Eddie shook her head and moved the crib around. She knew she wasn't supposed to, but nothing seemed right in the nursery. She'd been rearranging things in there all day. She'd been so busy moving things here and there in the room, she hadn't noticed Jamie had come through the front door. She was moving the crib again when he entered the room. She bristled when she heard his voice.

"Eddie. What are you doing?"

Eddie turned and gripped the crib for a moment. Then moved over to the dresser opening up the top drawer. She reorganized the onesies and moved the socks. Stopping, she looked at Jamie, who took a step closer to her.

"I'm sorry. I know I'm not supposed to be moving heavy stuff around. But everything in here seemed wrong. I needed to make it right. Nothing is where I want it."

Jamie nodded and then looked around.

"Where's Ellie?"

Eddie pointed to the other side of the room.

"Sleeping in the playpen. I rolled it in here so I could keep an eye on her."

Jamie watched her for a minute and saw her sway a little.

"Here. Let's sit down in the rocking chair. What have you eaten today?"

Jamie helped Eddie into the rocking chair and knelt down in front of her.

"Jamie stop fussing over me. I'm fine. A couple of turkey sandwiches and a can of honey roasted peanuts."

Sighing, Jamie shook his head and cupped her left cheek with one of his hands.

"Eddie you need to eat something besides just protein. We have some left over broccoli in the fridge."

Eddie pouted a little and shook her head no.

"I ate it. I also ate the peanut butter, and the carrots. I went looking for some sour cream and onion chips, but then remembered we didn't have any. We didn't have any apples so I settled for apple chips. Not the same as a real apple."

Jamie pulled the sliding foot stool and propped Eddie's feet up on it.
"Please tell me you didn't eat all that in one sitting. Did you?"

Eddie shifted uncomfortably in the rocking chair and shook her head no.

"No. I've been snaking all day. Do we have any spicy cheetos?"

Jamie raised and eyebrow.

"Spicy cheetos? You know if you eat those your going to get heartburn…"

Eddie crossed her arms over her chest and stuck her chin out.

"Spicy cheetos sounds good. I've been craving them for an hour."

Jamie shook his head.
"If I go and get you a bag of spicy cheetos will you chase it down with one of my green smoothies?"

Eddie nodded and leaned back into the rocking chair.

"Yes of course. Get me more than one bag of spicy cheetos babe. When you come back, my feet and legs are killing me. Can you give me a massage?"

Jamie nodded and kissed Eddie's forehead. She leaned back in the chair and listened to Jamie's voice before he left.

"Back in a flash babe. You rest."

It took Jamie less than 15 minutes to find what he was looking for and he was in and out of the store. It was only a couple of blocks from their apartment. He got back to the apartment and started putting the chips away. He got a few other things he knew she'd be wanting. After all the groceries were put away he washed his hands and took a peek into the nursery, only to see Ellie playing with her toy piano and laughing. Eddie was fast asleep in the rocking chair. Her face was completely relaxed. Walking over to the playpen, Jamie reached in and picked Ellie up. He wrinkled his nose.

"Oh baby girl. You need a diaper change. You are stinky."

Carrying her over to the changing table he carefully took off her onesie and started to undo her diaper. Jamie held his breath and looked away for a minute.

"Whew. What did your mama feed you today?"

Ellie giggled and played with a teething ring in her hand. Jamie quickly cleaned her up and put her onesie with the baby giraffes back on. Picking her up, he watched as he little arms flailed excitedly.

"Dada!"

Jamie giggled softly and then rubbed her back.

"Shh. Baby girl. Mommy's sleeping. We don't want to wake her up."

Managing to look down at his watch and balancing Ellie in his left arm he shook his head.

"Ok baby girl. It's time for your medicine."

Walking out into the kitchen, Jamie walked towards the fridge and opened it. Inside the door on the shelf was Ellie's heart medicine. Shaking the bottle and grabbing for and eyedropper, Jamie opened it and squeezed some into the dropper. He made a face at Ellie so she would open her mouth.

"Ellie look at daddy. Ahh."

Ellie opened her mouth and drank the medicine. Smiling, Jamie praised her.

"Good job baby girl. I know they say this stuff is grape flavor but does it taste good?"

Ellie licked her lips and gave a toothy grin. Jamie remembered the first few times he'd given her the medicine and she'd spit it out. Putting the cap back on the medicine, Jamie placed it back inside the fridge and shut the door. Going back into the nursery, he found Eddie was still sleeping. He'd given Ellie a cracker and she was munching on it. She held her cracker up for Jamie to take.

"That's for you baby girl. Daddy already ate."

Ellie stuck a piece of the cracker in her mouth and kept munching on it. When she was finished, Jamie wiped her hands and set her on the floor. She sat playing with her tiny toy piano and gave Jamie a toothy grin. Taking another chair from the corner of the room, he placed it in front of Eddie and sat down in it. His breath caught in his throat when he saw how red and swollen her legs and feet were.

"Oh Eddie."

Jamie carefully and gently started to massage Eddie's right foot and she slowly opened up her eyes.
"Jamie? Your back. Did you get my chips?"

Nodding, Jamie gave a soft laugh and kept massaging her foot.

"Yes. There in the cupboard in the kitchen. Eddie. Look at your legs… You haven't been staying off your feet have you?"

Sighing, Eddie shook her head.

"There's just too much to do in here. But I realize now that I can't possibly do it all by myself."

Jamie frowned and kept massaging her feet.

"Everyone in the family is all willing to help out. Just ask. I know your tired of sitting still. But you really need to take breaks now and again. More often than not. I'm going on leave in three weeks. We have almost everything organized. We've already got your go bag ready."

Eddie shook her head at Jamie.

"I'm not incompetent Jamie. I can take care of myself and Ellie while your at work. I'll call you if something is wrong."

Jamie gave her a sympathetic look.

"I know your not Eddie. I never said that. I just… I'm worried about you. You spent all day today on your feet. You pushed yourself past your limit."

Eddie seemed to crumble under Jamie's words.
"I know. I'm sorry. Who's coming to help me tomorrow?"

Sighing, Jamie smiled.

"Linda in the morning, and in the afternoon Danny. You ok with that?"

Eddie nodded and moaned. Her legs and feet were really bothering her.

"I really did overdo it today didn't I?"

Jamie nodded continued to massage Eddie's foot. She groaned some more.

"Ouch. Too hard babe…"

Jamie stopped and ran gentle hands over her foot.
"I'm sorry baby. You ok?"

Eddie nodded and shifted.

"Yeah. Can you get the massage oil?"

Jamie nodded and went out of the nursery and went into the bathroom in their bedroom. Grabbing the oil from the cabinet and closing it, Jamie made his way back to the nursery.

"Here we go baby. Is that better?"

Eddie let out a breath and nodded.

"Much babe. Thank-you. I don't know if I can deal with this for three more weeks. I'm so uncomfortable. I can barely move. You can barely help me up anymore."

Another sigh escaped Jamie's mouth and he gave a tight-lipped smile.

"We're almost to the end of the road babe. Just three more weeks. We're almost there. I'm here for you. You know that. If I could take all the pain you were in away, I would."

Eddie nodded and relaxed.

"Keep massaging my feet and my calves. Oh my god. Maybe I'll lay in bed all day tomorrow. I'm so tired…"

Jamie wished he could take everything she was going through right now away. Three more weeks to go Reagan.
