Author's Notes: Hi there, everyone! Man, university's starting to kick me in the behind now that we are practically near the end of the semester. I just hope that I pull through with decent grades. However, I'm not here to bore you with details of my life; I'm here to deliver the next chapter of "The Seaweed Monster"! Again, my apologies for the slow updates, but I have to deal with assignments, chores around home, work, and of course the occasional writer's block that a break and some sleep can cure. I'm already working on the third chapter for this story and got a good portion of it completed so far. And because I have a feeling that this story may be one of the shortest, I think the fourth chapter may be the last one for "The Seaweed Monster". Once that hurdle's jumped, I can start getting through "The Energy Beast" and "The Colossus of Atlantis", the latter one being one of the episodes that I am itching to write. But…let's get through this, first.

Another thing I might want to point out is that you may, or may have already noticed, is that the first fight between Godzilla and the Seaweed Monster is, and will be, playing out a bit differently than in the original material. For one thing, Godzilla has showed up earlier than usual, which is part of my take on the series that has Godzilla being less of the "summoned hero" and little bit more like Zilla Jr. who shows when his family is in dire peril. In my fanfic-verse, if there's one thing that's taken seriously, it's family; and in Godzilla's case, it's not just through blood relation, it's also in found family through adopting Zooky and becoming friends with Vicky and the Calico crew. You can like this or you can hate it, but I am sticking with it.

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of the 1978-79 Hanna-Barbera series Godzilla: The Original Animated Series, Hanna-Barbera does, or should I say Warner Bros. does. This incarnation of Godzilla is owned by H-B and Toho. The only character I own is Vicky, my self-insert. I also do not own the story that is based on the fifth episode of this cartoon series. Also, anything in bold when a kaiju character is speaking/thinking means that they are speaking/thinking in their native language.

Recap: A routine trip to the Sargasso Sea takes quite a scary turn when a creature made of seaweed shows up and attacks Quinn, Brock, and Vicky. Luckily, Godzilla is nearby to help and Godzooky also lends a hand. Everyone manages to get out of their first encounter with the strange creature with no injury, but the Seaweed Monster isn't through with the crew yet. There's only one thing standing in its way, though: Godzilla! And as the two duke it out, they start coming closer and closer to the surface…

CHAPTER 2

As Quinn and Brock were changing out of their diving gear, Vicky relayed to Captain Majors what had gone on down there, including the fact that Godzilla had been nearby and was the one who had first spotted the Seaweed Monster.

"Well, you've always said that Godzilla was never too far away. I guess that pretty much confirms it," Captain Majors said once Vicky was finished. "And if that's the case, he's probably already tangling with what you all saw down there as we speak."

"I think you're right, sir," Vicky agreed as the ship began to rock.

"What's going on?" Quinn asked as she and Brock entered the wheelhouse, trying to keep their balance.

"I think we got ourselves a kaiju brawl going on right under us," Vicky answered.

"Get to the sonar, Brock; I want to find out where they are," Captain Majors ordered.

The African-American made his way to the sonar screen and activated the machine. Vicky proceeded to activate the same function on her watch via a holographic screen that projected from her watch, a menu button called "Sonar" being the third option underneath "Storage" and "Radar".

"Here they are," Brock announced as the sonar let out blips, the screen showing their position as one, big, moving dot. "They're so close together, I can't tell who's who."

"Here, use mine," Vicky offered, showing her sonar screen. It was the same as the Calico's sonar screen, but instead of having one big dot, there were two different-colored dots on top of each other. "The bright-blue one is Godzilla, and the red one must be the Seaweed Monster," the preteen explained. "They must be combating in pretty close quarters."

Once again, the crew of the Calico couldn't help but be amazed at the tech Vicky possessed and couldn't help but wonder how such a thing was created and who made it, but this was neither the time nor the place.

"If I'm looking at this right, that seaweed creature's bigger than the Calico," Brock observed.

"And they're both heading right for us," Quinn added in worry. "Which means we could be seeing them surface any minute now."

As if on cue, there was a loud splash and the crew saw Godzilla's tail come out of the water before splashing down again.

"Hold on, everyone!" Captain Majors called out as he tried to keep the Calico steady.

"Easier said than done!" Vicky shouted as she was forcibly rocked back and forth; being pulled to the other side of the room one minute and almost crashing into the controls the next.

Outside, some of the Seaweed Monster's body surfaced before going back under, only to be replaced with Godzilla's dorsal plates. Godzilla's head came out of the water at one point, and it was shown that he was biting down on the creature, determined not to let go. Sometimes water and bits of seaweed went flying as Godzilla tried to rip it apart.

Finally, both monsters surfaced, with the Seaweed Monster wrapping Godzilla in its arms and trying to cut off his air.

"Aunt Quinn!" Pete gasped, holding onto his aunt as the sight of the seaweed creature had startled him.

"What in Neptune's name?!" Captain Majors exclaimed.

"That's it, Captain Majors; the Seaweed Creature!" Brock identified.

"If Godzilla doesn't get out of that hold fast, he's gonna suffocate!" Vicky worried. "C'mon, Goji! Get outta there!" she called.

This was quite fix that Godzilla was in; not only was the thing's arms wrapped around his body, but it was also covering his eyes and wrapped around his muzzle like the noseband of a horse's bridle. The worst part was he could feel one of its hand-like tendrils circling his neck and its grip was getting tighter. He had to do something before his throat was crushed or he passed out, whichever would come first. But he couldn't use his lasers or his flame breath, unless… Well, it wasn't like he had a choice, anyway. Godzilla managed to move his hands to the "hand" around his throat and pried the "fingers" off just enough for him to take in enough air and concentrate on redirecting his fire. He knew he that this was going to be a slightly stronger blast, so he had to be extremely careful; one wrong move and he could damage himself on the inside.

A couple deep breaths to get ready, his flame was prepped, a deep inhale through the nose, a silent prayer to whatever higher power there was out there that this crazy idea would work, and…FIRE!

Two strong jets of fire from Godzilla's nostrils hit the Seaweed Monster right in the face, making it loose a gurgling scream. In the noise, Godzilla pulled himself loose, not letting up on the fire until he was clear.

"All right, Godzilla!" Brock cheered.

"Nice goin'!" Vicky added.

"Ah…"

"Uh…" Vicky trailed, sounding a bit worried at that sound from Godzilla.

"What's that? Is Godzilla OK?" Pete asked.

"Ahh…" Godzilla said again, looking like he was hesitating.

Of course, his back was to the ship, and thank goodness for him that he was, otherwise the crew would have been able to see the rather alarmed look on his face that accompanied the one of someone about to loose a sneeze. Godzilla still had some of his flame breath prepped to let out through his mouth once he was out of the Seaweed Monster's grip, but he completely forgot about the effect that letting his fire out through his nose did to him. And Godzilla had a sinking feeling that this was not going to be pretty.

"Ahh-ahh…"

"What's he doing?" Brock asked.

"I think he's gonna—" Vicky began, but was interrupted by an extremely loud and fiery:

"AH-CHOO-OO!"

Three jets of fire shot out from Godzilla's nostrils and mouth, hitting the Seaweed Monster square on, making it scream again as it was set ablaze.

"…Do that," Vicky finished, rather shocked by what just happened.

"Wow-wee! What a blast!" Pete exclaimed.

Everyone else had pretty much the same thought, with Godzooky being greatly concerned for his uncle. Zooky had seen him let his fire out through his nose before, and it always ended up with Godzilla sneezing blood. In the past, Godzilla had assured his nephew that it was just a matter of using it more often until he could get used to it and he wouldn't sneeze like that after each use, but that had yet to happen.

The Seaweed Creature diving back underwater to put itself out gave Godzilla enough of a breather to assess the damage, wipe the blood from his nose (which was coming out at more alarming rate than last time), and let his healing factor get to work. His larynx was intact, but his throat was definitely sore and the inside of his nose felt itchy. His eyes had also watered a bit from the heat, but also mostly because that had hurt. He had never let out his fire like that before, and he was not keen on doing it again.

In another stroke of luck, he had noticed that the Seaweed Monster had dove underwater; going after it would clean his face and cool the burning a little. Not to mention let him get on with the fight.

"Has he ever let out a flame attack that strong before?" Vicky asked the Calico crew members.

"Not to my knowledge," Dr. Darien admitted. "And I certainly don't remember him sneezing one out."

"Me neither," Brock added. "Somehow I don't think he wanted to do that."

"Uncle Goji always sneezes when he breathes fire from his nose," Zooky revealed, having gotten in on the conversation.

"Has he ever let out fire through his nose before?" Vicky asked.

"Not very often, I don't think," Dr. Darien answered, trying to think back.

"Maybe that's why that happened," Captain Majors guessed.

"That, and maybe he was gearing up for another blast when the sneeze hit," Vicky said.

"Is he gonna be OK?" Pete asked.

"He'll heal fast, so I wouldn't worry too much," Vicky said reassuringly, despite being concerned herself.

SPLASH!

"Here we go again!" Vicky called out as the ship began to rock once more.

"We'd better back off," Captain Majors said, heading for the wheel.

Outside, Zooky was trying to remain balanced so that he wouldn't make the rocking any worse. He considered maybe going airborne as the water was too dangerous right now, but before he could, he heard a splash from over the side. He went to the railing, thinking something might have fallen overboard, but instead saw multiple arms of seaweed coming up out of the water.

The youngling kaiju let out a yelp as he quickly backed off to avoid being caught, only to find that there were more coming up behind him.

"Godzooky?" Vicky called, having heard the young, winged saurian's panicked cries. "What's wro—YIKES!" she yelped in turn, having stepped outside the wheelhouse to see the ship surrounded by living seaweed. "Captain Majors!"

"We're surrounded!" Brock finished for her.

Before Captain Majors could increase the speed, some of the seaweed that was going over everyone's heads grabbed the masts and antennas while some of the others further down began pressing against the side of the vessel, making it lean.

"Oh no!" Vicky cried out. "The Seaweed Monster is trying to get to us while Godzilla's distracted with the fight!"

"It's going to overturn us!" Quinn exclaimed as she tried to keep her balance.

"Help! Help! Go away! Help!"

"Zooky's in trouble! I've gotta help him!" Pete said, managing to get out of the wheelhouse as the seaweed continued to try to get the Calico on its side.

"Not without me, you're not!" Vicky added, following the boy outside.

"Pete, Vicky, come back!" Quinn called, but it was too late.

"This is one of those times where I wish that I had shoes that can stick to walls or something!" Vicky commented out loud as she and Pete tried to make their way to Godzooky, which wasn't easy since the deck was now slanted.

"I know what you mean!" Pete admitted.

"Help!"

"Zooky!" Vicky called out.

The youngling kaiju was trying to keep back from the living fronds while also trying not to slide off, but it was difficult to keep his footing and the tendrils kept inching closer.

This is one of those times where I wish that I could breathe fire like Uncle Goji does, Godzooky thought to himself. It would sure make keeping this thing away from me a lot easier!

"We're coming, Zooky!" Pete called.

Just out the corner of his eye, Zooky spotted the two human children coming toward him…and the still-reaching seaweed!

"No! It'll get you! Get away!" he called.

"Don't be crazy! You need help!" Vicky called back. She pressed the button on the side of the face at the 9 to activate her energy fists just in time to swat a seaweed tendril away.

"We need to get Godzilla's attention! He doesn't know what's going on!" Pete told his kaiju friend. "Hurry!"

Godzooky got ready to call his uncle, but noticed too late that a tendril got by and it soon had him by the throat, making him panic.

"Hey! Let go of him you overgrown salad!" Pete yelled angrily, actually racing to a part of the tendril that was within reach and proceeded to punch and kick it; not that the impromptu attack would affect the monster at any rate.

"PETE!" Godzooky gasped; more, much smaller tendrils were starting to sprout and grab the human boy.

Zooky might not have had the ability to breathe fire yet, but he still had pretty decent muscle strength, and despite the fear trying to swallow him up, Zooky focused on his promise to protect Pete like a mantra and managed to pry the tendril off his throat just enough to let out one long, loud call.

To the luck of the three children, another break in the fight between Godzilla and the Seaweed Monster had occurred, so the Kaiju Prince heard the SOS and turned his head to see the Calico almost engulfed by seaweed and leaning dangerously. He cursed himself for not seeing the creature's tactic sooner and began trying to brainstorm an idea on how to get the Calico loose.

Back on the ship, Vicky had gone from using her energy fists to her laser to cut the boys loose. Once that was done, Zooky had put Pete behind him and began to bite and swipe his claws at any tendrils of seaweed that dared get too close.

"Get outta here! Go on! Shoo!" Vicky shouted as she alternated between using her laser to cut the tendrils and her energy fists to toss the pieces over the side.

"Stay away from Pete! Get outta here!" Godzooky growled between bites that often caught nothing but air.

"Man, this thing's like a hydra!" Vicky said, starting to breathe heavily from the exertion. "Cut one and more take it—EE-YA-AA-AA-AAH!" she cried out suddenly as the deck moved again and she went sliding, this time, towards the stern.

"WHOA-A-A-A-AH!" Pete and Zooky shouted as they too began to slide, the former having to quickly grab the latter's tail.

Thinking fast, Zooky managed to grab Vicky with one hand and hang on to the edge of the platform where the minicopter was currently tied down with the other.

"What's going on?!" Pete asked as he continued to hold on for dear life.

"I don't know, but now we've gone from going sideways to leaning up!" Vicky said. "What are they doing?!" she then asked, referring to Godzilla and the Seaweed Creature.

To answer her question, Godzilla was trying his tactic of biting and shaking the creature in hope that the pain might make it let go. Unfortunately, it appeared that for being a lump of overgrown kelp, it learned fast, and despite the pain, it wasn't so willing to let go of its victim this time. Godzilla even started lifting it up, hence why the Calico now had its bow clear out of the water.

Godzooky let out another call to let Godzilla know what was going on. Once again, the adult saurian noticed and berated himself again for his mistake, releasing the Seaweed Creature and making the Calico splash back down in the process, its passengers letting out shouts of surprise. Godzilla winced at how hard the white vessel came back down and tried to think of another way to get it untangled from the seaweed. He tried stomping on the beast, but it jerked the Calico forward, so that didn't work. Finally, he decided to use his lasers, which was honestly what he should have done in the first place. The tendrils holding the Calico were cut off from the main body and Vicky and Zooky wasted no time in getting the limp pieces off the ship.

"That should do it!" Vicky exclaimed as she tossed the last piece overboard. "Nice job, Zooky."

The young, winged saurian took a breath to recover from the exertion and the leftover adrenaline before responding with a "thanks".

A familiar, dark shadow fell over the Calico just then and everyone looked up to see Godzilla. At first glance, nobody looked seriously injured, which was a relief. He then said an apology in kaiju-tongue before picking up the small-to-him research vessel and putting it down a few feet away from the battle site.

A splash sounded off from behind; time to get back to it.

"You can do it, Uncle Goji!" Godzooky cheered from the deck of the Calico. "I know you can!"

"That goes for me too, Godzilla!" Pete added.

"Go get 'im!" Vicky called in encouragement.

Godzilla gave the children an affirmative nod before turning back around to face his foe.

"We'd better get below; it'll be a lot safer," Vicky suggested, heading for the door that led to the hold.

The boys followed her, but Godzooky stayed topside a minute longer to watch his uncle fight the Seaweed Monster. Both of them were currently at a distance from each other, which was no problem for Godzilla as he let out his flame attack from his mouth. The creature dodged it.

"C'mon! Go get it!" Zooky cheered excitedly, puffing out smoke.

"Zooky, come on!" Vicky called from below, getting the youngling's attention.

Meanwhile, Godzilla once again began to pick up the Seaweed Monster, this time with his hands. It was a little heavy from being wet, but other than that, it didn't weigh too much. Arms of seaweed flailed all over the place, the creature not liking being picked up like this. It tried pulling at Godzilla's arms, even hitting his face, but the saurian still hung on. Finally, the living seaweed realized that it was going to have to be sneaky again and let its two lowest arms that were underwater and out of Godzilla's sight range grow until they managed to grab his left ankle.

Godzilla felt the seaweed grip his ankle, but he was not expecting to get his foot yanked out from under him, so he ended up dropping the creature as he fell backwards, his surprised roar almost sounding like a "WHOA!"

The resulting splash was so large that it almost washed over the main deck of the Calico and the ship began to rock once more.

In the wheelhouse, the three grownups had to quickly grab whatever stable object was nearby to keep from being tossed about.

"Hold on!" Captain Majors called.

"Watch out!" Quinn exclaimed.

Below, the kids had a bit less luck in not being knocked about, but Godzooky managed to keep the two human children from getting seriously hurt.

"EE-YI-I-EE!" Vicky screamed as her feet went out from under her; Godzooky caught her before she could hit the floor.

"What happened?" Pete called.

"From what I heard earlier, I think Goji lost his balance," Vicky accurately guessed. "That glop of kelp must've tripped him up or something."

"Dirty cheater," Zooky muttered, referring to the Seaweed Monster.

"Yeah; for a living salad, it sure is crafty," Vicky conceded.

"I wonder what's going on now," Pete said.

"I'm not hearing any splashing, and the ship seems to be steadying, so I think the battle's gone underwater again; a little deeper this time, though," Vicky speculated. "The only way we'll know is if we go topside."

"Let's go, then," Zooky suggested, letting the humans pass by before following.

Vicky had been correct; the battle between the two monsters had gone underwater once again, the Seaweed Monster trying to wrap itself around Godzilla once more, but the heir to the kaiju throne kept moving about, not daring to bite this time lest his head get caught again.

The two spun for about a minute or so before Godzilla decided to give the Seaweed Monster a taste of his laser beam eyes, which cut through the creature.

At that point, with much of its body falling apart from that attack, the Seaweed Creature decided it was time to retreat and sped off. Godzilla pursued it for a few feet before it disappeared into the distance, some of the cut-off seaweed trailing after it as well as some other uprooted strands.

Man, for being made of seaweed, that thing moves fast, Godzilla thought as he halted his pursuit.

He felt that he should keep going after it, keep up the attack so that it couldn't cause any future damage, but he had to consider the Calico; after all, the ship and its crew had been in quite a tight spot that he (unintentionally) almost made worse through trying to disentangle the ship from the creature. Besides, it was dishonorable to kick an opponent when he was down; something one his of teachers-King Caesar-had told him. With that in mind—while also noting to keep an eye on the seaweed when he came back down—Godzilla headed for the surface.

With the rocking subsided, Captain Majors, Quinn, and Brock had come out of the wheelhouse and were now looking over the railing for any sign of either Godzilla or the Seaweed Monster.

"What's happenin'?" Pete asked as he, Vicky, and Godzooky came up from below.

"We don't know, Pete," Quinn responded as the children came to the railing.

"It sure is quiet down there," Brock trailed.

Brock's statement made Vicky and Zooky nervous until they saw a spot on the ocean just a few feet from the Calico start to bubble and froth, which was followed by Godzilla surfacing so that his head and shoulders were visible.

Godzilla's response in kaiju-tongue to the wondering looks from his friends made wide smiles spread on Vicky's and Godzooky's faces.

"The Seaweed Monster retreated," Vicky translated for the crew.

"Godzilla's won!" Captain Majors cheered.

"Way to go, Uncle Goji!" Zooky beamed.

"Nice going!" Vicky complimented.

"Thanks," Godzilla responded. "I'm just sorry you guys got yanked around so much."

"What'd he say?" Majors asked Vicky.

"He's apologizing for us getting knocked around while trying to get us loose," the preteen girl translated.

"We're OK, Godzilla; don't worry about it," Majors told the saurian.

The saurian nodded in acknowledgment before starting to turn to leave. While doing so, he muttered something that was supposed to be under his breath, but being that his voice was loud even when he was trying to be quiet at his size, everyone heard, but only two were able to understand it. And judging from their failure to keep in their laughter, the comment Godzilla had made was an amusing one.

"What's so funny?" Pete asked Vicky and Godzooky.

"Um…" the trying-really-hard-not-to-giggle Vicky started, glancing between Godzilla and the crew as if asking if she could translate. Once she was certain it was OK, and trying to keep as calm as possible, she said, "To get to the point, he said, 'From now on, I'm gonna shoot my salad before I eat it!'"

That got everyone laughing that time; even Godzilla couldn't help but snicker at his own translated comment. As the laughter died down a bit, the crew bid their goodbye-for-now's to Godzilla as he submerged once again.

"Man, who'd have thought Godzilla had a sense of humor?" Brock chuckled.

"I seriously have no idea where he gets it from," Vicky giggled as she shook her head. "And it's not any influence of mine, I assure you."

"I suppose you've got stories," Quinn grinned.

"Oh, yes!" Vicky laughed, some examples coming to mind.

"Well, anyway, do you think that's the last of the Seaweed Creature?" Pete asked, shifting the topic.

"I sure hope so, Pete," Quinn answered her nephew. "But we'd better remain on our toes just to be safe," she added, nodding to Vicky, who nodded back in approval.

"In that case, we'd better get the Calico further out to sea, Brock," Captain Majors suggested.

"Aye-aye, Captain Majors," Brock affirmed, both him and the captain heading for the wheelhouse.

"Are you three all right?" Quinn asked the kids after a pause.

"I won't lie; it was close at a couple parts and we got bumped around a bit, but we're OK," Vicky told the female scientist.

"Well, at least you're all safe. But I don't want you rushing out like that again, even though you do have a gadget that can protect you," Quinn said to the human kids, with her addressing Vicky with those last few words.

"But I couldn't let that thing get at Zooky; he could have gotten hurt. And he almost was," Pete pointed out, the image of that strand of seaweed wrapped around Zooky's neck still fresh in his mind.

"I have to admit, that was my thought, too, but when you jumped out first I had to think about covering you, too," Vicky told the boy. "Thankfully Zooky was able to help out in that department."

The youngling saurian bent over just then to gently nuzzle the two children, saying that was glad that they were safe but that their coming into the fray like that had scared him.

"I'm sorry," Pete said contritely.

"Yeah, me too, buddy," Vicky added as she caressed the young, winged saurian. "I guess it's just…"

"Just what?" Zooky asked.

Vicky tried to find a good sentence, but found herself at a mental roadblock, mainly because she was afraid of hurting her friend's feelings. Zooky had been able to handle himself well for having no flame breath, but he still had a long way to go in terms of his abilities despite what happened in San Francisco having affected his mental development. But how do you say something to that effect without coming off as condescending and without having him think that she was treating him like he was still a hatchling?

"Nothin'," Vicky finally said. "I was about to run my mouth off again. Don't mind me."

Zooky could only guess what she was about to say earlier, and most of the guesses he made made him feel a bit nervous. Doubtful, even. But the only way to be sure was to ask her. Later.

"Anyway, it's going to be a bit before lunch, so why don't you three occupy yourselves until then?" Quinn suggested.

"Can I make it this time, Aunt Quinn? I'll be careful, like you told me," Pete offered.

"Are you sure you'll be all right?" the boy's aunt asked, feeling like she wanted to supervise him to make sure he'd be careful, but at the same time reminding herself that Pete was 12 now and had been learning to take some responsibilities on the Calico, whether it be watching Godzooky, helping Brock carry some equipment, or even helping his aunt with an experiment, so making lunch for the crew himself might as well be another learning curve for him.

"Sure I'm sure," Pete replied confidently. He then began to list off the do's and don't's of using the Calico galley that had been drilled into him until his aunt stopped him with a chuckle.

"OK, OK," she giggled. "You can make the lunch this time."

"Thanks, Aunt Quinn!" the boy beamed, hugging his aunt. "Come on, Zuke," he then said to his kaiju friend, "we'll play some 'Roll-the-Ball' for a bit until I have to make lunch, OK?"

"Sure," Zooky smiled.

The two then went below to the ball, leaving Vicky with Dr. Darien.

"'Roll-the-Ball'?" Vicky asked with a smile.

"It's been a favorite game of theirs for a while now," Quinn answered.

"Hope they've got room for one more," Vicky said, about to turn around.

"WAIT!"

"What?!" Vicky yelped, startled by the sudden yell.

"Don't move your foot," Quinn instructed, getting on one knee to get something near the blonde-haired girl's left sneaker, which had its heel up.

"What is it?" Vicky asked as she tried to look without losing her balance.

"It's a piece of seaweed."

Vicky grew alarmed; maybe she had missed a piece during the fight.

"It's small, but it's not alive," Quinn assured the girl as she picked it up and held it so that Vicky could see.

Quinn was correct about the piece, but somehow that didn't quell the anxiety brewing in the back of Vicky's mind.

"What are you going to do with it?" Vicky asked, adding in thought, Throw it away, I hope.

"I'm going to have a look at this under the microscope," Quinn answered. "Hopefully it'll give me some clues as to how that Seaweed Monster came about."

Not what Vicky had in mind, but she knew Quinn had raised a good point in trying to figure out the creature's origins from the piece she had found; if they knew where it had come from, maybe they could have an actual plan ready if it showed up again.

"Sounds like a good idea," Vicky said. "Just be careful with it."

"I will," Quinn promised. "In the meantime, I think you've got a game to join," she added, noticing Pete and Godzooky coming back up on deck, a red ball in the crook of Pete's right arm.

Vicky turned to see the boys and went off to join them while Quinn took the seaweed to the lab to start her investigation.

As everyone went about their business, however, they had no idea that Godzilla was conducting his own investigation underwater. Or that more and more seaweed was being pulled from its roots to a currently unspecified location by a powerful force.

…Or that they had put themselves in terrible danger.

And…done! This took quite a bit of time to finish, let me tell you. And with finals coming up around the corner, it might be a bit longer getting the remaining chapters up. Honestly, I'm just hoping I can get multiple stories out before my interests shift again and I become ensconced in that particular new/old interest.

I hope you all enjoyed this take on Godzilla's first fight with the Seaweed Monster. I know it's done very differently in the original material, but in a written medium, you've got the advantage of being able to take the time you need to plan or choreograph a scene the way you want it, whereas in the film medium you have only a certain amount of time to do a story in. Also factoring in here are events that have occurred in previous stories that are affecting characters in this one; Godzooky being the most noticeable. And I guess a third thing being factored in here is basically common sense. If you recall in the original material, Zooky had Pete with him and the two were flying about the battle zone instead of being where it's safe. I know in the original material Zooky's just eager to help out or something like that, but whoever put that in as part of the story surely had to have realized that that was some pretty poor judgment right there. Hopefully, what I've done here has made the battle and the events occurring throughout it a bit more realistic.

I believe I may have mentioned Godzilla having to think on the fly when fighting enemies, and I have to say this was certainly a battle of "trial-and-error" tactics. And even though Godzilla had not wanted to sneeze out a flame attack, he certainly did a good job of keeping on target.

And yes, I did borrow the "Shoot my salad before I eat it" line from Dinobot in the series "Beast Wars". Well, think about it; both had just finished dealing with some sort of plant life, so what would you think they would say?

One more thing to add is that "Roll-the-Ball", a game that Pete and Zooky have been playing together for a long time now, is going to come up again in a future episode as a bonding tool, so keep your eyes peeled.

And now, here are the questions:

What would your reaction to seeing the battle between Godzilla and the Seaweed Monster be? How about when Godzilla sneezes out that rather powerful flame attack?

What would you do when the Seaweed Monster tries to overturn the Calico and Godzooky is surrounded by the tendrils of seaweed?

What are your thoughts on Godzilla's battle tactics against the Seaweed Monster?

Where do you think Goji got his sense of humor from?

Next time, we have the lull before the final encounter, and Vicky is going to be learning quite a lot of new things about Godzooky.

Until then, please read and review. Thank you!
