Rachel asked: "Which way"?

Lucy replied: "Over here" and she gestures towards the right.

The girls ran as fast as they could, and a small pebble hit Rachel's shoulder. Lucy had to dodge a bigger rock and the light was so bright they were squinting. They could both definitely smell the lavender and finally they got out of the cave. They hurried down the path to the side of the road really close to Lucy's car.

Lucy said: "I'll give you a ride."

Rachel said out of breath: "I hope this is your car. "

"Yes, it is" Lucy replied, "Where are you parked, Rachel?"

Rachel replied: "I'm on the other side of the raccoon tracks."

Lucy said: "That was really freaky."

"Yes, it was!", Rachel agreed, "I've never been so scared in my life." The second that they got to the car they exchanged phone numbers, email, Facebook, and agreed to keep in touch.

Lucy smiled as she watched Rachel get into her car and drive away. She thought to herself, I'm in love. When she got home, she googled where and when the McKinley High School New Directions sectionals were going to be. She new it was there that she would see Rachel again. The thought of seeing her again put another smile on her face.

The next Saturday was the Dalton and McKinley Sectionals. Lucy had gotten up way too early for a teenager on a Saturday morning. She spent forever on her makeup, washed her face and used makeup remover, and then reapplied her makeup three times before she was satisfied. She put on her new dress; it was so pretty. The dress was light blue with pink roses on it. Usually her dresses went all the way down to the floor but this one went just below her knees. For the first time in a long time she was pleased with how she looked. Then she went to pick up her friend Becca and then they went and picked up Mazie.

Becca and Mazie were surprised at how nice Lucy looked, especially Becca. She was wearing jeans, a hoodie, no makeup, and her hair was in a sloppy ponytail. Mazie had put a little more effort into her appearance. She had on a little more make up than usual, a slightly dressy button-down top, and was also wearing jeans and sneakers.

Becca asked: "Why are you so dressed up; we are just going to watch sectionals. Mazie and I are both in jeans and we are the ones who have boyfriends on the Dalton team."

Lucy replied: "I met someone on the McKinley team and I'm kind of hoping to see them again."

Lucy's friends thought carefully for a moment about what they wanted to say. They didn't want to pressure her into telling them anything that she wasn't ready to yet. They found that hard because they wanted to know everything about their friend and especially her crush. Mazie didn't say anything and Becca asked, "Does this somebody have a name?"

Lucy said: "Yes this somebody has a name; everybody has a name."

Mazie said gently: "If you're not ready to tell us who somebody is, that is okay. As long as who you like is not an ax murderer or something, I will be accepting of whoever it is. Whoever is lucky enough to be liked by you is a good thing and it doesn't matter who it is. If there is ever anything else you ever need to tell me, I am there for you and no matter what I always want to be your friend."

Becca said: "I may not be able to put things as nicely as did Mazie did, and we don't always agree exactly, but as far as what she just said that is exactly how I feel."

Lucy said: "Thank you. Let's just see if there's anything to tell first."

The judges announced that Dalton and McKinley tied and were both going to regionals. Mazie and Becca went to go congratulate their boyfriends and congratulate them on what a great job they did. Lucy went to go to talk to Rachel.

Lucy smiled and said: "Good to see you again."

"You too." said Rachel.

Lucy then said: "I can't believe you didn't get the solo. I only heard you sing once, but you were better than Sunny or Sunshine or whatever her name was. I also thought that the blonde boy with the big lips and the girl with the dark hair were both talented, but they had no chemistry. I wish you would have gotten the solo then there is no way you would have tied. You would have won."

"Thank you, you're so right" said Rachel

Lucy said: "So I'm supposed to drive my friends home now, but could we meet up later?"

Rachel said: "Yes, I would like that." They both looked around nervously and then looked at each other; they kissed.

They look at each other again for a minute then Rachel said: "I don't normally kiss before the first date; I hope that's okay."

Lucy said: "Well I normally wouldn't either and I haven't really had a lot of first dates. I kind of needed to know that that is where this is going."

Rachel said: "I got to go, but I'll see you later tonight."

Lucy said: "See you later."

Lucy met back up with her friends she squealed: "I have a date tonight and we have already kissed!'

Mazie and Becca both squealed excitedly and giggled. As soon as they were in the car and settled, and before Lucy could even drive off, they inquired: "Who is your date with?"

Lucy said: "Her name is Rachel Berry."

Mazie said: "I'm happy for you!"

Becca said: "I am too." Then they drove off.
