Evie's POV

I wake up and walk over to the washroom seeing my siblings both standing by the door.

"Morning," I greet.

"Morning Evie," Jeremy replies.

"You're up early. Where are you going?" Elena asks Jer after giving me a nod of greeting.

"Police station. They're organizing the search party for Vicki, so..." He replies.

"Wait. Shouldn't you be going to school?" Elena asks confused.

"I think it's good that he goes. He definitely won't be able to focus, with Vicki still being missing." I add in.

"He shouldn't skip school. If they find her, we'll know. That's what cellphones are for." Elena says to us.

"Yeah, your lips keep movin'. I don't know why." Jer replies getting ready to walk away.

"Good luck," I say to him giving him a kiss on the cheek. He leaves the house.

"Why are you encouraging this?" Elena asks me distressed. "You know she was turned into a vampire."

"I do, but working against him, he will be less likely to tell us what is going on. Besides supporting little brother is our job. Maybe telling him wouldn't be a bad thing." I suggest.

"No, you won't tell him." She argues.

"Why not?" I ask.

"Because I said so." She replies walking away.

I get ready for school and go drop Blaise off at The Salvatore boarding house.

"Morning Damon," I greet when he opens the door.

"Now, isn't this an amazing sight to see." He greets me. He gives me a light kiss and takes a still sleepy Blaise from my arms. "School today?" He asks.

"Yeah, thanks for looking after him. Please keep him safe." I plead.

"I will always protect you and our son. Anything I should make sure of today?" He asks.

"Yeah, he's a little sleepy today. Try to have him playing before he goes down for a nap. Some tummy time would be also a huge help." I list off.

"Don't worry I will make sure it all gets done. You focus on high school today." He says.

"Thanks again, Damon." I thank again.

"It gives Blaise and I some bonding time." He says. I turn to go get back into my car and hear him clear his throat loudly. I turn back. "Are you forgetting something?" He asks teasingly. I roll my eyes running back to them. I kiss Blaise's forehead and give Damon a quick kiss on the lips. I get back in my car and drive to school.

Damon's POV

I bring Blaise to the living room so I can read the paper and he can play with his toys a bit. I put him on a play mat for him to mess around with.

"I don't understand why I have to stay cooped up here. Why can't I just go home?" Vicki whines.

"Because you're changing, Vicki, and it's not something you wanna do alone." Stefan replies. I'm scanning the newspaper for anything about Logan.

"There's nothin' about that Logan guy I killed in here. Not a word. Someone's covering it up." I tell them when I find nothing.

"Why do you have the brat?" Vicki asks. I speed over to her and press her into the wall lifting her up by her neck.

"You mean my son, Blaise. Why wouldn't I look after him? He needs his dad to show him how to not date sluts like you." I threaten her. She attempts to swallow then tries to nod her head in fear. I let her go speeding back to my spot on the couch watching Blaise play.

He doesn't seem to have noticed what just happened. He seems to be happy playing with these vibrating stuffed toys that I got him. They vibrate when you pull on them. He seems to enjoy trying to pull them. He keeps squealing and kicking his feet out with a smile on his face. I smile just watching him. I pull out the Gilbert device and study it.

"What is that?" Vicki asks.

"This is a very special, very old compass." I reply while turning to Stefan. "What was Logan Fell doing with it? Aren't you curious?"

"Well, if you're so worried that somebody's onto you, why don't you just leave town, Damon?" Stefan asks trying to get me to leave town leaving my son and his mom behind.

"We should all be worried." I tell him.

"Hey, um, I'm hungry. Do you have anything to eat?" Vicki asks,

"Here." Stefan says handing her a cup of blood. I get down on the ground to play with Blaise.

"What is it?" Vicki asks.

"It's what you're craving." Stefan replies not telling her the whole truth. We can't have that now can we?

"Heh. Don't lie to the girl. It's so not what you're craving, but it'll do in a pinch, right, Stef?" I bug him, while tickling Blaise's tummy.

"What is it?" Vicki asks confused.

"Yeah, what is it? Is it a skunk? Saint Bernard? Bambi?" I ask continuing to bug him.

"Go on. Give it a try." Stefan encourages her.

"She's new. She needs people blood. She can't sustain on that stuff." I say continuing to follow on my promise of making his life miserable.

"Yeah, why can't I have people blood?" Vicki asks.

"Yeah." I say pretending to agree with her.

"Because it's wrong to pray on innocent people, Vicki." Stefan saying trying to take the morally high ground.

"You don't have to kill to feed. Just find someone really tasty and then erase their memory after wards. It's so easy." I tell him, hoping she will kick up a bigger fuss.

"No, no, no. There's no guarantee that you can control yourself, okay? It takes years to learn that. You could easily kill somebody, and then you have to carry that with you for the rest of your life, which, if I haven't made clear, is eternity." Stefan says melodramatically. I roll my eyes.

"Don't listen to him. He walks on a moral plane way out of our eye line. I say snatch, eat, erase." I tell her.

"Hey, look at me. We choose our own path. Our values and our actions, they define who we are." Stefan tries to convince her. Probably time for me to take Blaise on a walk.

"Okay, count deepak. I am outta here." I say. I pick Blaise up from his play mat and hand him a toy to chew on. I start putting together his diaper bag so we can go on a walk.

"Can I have some more?" I hear Vicki ask as they both head upstairs. I finish getting the bag packed.

"Extra diapers? Check. Spare outfit? Check. Leather Jacket for both of us? Check. Bottle of mom's yummy milk? Check." I say out loud as I put his jacket on him and put mine on. His stroller is outside all set up already. The door bell rings. I pick up Blaise's diaper bag and him and go answer it.

"Is Stefan here?" Elena asks

"Yep!" I reply popping the "P"

"Where is he?" Elena asks still not greeting Blaise or I.

"And good morning to you, little miss 'I'm on a mission'." I reply to her sarcastically.

"How can you be so arrogant and glib after everything that you've done?" She asks rudely with an attitude.

"And how can you be so brave and stupid to call a vampire arrogant and glib?" I glare at her in a threatening way.

"If you wanted me dead, I'd be dead." Elena says with a fake confidence.

"Yes, you would." I say agreeing with her.

"But I'm not." She says starting to get a little cocky.

"Yet." I reply, trying to get her off of her high horse.

"Where is Stefan?" Elena asks getting back to the reason she is here.

"He's upstairs singing 'The rain in Spain.' Knock yourself out." I tell her leaving out the door. She closes the door behind me. I strap Blaise into his stroller. He starts to fuss.

"Hey Buddy, I'm right here." I say stepping behind the stroller to push it. I put the diaper bag on it. He can see my face from where I'm pushing. I smile down at him to calm his fussing. He continues to throw his little fists around and kick in anger.

"I know. Daddy has you. Daddy thought we would go for a walk. Mommy told daddy that fresh air helps little Blaise to grow big and strong. Daddy just wants to make sure he does everything right, that way Blaise grows up to be big and strong like daddy and mommy. He also wants Mommy to be happy with leaving Blaise with him. Maybe mommy will then allow daddy to take mommy on a date."

I notice he settles a little bit while I'm talking to him. I decide to tell him the story of how I became a vampire. I keep it kid friendly though. I don't want to scare him at all.

When we get back from our walk I notice Elena's car is gone from our driveway. Probably a good thing. I pull Blaise out of the stroller and bring him inside. I heat up some milk for him and bring him upstairs to my room. I rock him gently while feeding him. After he finishes I burp him then change him. I rock him slowly till he falls asleep then place him in his crib. I head over to Stefan's room where Vicki is laying on the bed listening to music.

"What are you doing?" I ask her.

"Just contemplating the next hundred years. Why did you do it?" She asks me.

"I was...bored." I tell her contemplating telling her the truth, but decide against it. I need to protect Evie and Blaise.

"You did this to me out of boredom?" Vicki asks in disbelief.

"It's one of the pitfalls of eternity." I tell her nonchalantly.

"Now I'm bored. And all I can think about is blood. I just want some blood. I can't think about anything else. What is that about?" She asks.

"That'll ease up. You've just been cooped up all day. Let's go." I tell her wanting to show her one of the joys of being a vampire.

"Where?" Vicki asks confused.

"Your life was pathetic. Your afterlife doesn't have to be." I tell her leading her downstairs.

"What are you doing?" Stefan asks trying to stop us.

"She's been cooped up in your room all day. She's not Anne Frank." I tell him.

"No no. Hey hey...Now's not the time for this." He tries to convince me.

"If you're gonna teach her. Teach her. Show her what it's all about." I taunt him.

"She could hurt someone." He reiterates.

"I'm not takin' her to Disneyland. We're going in the front yard. Come on." I say rolling my eyes. We all walk out to the front yard.

"Bad idea Damon." Stefan warns.

"She's a vampire Stefan, she should know the perks." I tell him.

"Like what?" Vicki asks eager to learn.

"Like..." I say speeding from in front of her to behind her.

"Whoa. How did you do that? Ho ho ho ho." She asks in awe.

"Come on Vicki, live a little. No pun intended." I entice. She then uses her super speed and runs away. Well, that didn't go over very well. "Uh...my bad." I tell Stefan heading inside to check on Blaise.

Evie's POV

"You gotta call me, Vic. I don't get it. What's going on with you? Just...just call me please." Jer leaves another message on the phone for Vicki.

"Would you wanna go to the Halloween thing at school with Elena and I?" I ask him meeting Elena's eyes. I hate hurting Jer like this.

"Cool. Sure. Sounds uh...sounds fun. Can't wait." Jer says. Jenna texts me asking me to bring her a paper she printed out that she accidentally left at the house.

"Would you wanna come to drop off something for Jenna?" I ask Jer.

"Sure, I'll come." He agrees. I run upstairs to grab the paper from her room.

"I know you're upset about Vicki. I heard she called Matt. But you can't be with her. She needs to get better. The best thing you can do for her is let her go." I hear Elena say.

"What does that even mean, 'let her go'? Oh, okay, sure. Since we're such experts on letting people go, right?" Jer asks getting upset with Elena.

"I know you may not see it, but trust me Jer. It's for the best." Elena tries to convince him.

"Look, for months after mom and dad died, I felt like crap, like 'nothing really even mattered' crap. Now all of a sudden, I get these moments and things started to feel just a little bit better, and Vicki was in every single of 'em. So you may not see it, but trust me. Keeping me away from her is not for the best." Jer argues with her. I walk downstairs and hand him my keys. He heads to my car.

"We will meet you at the school after?" I ask her softly knowing she is just trying to keep Jer safe even if she's going about it all wrong.

"Yeah," she replies with a sigh. I head out to the car with the stuff.

"Are you going to tell me to stay away from Vicki, too?" He accuses me as I get into the car. We start to drive to the university where we are meeting Aunt Jenna.

"No, that's none of my business. And besides it won't work. Remember I got pregnant. I'm the queen of rebelling." I tell him with a chuckle. He chuckles with me.

"Yeah, that's true." He agrees.

"Just be safe. I'm not sure what she has gotten herself into. Elena means well." I tell him he rolls his eyes at me. "I never said she was going about it the right way. She's worried that Vicki's drug habit will drag you down. I don't want Blaise to have to visit his uncle from behind bars." I keep talking.

"He won't. I promise." He vows.

"Good, we need you Jer. You're my little brother. I just want you safe. Do me a favour. Text me when your with her and where you are, also when you plan to leave and be back?" I ask him.

"You're not gonna come tell me what to do right?" He asks cautiously.

"No, I just want to make sure I know right away if something has happened to you. Sooner I know more likely you are to survive." I reply to him.

"Alright, I can make that deal." He agrees. "Vicki and I are talking of meeting up at the school." I look up at him in alarm.

"Is that such a good idea?" I ask him scared for him.

"You told me you wouldn't." he whines to me.

"I'm not getting upset. She just got back from wherever she was. I thought she might want a night in where their aren't any drugs, after that bad trip." I reply trying to come up with a reason.

"No, she wants to meet up." He insists.

"Well, don't be upset if she acts strange," I tell him.

We arrive at the university. I text Damon checking in on him and Blaise. I also tell him about Vicki meeting Jer at the school carnival. He texts back with a picture of a sleeping Blaise and that Stefan will be there. I spot Jenna and Jer and I walk over to her.

"What are your plans this evening?" Jenna asks us as we walk up.

"We were thinking of going to the school for the carnival." Jer tells her.

"Alright, are you planning on drinking?" Jenna asks us.

"No, I'm not." I reply.

"Maybe a drink or two." Jer tells her honestly.

"Alright, Evie you can be the driver and make sure Jer is safe." Jenna orders me.

"Yes ma'am, I'll look out for him." I say.

"Did you need me to look after Blaise?" She asks.

"No, Damon has him." I reply.

"Thank you so much," Jenna says when I hand her, her paper.

When we get back to the house and I go change into my costume. I hear the doorbell ring. I change into my little red riding hood costume. I hear a knock on my door.

"Come in," I call out. Damon comes in while holding Blaise. "Hey, how are you two?"

"Hey, we're good. How are you?" Damon replies giving me a kiss.

"I'm good." I reply.

"I thought we would stop by I didn't know if you had a costume for him." Damon mentions sitting down on my bed. Blaise in his lap chewing on one of his teething toys.

"Yeah, I got him a little wolf costume. If you can put him in it, I can finish getting ready." I tell him putting Blaise's costume on the bed.

"Sure," He agrees grabbing the costume and putting it on Blaise while I go to the washroom to put on my makeup and do my hair. I head back to my room and put on my long red cape. I put my black heels on. "You look gorgeous." He tells me giving me another kiss.

"Thank you." I reply.

"I will see you later tonight?" He asks.

"Yeah, are you planning on coming to the school?"

"I can come pick you up?" He offers.

"I have to make sure Jer gets home." I reply.

"We can drop him off on the way back to my place."

"Alright, that works." I agree kissing him. He picks up Blaise and we leave. Jer comes with me in my car.

"Did you see Elena?" I ask him.

"No, I guess she went with Stefan." He replies shrugging.

"I guess." We arrive and the school and he runs off. I see Care and Bonnie walking in and run to go meet them.

"Omg you look amazing," Care compliments.

"Thanks, You both do as well." I reply.

"Where's Blaise?" Bonnie asks.

"With Damon," I tell her. We walk in and see Tyler standing by a drinks table.

"Cider for the ladies. It's a Lockwood special." He offers.

"No way. Last year I was hung over until Thanksgiving." Bonnie replies. Tyler just hands me a bottle of sparkling cherry juice.

"Lightweight. I am going to drink until someone is hot enough to make out with." Care replies taking a cup from Tyler.

"Sounds like a plan." Tyler agrees. They both walk away.

"You're just hoping she will make out with you." I tell him lightly pushing on his shoulder.

"Maybe…" He trails off teasingly. "How are you and Damon doing?"

"We are good. He adores Blaise." I tell him.

"Good, if he didn't I'd have to beat him up. Blaise is the best." Tyler compliments.

"Yeah, you will have to stop by and come see him. I know he misses you," I tell him. He agrees and I walk away.

I see Elena and Jer. Jer scares some kids and Elena smacks him on the back of the head. Matt walks up to Elena. They are both wearing their couples costume from last year.

"You went with last year's costume too, huh?" Matt asks. I stop to listen.

"Yeah. I didn't know that I was coming till an hour ago." Elena makes the excuse. She knew earlier today.

"Me neither. And you're going as...you?" Matt asks Jer. He scoffs then walks off.

"He's not talking to me right now. We got into fight." Elena tells Matt.

"Yeah, I got into it with Vic too, when she got home. I'm trying not to smother her tonight, but part of me didn't wanna let her out of my sight." Matt tells her concerned about his sister.

"She's here?" Elena asks freaking out.

"Yeah, you can't miss her. She's a vampire." Matt says. Her costume is a little on the nose.

"Where did Jeremy go?" Elena asks looking around frantically.

"Elena what's the matter?" Matt asks her concerned.

"I..I've gotta find him." Elena stutters and then takes off.

"Hey Matt," I greet him.

"Hey Evie, looking good." He greets back.

"Thanks. If I was you I would have just worn jeans and a flannel and called myself a lumberjack. It would have made things less awkward between you and Elena." I explain to him.

"I'm beginning to see that." He replies. Him and I start walking and see Elena, Stefan and Vicki.

"What's goin' on?" Matt asks as we approach.

"Hey. uh, everything's fine." Stefan says unconvincingly.

"I don't think that was believable at all." I tell Stefan.

"I told you to quit bothering me." Vicki whines to Matt.

"No. Vicki, don't do this." Elena pleads.

"Matt, he won't leave me alone." She complains.

"You need to back off, man." Matt says to Stefan trying to protect her.

"Matt, it's...it's okay." Elena tries to reason. I don't even trying knowing that this is a train wreck.

"No, it's not okay. What the hell is your problem?" Matt questions pushing on Stefan's shoulders. I notice Vicki leave and follow her. I loose her in the crowd though. She must be using her speed. I head out the back entrance. I see Vicki attacking Jeremy.

"Vicki!" I call out. She looks up at me and Elena comes out of no where and hits her with a wooden plank. Vicki grabs Elena and throws her into a pile of garbage. Stefan grabs Vicki and holds her up by the neck against the bus. Stefan is struggling. I run over to Jeremy.

"Vicki!" Jer yells.

Vicki disappears from under Stefan's hands.

"Go. get inside. Go!" Stefan yells out to us. Elena and I both grab Jeremy and run. Stefan continues to look around and listen for Vicki. Vicki shows up out of no where. I step in front of Jer to protect him. She just pushes him and I out of the way. She grabs and bites Elena. Stefan stakes her and Vicki turns grey dying.

"Vicki! Vicki! Vicki! Vicki!" Jer calls out while I hold him. He collapses to his knees. Damon speeds over with Blaise in his car seat.

"You two alright?" Damon asks Jer and I.

"Yeah, we aren't hurt." I tell him.

"Take Blaise with you and you two head home. I'll take care of this." He whispers to us. I help Jer up and take him to my car while holding Blaise's carrier. I plug the carrier into the base in my car and get in. I drive us back home.

"What happened?" Jer asks me, tears streaming down his face.

"Can you wait till we get home? Damon can explain." I ask him.

"Alright," he replies quietly looking out the window. We both head inside. Jer goes to his room lying in his bed crying. I put a sleeping Blaise in his crib in my room and go curl up in Jer's bed with him. Cuddling him to me, so he knows he's not alone.

"I don't understand. I mean, I know what I saw, but...I don't understand." He cries to me.

"She was going to kill Elena." I tell him.

"Now she's dead. Vicki's dead." Jer sobs

"I'm so sorry, Jer." I apologize.

"Make it stop. It hurts." He cries into my chest.

"Shh, shh, shh, shh. It's okay. it's okay." I sooth.

"Why does everybody have to die on me?" He asks me rhetorically.

I continue to sooth and hold Jer till he falls asleep. Damon then walks in.

"Damon?" I question quietly.

"Elena wants me to erase his memory." Damon says.

"But, he will still feel sad but not know why." I tell him confused.

"No, I can make him not feel sad." Damon informs me.

"Please, don't take his memory away. He deserves to know." I plead him.

"Alright, wake him up. We will talk to him. See what he wants." Damon compromises.

I wake him up gently.

"Jer, Damon's here." I say softly.

"He's here to explain?" He asks me in a rough voice. Damon sits on the bed beside him.

"I turned Vicki into a vampire. She wasn't going to survive. She was an addict and wouldn't have been able to actually deal with the change." Damon explains.

"Why not?" Jeremy asks him looking at him.

"Because our emotions are heightened. Her addiction will be so much worse, but with blood instead of drugs." He replies.

"Okay, I guess I understand. Why did you turn her?" Jer asks. I give Damon a pleading look to tell him the truth.

"You know I'm protective of Blaise. It's because he's my son. She hated Blaise. I got angry and killed her. She just happened to have my blood still in her system from when I healed her." Damon admits. "Now, Elena wants me to erase your memory. Evie doesn't want me to. What would you prefer?"

"Do you have to just erase my memory?" He asks.

"No, I can just take away the emotions of the loss." Damon offers.

"Can you just make it so I can keep to the story and process things when I'm alone, but act like myself from before all this death around others." Jer suggests.

"Yeah, I can do that." Damon compels Jer but also adds that he can process when Damon and/or I are around without anyone else. That way he doesn't have to process alone.

"Thanks Damon," he thanks.

"Would you like some time alone?" I ask him

"Yeah, please." He replies.

"Call me if you need anything." I tell him as Damon and I both leave his room, closing the door behind us. I head to my room and get Blaise ready to head over to Damon's. I change him into his PJ's.

"You can change when you get to my place. I have some clothes I got for you at the house." Damon offers me. I put Blaise back into his carrier and Damon carries it. "We will just tell Stefan and Elena that I erased his memory. That way she doesn't start anything." Damon whispers to me, kissing the side of my head.

"Okay," I reply quietly. We both head outside.

"It's done." Damon tells them. Elena walks back into the house. Damon clips Blaise in his car and I get in the passenger seat. "Where was Jenna?" Damon asks me while driving to his place.

"She didn't have to look after Blaise tonight, so she took the night to do some assignments at school." I tell him.

"She's still in university?" He asks confused.

"Yeah, she's got a lot on her plate. She's also the first to volunteer to babysit Blaise, so I don't miss out on any high school opportunities." I say.

"That's kind of her. But now you have me to help you out." Damon replies.

We arrive at the house and head in. We head straight to his room. He changes Blaise and puts him down while I change into one of his t-shirts. I pick Blaise up to feed him. Damon rubs Blaise's back while he eats. After Blaise is done he burps him, then changes him and puts him in his crib. He then pulls me into his chest to sleep.
