Foka
Night 20
The six Foka return to camp and lean their torches on the official Torch Tree. Torches aren't hurled at the tree, but there's still tension in the air after what happened last night…specifically between a Waddle dee and a gruff assassin.
"It was a good move…but you didn't have to act like that." The waddle dee calls out, but it's on deaf ears. "You tried to pull a quick one on us, I'm going to have this." Well, more like good ears that ignore what he said.
"But laughing at her is just…low. She lost and you just rubbed it in."
"Boo-hoo, she took a shot and missed." No sympathy from Kano, and the Bandana's just gives him the arm. "I..I can't reason with you." That remark makes him throw his hands up. "What is this just personal? You know what's personal? Taking food off my table because I'm annoying. Your mom tried, and look what happened." Kano snaps back.
"She's NOT my mom!"
"Sure looked like she was! You were there at her beck and call."
"Out of LOYALT—" He's cut off by Li Mei, who steps in front of him. "The last thing any of us want is hostility. Let's cool down for now." While she stands between the two, the bald Mii leans down on the waddle dee's level. "Come with me." The waddle dee glares at Kano as he leaves.
"That's right, keep treating him like a baby."
"You stay." Mei says, turning to him. "I love a woman that tells me what to do." That gets a look of disgust from her, but she's able to keep that internal. "First of all, that's creepy. Secondly…are you aware you're damaging your reputation?"
"It's been damaged love."
"You aren't helping yourself. How are you ever going to win if you treat others this way?" she asks, and Kano, yet again, brushes it off. "I've already won in life being the way I am."
"In your realm there's a way, here you need to show some respect." She leaves it at that and goes to start the fire.
Kano: It's fun to push that Small Fry's buttons…
…
Kano: What? There's no entertainment out here. I can't even swing a bat like I used to.
What. A. D*ck.
Elsewhere, the waddle dee and Mii sit on a log, and Matt's back in "Coach Mode." What advice did he have to offer?
"Don't lose it over HIM. He's not a champion, he's just a bully. And you know what bullies are? Weak. He's trying to get into your head because he has no edge over you." Matt, showing no mercy in this pep talk. "You have better relationships, and that's all you need to win. Count how many relationships he has."
The waddle dee looks at his arms. "Exactly, you can't."
Dee cracks at that joke. He had no fingers at all, which still confuses some Kirby fans. How did he carry things? Press the object really hard?
Anyways, the Mii's not done. "I've been where you are before. Someone gives you sh*t because of something you can't control. Keep your head on straight. Let him lose his." Matt must have a degree in motivational speaking.
The waddle Dee's eyes light up. "Thank you. I was just blindsided…and Kano.."
"I feel that. But remember what I just told you. He's not sh*t."
Matt offers his fist, and Dee uses his arm for the bump.
Bandana Dee: I didn't know what to expect after the swap, but the fact that there's still good people…it warms my heart. Matt and Mei didn't have to stand up for me, but they did.
A tear rolls down his eye.
Bandana Dee: S-sorry I'm just really emotional right now…
Challenge Area
Day 21
Jeff is standing by himself, with NO obstacle course, no bags, not even a puzzle. All that's next to Jeff, is a box with a color poking out.
"Come on in!"
The five Tatu enter, and realize that there's no obstacles to be found whatsoever. This could only mean ONE thing.
"Welcome back Tatu. Before we begin, get a look at the new Foka tribe.."
The six Foka enter in a straight line, and an important Fatu member is clearly missing. Luigi gasps, as Dee gives him a knowing glance. He had some explaining to do.
Luigi: That waddler's probably going through it. He needs support PRONTO, because he did the same for me when I broke a promise.
The eleven castaways stand side by side, as Jeff takes over once again. "For the past three weeks, you've been through two gears of this game. Today, we kick it into third gear…"
Here we go..
"Drop your buffs, we're merged!" Jeff exclaims, tossing eleven buffs, LIGHT BLUE.
Some cheer on this announcement. They have a reason to be excited! There's more people to meet, more options, a guaranteed jury spot, and a better chance of winning the million. Others weren't so optimistic.
Kano's laughing in confession.
Kano: We go from three threats to eight. This is one bad joke! ..F*ck me.
Despite what Kano thinks, others don't take this as a joke.
Li Mei: I am sticking to my under-the-radar plan. It's best to let ten people eat each other before I put myself on the frontlines.
Blu: Woohoo! No more team challenges, no more starving! This is the best day of my life!
She pauses.
Blu: Kano's still here but that doesn't matter, he can't kill my happiness!
Grudges would reignite, alliances would be made, but there's also reunions.
Sonic: After what went down with Monty, my greatest reward is Matt. He'll know what to do because let's face it, he always does.
Ask Kabal how that turned out.
Even though they're excited, Jeff's not finished yet.
"Don't get too comfortable..because TOMORROW you'll get exactly what you need to move forward: A MERGE FEAST!"
The cheering grows, and oh boy the past two casts must be jealous! They didn't have the privilege of getting a merge feast, they were just left with their own resources. Matter a fact, the rewards weren't stellar either. This cast got the Yacht trip, Maldives and Samoa barely left the island. Nonetheless, good times for the eleven mergers.
"You have all that to look forward to." They sure do! "BUT, before you go back to camp..one more thing. I'm glad you all brought your belongings, because you won't be going back to your camps. The Roku and Toka camps were already used, so it's time to switch up the location: you all will be heading to the Fatu camp." Good to know production keeps the camps together when they're not used. "Head back to camp, enjoy the feast."
With that dismissal, the eleven castaways hike back to that Fatu camp together. Like a society, they'd have to build the shelter, and make the best of what materials they have. The same goes for relationships between the players, and concern grows with one of them.
Kabal: There's usually a way out of any situation. Finding a way out when eight people are against you sucks, but there still a way. Whether these people will want to keep me around or not, is the key.
Merged Tribe (Fatu Camp)
Day 21
Little Mac, Sonic, Gordon, Luigi, Blu, Matt, Li Mei, Bandana Dee, Kano, Kabal, and Tremor
At camp, everyone's having small conversations with each other. There's no strategy here, which is a relief for some castaways, but they'll have to deal with that talk when the time comes to do something.
Matt and Sonic reunite.
"If you're ducking me in boxing, try bowling." Sonic says, nudging his shoulder. Matt puts a hand on his. "I'm not ducking you, I'm doing you a favor."
"Matt cocky? I've never seen it before."
"How many strikes did you get?"
"..three."
"I bowled a perfect game."
Their talks overheard by Luigi, who enters the convo. "I was the best bowler on Tatu. I won't duck you." The two Roku leaders turn to him. "If you say so…" Matt says, very confident in his bowling abilities. Then again, he has a reason to be. On Wuhu Island, he's the final boss. Skilled in every sport.
While they talk about games, Blu's talking to Gordon.
"On Yoshi's Island, we're like…a fruity nation. Berries..melons…bananas.." the Yoshi starts to drool, but the chef prefers other food. "Is fruit all you have?"
"It's the easiest to find! We go out, pick it, and bring it back. It's how so many of us live for a really long time!" Blu, promoting health. "Do you cook fruit at your places?"
"It's a variety. Tell you what, if I can stop by, I'll change the game over there forever. Wellingtons, Risottos, all new." The chef responds. That'd be interesting to watch a Yoshi fry…if they can even consume it. If they could, there'd be a Hell's Kitchen on Yoshi's Island. Imagine that.
Sports talk, food talk, what's next?
Well after his convo with Matt, Sonic heads over to Kabal. Both are the quickest on their tribes, so what was to come of this?
"If it isn't the second quickest on the island!" The hedgehog says, and Kabal has a counter. "You may be the quickest in your realm, but not here."
"Is that a challenge?"
"If you want a race we can make it happen."
New Event unlocked.
"Well Kabal, be careful what you wish for. I'm undefeated in racing."
"Until now."
Kabal: It's clear to me that Sonic's so bored out of his mind he wants a challenge. Matt did say he's about that life, but you probably weren't shown the footage. But if the hedgehog wants a challenge, he's going to get his wish.
The race hasn't started yet, and wouldn't for a few days. Everyone has some business to attend to. What happened while they separated? What do they need to know next?
The O.G Roku are the first to meet, and the Mii starts it off strong. "We gotta put any hard feelings to rest now, cause we got a common enemy: The Black Dragon." Matt says, and it doesn't take long for people to make their opinions heard.
"Blu told me about them! Kano's the WORST. Did you hear that he kicks people while they're down? That's not cool." Sonic says, and the Mii has another story. "There was this girl named Toriel, and she was respectful the whole way through. The moment she left, Kano started running his mouth to Dee. Had to comfort him after that."
"He did the SAME thing to Red! Blu wouldn't let it go, and I can't blame her. If someone kicked my friend while they're down, we would never see eye to eye." The hedgehog says, and the boxer of the group doesn't get that behavior. "Is he TRYING to win a jury? I get there's jerks in the world, but this is a game where you CAN'T BE A JERK." Mac says, criticizing his game.
"He's burning any capital he has…but there are more threats on his side. If we leave one Black Dragon member left, they won't do much damage." Li Mei notes, and there's a tiny objection with the strategy. "They could still be a bitter betty about it, but if we can make them comfortable then it shouldn't be a problem!" Sonic responds.
"Sonic, Mac. Is Blu still with us?" Matt asks, and the hedgehog nods. "Thanks to a little seed I planted, she's not siding with the Fatu."
"..what did you do?"
"Well… I turned her against Gordon. I didn't have a choice, she seems so loyal to us because we saved her! Gordon just seemed like a threat we could get rid of anyway, I like the guy, and I'll work with him again, but it was the heat of the moment." The Hedgehog explains.
"If he thinks it's best for business, then let's mix these groups."
Before any cross-tribe mingling even starts though, they have to ask Blu for her opinion. It's safe to say that after Matt and Sonic visited her, nothing's really changed.
"If you want the Black Dragon out, you don't even have to ask. I've been in since day twelve." The Yoshi's still ready to make them pay. Good for the Roku agenda. "Yeah I don't know if we can save them all. When you have a rep for being toxic, we can't just save you with a snap of the finger. Doesn't matter how chill Kabal or Tremor are, they're guilty by association." Matt explains.
"Toxic? Oh what did he do THIS time?"
"Gloat at another boot." If looks could kill, the Yoshi would be homicidal. "..He did it AGAIN?"
"Couldn't help himself."
Matt: The merge is the best thing to happen to us. We couldn't split the votes last night, but this time we have a good shot to send a Dragon packing. We can't do it alone, which is why we need all the power we can get.
Elsewhere, The three Fatu have a lot to talk about after their separation.
"You go first." The waddle dee says, the chef obliging. "We we're in a bad spot, but it took an idol and a boxer to bail us out. Mac was generous enough to name us a target, and we made the save."
Luigi chimes in. "I know we're pretending to side with tribes, but Mac's not with them. He's with us! The coolest Roku ever!" That just gives Dee more questions. "Why are the other Roku bad? Matt and Mei were really nice to us."
"Sonic tried to blindside us early. He's not a bully, he seems like he's against it, but doesn't change the fact he's been after me." The chef explains. "If the Roku want a deal with us, I need to know where HIS head's at."
"Ok. I hope you can patch things up because I have something to tell you…"
"What's that young dee?"
"It's something that happened on my camp.
That gets their interests. "What happened?" Luigi asks, and the waddle dee reveals all that happened. "We tried to get rid of Kano, but Matt tried to fake him out and it didn't work. Kabal used that idol on himself, and it ended up hurting Toriel! I know Matt wanted the best for us, but it just hurt instead…"
"Was Matt conspiring?" Luigi asks, needing to know more.
"He was genuine. He even wanted to do a alliance between them and us! It seemed cool but Tribal happened. Toriel didn't deserve to be treated like that. I didn't deserve to be talked to that." Dee spills, and Luigi's starting to glare. "WHO-A DID THIS TO YOU?"
"Kano kept saying I was hiding behind her, and I was so hurt by that. What's wrong with being loyal? What's wrong with making friends?" Dee asks, and the chef gives his piece. "There's nothing wrong with it, he's just a villainous player."
"Yeah…but he threw salt in the wound too. I called him out for acting like that and he didn't regret a thing. He just..CONFUSES me so much." The waddle Dee vents, still a little angry about how that night went down. Lucky for him, he gets more reassurance.
"Kano sounds like a fat w*nk. If you want him gone first, we're with you." The chef says. "We have no time for him!" Luigi adds, and it's obvious that the Fatu Three were on the same page.
"We aren't alone. Matt and Mei still want to mix tribes you know!"
"So do we."
Gordon: I've got trust issues with a hedgehog, but that doesn't mean much when someone sniped your closest ally out of the game. Toriel was good for Fatu, and now you've went and p*ssed us off. From the sounds of it, they've gotten away for far too long, and it's time for sweet revenge.
Alright, so the merge has officially begun! And the early actions of the Black Dragon are coming back to get them, as the Roku and Fatu tribes may come to a consensus, especially after Dee, Matt, Sonic, and Blu reported Kano's bad behavior.
Next part has more developments, and comes out soon, Ticket out.
