Hello, shorter chapter this time. I meant for it to be longer but I felt it was at good spot to cut it off.
I'm not sure what's causing the chapters to upload in all bold but hopefully I fixed it.
Please let me know what you think of the chapter and hopefully I'll see you all really soon.
Chapter 4
Time flew by quickly for Tim and before he knew it, the night of the date arrived.Feeling more nervous than he normally would be with a first date, he found himself quickly relaxing as the date went on. Starting with dinner at a nice seafood restaurant they both love, followed by enjoying the shops and attractions at the nearby pier. The entire night was filled with comfortable conversation and laughs.
Now they were walking along the beach, Kelly holding a Harley Quinn plush doll in her arms that Tim won for her in a claw machine, talking about random topics, ranging from her father and the team, to who they prefer seeing Harley Quinn date.
Kelly wore a simple dark blue knee-length dress with black ankle strapped heels being held in her hand as she and Tim walked barefoot in the cool sand. Somewhere in the distance, coming from the pier, Tim could just make out a familiar song, but his focus was on his young date next to him. Overall, Tim had a great time and was confident he was able to give Kelly a fun date.
"I get it. I mean I don't want to say that I relate completely with her, she is a villain after all," Kelly went on, "but I can understand wanting to be loved and why she used to be so willing to take him back."
"At least she's with someone now who truly loves her," Tim replied.
"Yeah but…" Kelly was suddenly quiet and her eyes looked down at the moonlit sand.
"Kelly," Tim said, stopping their walk and turning to her.
"Why did I ever meet him in the first place," Kelly finally replied, not looking up from the ground, "why didn't I see how garbage he was sooner. It would have saved me so much drama."
Tim didn't know how to respond. He was at a loss of words as his hands laid awkwardly at his sides.
"I mean, I could imagine how this Harley conversation would go with him," she continued, holding out the plushy, "He would be a huge Joker/Harley Quinn shipper, not caring about how toxic the dynamic is and if you mention how she's dating Poison Ivy now, he'd be like 'hot, that would be a killer threesome!' because being bisexual means you automatically love threesomes."
"I'm glad I never told him about how curious I was in high school," Kelly said, her voice getting louder and her eyes getting watery, "he would have pushed harder for that threesome. Not like he ever cared about my input before sleeping with other women. Apparently it's my fault that I somehow wasn't involved when he fucked them. Just like he thinks it's my fault he-"
Kelly fell quiet again and hugged the plush doll tightly, letting out a soft sob.
Thinking quickly, Tim did the first thing that came to mind and hoped it was the right decision. He reached and wrapped his arm around Kelly, pulling her to him. Kelly responded by digging her face into his chest and letting her tears wet his shirt. He placed the occasional kiss on her head and held her as she held back sobs. For some reason he noticed her dark roots peeking in from her blonde hair but just as quickly, he dismissed the thought as he placed another kiss on her head.
After what felt like a long time, Kelly pulled away, wiping her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she said, "I need to stop bringing up my ex."
"No, no it's fine," Tim replied quickly. "It was traumatic for you and you should be able to let it out."
"I know, and I'm grateful that you're always so patient and receptive but it's not exactly a normal topic of conversation to bring up on a date."
"I don't think we have to worry about either of us being normal about our dates."
"Yeah, but still. I'm sorry for ruining the mood. It was such a perfect date."
"You didn't ruin anything Kel, it still a perfect date to me."
"Thank you for saying that. But I still want to make it up to you."
Tim's brows furrowed in thought before an idea popped into his head.
"I think I know you can," he said cryptically as he reached into his pocket.
Kelly raised an eyebrow at him as he pulled out his phone and fiddled with it. Tim then placed his shoes he was holding on the sand and his phone on top of them. He pushed play, stood up and held out his hand to Kelly as Son of Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield started to play.
Kelly let out a chuckle as her eyes lit up and a smile quickly formed. She placed her shoes and Harley next to his shoes, then quickly jumped to him, wrapping her arms around his neck as his hands went to her waist.
The couple looked at each other smiling as they swayed to the music. Neither wanting to say a word.
The moon lit up Kelly's face perfectly, allowing Tim to drink in her smile and a wave of feelings hit him all at once. He somehow knew that it was the face he always loved seeing for months now. It was the one here remembered he was always happy to see. Even if it only came as a feeling or distant memory of a dream, he knew it was the one he fell in love with.
"I love you so much Tim," Kelly said, as if she read his mind.
"I love you too Kelly," Tim replied, unable to hold back a grin.
Kelly pushed up on her toes, pulled Tim down to her, and planted her lips onto his. Tim reciprocated with the same passion. The two lovers continued to kiss and savor the other as the song slowly faded away and the next song started to play.
Later that night, Tim pulled into the curb of Gibbs's house to drop Kelly off. He was thankful he was dropping her off here and not her apartment since he didn't know how to get to said apartment. He was curious about why she was staying with her parents but fortunately for him, it was quickly explained when Kelly mentioned her water being off for only a couple more days for plumbing repairs.
Upon arriving, Tim was about to step out to walk her to the door when she stopped him.
"Don't want to risk my dad seeing you," she explained.
"Oh, right," Tim replied, not knowing what to do next.
"Tonight was amazing Tim. Thank you so much for waiting."
"Of course. I'm glad I was able to make you happy."
"You always make me happy."
Kelly leaned forward and the pair kissed again.
She then grabbed the plushy and stepped out. Tim, being the gentleman he was taught to be, watched and waited for her to reach the door, hearing her lightly hum the whole way.
"The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man."
Tim smiled hearing her sing. When she reached the door, Kelly looked back and gave him one more grin before opening the door and disappearing inside.
For the rest of the night, Tim felt a warmth of happiness inside him that made it hard for him to stop smiling. The feeling continued even after he opened his eyes in the middle of the night and saw his wife asleep next to him in their bed.
Looking at her face, he worried for a moment that he would feel guilty pang hit him for feeling such happiness. Except the feeling never came and instead he looked at her and felt the similar sense of love as he did when he looked at Kelly on the beach.
Taking care not to wake her, Tim brushed aside the hair on her face and placed a kiss on her forehead. He then laid back. Closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
