Alright people here's chapter number 30. As I mentioned at the end of the last chapter I'm veering off from the Sinestro Corps a little and going back to something else involving Tyler. Now I hope the title doesn't give it away. But whether it does or not you're about to see exactly what happens. Let's go.
In the city of Chicago one night, the whole town was completely lit up in the night, and the night skies were cloudless and full of stars, while the moon was full.
At his apartment in the middle of the city, Tyler was in his kitchen, cleaning up the dishes after dinner. He was wearing a dark green t-shirt underneath his dark brown leather jacket. Along with that he wore a pair of dark blue jeans, his regular black combat boots, and as usual he kept his long hair tied in a ponytail behind his head.
His apartment was almost twice as big as the one Eddie lived in, and his kitchen had light gray tiles on the floor, and a white countertop and a tall chrome refrigerator. His living room was bigger than anything else; It had a long tan and white colored rug over the dark brown wooden floors, a glass coffee table along with a long red leather couch. And across from it, was a 45 inch flat screen TV mounted on the wall.
"You're a really great cook, Tyler," said a girl who was sitting on his couch. This girl had long, waist length golden brown hair, her eyes were hazel and her she had olive skin. She was wearing a long sleeved black and white striped shirt, a pair of light gray pants and light tan high heeled boots. She also wore a pair of diamond earrings on her ears. "It's easy to see why they made you a chef at the restaurant you work at. I think you should be head chef at the place."
"Well, that certainly would be the best job there, Lisa," he replied and finished rinsing dishes and set the last plate in the dishwasher then going over and joining her on the couch.
"To think that restaurant is a special place in more ways than one," Lisa said to him.
"Yeah, it is. I mean it's one of the best restaurants in the world. I'm surprised they hired me there. Now, Lisa babe. There's something I've been wanting to ask you," Tyler said getting up and preparing to reach into his pocket.
"I get that it's a great place, Tyler. But there's another reason."
"Oh, and why is that again?"
His girlfriend's face became shocked. "Are you joking, Tyler? That restaurant is where we had our first kiss."
"It was?" Tyler said not remembering.
"Wait," Lisa said getting up. "Tyler that night was the most romantic night of my life and you don't remember it."
"I'm sorry, Lisa. But a couple weeks ago I woke up in the hospital, and Eddie said I'd suffered an amnesia problem. So there's a lot I can't remember. I don't even remember the accident."
"Well, I guess that's fine. Just please tell me you remember how we first met."
Tyler looked all confused, trying to remember but it was all a blank.
"You're serious?" Lisa asked, getting an angry expression on her face. "Amnesia or not, you can't remember the memories you've had with me? Is the time you spent with me not special to you? Do you not love me, Tyler?" she asked as her expression became slightly saddened.
"What? Why would you say that, babe. Of course I love you? You're the most important person in my life. I'm trying to remember, Lisa. I really am."
"Yeah? Well I think until you really remember, I think we need some time apart, Tyler," Lisa said grabbing her purse and getting up.
"Wait. Are you saying that you're breaking up with me?"
"I just- I don't know, Tyler. I just don't know. I need time to think, so until I say so, don't call me, don't come to my house, don't even visit me at work."
She walked over to the door and slammed it closed behind her.
Tyler stared to his entrance door and then reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring he was gonna propose to her with. "Why is this happening to me? Why can't I remember my times with her?" He asked himself.
He tossed the ring on his coffee table then walked back into the kitchen; He walked over to the fridge and pulled out a case of beer and moved it over to the counter. He pulled out a few bottles, unscrewed the cap off one and drunk it.
After taking a drink he set his beer down and took off his jacket. He held it in his hands, while staring down to it. Tyler closed his eyes, shedding a tear from his right eye. "Why me." He said and tossed his jacket away then picked up his beer for another drink.
But no sooner after he did, did he hear something clink on the floor, which caught his attention.
Tyler walked over towards his jacket and picked something up off the floor and stared right at it.
"Where did this ring come from?" Tyler asked staring at the strange, red ring's symbol.
And then he began to see things, as he looked at the symbol. Scenes he didn't remember began flashing though his head, in which he groaned and dropped his beer, which shattered on the floor.
Tyler looked down to his right hand and then raised it in front of his face. And then, without taking his eyes off the ring he slowly moved it to his hand, and then slid it on his right hand's middle finger.
Once he put it on, it began to glow crimson red and then a red fiery aura began to surround his body.
He screamed aloud and opened his now red glowing eyes, as a vortex of red light shot from his body and he began remembering everything about being a Red Lantern.
The vortex of light stopped shooting from his body, and the red light faded and Tyler stood tall wearing his Red Lantern suit once again.
"Now I remember. All of it!" Tyler said angrily. "It was all Eddie's fault."
And then his ring began to beep.
Tyler answered the call and Atrocitus appeared in holographic form on his ring.
"Tyler," Atrocitus spoke to him. "I was monitoring and your ring's signal came back online. Tell me, why has it been offline for so long?"
"Forgive me, Lord Atrocitus. But a short while back I unfortunately had an accident, and I suffered an amnesia problem. To make matters worse, sir, it was Eddie's doing."
"Insignificant human. Never mind that, Tyler. While you were absent, we have been working on a new plan, here on Ysmault. One that is sure to make your former friend suffer and writhe."
"I'm listening," Tyler said sitting on his couch.
Atrocitus went on and began explaining the Red Lantern's plans to Tyler.
The next day at a small café downtown, Eddie made his way down there, because Tyler called him, saying that he wanted Eddie to meet him there.
Today Eddie wore a brown t-shirt under his white jacket, a pair of light blue jeans and his usual black and gray tennis shoes.
He walked into the café to see Tyler who was wearing the same clothes as last night at a nearby, table next to the window, and Eddie walked over to join him.
"How's it going?" Eddie asked taking a seat opposite from him.
"I'm pretty good. You?" Tyler returned the question.
"Things have been great. That job I told you about in the hospital, it uh...it pays well. Better than being the school janitor."
"Anything's better than being the school janitor, dude."
Then a waitress walked over to them. She had long reddish brown hair tied behind her head in a bun, wearing the work uniform which consisted of a green, short sleeved shirt a black skirt for the women and black dress pants for the men. Along with a pair of black flats, with long nylons covering her legs completely. And her nametag read Jennifer.
"Hello, welcome to Ispento Coffee. My name is Jennifer and I'll be your waitress today. What can I get for you boys?" She asked pulling out a notepad and pen
"I'll have an espresso, decaf. And a blueberry cobbler, please," Eddie said viewing the menu.
"Right away. And for you?" she turned to Tyler.
"I'll take a decaf espresso, too. And a peach cobbler," Tyler replied.
"Coming up," the waitress said writing their orders down and walking off.
"So is there any particular reason you called me here, Tyler? You sounded a little bit distraught over the phone when we talked."
Tyler sighed. "It's time I come clean, Eddie. Last night, Lisa and I were at my place and unfortunately, due to my accident and amnesia, I couldn't remember some of our time together."
"Oh. Well that's not good."
"No, it isn't. She was so mad at me for not being able to remember the times that were most special to her, that she walked out on me and said we had to spend time apart. Now I'm just worried my relationship with her is over," Tyler sighed again and buried his face in his left hand. "What am I gonna do, Eddie. Last night, I felt that the time was finally the right time to propose."
"I imagine that would've been really romantic," Eddie said and then the waitress returned with their espressos.
"Your boys' cobblers are coming right up," she said walking off once more.
"Thank you," they both said in unison.
"Well, why don't you call her, and ask for just another chance? And then make it up to her by proposing to her."
"I wish I could, dude. I wish I could. But she told me not to visit her at work or at home, and not to call her. So until she's ready to talk to me again, proposing is out of the question."
"I wish I could help you, Tyler. I really do. But unfortunately, I'm no expert on women."
"Maybe not. But even though I had amnesia, Eddie. I remember you met somebody. I remember what she looks like, and she was really pretty."
Eddie smirked. "She is isn't she. Though we've only really had one date, but unfortunately it got interrupted. My only advice to you, Tyler is to trust your heart, and don't give up hope. I'm almost positive that in due time, Lisa will forgive you. Just gotta give it time."
"You always know just what to say, dude. I'm glad I asked you here."
And then the waitress returned once more. "Okay, one peach cobbler," she laid Tyler's plate in front of him. "And one blueberry cobbler." She did the same with Eddie.
"Nobody makes peach cobbler like this place," Tyler said picking up a fork with his right hand, and then something caught Eddie's attention.
"Tyler. Where'd you get that ring?" Eddie asked completely in shock.
Tyler took a bite of his cobbler and looked to his red ring. "Oh, this? I don't know where it came from. Never saw it before. Just found it in my pocket last night."
Eddie gasped in shock slightly, and flashbacked to after Tyler had his accident in Paris, and remembered him slipping the Red Lantern ring in Tyler's coat pocket.
"Are you okay?" Tyler asked. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I...I'm fine it's just..." Eddie got up from his seat. "I gotta go. I'm sorry to leave you behind, Tyler but I just remembered I have someplace to be. I'll make this up to you."
"All right. See you later," Tyler replied waving to him.
Eddie used his credit card to pay for his cobbler and coffee then left the café.
Tyler kept his eyes on Eddie till he walked out the door. "Hmm. Didn't touch his cobbler." He said pulling Eddie's plate towards him and taking a bite of Eddie's untouched blueberry cobbler. "He's onto me. Guess he's not as dim as I took him for." And then he took a bite of his own cobbler with a smirk.
"He remembers?" Elsa asked Eddie, who'd gone to Arendelle to inform them.
"I'm almost positive," Eddie replied.
"But how? You said he lost his memory. So how can he remember being a Red Lantern?" Anna asked.
"I'm thinking when he saw his ring, his memory came back to him. I don't know what I was thinking. Until he'd told me where he found it, I completely forgot what I did with that Red Lantern ring after his accident."
"Where did you put it, exactly?" Kristoff asked.
"I put it in his pocket after he fell into a coma, but before that I thought I'd tossed it aside in that alleyway."
"Maybe you're wrong though," Anna stepped up. "Maybe he doesn't remember."
"No. I'm almost positive he does. When we were at the café, and I asked him where he'd found that ring he looked concerned for a split second, and he must've had to think up a lie."
"So what will you do?" Elsa asked him again.
"I'm gonna go over to his place, tonight. And I'm gonna question him about it. As for the four of us; I think it's best we part ways for a little while," Eddie looked towards Elsa. "I know you might not like that idea, Elsa. But believe me, it's the best thing we can do right now. If he really does remember everything, then you know that he'll want you dead as much as he wants me dead. I wish there were another way, but if something were to go wrong I'm sure you won't be far down his list."
"You're right," Elsa agreed. "For the time being, it's getting too dangerous for us to be with each other. So I think you're right. We do have to say goodbye for a little while."
"Just whatever happens, all three of you be sure to keep your power rings charged at all times. Elsa, Anna, make sure you train Kristoff as much as possible."
"We will," Anna said. "We'll keep our eyes open for anything."
Elsa walked towards Eddie and she put her left hand on his face. "Until we see each other again." And finally, without interruption this time, the two shared a kiss as Elsa and Eddie locked lips with one another.
They'd kissed for about 15 seconds, and then pulled away from one another as Eddie blushed and his face turned red.
"That was...amazing," he said sighing heavily. "I'll look forward to the moment we see each other again, Elsa."
"So will I," she replied.
Eddie walked over to the glass doors and walked out to the library balcony. He stopped and turned towards Elsa. "Bye," he said to her.
"Goodbye," Elsa said putting her hands together in front of her.
Eddie changed into his Blue Lantern suit and then flew off to the skies.
"Aww," Anna said sweetly. "You're first kiss."
"It felt so wonderful," Elsa said.
Later that night back in Chicago, Tyler was at his apartment once more standing in the living room in front of his coffee table, and going over some newspapers.
He picked up a beer and took a drink from it. After he drunk it, he looked to the glass bottle and gave a sly smirk. "Care for a drink?" He offered Eddie who stood near the open window with a stern look on his face. "Not in the mood for a beer, dude. I've got iced tea, Pepsi."
"Cut the games, Tyler."
Tyler chuckled slightly. "Games?" He turned to Eddie. "What are you talking about?"
"I know you remember, Tyler. I realized it from the moment I saw you wearing that Red Lantern ring."
"I was beginning to think you hadn't caught on."
"What is it you want from me, Tyler? Why didn't you come after me the moment you remembered?"
"Orders from Atrocitus. He wasn't too happy that I went after you without approval. But it was thanks to you I couldn't remember anything about Being a Red Lantern. It's thanks to you my relationship with Lisa is basically at its end."
"And how is that my fault?"
"Uh, hello! You were the one who caused my accident! It's because of you I nearly died, and it also gives me another reason to hate you."
"Okay, I'll admit, maybe it was partially my fault that you got hurt, but you left me with little choice. You kept trying to kill me."
"You got me thrown in jail," Tyler said taking another big gulp of his beer then slammed it on the coffee table. "Now it's time for revenge."
"Gonna try and kill me again?"
"In due time, but only once Atrocitus enacts his ultimate plan."
"What are you talking about? What plan?"
Tyler crossed his arms with a small smirk.
"What plan, Tyler?!" Eddie said getting a hint of anger in his voice. "What is he planning?!"
You think I'm gonna just go out an tell you what it is? If I do that, Atrocitus will kill me."
"Then maybe I'll just have to beat it out of you," Eddie said lighting up his ring.
"I'd like to see you try."
Then both at once, Eddie and Tyler shot energy blasts from their rings, which collided with the other's.
"This is your last chance, Tyler. Tell me what Atrocitus is planning."
"Can't do that. But soon enough, you'll see for yourself."
They stopped firing blasts then changed into their Lantern suits.
Eddie flew towards Tyler and pinned him against the wall. "I wanna know what that red menace is planning, and I wanna know now!" Eddie yelled.
Tyler smirked once more then blasted Eddie off him with his ring. After doing so, Tyler constructed a broadsword and flew towards Eddie, who was on the ground and prepared to strike him.
Eddie however countered by constructing a combat sword and blocked Tyler's attack.
Tyler and Eddie both struggled against one another as Tyler strained to finish Eddie off, and Eddie did the same to keep him at bay.
Eddie finally kicked Tyler off of him, making the Red Lantern land on his glass coffee table and shatter it.
Tyler glared at Eddie as they both got up. "That was a $500 coffee table."
"So, sue me," Eddie retaliated.
"Oh, I'll do worse than sue you! I'll end you!" Tyler yelled flying towards his former Blue Lantern friend, and they went out the open window and took their fight into the skies.
Eddie grabbed Tyler by the torso, and punched him across the face, but after he did so, Tyler kicked him in his gut then blasted him against a building wall.
"If it hadn't been for me, you'd be in prison still. I don't know why I ever paid that bail for you. I thought that if you lost your memory about being a Red Lantern, these troubles with you would be over, and we'd start over, but once more I was wrong about you," Eddie said pointing at his former friend.
"Well as smart as you think you are, maybe you should've been more careful what you did with this ring," Tyler said back to him.
"I wish I'd never told you about all my experiences as a Lantern, then maybe I wouldn't be dealing with this situation. And as if I didn't have enough to worry about, wondering what Atrocitus is planning to do, I have another threat to contend with."
"Forget about that threat. How about you focus on what's right in front of you!" Tyler yelled firing a blast from his ring at Eddie, who flew off in another direction, barely avoiding it.
"Forget the threat? Are you kidding me? If you had any idea what else I was up against, Tyler, you'd take my side."
"I think not. If you're so worried about this threat, then let me end you," he said firing another blast at Eddie, who managed to dodge it again.
"It seems there's only one thing I can do about this: I'm gonna find a way to force you to tell me what Atrocitus is planning."
Eddie fired a blast from his ring at Tyler, who countered, by putting up a shield.
After Eddie stopped firing his blast, Tyler threw his shield like a Frisbee at Eddie, which hit him in his gut.
Tyler then flew towards Eddie, and knocked him higher into the air with a giant fist construct.
Eddie went so high into the air, that he got knocked out of Earth's atmosphere. He looked down to see Tyler flying up towards him and then constructed a massive cannon.
Tyler looked towards Eddie and then created a chainsaw, but before he could get to him, Eddie shot a massive blue energy blast at Tyler, sending him falling back down, and the Red Lantern caught fire in re-entry, but was protected by his personal shield.
He crash landed in the middle of the park, leaving a giant crater in the ground.
"Ow, ow, ow," Tyler groaned in pain, cracking his joints back into place, and then he looked to see Eddie descending towards him. "We'll finish this another time." He said as he opened a red portal behind him and walked through.
"Don't run from me!" Eddie yelled to him as the portal closed. "Always running from the fight. Coward. Though I think I know where he's going."
Eddie flew off into space, and then opened a wormhole to get to his destination.
All right. There you have it, Tyler finally got his memory back, which is trouble for Eddie. Now he's got 2 threats he's gotta deal with. The Red Lanterns and the Sinestro Corps. Next chapter you'll find out exactly what Atrocitus plans to do. I won't say what it is, but I can tell you it won't be pretty. Until next time, please read, review and enjoy.
