Author's Note: Well still haven't finished the rest of the story but I figured I start posting what I got but just at a slower pace.
End of Author's Note
It had been several days of sailing for Sonic and he has had enough.
"I want to run! Where is land!?" He quickly and desperately looked all around him for any sign of land but all he saw was water everywhere. "UHG!" He said falling back to lie down. "Man, this is so slow. The moment I get on land I am finding a faster way to travel." He then remembered that this was a gift and scrapped the thought. "Well, I guess this isn't so bad. At least the sky is clear."
Then out of nowhere, something hit the boat. "Wow! What was that?!" he looked into the water and to his utter surprise, a giant fin appeared and hit his boat again. "Hey! Watch it!" he said but the creature did not understand. It shot out of the water revealing a long-necked, sharp-toothed, serpent. It hissed at him and attacked.
He was able to dodge but barely and it was apparent this creature was going to be hard to fight.
The Serpent did not stop attacking and Sonic had little to no way to fight back without the high possibility of his boat being damaged and sinking resulting in him sinking too.
"I don't have time for this," he said in annoyance. He then got a crazy idea that he hoped would work. He leaned on the end of the boat and began running on the surface of the water. Just like he hoped he became a motor for the boat and was able to escape the serpent in a flash. The serpent was stunned and just left him alone after that.
"Ha! I can't believe that worked. Now maybe I can find land faster." Just as he said that he saw the faint outline of a small island. "That was fast." he then sped off towards the island.
Within a few minutes, he could see the shore and was thrilled. He couldn't wait to get on dry land and off the water. But in his haste, he lost his balance on the waves and tripped. He accidentally let go of the boat and fell into the water. Before he knew it he was sinking.
As he sank he desperately tried to swim but no matter what he did he continued to sink. He eventually ran out of breath and got lightheaded from the lack of air. He thought back on his life and how he promised everyone he would return only for him to end up like this. Before he knew it he passed out.
After a while he found himself waking up on the shore. "W-what!" He said in surprise. He looked around and saw his boat safe and some fruits next to him. He calmed down and began looking around for whoever saved him but no one was around. He was able to spot their footprints heading into the forest and decided to just let them be.
He ate the fruit and then went to inspect his items. To his delight he found nothing taken and was even more thrilled to find the chaos emerald still stashed away in the basket the chief gave him. However, he was shocked to find the emerald glowing. It was a dime but it was glowing.
"What is going on?" just as he finished saying this the glowing stopped. Sonic was confused and wondered if this was a sign that another chaos emerald was around. He turned toward the island and wondered if he would be able to find anything that could help him in his search. He was excited to explore this new environment and sped off not realizing he was being watched the whole time.
As Sonic ran he took notice of all the new things around him. There were many fruits and animals he had never seen before. He wanted to try all the food but one thing he remembered from his parents was that he should never try strange fruit without knowing exactly what they are first. He learned the consequences firsthand after eating a strange fruit and ending up in bed for a week. However despite all the amazing things he saw the thing he wanted to run into most was a town or at the very least people.
After what seemed like forever he finally found what he was looking for. Signs of people. He saw and accidentally activated many traps but was too fast to get caught in them. He was amazed though since they ranged from simple pitfall traps to automatic lock cage devices. He just figured it was for hunting so he tried to avoid them. Then after dodging dozens of traps while activating as few as possible he finally found a village.
"Now we're talking," he said as he walked up to the village. To his surprise, everyone sent cold or suspicious glares his way which startled him. No one talked to him and no one approached him. Sonic wasn't even sure he should even get closer but he had to find at least more supplies for his journey so he walked in.
As he walked everyone avoided him and even when he walked up to a shop the person running it would hide. Eventually Sonic had to give up and left. He was not happy at how hostile they were towards him and figured that's why there were so many traps. They were not for hunting they were to keep intruders out.
"Well, what can I do now? I still need supplies. A touch-up on the boat wouldn't be bad either." he sped off to his boat. When he was almost there he was stunned to see someone there already. A little fox with his tail wrapped in a bandage doing something to his boat. He was worried that they were destroying it so he ran up.
"Hey! What are you doing!?" The fox turned around in surprise and ran off toward the forest. Sonic wanted to chase him but he had to check the boat first. To his surprise, the fox did not destroy it. He actually fixed it up and even added an actual motor. "Wow." He looked back in the direction the fox ran and wondered why he helped him. After a moment's thought, he decided to just leave the fox alone since it was apparent he didn't want to interact with him as well. Now he had to gather food as well as check to see if a chaos emerald was on the island.
He hurried off not realizing the fox was still there and watched him move super fast.
"Wow". Was all he could say before he walked off in a different direction than the Sonic.
Meanwhile, Sonic was looking high and low for any sign of the chaos emerald but was having no luck. He had tried to talk to some people he came across but just like the village they ignored him and walked off. At this point, he was getting extremely annoyed but didn't want to bother them any more than he apparently already was so he left them alone.
When the sun began to set he figured now would be a good time to call it a day and raced back to the boat. To his utter shock, there was more fruit, water, and even a little handmade bed to sleep in.
"Wow. Was it that fox again?". He wondered. He got closer and was even more thrilled to see that the fox even left him a world map. "Alright. Now this could be very helpful. Now I just need to find that emerald." He then yawned. "After some sleep.". He got into the bed and found it comfy. He fell asleep in no times
While he did that the fox watched him and after seeing Sonic sleep in the bed his tail wagged from happiness. He then went off to who knows where.
