"AND START!"
[With Mina]
Mina left her new friend behind in a blink, already within the city and skating to the very first robot that appeared before her. She heard a shout and explosion some distance behind her but ignored it in favor of the One-pointer rushing towards her on its one wheel and readying an attack.
"Target acquired- kill!" It stated out loud and took a swing at her, but Mina only grinned and ducked underneath the attack, acid launching from her hand as she skated by it and catching it between the wheel and main body. The acid melted through it as if the metal wasn't even an issue, causing the robot to fall into two pieces as she darted away and headed deeper into the city. She reached for her phone and pressed the side to start playing a random song, her smile growing bigger as a familiar tune started up.
[Trouble by Neon Jungle]
She began to speed through the streets as the music kicked in, robots quickly coming out to try and slow her down, but only ended up adding to her score. Missiles were launched, rubber bullets trailing behind her as she raced ahead, her smile still on her face as she continued her one-woman robot melting spree.
She started coming across other applicants, her eyes widening as she saw a group of them fleeing from a large batch of them, chasing them down and sending missiles and bullets down range at the group.
"Hey! Pay attention to me Skynet wannabes!" She shouted as she sped towards them.
A single Three-pointer, surrounded by a gaggle of Ones and Twos, turned to the call out and began to react to her presence, by then it was far too late for them to do anything as Mina was among them a moment later.
She used a Two-pointer's bad leg, an attempt to slow it down from one of the applicants attacks, to launch herself over the group and landed on top of the Three-pointer, just between the missile launchers, a grin on her face as she began to spin with her hands out a drenching all the villain robots in the area. She gave a small feminine curtsy to the awed group of applicants as the robots melted around her, the Three-pointer turning towards the group to attack only to shudder and fall silent, acid spilling out from the undercarriage as Mina lifted her back foot to reveal a hole from her acid boring through it and destroying the power source.
Mina gave the group a small wave before hopping off and began to skate away, a frown on her face as she tried to remember how many robots she had destroyed. The last group had about seven Ones and Twos with that Three-Pointer, but couldn't recall the actual number. She shrugged as she launched out a ball of acid to a One Pointer as it tried to crush a midget with weird balls as hair, destroying the head as it slumped down in front of the terrified shorty.
"Than-thank you!" He called out to her as she gave him a beaming smile and skated away.
She hummed as she ducked a flying missile and turned to head to the Three-Pointer as it was trying to crush a pale-gray haired teen, and she couldn't help but admire the somewhat stylish workout clothes she was wearing. She winced as she saw the girl throw her hands forwards, with scores of debris slamming into the Three-Pointer with little effect as it rumbled forward to keep engaging the girl.
"Huh… Kind of like Mama Inko," Mina said out loud as she raced forward. "But without the oomph to back it up!"
She watched as she scrambled away, barely avoiding the fist as it slammed into the street, her pale face going into a shade of white that was similar to paper at the action, her placid face looking a little concern about her situation as it began to swing its arm to knock her out even when she tried to throw a trash can into its face to slow it down.
Mina had let loose a stream of acid, melting the arm into a puddle before it could complete its swing, the girl falling onto her butt as she stared at the bubbling liquid. Mina had raced forward before leaping up as the Three-Pointer turned to face her, just to get a face full of Hero-grade sneakers to the optical sensors, before its entire head was doused in acid and destroying the processor.
She performed a backflip as it slumped to the ground and landed in front of the teen who was staring at her with a blank expression, blinking at the hand that was held out towards her before looking back at the warm smile on her face. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine…" She whispered a bit as she got up, her arms and hands taking a posture that seemed familiar to Mina as the girl gave a small huff. "My quirk isn't that strong against these robots it seems. Perhaps my fate isn't one for the Hero course after all."
"Huh? Why?" Mina asked as she looked over at her. "Your quirk reminds me of my boyfriend's mom. And she can do a lot with it!"
"Is that so? Hmm. My quirk is one that is limited in scope to a normal person's weight. Therefore I am limited to what I can lift and throw due to weight limitations. Unfortunately there is very little in terms of something heavy enough for me to throw at the robots and have it actually succeed in terms of damage." She explained, which caused Mina's mind to wander a bit from how… verbose she was in explaining to her. Mina shook her head and indicated for her to come to her and pointed at a certain section of the half-melted robot. She pointed to a section just behind the head of the robot, something she saw when she was spinning on top of one earlier, with a red button with the words 'shutdown' labeled on it. The girl blinked slowly at this and simply said. "Oh… This is the most fortuitous information to gain so far during this test… This will be much easier now, thank you."
"Glad I can help ya out! Go out there and do your best!" She cheered as she began to slide backwards, a radiant smile on her face as she waved goodbye to the girl, who gave her a slow nod but with a small smile on her lips as she waved back. With that, Mina turned and began to skate away, leaving the odd girl behind. She hummed as a new song started up as she raced through the back alleys before she began to slide onto the main roads.
[Lucky Strike by Maroon 5]
"Oh! Now I know! She reminds me of those Chinese vampires… ghosts? Huh, something to ask Izuku later… whoa!"
In front of her was chaos as prospective students tried to fight the Pointers, some of them not doing so well in her eyes as she raced forward and began to help them. She slid across the road as if she was dancing, her hands lashing out and throwing acid to joints or cameras of the various robots she passed.
Some of them were destroyed on the spot, others were slowed down enough to allow those fighting to get a leg up on them, but overall she was helping everyone around to the best of her ability as she made her way down the various streets. She came across the same vicious blonde from earlier that morning as well, but made her question why he was really there in the first place. He looked like a berserker who was just catching a second wind as he heaved in gulps of air, the entire street filled with pieces of the Pointers surrounding him with many of the examinees staring from a distance at the boy with pale features.
"3 MINUTES LEFT!" She heard the part time DJ call out over the city, making her frown as she tried to tally up the number of robots she had destroyed but a much greater concern caught her attention, along with everyone else.
[With Izuku, Same time]
Izuku bolted through the doors and activated the Full Gauntlets, watching for a moment of child-like wonder as his hands and forearms were covered in the technological magic before his eyes, shaking his head before focusing on the task ahead of him.
He had not yet entered Full Cowling just yet to save his strength, figuring there might be more to this test than it appears to be. It was much too simple and straightforward in Izuku's eyes, so he decided to save up his full strength he could muster. He turned down an alleyway, eyes widening as he saw a One-Pointer charging straight at him with a Two-pointer following close behind it.
"Full Cowling, 6%" He muttered, ducking underneath a swipe before uppercutting the robot's head, making it explode into a shower of metal and circuitry. He quickly spun and launched a straight kick into its faltering chest, sending it sprawling into the Two-Pointer behind it. He leaped up, kicking against the wall, internally wincing at the cracks forming from the launch as he flew over the struggling Two-Pointer. He felt gravity reassert itself over him, his fist chambered back and unleashed a devastating blow on the Two-Pointer's body, crushing it like it was nothing more than a can of soda.
"Need to talk to Melissa to see if I can get some footwear that can act like the Gauntlets or something else entirely." Izuku mumbled to himself as he shook his leg before he leaped onto the wall and made his way to the roof. He raced across the rooftop before leaping off and dive-bombing an unsuspecting Three-Pointer, crushing it into the ground.
He heard the racing of footsteps from behind him and turned to see a large bulky teen with what looked like he had a rock for a head racing down an alley with a panicked look on his face, quickly followed by a Two-Pointer. Izuku winced as he heard the boy call out in a high-pitch tone, trying to call for help.
"Please help me, my friends! Attack the red spot!" Izuku had no idea who the boy was calling out to, but he knew he needed help, and that was all that mattered to Izuku. He quickly took off after him, seeing the teen find himself at a dead end and turning to see the Two-Pointer closing in on him.
"I got you!" Izuku called out as he leaped onto the walls to gain some height to crush it and was in the process of doing so until the Two-Pointer simply slumped to the ground, causing him to yelp and land on the now downed robot in confusion. "Huh?"
A small cough gained his attention, the rock-head teen gave him a grateful smile, but quietly pointed at a section of the robot, seeing the 'shutdown' button that was being pecked at by various birds with gusto. He turned back to see Izuku's eyes filled with brilliant light as he got close to the teen, causing him to silently yelp and back up a bit.
"Isthatyourquirk?Youcanspeakwithanimalsorjustsmallbirds?Howlongcanyoucontrolthem?Isitonlyvoicebasedorcanyouconnecttothemonatelepathiclink?Howdidyoufindoutto-" Izuku paused, his eyes blinking as the rock-head teen waved his arms in a panic before pointing at his wrist to show a digital clock with a timer winding down. "Oh right! Sorry, maybe we can talk later? Your quirk is very interesting!"
The teen gave him a thankful nod, watching as Izuku leapt onto the wall and headed to the roof, waving goodbye to him before giving a firm nod of determination.
Though it took him a moment to get his knees to stop shaking.
Izuku continued to bounce around the battle arena, helping out a few struggling applicants that were being overwhelmed by the exam robots. He more or less lost track of his points as he helped out the best he can, figuring it was more important to try and be a team player rather than try and kill-steal some of the robots just for points. One particular examinee caught his attention while helping another one out, with him yelling in frustration at how unfair the exam was.
"AGH! FUCK THIS EXAM!" The purple hair teen roared as he dodged another swipe from a One-Pointer. "How are people with my kind of quirk supposed to pass!?"
Izuku came flying down the road, his quirk coating him as raced towards him before he managed a perfect baseball slide, knocking it off its wheel and landing on its side. "Quick, hit the button behind its head, just above the neck area!"
The boy blinked but managed to get on the struggling robot and saw the 'shutdown' button before slamming down on it, causing the One-Pointer to shut down. He groaned as he sat down on it, holding his head in shame, Izuku wincing at the defeated look on his face and lightly patted his shoulder. The boy looked frustrated at the motion but gave a tired sigh as he couldn't get mad at him for giving him a chance to get a point. "Thanks."
"No problem." Izuku gave him a slight smile. "I know it's a little late, considering almost six minutes have passed, but you can still try to get some points. If the teachers see you still trying to get in, it might benefit you later down the line when you try to get in the course later on in the school year."
The boy blinked at this, staring at Izuku with surprise. "Yeah… I guess you are right. Sheesh, man this is a drag. My quirk isn't up for this kind of thing."
Izuku wanted to ask him about his quirk, but stomped down on his nerd-out before he got ahead of himself. He looked him over a bit, a frown on his face at how lanky the boy is before holding out his hand to help him up. "I suggest you start working out now to get in shape, the Heroic Course isn't for the light-hearted, it will really push you to your limits, and between you and me, one of the teachers is an asshole. There might be a good chance he will kick you out because he feels you won't have potential, even if you managed to get in from the Sport's Festival."
The teen raised an eyebrow as he took the hand and winced as he felt the green hair teen picked him up without issue and felt like his arm was yanked out of its socket. "How do you know?"
"My mom's a nurse here." Izuku gave him a tired look, showing far more years than a teen his age should have. "She constantly complains about him."
The teen snorted at this, causing Izuku to chuckle with him before they looked up when they heard a callout from Present Mic.
"3 MINUTES LEFT!"
[With Present Mic]
The DJ had just finished calling out the time, watching the battle arenas shake as some buildings parted ways to reveal a giant robot coming out, sighing as his earpiece was filled with the maniacal laughter of his boss filled the channel.
"YES! YES! COME FORTH MY ZERO POINTERS! SHOW THOSE LOWLY APPLICANTS THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE GOAL IN THIS TEST! TO SHOW US WHO IS WORTHY OF-!?"
Mic blinked as he heard what sounded like a scuffle happening in his earpiece. "What the-"
"Ah! Wait, Inko. Stop! Makoda, please let go of my ear. It is not a chew toy! Ouch! Ouch! Inko please pull your-!? No. Do not pick me up! Gah!?"
He gave a grin as he heard a muttering coming from Shouta, but a roar of laughter overwhelmed the channel so he was unable to hear what he said, but he hoped that the security camera caught what was happening so he could review it later for a good laugh. He turned back to the mock-up cities, hearing the cries of panic rising when the Zero-Pointers began their move, buildings being shoved aside as they made their way in a pre-determine path set up by Nezdu. "Let's see if you have what it takes, Little Listeners. Go! Plus Ultra!"
[Mina]
Mina raced forward as she heard the screams from her fellow test-takers, eyes open with shock as she got to the main street in the battle arena, staring at the massive robot as it chased after fleeing examinees.
"Run!"
"I didn't sign up for this!?"
"What the hell, UA?!"
Teens rushed past her, fleeing in terror at the massive robot doing its best to crush them. Mina felt herself take a step back, swallowing nervously as the robot was getting closer to her. Then she felt herself scream when the Zero-Pointer swung its arm through the buildings beside it, sending debris flying.
"Everyone duck!" She yelled, reaching out and grabbing the same purple-ball head shorty from earlier and ducking into a building as the debris fell from the sky. The teen in her arms shook, but thanked her profusely for saving him again. She only gave a shaky smile before heading back out, much to his shock.
"HEY!? Where are you going!? It might be safer here!" The ball-headed teen chased after her, watching as she stood in silence, seeing everyone groaning and struggling to stand while the Zero-Pointer moved forward once again. Mina was going to suggest trying to help everyone up and get out of the way before a large number of Pointers showed up and put that plan on the backburner.
Her breath hitched as she struggled with herself, unaware she wasn't the only one.
[Izuku]
Izuku and the purple-haired teen race down the alleyway to the main street, Izuku giving him a small smile while doing so. "Name is Izuku Yagi by the way."
"Hitoshi Shinso." Shinso breathed out as he struggled to keep up, seeing Izuku barely winded at all. They watched as dozens of teens raced by, with some limping from being injured fighting the Pointers. Izuku turned the corner, stopping in place in shock before shoving Shinso back, and before the teen could shout out in anger at the move, the place Izuku was just standing on was filled with debris. He stared as a piece of roof slid past the opening of the alleyway, pale-faced at what almost happened. "What the fuck, UA."
Izuku stepped back out, followed by Shinso, both of their eyes trained on the large robot as it made its way down the street towards them.
"Seriously… What the fuck, UA." Shinso muttered as he took a step back. "We need to leave."
Izuku ignored him as his eyes trained on the many teens still trying to get up and leave. He saw a familiar mop of brown hair laying on the ground buried under some debris. He took a step forward only to pause as a large number of Pointers began to group up before the lumbering Zero-Pointer and began to move forward.
"I…" Izuku swallowed, trying to figure out what to do next. Fear settled in his gut, knowing full well this was just a test, but was a normal reaction for the situation he was in. He began to recall a moment, one of the final lessons Disco ever taught him and Mina before her passing.
[Six Years ago]
Izuku and Mina watched as Disco stretched out before getting ready for her patrol, a question burning in both nine soon to be ten year olds.
"Disco." Izuku gained her attention, frowning at the quiet tone he was using. "I wanted to ask something."
"Yeah?" Disco smiled at him, rubbing his cheek a bit to get him to giggle a bit. "What is it?"
"What do you do… when you feel too scared to do anything?" Izuku asked quietly. Disco hummed a bit before reaching for her phone and pulling up a video.
It was a familiar video, showing both Inko and Kokoro fighting against a villain that tried to hurt All Might by hurting Disco and her friends. "I remember feeling anger at being useless in that attack, but frightened at what would happen to you all. But your moms were pretty strong in holding him off long enough for Toshi to show up."
"Mamas look so cool." Mina whispered, Disco rubbing her hair a bit at this, but sighed a little.
"But, your moms were so very scared too." Disco continued, "They are not trained to handle villains like me, Gunhead, or All Might. They were put into that position because of that musclehead villain, but they fought the best they could. Do you want to know why?"
"Uh… Because they would be hurt if they didn't?" Mina answered, only to yelp as she got her nose flicked. "Owie!"
"No, Alien Queen, because they had something to protect. Something that they were willing to put themselves in danger because they lose something so precious to them that it would destroy them." Disco answered, smiling as she raised both hands to point at them. "You two are their worlds. They will fight for you, push past that fear to help you survive. That is something all heroes have within them."
She leaned down, giving them both a beaming smile as she ruffled their hairs. "That is what it means to be a hero after all. To do something that scares you silly, but you do it anyways because it's the right thing to do."
"Ah… what's that saying going for UA…. Hmm… Oh right-"
[Now]
[You Say Run- Go Beyond]
"Go Beyond…" Izuku and Mina whispered to themselves, unaware of their unintentional partners listening to them. "Plus Ultra!"
[Security Room]
Toshinori smiled and it couldn't get bigger if he tried, watching as both Mina and Izuku shot forward, towards the Zero Pointer and its small Army. "That's right, children. Push past your limits and doubts, it is time you show us who you truly are!"
[Mina]
She shot forward, rushing past fleeing teens as she forged ahead, her eyes trained on the growing army of Pointers coming right at her. She was about to start throwing her acid before a deluge of purple balls were flung before her, catching many of the Pointers as they ran over them and causing them to be stuck in place.
She blinked in surprise before realizing a weight was settled on her back, turning slightly to see a very fearful and familiar teen clinging on to her. "What are you doing here?!"
"What am I doing!? I don't know! I tried to stop you but you just said 'Plus Ultra' and ran forward!" he cried out as he continued to throw many of the balls from his head to stop the horde of robots. Mina couldn't help but laugh a little as she danced around the stumbling robots, the boy clinging on tightly as he could, "Gah!? So dizzy?"
"Just hold on a little longer!" She called out as she danced through them, more than a little impressed as the boy continued to toss balls out while looking green in the face. She was planning on using as little acid as possible to build up her reserve, but the teen was helping out immensely in that regard. "Name's Mina. Mina Ashido!"
"Minoru Mineta, watch out!" he cried out, the world slowing to a crawl as the girl limbo her way past a swing from a One-Pointer, his own tear-filled face reflecting in the lens of the robot while Mina's was filled with a confident smile.
"Nice to meet you!" She laughed as she hopped over a Two-Pointer while Mineta only cried out in terror, all the while flinging his balls to all the robots surrounding him.
[Izuku]
"Help her out!" He called out to Shinso, directing him to the pinned girl. "I will take care of the Pointers."
Izuku shot forward like a rocket, passing a familiar blue-hair teen as he stumbled from how quick the boy was moving.
"Right." Shinso muttered as he quickly jogged his way to the brunette that was heaving as she tried to reach the top boulder that was pinning her. So focused on freeing herself, she never saw Izuku lay waste to the Pointers heading her way.
Izuku was like a whirlwind of punches and kicks, he found out the hard way that he really needed something to protect his legs and feet for most of his attacks, so he began to use Melissa's Full Gauntlets in full to protect his legs from further harm.
It wasn't really his style of fighting though, he was more of a counterattack kind of fighter compared to Mina's more 'In your face' kind of attack. But he was able to make due, forcing the Pointers to try and gang up on him as he continued his wrecking spree to get to the Zero-Pointer. He grabbed a One-Pointer's arm and began to swing it around him, knocking most of the Pointers out of his way like it was a giant club before the main body was sent flying away.
[Same time]
Both Zero-Pointers noticed the applicants heading towards itself, raising an arm to slam down on the approaching test-takers, it verified the proper action to take to ensure that they perform the right actions for their safety.
It shouldn't have even bothered.
Both arms slammed down on the ground, but both teens (And one hitchhiker) avoided the blow with ease, and counterattacked immediately after the fact.
Mina Ashido lashed out with a powerful acid, drenching nearly half the arm and latching onto it as it pulled away, with a screaming Minoru Minteta on her back in tow.
Izuku Yagi had quickly jumped onto the arm and began to race up it towards the main body, arcs of lighting covering his body.
[Mina]
Mineta was thinking the girl was completely insane as the arm began to rise with them on it, only to pale as the sound of metal groaning as the acid ate through it like it was a piece of meat in a piranha tank. He shrieked as the rest of the arm fell with them on it, only for Mina to leap off and hold out her hands filled with acid and latched onto the main body of the Zero-Pointer.
The sound of the arm crashing onto the ground, along with crushing a few of the remaining Pointers was lost to him as they slid down the body, a long gash forming from the acid left behind until they landed on the main platform of the Zero-Pointer.
"Made it!" Mina cheered.
"Oh thank god." Mineta whimpered out. He then felt Mina gently trying to shrug him off. "Please don't leave me up here!?"
"Sorry, but what I am about to do is going to be dangerous, so you need to get off and get some distance away from me." Mina said calmly to him, gently coaxing him off her back. The sound of warning sirens from the Zero-Pointer gained their attention as they watched as some of the Pointers tried to get onto the main platform to stop the duo. "Can you slow them down for me?"
Mineta swallowed nervously, but seeing the smile on her face caused his own to flush with embarrassment which just made him nod rapidly. "Yeah! I can! What are you going to do?"
"Me?" Mina began to walk towards the main portion of the Zero-Pointer, where the torso met with the main platform of the rumbling giant. "I'm going to bring it down!"
[Izuku]
Izuku raced up the arm as it rose back up, its head tracking Izuku, but the teen's main focus was on the neck region, connecting the head to the torso of the Zero-Pointer.
'Maintenance Entrance'
"Jackpot." Izuku crowed, only to hear a familiar whistling sound as he turned to see a dozen missiles racing towards him from the still grounded Three-Pointers. He scowled as he began to rush forward, within his mind, he bolstered his body further to get the desired results.
'Full Cowling- 10%!'
The missiles slammed into where Izuku last stood, but the teen was already moving towards the entrance, his left arm glowing as he reached the entrance way and launched a punch at it, caving the door from its frame. The left gauntlet cracked, but was still workable for the time being, Izuku smiling a bit at this before he looked down the shaft to see how far it would go. He didn't have time to ponder as more missiles were heading his way and he quickly descended down into the depths of the Zero-Pointer.
[Security Room]
"ONE MINUTE!"
Shota frowned at the two, or maybe three, would-be students attacking the Zero-Pointer. He lost track of Yagi's kid within the Zero-Pointer, while Ashido was leaping onto the main section of her own Zero-Pointer, while her impromptu partner was throwing balls at the other Pointers and slowing them down from climbing on board.
"What the hell are they doing?" He muttered, unaware that All Might was listening before he gave a boisterous laugh, making him give the Number One hero a glare. "What is it? You got something to say."
"Nothing much, Aizawa. Just that those two are about to show the meaning of 'Plus Ultra' that this school motto takes to heart! Watch and learn!"
His frown deepened as he realized at some point that the large hero managed to 'save' Nezu from Yagi's child, but the girl was happily gurgling away in the massive man's arms, focusing on Mina's face from the screen before her. The girl looked right at home in the massive hero's arm, not even showing slight discomfort at being held by a stranger, he turned his head to said mother of the baby but realized she had left at some point to go down and helped the injured students once the timer ran out.
'Ah, right. Her husband works for All Might, so might not be the first time he held her. Hmm? Aizawa thought to himself before looking back at his screen, blinking in surprise as he saw what happened.
"What?"
[Mina]
Mina leaped up and landed on top of the structure that connected the upper body to the platform, a smirk on her face as she held up her arms and pointed at the connecting pieces. Her hands seemed to balloon up and she cupped them together, as if they were filling with water and her grin became a wide smile.
"Ta-ta!" She called out in a sing-song voice before a torrent of acid flew out of her cupped hands, as if the stream of acid was coming out of a hose. The force was great enough to push the acid user a foot or so back, but she steady herself and kept the stream up, moving her arms to coat the entire back side of the Zero-Pointer.
More alarms rang out as the acid began to eat at the metal, the Zero-Pointer was unable to do anything and the superstructure began to weaken from the loss of metal that held it together. A few seconds later the Zero-Pointer gave one last alarm before it sank forward, breaking off from the main platform and slumping to the ground, the lights in it dimming as it shut down from the catastrophic damage it was unable to endure.
Everyone stared up in shock as they watched the pink teen dance a little in place before waving at everyone in happiness.
[Izuku]
Izuku flew through the cramped corridors, lightning coating his body as his eyes searched the signs labeled at every intersection until he finally found the right place.
"Main Powerstation." He muttered as he kicked the door down, sending it flying off into the side wall in a crumpled heap. He looked around, seeing the large battery in front of him, a low hum accompanied with the sounds of alarms. Izuku scowled as he was unable to see a shut off switch or computer before he sighed and took a stance, taking aim at the large battery. "Really hope Mom isn't watching this."
He cocked his arm back, his fist and arm glowing with power, tensing up as he prepared to feel the pain if he overwhelmed the Full Gauntlets with this punch.
"TEXAS SMASH!"
[Outside-few moments earlier]
Shinso grunted as he helped Ochaco up, being helped by another teen named Ida. The teen saved him from being knocked out by a One-Pointer while he helped Ochaco, defending the duo while they tried to free her.
"Careful," he muttered quietly as she winced slightly as she put weight on her foot. "I'm surprised it isn't a pancake."
"Hah…" Ochaco gave a tired laugh at this, looking up at the still gathering Pointers before hanging her head. "Oh man… it's too-"
The only warning they got was a loud alarm before the chest of the Zero-Pointer exploded outward, something flying out and slamming into the side of a building, warning alarms going off as it settled in place before dying off.
Ida had immediately covered Ochaco, protecting her from the debris, but Shinso turned back to the Zero-Pointer, seeing the large hole in its chest as it slumped down in place. He couldn't help but give a tired laugh as he saw Izuku stumble into view, looking down at his right arm as the gauntlet thing he wore seemed to break into pieces. He also saw him wincing a bit and held his right arm, but seemed okay for the moment.
"Yagi!" Ochaco called in surprised, seeing the boy standing there as if he had every right to be there. Her eyes widened in alarm as she saw several Three-Pointers take aim and fired at him. He seemed almost dumbfounded by this and jumped out with a quick shake of his head, causing Ochaco to react as she pushed off Ida and grabbed a boulder before launching herself at the boy.
Shinso was unable to react to stop her but he couldn't help but chuckle a bit when she met the falling boy in mid-air and slapped him across the face, startling him and sending in a floating tumble. Then paled when he realized the mistake she made when the Three-Pointers took aim at the floating pair, and it seems Ochaco also realized her mistake as well as she began to panic at this realization.
"TIMES UP!"
The Pointers immediately slumped into place, causing all the teens to sigh in relief. Shinso hurried to the floating pair, watching as Izuku assuaged her worries into releasing her quirk. Ochaco tensed a bit as she pushed against her boulder and Izuku caught her into his arms, and she released her quirk.
Shinso jumped as the boulder cratered the ground near him, but Izuku landed lightly on his feet, bending his legs to absorb the landing with Ochaco in his arms, though he hissed in pain but bared it for a moment longer.
"I'm sorry!" Ochaco quickly got out his arms, flailing a bit before Shinso got a hold of her to steady the teen girl.
"I gotchu." Shinso said, turning to see Izuku hold his right arm close to his chest. Said arm looked like a giant bruise, but Izuku was slowly working his hand through the pain with a tense smile on his face. "You okay there?"
"Yeah. My gauntlets took most of the impact, still needing work but Melissa did a good job on it." He answered, flexing his hand a couple of more times. "No broken bones at least."
"Yet your muscles are probably shredded from the looks of it." All three teenagers jumped at the words, turning to see Recovery Girl behind them, tutting a bit at Izuku, but it was the greenette that gained their attention as she quickly made it to Izuku's side.
"Mom-ump!?" Izuku started but his mouth was filled with gummies she stuffed into his mouth.
"Chew and swallow." She ordered him as she examined his arm and hand. Recovery Girl walked up next to Ochaco and gave her some gummies as well, asking her about her leg before kissing her and healing her ankle.
"Oh wow, you're Recovery Girl!" Ochaco said in realization, smiling happily at the elderly woman. Shinso hummed in thought, looking at the elderly rescue heroine as she turned to him.
"And you? Any injuries deary?"
Shinso shook his head, waving his hand towards Izuku. "Nah. Nothing that requires your quirk that some sleep and rest can't fix up in the long run. Think Yagi here needs it more than me though."
"I suppose so. Here. These gummies will help with natural healing." Recovery Girl nodded her head, handing him some gummies before making her way towards the greenettes, giving a small laugh as the mother fussed over Izuku. "What's the damage, Inko?"
"Severe muscle tearing, bruising, and possibly some minute fractures in the carpals, metacarpals, and the phalanges. Radius and Ulna seem to be okay but we need an x-ray to see." Inko answered as she took a step back, kicking Izuku in the back of the knee to force him down close to Recovery Girl, much to the shock of Ochaco and Shinso. Though Izuku didn't seem that bothered by it, he did wince at seeing her look at him with frustration at how hurt he had gotten.
While Izuku was getting fussed over by his mother, Recovery Girl only smiled and examined his arm as well to gauge the damage he sustain before kissing his arm to start the healing process, Ochaco and Shinso were standing by and watching the scene with amused smiles, Ida on the other could only stare at the teenager he been hounding for a better part of the day.
He remembered what he saw, directing the purple-haired teen to help the others while he went against the Zero-Pointer without backing down from a seemingly impossible enemy. He decided to help out when it was clear the teen, Shinso if he remembered correctly, didn't have a quirk that could help free or defend the pinned brunette.
He frowned as he saw how familiar the two nurses of UA were with him, but shook that thought away as Izuku complained about the Zero-Pointer being overkill for students, with his mother huffing as well and began to complain how the test almost killed her baby, much to said baby's embarrassment.
No, Izuku had no insight into the test. He did what he thought was right, and that was to help everyone from an obvious danger. Was there more to this test?
Ida couldn't help but think about this when he left the test site to get ready to head home.
[Later]
Izuku stepped out of the nurse's office, waving goodbye to his family and began to head out. He reached the entrance to the school and saw Mina standing there waiting for him at the gate along with a few others by her side, the setting sun's light giving his girlfriend a warm glow as she yelled out to him and rushed over and jumped into his waiting arms.
"Hey you." She said quietly as she nuzzled into his neck.
"I'm good." He affirmed to her, hearing the slightly worried tone. "The gauntlets did their job… mostly. Sent the data to Melissa and she is working on the new batch now."
"That's good." She said as she pulled back, giving him a quick peck on the lips before turning to the waiting group behind her, light blushes on some of their faces at seeing the pair showing affection out before them.
"Damn…" the shortest of the group groused a bit as he kicked the ground slightly. "Already off the market."
"I told you dude, she's taken already." The blonde laughed a bit before waving at Izuku as he walked up to them. "Hey man, sorry for hitting on your girl earlier on… oh wait you weren't there… uh… sorry anyways, didn't know she was taken. Name is Denki Kaminari!"
"Minoru Mineta." The short teen waved to him, looking him up and down as if he was assessing Izuku. "Plain-looking, but considering what the others tell me about you taking down the Zero-Pointer, you probably built like a tank."
"Thank you?" Izuku couldn't help but say, a little confused until Mina whispered in his ear.
"He is jealous. Give it a bit, you know how some guys are around me." Mina said quietly before leaning back and smiling widely at him. "He did help me take down a Zero-Pointer, so he has some positive points to him."
"Probably offset by his perversion." Shinso blandly commented from his position from the wall causing Mineta to sputter a bit at this, but was unable to deny it, though he gave a small sigh at Ochaco giggling at this from Shinso's side. "You okay?"
"Uh, Yagi? Are you sure you're alright? Recovery Girl kept you for a while." Ochaco asked as she walked up to him and looked at his arm with a bit of worry.
"I'm fine. Granny wanted to be sure I wasn't going to collapse if I needed more healing." Izuku rubbed his head, not seeing the shocked looks on the other teens' faces.
"Granny?" Mineta asked, looking at Izuku with a dumbfounded expression, the boy looked like boy scout, so hearing him throwing an insult to an elder was quite shocking. "You don't like her that much?"
"What?" Izuku blinked, but Mina laughed as she shook her head.
"No, no! We have known Recovery Girl for a long time. She is a close family friend, we have known her for so long that we began to call her grandma when we were kids. Then to Granny later down the line. We love her like she is a blood relative. Sorry, we forget that people don't know we are really close." Mina explained. Izuku realized everyone thought he was being insulting rather than a term of affection. "Anyway! I'm starving! Let's go eat!"
"I'll pay. Is everyone coming too?" Izuku asked, smiling as he received affirmation from the four. "Then let's go out. There is a diner nearby that Mom loves to eat at."
"She is watching weight right?" Mina asked, seeing a renewed look of confusion on their new friends' faces. "Mama Inko likes to eat. We have to be on top of her eating habits or else she'll get fat."
Izuku sighed as Shinso and Mineta snorted at her bold proclamation, while Ochaco and Kaminari stifled laughter as they followed. But he couldn't help but smile as he led the group onwards, feeling relief at finally taking that first step.
Now…
He and Mina needed to wait for the results.
[End of Chapter]
A/N: Hello everyone.
Eh… Sorry. This took a bit. I was struggling with the action scenes. Put me in a warzone setting and I can write out something that is as close to reality as possible due to my time in the military.
Fighting robots and giant robots is a different thing altogether.
As you can see, there are some changes that is happening. Izuku and Mina are making changes to some of the students.
Mineta is always a sore spot for me, because I always feel he doesn't really bring anything to the table. He is just… there. Being a pervert. I hope to redeem him in some ways. He will still be a pervert, but it will be taken to a backseat kind of deal. Mina will be his inspiration into being a hero, though he is going to be careful not to piss off Izuku
Shinso is another subject that will be touched up. Izuku is going to help him out later.
Makoda will be sort of a supporting character, but only in much more cute scenes rather than anything serious.
For now.
We will touch upon some of these guys test results in the next chapter before moving on to the first day of classes.
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter.
