Chapter 69: Maddie and Marcy
So, in a couple of days, Marcy says we'll be ready to head for the second temple. She's calculated it's somewhere in the far north, so we're gonna have to dress warm or we'll have a bunch of frogsicles on our hands.
Anyway, until then, we're all taking it easy and doing our own thing. And for Marcy, that's been studying magic with Maddie. Apparently she ran into her one night while exploring the forest and they really hit it off due to their shared interest in the occult.
I'm not gonna lie… it's kinda weird to see Mary warm up so quickly to someone new. Back home, I can't really recall her ever hanging out with anyone besides Sasha and me… IRL anyway. She was on all sorts of online groups related to all the stuff she was into… STEM stuff, RPGs, long fantasy epics that really could have used an editor… but she never seemed to be able to find anyone local who vibed with her. Eeven the school clubs she was in were pretty much just her. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see her find a real friend outside the group. We all deserve someone who, y'know, just, gets us, like me with Sprig. And don't get me wrong, I love Marcy like a sister but there are some things she's really into that I just don't get.
Well, anyway, with Marcy hanging out with Maddie and Polly with Frobo, Sprig and I are just gonna take an "us" day and continue our rewatch of Suspicion Island. We're almost up to that weird episode where none of the regular cast appear and it's just a flashback to the bad guy as a teenager and his abusive relationship with his dad, and his best friend betraying him (definitely can relate to that last part). It' actually one of the best episodes of the series, and really shines a light on the villain's motivations.
Gonna be nice to just have a chill day where nothing crazy happens.
Never mind, something crazy happened!
So, it seems like Maddie's little sisters got into her spellbook and turned themselves into giants and it was a whole big thing and you know what? Everything resolved itself without me having to do anything so it's fine that I don't know what happened. I gotta let go sometimes.
Back to the binge-watch!
A.N.: Welp, I knew this would probably be the shortest chapter going in, but I didn't think it'd be this short!
Matt: Thanks, I figured I'd slip it n somewhere.
Jose: We know Andrias wanted frogs "kept in their place" after Lief's betrayal, and this way the toads are too focused to think of challenging Newt supremacy. It's an old story.
Gloyd: Luz would vibe with those three for sure.
Next: The Second Temple
