Hey everyone. Finally got a chapter 2 out. Sorry it took so long to update, but real life got in the way and I actually wanted to at least get this chapter out first before any delays happened. My Beta said it was ok to post this before they were done editing it so I may update it with a smoother chapter but nothing plot wise will change. I'm currently working on chapter 3 and I have hopes it'll be done soon.
Until then hope you enjoy chapter 2.
Chapter 2
"Gibbs?!"
Tim aggressively sat up and looked around his bedroom. Taking longer than he felt too ashamed to admit he realized he was back in his and Delilah's apartment.
"Tim, are you ok," an alert Delilah asked, putting a hand on his arm.
"Yeah, yeah," Tim assured her as he laid back down, "I just had a… had a…"
"Bad dream?"
"No. Not a bad dream. It was, I guess really lucid. It felt really… real."
"A really real dream about Gibbs," Delilah asked, lightly teasing his word choice.
"no, well yes but also no. It was Kelly, the blonde girl. I dreamed of her again."
"Oh? What does your boss have to do with her?"
"Kelly is his daughter. Kelly Gibbs. I'm dating Gibbs's daughter."
"Gibbs has a daughter?"
"Had. His daughter and wife both died before he was in NCIS."
"Oh…"
There was a somber silence for a moment before Tim spoke again.
"Except it can't be her," Tim continued, "His daughter died as a kid."
"Than how do you know it's her?"
"She mentioned her dad. She said that it would be bad for me to oversleep and have Tony and Ziva find us together the next morning and give away our secret."
"Wait, your relationship is a secret?"
"I think so. I didn't get a chance to ask."
"Ok, start from the beginning."
So Tim started recounting his dream as the sun started to slip in through the curtains. From waking up at his desk in his old apartment to seeing Kelly on the sofa, to her leading him to bed and her changing in front of him, to laying in bed snuggling and realizing what he heard about her father and connecting the dots. By the time he was done, Delilah was laying on him with his arm around her shoulder.
"Wow. That is definitely a vivid dream," Delilah said, rubbing Tim's chest, "I wonder what it means."
"Her eyes are blue."
Delilah looked up at him with a wide eye look.
"What shade," she asked.
"Sky blue. Similar to Gibbs but brighter."
"Pretty?"
"Beautiful."
"I love that she has fuzzy socks. You need to find out about your first date. Obviously you met because of her father but I need to know how you started dating."
"I was too surprised to remember to ask but I'll try to next time I see her."
"Next time. For now, we need to get ready for work."

Tim deleted the entire sentence in his report when he realized he typed nonsense again. With a long morning of cold cases and reports, the late afternoon was met with yawns and nodding off. He picked up his coffee for another sip only to find it empty, same as his previous attempt not to long ago.
Figuring boredom and a caffeine crash to be the suspect, he felt himself getting sleepy where he sat and unable to focus.
"He said he did cardio four times a week but it was obvious, before my challenge, he was lying," Nicks voice broke through his haze.
Tim looked up to see him and Ellie putting on their jackets and gathering their things.
"They don't call me Special Agent Nick Torres for nothing after all."
"That's what I get for asking for workout tips," Ellie said to no one as she walked around desk, "Hey McGee, we're gonna grab some lunch. You want anything?"
"No, thanks, Delilah packed me some leftovers," Tim replied, "a cup a coffee would be great though."
"Sure thing."
Once she and Nick disappeared into the elevator, he took a quick look around the bullpen. With Gibbs nowhere to be seen, he figured a quick nap may help his concentration. So with a quick save on his computer and a yawn from his mouth, he placed his arms and head on his desk. He suddenly thought about Kelly wondering if he would dream of her again soon and what he'll learn next. He haven't had a dream with any naps outside his home and he doubted it'll happen with his work nap. Still he thought about his "girlfriend" and felt curious and excited as he let sleep quickly overtake him.
Tim jerked awake sometime later as he felt a hand on his shoulder. Last he remembered he fell asleep at his desk late in the day so he figured Ellie or Nick was waking him up after their lunch excursion. When he sat up though he got a big surprise.
"I figured you would rather sleep in your bed tonight," Ziva said with a kind smile.
"Oh, uh thank you," Tim replied, his mind trying to process who he was looking at.
Looking around, he saw Tony behind her putting on his jacket as the darkness of the evening sky crept in from the windows.
"How long was I asleep," Tim asked.
"Since we got back from lunch," Ziva informed him, "You slept like a stone."
"That's rock. He slept like a rock," Tony corrected as he joined the two younger agents, "Lucky for you Rip Van McWinkle, you got all weekend to sleep. Meanwhile I got a wonderful weekend to look forward to with the most gorgeous redhead."
"A starlet from one of your old films," Ziva replied.
"No, my date is real. Definitely not a secret girlfriend like probie here has."
"I don't have secret girlfriend Tony," Tim answered automatically.
"Deny it all you want, but you can't lie forever," Tony said as he started walking towards the elevator, "They don't call me very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo for nothing."
Ziva rolled her eyes and shook her head as she looked back to Tim.
"Have a good night, McGee," She said "Rest well.
"You too Ziva."
She joined Tony at the elevator and stepped in with him. When the two were gone, Tim looked around the bullpen again wondering what to do next.
"Go home McGee."
Gibbs entered the bullpen and sat as his desk without looking at Tim.
"Get some sleep," he continued.
"Uh, Sure thing boss," Tim replied quickly standing up.
Instinctively grabbing his things, he couldn't help but look at Gibbs who has not looked up from his computer screen. As far as he could tell, there was nothing different about him. While he had his memories of Tony and Ziva to go off of, Gibbs was someone he sees almost daily but nothing was different. Maybe a bit… brighter as best he could describe it but he wouldn't able to explain it.
"Need something McGee," Gibbs asked.
"Uh no, no," McGee stuttered, "It's nothing boss."
"Alright. Go home then."
"Yeah, sure."
McGee continued to gather his things and after making sure he wasn't missing anything he started making his way to the elevator but stopped midway through the bullpen.
"You doing anything this weekend boss," he asked Gibbs.
"Shannon got tickets for some play," Gibbs replied , "other than that, might work on the boat."
"Sounds fun," McGee replied awkwardly, "Have a great night boss."
Gibbs gave him a head nod as he continued to the elevator. Once he was alone he pulled out his phone and opened the GPS app. While he may be able to eventually find his old apartment on his own, he didn't trust himself not to get lost without direction. He thought for a moment before muscle memory had him enter the address. As he studied the direction, the memories started too come back to him and felt familiar. Without realizing it, he now stood in front his Porsche.
As he sat in it though, it felt normal but almost unfamiliar. Looking around, it came to him that the small signs of Delilah were missing. No stray make-up, no disabled placard; Tim was starting to miss her. As he drove, he wondered if they even knew each other. As he thought that, he started getting memories of meeting her, working together and becoming friends but nothing more. When he thought about asking her out and dating and eventually getting married, the memories somehow felt separate from the others. As he arrived to his old neighborhood, he wondered if this dream universe Delilah has ever thought about him as more than a friend.
He then stood in front of his old apartment door and had a feeling of nostalgia hit him. It felt like yesterday he was entering his old apartment. Thinking about it, it was yesterday if his memory was accurate. He unlocked the door and was turning the knob when he heard a noise from inside, like something hitting a sink. He hesitated and got worried that he was about to enter a strangers home. Trusting his instinct, he went inside anyways.
Looking around, everything he remembered from the other night was still there and looked like how it did when he lived alone, except he could hear sound coming from the kitchen. He saw a couple bags of takeout sitting on a counter as an unseen person was using the sink. That feeling of walking into a strangers home returned momentarily.
He tentatively stepped towards the kitchen when the blonde hair figure stepped into view.
"Oh Tim, I didn't hear you come," She said.
In front of Tim stood Kelly, holding two mugs. The first thing he noticed was that her eyes looked red possibly from crying though they also showed excitement looking at him that matched the smile she gave him.
She quickly turned away to put the mugs down on the counter and, Tim suspected, to hide her face. She quickly rubbed her face before turning back to him.
"Sorry I didn't call first," she said, "I kinda didn't plan to come here until a little while ago."
"Are you ok," Tim asked with concern.
"Yeah," Kelly replied quickly before turning away again, "I'm fine. I got us some Chinese if you're hungry."
She grabbed the bag and struggled to open it for a moment before forcefully ripping it open. She clenched her fist and reached for the food before a gentle hand on her arm stopped her.
"Kels," Tim said comfortingly.
Kelly sighed then turned around and placed her forehead onto Tim's chest as he wrapped his arms around her.
"No, I'm not ok," she confessed, "I should've known I can't hide anything from my federal agent boyfriend."
Tim felt his heart do a flutter at the mention of boyfriend from her.
"Well, they don't call me Special Agent Tim McGee for nothing."
A soft snort followed by a chuckle escaped from Kelly.
"That was very cheesy babe," she said as she wrapped her arms around him.
"Yeah, it really was," Tim smiled, giving her a squeeze.
The pair held each other as they rocked side to side. Tim then slowly led the two to the sofa and both sat and laid back cuddling,
"I found a bouquet on my car when I got off work," Kelly said after awhile, "It had a note on it. I thought it was from you and even though you know roses are not my favorite flower, I thought it was very sweet. But then I read the note and it was from Bradley and I got mad. He said he'll forgive me if I forgive him. The asshole even said he'll ignore any cheating I may have done if I go back to him! Can you believe it? The jerk has the audacity to say I'M cheating! After everything he's put me through he…"
Kelly took a deep breath as Tim hugged her tighter. He could feel her start to shake in his arms before was able to calm down.
"The only thing I could think would help is to see you," Kelly continued, "So I grabbed some take out and came here to surprise you. I was hoping to calm down enough before you got home but as you can see I failed."
"You don't have to hold back with me," Tim told her.
"I didn't wanna worry you."
"Kels."
"Also I don't want to keep bringing up my ex. I feel like I already complained to much about him and I feel bad."
"Kels, I don't mind. Its good to let it out and I wanna help you move on and be happy again."
"I am happy. You make me happy. Its just…"
"Kelly."
Kelly looked up at Tim's face and sighed while smiling. She then reached up and kissed his lips which Tim happily returned.
"Why couldn't I have met you sooner," Kelly said, putting her face back on his chest, enjoying the breathing, "I would have avoided so many problems."
"If only. But at least we're together now. We can make up for lost time."
"I agree."
A sudden thought popped in his head, and he remembered he told Delilah he would ask. Not knowing what to say though, he said the first thing that came to mind.
"I been thinking of our first date lately actually."
He felt Kelly tensed up for a moment then relax and cling to him tighter.
"Me too," she replied, "I know you said I don't need to say it but I am sorry we haven't had the most normal relationship."
"I know, I know." Kelly said loudly before she assumed McGee would reply. In reality, McGee was confused and didn't know what to say again, "but still, thank you so much Tim for being so patient with me and taking it slow. I am so grateful for you and the past few months have been amazing. I know I said we would have that quote, OFFICIAL, unquote first date eventually but…"
She lifted her head again and looked at Tim's face again.
"I think I'm ready," she told him.
"Really? Are you sure?" Tim asked, excitement hitting him before he knew it.
"I'm positive. I been thinking about this for awhile now. Definitely before tonight."
"Um ok. When would you like to do it?"
"How 'bout this Sunday? I know your team has the weekend off and my parents will be out on their own date. You can pick me up and everything,"
"Ok sure. This Sunday."
Kelly gave him a big smile then reached up and kissed him excitedly followed by more kisses that turned into making out. The two then ate the cold take out before heading to bed and sleeping into each others arms, thoughts about their upcoming date.
Holding onto a fast asleep Kelly, Tim thought about how he was going to tell Delilah. Maybe she could help him come up with date ideas? He looked down at Kelly's face and his thoughts turned to her. Memories of what she told him about her past relationship before him. He didn't remember everything but he knew it ended ugly. As he closed his eyes and let sleep overtake him, he vowed to make this date extra special for her.
