luna.

"Well this was all very nice of you and Angel but I'm not accepting any extra favors until I've made my final decision." Said Twilight. "So I'm going to have to ask you to leave." But when Twilight opened the door...

"SURPRISE!" Pinkie dragged her out and began singing.

PINKIE PIE

Twilight is my bestest friend. Whoopie. Whoopie.

As she sung she and the other ponies began throwing Twilight up and down. "Pinkie."

PINKIE PIE

She's the cutest, smartest, all around best pony, pony.

"Pinkie."

PINKIE PIE

I bet if I throw a super-duper fun party, party.

"Pinkie."

PINKIE PIE

She'll give her extra ticket to the Gala to me.

"PINKIE!"

"Yes Twilight?"

"At least the others tried to be subtle about the ticket." Said Twilight.

"Wait, what ticket?" Asked a pony. "What Gala?"

"Oh, you didn't know?" Asked Pinkie, which made Twilight get nervous. "Twilight has an extra ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala."

"THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA?!" They all said.

Suddenly Twilight was being surrounded by other ponies all wanting the ticket.

Spike and Luna came and they all tried to escape but were surrounded again.

"What are we gonna do?" Asked Spike.

"We're gonna...RUN!"

They all kept running and running into different ponies all over town. Hiding in different places before being cornered. This caused Twilight to use a teleportation spell by accident. Fortunately it brought them back to the library. Spike was sizzled.

"Warn me next time you're gonna do that." Spike said.

"I didn't even know it was gonna happen." Twilight revealed. "Now quick lock the doors." They waisted no time in locking the doors and windows and turning off the lights. But when they sat down to relax the lights suddenly flicked on and they saw their friends.

"AHH!" Twilight screamed. " I can't decide, I just can't decide." She said. "It's important to all of you and I just can't stand to disappoint any of you and giving me gifts and doing me favors won't make any difference because you're all my friends and I wanna make you all happy and I can't, I just can't."

"You guys should be ashamed of yourselves." Said Luna. "Pestering poor Twilight over a ticket. I have half a mind to tell Ancient Fairy Dragon about this."

Applejack walked up to them. "Twilight sugar I didn't mean to put so much pressure on you, and if it helps I don't want the ticket anymore." Said Applejack. "You can give it to somepony else and I won't feel bad, I promise."

Fluttershy then flew up to them. "Me too. I just feel awful that I made you feel awful."

"And me too." Said Pinkie. "It's no fun upsetting your friends."

"Twilight it was unfair of me to try to force you as I did." Rarity admitted.

"Yes." Cheered Rainbow Dash." That means the ticket is all mine.

"I got the ticket, I got the ticket." She sung but then realized the others were glaring at her. "You know, I haven't perfected my signature moves for the Wonderbolts anyway. I don't need that ticket either."

"We all got so gung-ho about going to the gala that we couldn't see how un-gung-ho we were making you." Said Applejack.

"We're sorry Twilight." They all said in unison.

"Spike take a letter please." Said Twilight. "Dear Princess Celestia, I've learned that one of the joys of friendship is sharing your blessings but when there's not enough blessings to go around having more than your friends can make you feel pretty awful. So though I appreciate the invitation I will be returning both tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala."

"What?"

"If my friends can't all go then I don't wanna go either." Said Twilight.

"Wait." Said Luna. "If Twilight's giving up her tickets then it's only fair that I give up mine. So Spike tell her I'm sending mine back too."

"Girls you don't have to do that." Said AJ.

"Nope I've made up my mind." Said Twilight.

"So have I." Luna agreed. "Spike you can send the letter now."

Spike sent it.

"Now you girls won't get to go either." Said Fluttershy.

"It's okay." Said Luna.

"I couldn't possibly enjoy myself without all my best friends there." Said Twilight. "So I'd rather not go at all."

"Awww." They all hugged.

Suddenly Spike looked like he was gonna be sick.

"Well wallop my withers, Spike. Isn't that just like a boy?" Said Applejack angrily. "Can't handle the least bit of sentiment.

Suddenly Spike burped up another letter.

"Woah Nelly!"

"A letter from the princess." Said Twilight. "That was fast."

"What's it say?" Asked Luna.

Spike began reading it. "My faithful student Twilight, why didn't you just say so in the first place?" Spike then found something. "Seven tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala."

"Now we can all go." Said Twilight happily. They all cheered. Before Twilight's stomach grumbled. "Hehe."

"Allow us to treat you to dinner." Said Rarity.

"What a great way to apologize." Said Rainbow.

"And to celebrate." Said Pinkie. "C'mon everyone, the cupcakes are on me."

As the seven friends exited the library Spike gave each of them a ticket. But then he realized something. "How come I don't get a ticket to the Gala?" He asked sadly before burping up another letter. "And one for you Spike." He ran out happily but changed his attitude when Applejack saw him. "I mean gross I have to go too." He faked being upset before racing to catch up with the others. He and Applejack just laughed.
