Ok, here's my newest chapter. As I mentioned at the end of the last chapter, in this one another character from Frozen will get a power ring. I already assume that the chapter is pretty much a dead giveaway as to who, so sorry about that. But I hope you enjoy it anyway. Let's go.
Almost two weeks after Lisa and Tyler's wedding, it was now early December. The skies in Chicago were covered with gray clouds, snow was falling and out far from the city, Eddie was finally moved into his new house.
It was a three-story light gray bricked house with white gutters, a black tiled roof and a red brick chimney, with smoke coming from the lit fire inside.
Around the house on the gutters, red, white and green Christmas lights hung, along with a light up Santa Claus in a reindeer pulled sleigh on top of the roof.
Inside the house, Elsa, Eddie, Anna and Kristoff were in the living room, which was 5 times bigger than the one in Eddie's old apartment, which had white walls, mocha brown carpet and on the far-left end of the room, an 85-inch flat screen TV sat in the corner on its stand, with a long black leather sofa about 6 feet in front of it.
The four were all around an 8-foot Christmas tree, that had cool white colored lights all over it, and they were decorating it with silver tinsel, red and green bulbs and other ornaments.
"Ah, I just love Christmas. My favorite time of the year," Eddie said while stringing on tinsel.
"Mine too," Elsa responded picking up a box of red bulbs. "I bet it's gonna be even better now that you're in a new house."
"Yeah. My first Christmas in this house is gonna be one to remember." Eddie said going into the kitchen and walked over to the stove, where a pot of cocoa was cooking. "Perfect. Cocoa's ready." He then took four red mugs designed with snowmen in a field of snow and poured the cocoa into each one of them. After doing so, the human Blue Lantern put them on a big tray and brought them over to the living room for him and his three friends. "All right, people, here's to my new house, and our first Christmas together." Eddie said as they each took a cup.
"Here, here," Kristoff said as they all clinked their cups together.
"And thanks for helping me decorate the tree," Eddie said once more.
"It was fun," Elsa said admiring it. "It looks great."
Eddie took a sip of his cocoa and then realized something. "Not finished yet though. Still needs one more thing." He set his cocoa down on the coffee table in the center living room, then walked over to the boxes of ornaments and grabbed a dark brown wooden box. "When I moved out into that apartment, my parents thought I should have this." Eddie said bringing over the box for his three friends to see. "When I was a kid, every Christmas my parents would have me put this up on our tree." Eddie opened the box and inside it had red soft fabric all over and sitting in the box was a silver glass angel.
"Oh, it's so beautiful," Elsa said in awe.
Eddie took it out of the box and then turned towards the tree but stopped and looked towards Elsa. "Care to do the honors?" He asked holding the angel out for her.
"Me? I'd love to," Elsa said taking the angel and used her ring's ability to fly and floated up to the top of the tree and placed it on top.
As Elsa lowered back down to the ground the four friends all looked to the now fully decorated tree.
"Oh, yeah. This Christmas is gonna be one to remember. Later when it gets dark, we'll go out and I'll show you one of the best places to see Christmas lights."
"Sounds like fun," Elsa replied taking a sip of her cocoa.
"Ooh, that reminds me, Elsa, I got a little something for you," Eddie said going into a closet near the front door, where he pulled out something small and gift wrapped. "I know Christmas is still like a little over 3 weeks away, but there's no harm in really giving an early Christmas present." Eddie said giving Elsa the gift.
"Well, aren't you thoughtful," Elsa said tearing off the paper to reveal a white Apple Iphone 13. "Oh, my god." The snow queen said rather surprised.
"That's the new Iphone 13. A few weeks back, before the wedding, I finally decided it was time to get a new phone, and they offered me a deal I couldn't refuse," Eddie responded and pulled out a black Iphone 13 of his own. "Two Iphones, one plan, unlimited data and minutes. I got you all set up with a number and everything."
Elsa looked to Eddie with a smile and the two embraced. "That is so sweet of you. Thank you."
"Now we don't have to use our rings to contact one another all the time," Eddie said.
"Think you can help me get this set up? Because this kind of technology is still kind of new to me."
"Absolutely," Eddie replied. "We could also watch a movie." He said going over to the TV stand and grabbed a selection of Christmas movies. "I got Elf, The Polar Express, Jingle all the Way, Christmas Vacation, Shrek the Halls, Michael Keaton's Jack Frost, Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
"Stole Christmas?" Anna perked up.
"How do you steal Christmas?" Kristoff asked.
"Well, the thing about the movie is it's about this green, furry creature who lives up in the mountains near a town who loves Christmas above all holidays, but he hates Christmas as much as they love it, and then he thinks he can steal Christmas by stealing the town's Christmas gifts, but learns the real truth about Christmas," Eddie explained.
"Well, that sounds like I really interesting movie," Elsa said. "I say let's watch it."
"I'm in," Anna responded.
"I'm game," Kristoff said.
"The Grinch it is, then," Eddie said as he walked over to the TV to start the movie, then began to help Elsa set up her new phone.
Later on, that night as Eddie had said, they'd driven in Eddie's new red Dodge Journey SUV to the Lincoln Park Zoo, where there were lights and decorations set up everywhere.
After getting out of the vehicle, Anna wore her blue winter dress and pink cape with a hood, while Kristoff wore his gray snowsuit and beanie.
Elsa also wore a winter dress, which was dark blue and had white fur around the collar.
Eddie wore a heavy light gray jacket, a dark blue beanie on his head, black winter gloves and black snow boots.
"Oh, this is so amazing," Anna said looking at all the lights and decor in awe as they all walked through the crowds of people that were there.
As far as the eye could see, the trees were strung completely with both white and multi-colored lights, signs that read love and joy stood atop the lampposts, as well as other Christmas shaped lights stood such as nutcrackers, reindeer and other things.
The four friends walked through the park admiring it all, as well as the other people who walked through the park.
After making their way through it all, Elsa noticed an ice-skating rink nearby. "Oh, look. An ice rink. Want to go ice-skating?" She asked the others.
"I would, but there's just one problem. I don't know how to skate," Eddie replied.
"I could teach you how if you'd like," Elsa offered.
Eddie thought about it for a minute and decided that since he and Elsa were basically a couple, it might be nice to try something that they could enjoy doing. "All right."
At the rink, there were dozens of people already on the ice skating in a big circle and the four friends rented their skates and made their way over to the ice. On the bench, Elsa and Eddie sat down, lacing up their skates.
"You ready?" Elsa asked.
"I hope so. I've never tried this before so I'm nervous. Never been really good at roller skating."
"You've roller skated before?" Elsa asked again.
"Tried when I was in my early teen years with my first date, but I wasn't good at it. I fell every time. And unfortunately for that, my first girlfriend dumped me. She said that I wasn't worth teaching and that she was wasting her time with me."
Elsa's expression softened a bit with sympathy. "I'm really sorry to hear that. But I promise you that I will not abandon you. I'm gonna be right by your side. I'm really good at ice-skating, Eddie, so if anything happens, I promise I've got you."
Elsa then got up onto the ice and held out her right hand. "Ready?"
Eddie took a deep breath and nodded then took hold of her hand with his left.
"Let's go," Elsa said as she and Eddie joined the crowd and started moving slowly on the ice.
As they began to make the first turn, Eddie exhaled sharply and as they made the turn, he began to lose his balance and looked like he was about to fall, but Elsa held onto his hand, helping him keep his balance and helped him stay upright.
Eddie sighed in relief and looked at Elsa who smiled warmly at him, which he returned.
As the couple continued, they kept making their way skating around the rink, holding onto one another, and Elsa helping Eddie keep his balance. After a few more minutes, Eddie felt much more confident with himself, and he let go of Elsa's hand and was able to stay upright on his own.
"There you go," Elsa said proudly. "You're doing it."
"Yeah. I am, aren't I?" Eddie said noticing another turn coming up. "Let's hope I can make this." He said as it finally came and actually made the turn. "Got it."
Elsa then skated right in front of him and turned to face him while skating backwards. She then held her hands out for him, which Eddie took, and the young couple began to spin around in circles while holding onto one another.
"This is so much fun," Eddie said as the two laughed happily.
But all their fun was about to end, because just then an orange blast hit the ice, cracking the whole thing, causing people to scatter about and run screaming to get off the ice.
"What the?" Eddie said as he noticed the ice cracking.
He and Elsa looked all around and when they were sure nobody was paying attention to them, they flew up off the ice and took to the snowy skies, where they both morphed into their Lantern suits.
"What just happened?" Elsa asked.
"I saw some orange flash of light out of the corner of my eye, and the next thing I know, the ice began to crack."
"I see you've obtained some new powers as well, wicked sorceress."
Elsa perked up at the sound of that voice and she and Eddie looked further up to see one of the last faces she ever wanted to see again. "You?" Elsa said in shock. "If it isn't the Duke of Weasel-Town."
"WESELTON! It's Weselton!" The duke said wearing a suit similar to his natural clothing, but was completely black and orange, with the Orange Lantern insignia on his chest.
"You know this guy?" Eddie asked.
"He's the duke from another country. They used to be Arendelle's closest trade partner, but after accusing me of being a sorceress, and finding out his true intentions to expose Arendelle for all our misdeeds, we stopped all trade and business with Weselton."
"Looks like he's here for revenge. He's an Orange Lantern."
"But how?" Elsa asked.
"Well, to answer your question, several nights ago, I was in my office trying to find new trade partners when this ring floated down to me, bathing my entire workspace with orange light, and as soon as I took it, I could tell this was no ordinary ring, but something extraordinarily powerful. And with it, I knew I could use it for revenge on you."
"Wait a second, now I know," Eddie said.
"Know what?" Elsa asked.
"When I was cleaning out my apartment and packing things up to move, I felt like there was something missing. Now I realize that what was missing was that Orange Lantern ring I'd had. I can only assume he's one greedy old man."
"Big time," Elsa replied.
"Then it all makes sense. The greed in his heart must've awakened that Orange Lantern ring and chosen him."
"Ah, so this is called an Orange Lantern ring, you say?" The duke said eyeing the ring. "Fueled by avarice."
"I don't know what your intentions are here, old man. But whatever it is, you're not gonna succeed."
"My intentions, peasant, are to rid the world of this wicked sorceress, so I may claim the riches I desire. And with this ring, nobody can stop me."
"You'll never harm the people of Arendelle while I'm around." Elsa said lighting up her ring.
"And that wicked sorceress you refer to is my girlfriend," Eddie said sounding very offended.
"Girlfriend?" The duke said shocked. "You must be joking? You, a lowly peasant dating the queen?! Don't make me laugh."
"It's no joke," Elsa spoke up. "He might not be royal in anyway, but he's a very kind and selfless person."
"Say what you like, but to me he's still just a peasant."
"How's this for a peasant?" Eddie said and shot a blast from his ring at the duke, blasting him back.
The duke regained himself and looked down to the human Blue Lantern in anger. "Now you're both dead!" He yelled constructing an electrical orange crossbow, then fired an arrow.
Eddie quickly constructed an archery target, which blocked the arrow. "Nice try, old man, but I've got several months experience with this ring. You've had yours for merely days."
"I'll show you what days-worth of experience can do, peasant," the duke said constructing a round shot cannon and fired a blast at Eddie.
Eddie constructed a large baseball bat, and then hit the cannon's blast back at the duke, which hit him and sent him flying back once more.
"Face it. You can't take us both alone, let alone one of us," Eddie said as he and Elsa made their way towards him.
"Perhaps not. But whoever said I came alone?"
Before Elsa or Eddie could ask, they were both hit with orange blasts from behind.
As soon as they both recovered, Elsa looked to see two more familiar faces, also in Orange Lantern getups.
"Of course, he brought them. How could he not?"
"Who are those two?" Eddie asked.
"His loyal bodyguards, who he's always hiding behind. Over a year ago, they both tried to kill me and nearly succeeded."
"But how'd those two get rings? I only had the one," Eddie said confused.
"Oh, it's simple," the duke said regrouping with his two bodyguards. "As soon as I received this ring, I knew the power I desired and demanded it to take me where I could get more. Next thing we all knew, we're transported into an entirely different place, where there are mountains of these rings. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to bask in the glory of it all, because we were attacked by a strange brown creature, and it nearly ripped us to shreds."
"Been there, done that," Eddie said.
"Enough with all this conversating. Kill them both!" the duke ordered his two men, who both flew at Elsa and Eddie.
Elsa and Eddie flew at the guards in response. Eddie took on the one with the big mustache that connected with his sideburns, while Elsa took the one with a flat hairdo.
Eddie shot a blast at his opponent, who dodged his attack and successfully blasted him back with an orange blast. Afterwards, he grabbed Eddie by his neck and gripped it to choke him. The human Blue Lantern struggled to breath, and quickly punched him back with a giant fist construct.
The guard recovered and glared angrily at Eddie, then constructed a sword and flew at him.
Eddie constructed a combat sword and clashed with him in a swordfight.
Elsewhere in the skies, Elsa fought against the duke's other guard, dodging arrows being shot at her from his two crossbow constructs. Each time he fired an arrow, he quickly constructed a new one in place and repeatedly fired arrows at the snow queen.
Elsa dodged an arrow and then shot a flurry from her left hand at the rogue guard, who countered with a blast from his Orange Lantern ring.
As the power struggle continued between the two, the duke crept up from behind her constructing a dagger and preparing to finish her off. Before he could strike however, a pink blast hit him, knocking him away from Elsa.
"What?! Who dares?!" the duke exclaimed.
"I dare," Anna said as she and Kristoff flew their way into the battle.
"What? Now your sister and that pathetic ice deliverer have powers, too?"
"We'll see who's pathetic," the Star Sapphire princess said. "You wanna dance, Duke of Weasel-Town? Let's dance." Anna said and constructed a broadsword.
"Weselton!" the duke said angrily and constructed a sword as well.
He and Anna flew at one another and clashed in a swordfight, whilst Kristoff lent a hand to Elsa against her opponent.
Eddie and the guard continued fighting against one another, the two men continued clashing swords with one another, and the two crossed swords, both trying to push each other back glaring daggers at the other.
Eddie then lowered his ring hand and constructed an extendo boxing glove, which he'd used to punch the guard away.
The guard recovered once more, and then constructed a battle axe, then flew at Eddie once more.
"Still want more, huh, mustache? All right." Eddie said then constructed a mace and continued his fight with the guard.
With Elsa and Kristoff, the guard they were fighting was flying all around them with two broadsword constructs, swinging them every which way, as Kristoff blocked his attacks best as he could with his staff, while Elsa did the same with a shield construct.
Kristoff successfully blocked another attack from him with his staff, then acted fast and kicked one of his swords from his hand, then whacked him across his face with his staff. Elsa took advantage of this and charged up her ring, then blasted him far back.
As soon as the guard recovered, he wiped some blood from his nose then glared angrily at the mountain man and the snow queen, who were both making their way towards him. He then constructed a double barrel flintlock rifle and aimed it right at Kristoff, then fired a shot.
"Look out!" Elsa exclaimed and pushed Kristoff out of the way with a giant hand construct.
Using his ring, the guard reloaded his gun and let loose another shot, this time towards Elsa, who'd seen at last second, but got grazed by the shot on the left side of her waist.
The guard smirked slightly as Elsa pressed a hand to her wound, wincing in pain.
Eddie had seen what happened as he crossed his weapon with his opponent.
"You dare?!" Eddie exclaimed and punched his opponent back. After doing so, he shot a lasso construct at him and reeled him back in. "All right, pal. Let's go for a little spin." He said and then started spinning him around in circles for a few moments, and then let him loose, sending him flying and crashing into his partner.
The two guards recovered and prepared to go on fighting, until they heard the sound of screaming and looked to see their boss whizzing through the air and crashed into them both.
"I got an idea how to get rid of these guys," Eddie spoke up as they regrouped.
"Tell us," Elsa said.
"What if we combined our rings' together for a powerful super blast to hit all three of them? And then I open a wormhole which they'll get blasted through."
"I like the way you think, Eddie," Anna said.
"Let's give it a try," Elsa responded and the four friends got side by side with each other and looked to the three human Orange Lanterns, who started making their way back towards them.
"Now!" Eddie exclaimed as they each fired a blast from their rings, which collided altogether and went right for the duke and his guards.
The duke saw their attack coming at them, and quickly constructed a wall in front of them, but was quickly destroyed when the blast hit. Their eyes widened as the blast hit the three, sending them flying up high, and then Eddie constructed a wormhole to send them elsewhere and the plan worked like a charm.
"Unbelievable," Anna said. "That greedy little weasel and his guards now have powers like we do. Leave it to them to ruin our first Christmas together."
"Yeah, but it's good to know that together the four of us can overcome any enemy we face," Elsa chimed in.
"Who knows. Soon it could be 6," Eddie said.
"Six?" Anna asked.
"That's right, I never told you, did I?"
"Told us what?" Kristoff asked.
"A couple days after the wedding, Tyler called me, and he said their first night of their honeymoon, Lisa had received a Star Sapphire ring."
"What?!" Elsa, Anna and Kristoff exclaimed.
"I meant to tell you about it sooner, but I'd been so busy with moving and all, that I guess I just kind of blanked out on it."
"Well, that's actually pretty amazing, if you ask me," Anna said. "Lisa must really be in love if she got a power ring like mine."
"And Tyler has great love and compassion in his heart for her. Of course, Iroque had already given him a ring when he stopped being a Red Lantern. Now it's just a matter of him deciding on whether to wear it or not," Kristoff said.
"Gotta say, a lot has really changed ever since Elsa and I first got our rings. We've made quite a few new friends; I've been on the verge of starting a whole new life, and I look forward to seeing what else is to come."
"You think we could get out of this weather?" Anna asked shivering a little. "The snow is coming down a lot harder now, and the winds aren't helping either."
"Good thinking. Come on. Let's head back to my place," Eddie said as they all descended to the ground.
On the ground, after changing back into their original clothing, they made their way back to Eddie's vehicle.
"You were right, Eddie. This was one of the best displays of Christmas lights I've ever seen," Elsa said.
"And there's plenty more around the rest of the world, too. If you'd like, I could take you to see some other places and show you more light displays. Plus, I'd really love to try ice-skating with you again. Before it got interrupted, I was having fun."
"And I'd love to teach you how to do more. After all, you were doing really well on your own."
"Well, then how about this weekend we go up to New York, and I'll take you to Rockefeller Center? I've heard it's a really good place for ice skating, and it's got the biggest Christmas tree in the state."
"I would like that very much," Elsa replied.
"It's settled, then," Eddie said as they all got into his SUV and drove off back to his place.
Ok that'll be it for this chapter. I wrote this chapter because the last couple of chapters took place during autumn, plus I'm in a Christmas in July mood. And also, how'd you like this chapter? Now the Duke is a Lantern, too. But I figured he's such a coward, so why not bring in someone brave enough to fight and make his guards Lanterns, too. Until next time please read, review and enjoy.
