Snow White was aware of Sonic watching over her shoulder as she entered the Chatroom. Seven other Magical Girls were in there too, making Snow White the eighth.
"Heh, looks like quite the party!" Sonic chuckled.
"Uh, hello there!" Snow White typed, her character bowing. "It's so nice to meet everyone!"
"Aw, chill out!" A witch-looking girl said "You don't gotta be so formal newbie!"
"She's right." Sonic muttered.
"Hi, I'm Nemurin!" A sleepy looking white haired girl said.
"You're so polite, you may call me Sister Nana." This one was from a girl who looked like a nun.
"Name's Weiss Winterprison." The cold girl with a scarf next to Sister Nana muttered.
"Hi, I'm La Pucelle!" A brown haired girl with horns stated, holding her hand out. "It's nice to meet you!"
"And I'm known as Cranberry, the musician of the forest." A blonde girl on the violin said, immediately giving Sonic some 'watch out for this chick' vibes.
"We actually had more girls in here just a little while ago." Sister Nana revealed. "But I'm afraid you joined the chat right as they were leaving."
"We were just talking about you, Snow White!" La Pucelle stated, causing Snow White and Sonic to just sort of look at each other in confusion.
"Yeah, you're practically famous..." Nemurin muttered.
"It's only been about a week since we were told there was going to be a new Magical Girl!" The witch chuckled. "And yet you've already got the top score for the week! You're making us look bad, kid!"
"Top score?" Sonic asked. "What's she mean by that?"
"There are score rankings." Cranberry said when Snow White repeated Sonic's question. "You can check them using your Magical Phone."
"I'm sure you're confused about a lot of things, so don't be afraid to ask the senior girls for help, okay?" Sister Nana explained.
"I'm the one who will be in charge of training you." La Pucelle revealed. "So please come to me with any questions. I'm really looking forward to working with you!"
"Thanks, looking forward to it as well!" Snow White responded. "Hey, Sonic? Do you know what time it is?"
Sonic hummed for a bit, before looking up towards the moon, then back at Snow White. "About 12:10."
"What!? It's already that late!?"
"Yeah."
"I have to go." Snow White typed into her phone. "Goodnight everyone!"
A chorus of responses before Snow White turned her Magical Phone off. "Everyone there seems really nice." She remarked. "But I wonder what the other girls are like."
"That one ninja didn't say anything." Sonic realized. But before Snow White could figure out a response, her phone went off again. "La Pucelle wants to meet you at the southern radio tower right now?"
"Apparently." Snow White replied. "I wonder what it's for..."
"I can get you there if you want me to." Sonic offered.
"No, it's okay. I can make it there myself."
"Alright, guess I'll be off. Maybe I'll get some chilidogs if I'm lucky. Later!"
And Sonic was off in a flash, leaving Snow White to make her way to the southern radio tower alone.
Sonic thought that the whole Magical Girl thing was kinda ridiculous. Sure, Snow White managed to push a truck into him and jump over buildings, but that could just as easily been him veering too much and hitting the truck and Snow White just being cool (shut up, it was a valid point).
So when two girls, the witch and the ninja, actually caught up to him (going at a leisurely jogging pace by his standards) he had to admit, maybe he was wrong.
"Hey, what's up?" Sonic asked. "Don't think I've seen ya around!"
"Well, whaddya know? There is something that can keep up with me and Rapid Swallow!"
"'Rapid Swallow?' That the broom?"
"Yep!" The witch replied.
"Heh, never thought I'd have any competition outside of Metal Sonic and Shadow!"
"Who and who?"
"Just some people I've met. Say, I never got your name."
"You can call me Top Speed!" The witch revealed. "And this is my partner, Ripple!" She said, referring to the ninja (who looked rather bored, despite going nearly 200 miles per hour).
"I'm Sonic the hedgehog! Fastest thing alive!"
"Oh yeah?" Top Speed asked. "Prove it!"
"Alright, you asked for it!" Sonic chuckled, closing his fists and effortlessly creating a sonic boom, blasting away from Top Speed and Ripple at the speed of sound. He'd thought he'd left the two in the dust before they showed up next to him despite now travelling Mach 1.
"A sonic boom? Child's play."
"I'm only getting warmed up." Sonic said, grinning. And then, to Top Speed's horror, he started going even faster. So fast even that when he passed a small checkpoint, the machine that recorded his speed simply fried.
Skidding to a stop (generating flames from the amount of friction created by the soles of his shoes on the pavement) and creating enough tailwind to knock anyone in an open three mile radius in Sonic's general direction off their feet, Sonic finally let Top Speed and Ripple catch up to him outside what looked like an abandoned house.
"Believe me now?" Sonic asked, tapping his foot with a smug grin.
"Point taken..." Top Speed sighed, before suddenly perking up. "Oh! We gotta go!"
"Seriously? Already?"
"It's not anything we have to do, it's just that the Magical Girl in charge of this territory can be a bit... moody, and we'd rather not be here when she comes back."
"Ah, that sucks." Sonic sighed. "Well, you clearly know how to find me. See ya later!" He said, waving as the two Magical Girls flew off into the night. Leaping onto the abandoned house's roof and pulling out one of his signature chilidogs (he'd taken one in between leaving Snow White and meeting Top Speed and Ripple), Sonic felt like maybe he'd stay just a little while longer, unaware of the hot-pink eyes watching him from a distance.
Watching through one of his many drones, Doctor Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik couldn't help but groan. He thought his latest plan would've gone off without a hitch. Siphon some energy, build a death machine, and launch it with Sonic being none the wiser. N-City was such a small place that it would likely fly right under the hedgehog's radar.
And yet, there the rodent was, lounging on a rooftop and eating a chilidog. Eggman seethed, knowing his nemesis was in the area, but he quickly recollected himself.
"Alright, Ivo... Think! How are you going to stop that blue rat from getting in the way...? You don't want him to know you're here... Perhaps it's best just to wait until he leaves. Yes, it's not like you have a deadline. Or maybe..."
Eggman grinned as a new thought came to his mind. Getting into his systems, he knew exactly what to do.
Every Magical Girl's Magical Phone suddenly went off at once with the same notice.
Sudden Event!
Objective: Stop the blue streak
Reward: 50,000,000 Candies
Deadline: N/A
"Fifty million?!" La Pucelle stammered, staring at the notification with Snow White. "Jeez, whoever's making these events must really want that thing gone. Especially if they're not giving us a deadline either."
She noticed the look on her partner's face. Was it concern? Or confusion?
'I hope he's okay...' Snow White thought, knowing full well what the blue streak was.
