Sam couldn't have been more on edge. Every turn she made she was walking on eggshells. At one point she had even sent a boy flying as she felt him touch her shoulder.
She only realized that he'd ended lying on the ground cause he was new and wanted yo know where the bathroom was. It wasn't his fault she was on edge and had taken taikwando since she was a kid, mostly for the distaste her mother had toward the sport as it was 'unladylike'.
She quickly apologized but otherwise she moved on, waiting and watching. Amethyst eyes constantly searching for someone of his gang to jump out and yell "gotcha" but nothing. Nothing? Nothing at all.
For years she had wanted this. The silence or ease that came with being ignored, at least not constantly bullied or harassed by low lives whose favorite game was pin the tail on somebody lower in their so called food chain.
Just thinking of Danny and his underlings had Sam rolling her eyes.
God, she thought, they were all so irritating. Nothing they ever did wasn't selfish and petty.
Paulina was a shallow pool of pretty and that's all you could compliment her on. She used her wit, which Sam knew she had because the girl was manipulative, to control anyone she wanted and it left her spoils and a snob. The girl had always reminded Sam of her mother.
Dash was utterly just a pig neadrathal completely duped by Paulina's beauty and he's been fallowing her around since the first day of school. His position on the football team bought him Friends and an unrefundable God complex. He would've been top dog to a lot of people if it wasn't for his 'king'.
Kuawn and Star honestly didn't bother Sam as much as the other two did, because they were just too stupid to actually be that mean. They did what they were told and that was about it.
And tucker? Danny's best friend was probably the worst of their great leaders lackeys. That meat head had been trying to forcibly Change Sam's ultra vegetarian diet since he'd met her. One time the two even created a rally between both vegetarians and meat-a-holics. Yeah, that didn't end well with the whole ghost attack that followed.
And don't get her started on Danny. Daniel Fenton, the self pronounced "King of Casper High" was eveything his lackeys were and more. He stood tall, with a lean well built frame his shoulders where broad and blue eyes were always crystal clear. That's what was just so irritating about the boy, he was attractive. But his attitude and foul temperament left the girl with a bad taste in her mouth with just thinking about him.
She sighed heavily as she walked up to sit down at her last class of the day. All Sam wanted to do now was go home and relax. Maybe irritate her mom a bit or decompress into her study on paranormal things.
She hated to admit it, but she was a big fan of the ghost that was a hero to the town. Danny Phantom, don't remind her of the irony of the first name, was a hero that had saved not only Amity park, but the entire world from multiple ghost attacks.
He had randomly appeared one day 4 years ago and he'd been a hero to the girl ever since. And while she would usually be upfront about her love for ghosts, as many goths would be into death and the underworld, Phantom had a number 1 fan that had solely "claimed him". And Sam, was not in any way going to be a crazed fan like Paulina. Even though, in many aspects one could call her that.
That day 4 years ago, the first day 9th grade, Sam had gotten into truoble with a ghost names the Lunchlady. Sam had only been trying to improve the students unhealthy food options by changing the lunch menu to a more suitable item. However, much to many students agreement, Lunchlady had a problem with changing the menu and it had caused an outraged.
Sam had been at a loss for words at seeing a ghost for the first time, and she stood dumbstruck, forgetting everything she had been taught as a martial artist. It wasn't until Phantom had scooped her off her feet and placed her away from the falling debris that she regained her composure.
When she focused on the ghost that had saved her, her head began to spin. Not because he was a ghost, not because she almost died, but because it felt like she could finally breathe.
His green emerald eyes enraptured hers and a weight lifted from her shoulders. A feeling of ease and understanding, friendship and warmth, laughter and life, all these emotions erupted from her heart and filled her veins.
The moment had only lasted for a second though before Phantom had to fly off; returning to the ghost that he had left behind to fight.
Sam had been distracted for days after that encounter, wondering what could possibly happen to make her feel like that. Was it the ghost's unearthly glow or chill that followed him everywhere he went? Was it the ectoplasm in his veins?
She searched and searched for answers, uncovering facts about ghosts that she had never known about. Finding out that they had things called obsessions that were the reasons they stayed as ghosts. They made a ghost stronger, more powerful, and would leave the ghost crazy or weak without it.
She also discovered that the feeling she had felt was exclusive to Phantom. Whenever she would try and get close to a ghost, many times resulting in near death experiences, nothing like that feeling of relief or tension breaking ever occurred with them. So she realized, it was either something only Phantom could create, a power of some sort, or it was her AND Phantom that had sparked such strong emotions. That SHE was the only person to have ever felt that way with him.
The latter had made her heart flutter and no matter how hard she tried to extinguish the thought, it persisted. Even now, thinking about the ghost made her slightly giddy.
If she really thought about it though, the feelings she had been focusing on for years had almost reminded her of the feelings that filtered into her heart when Danny Fenton had smiled goofily at her.
Oh no, she immediately turned down the idea. No way would she ever compare the ghost hero with him. Fenton was nothing but a bully with a God complex who hated being told "no".
Phantom was a man who saved people from the goodness of his heart. Someone who didn't let his popularity get to him, someone who'd matured and grew more humble with each interview.
No way would she ever put Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom in the same sentence.
