Chapter Eight: Stealing the Spirit Stick
The next day and it was after school when Elizabeth had shown up and Michael, Maria, Sydney, Emma, Caleb and a few others were there. They were going to get back at Hearst by taking the one thing that they prized so much. Mia had given Sydney her old uniform so that Elizabeth could use it to sneak into the school. Mia had honestly admitted that Elizabeth was quite good and she was glad that she was on the team.
Caleb had said "Hey Elizabeth" to which Elizabeth replied "So we're doing this?" Michael nodded and said "Sydney's driving us". Peyton said "By the way, Mia gave us this so that you can blend in well if you have to go in there". Peyton gave the uniform to Elizabeth and she said "Alright that works". Elizabeth added "Imma go get changed in advance" which she had gone off to change a bit.
Caleb was leaning against his truck, which Peyton just asked "So what do you think so far?" which Caleb replied "Personally its suicide however I'm open for it". Peyton nodded before she said "Mia would enjoy embarrassing her brother". Michael added "Fucking Max, and then there's Kara his girlfriend". Caleb nodded, he said "Then there's Brian however I don't think he'll be much of an issue now".
Caleb then asked Emma "So what's the thing going with you" and Emma replied "Well my mother is over at Elizabeth's, the two are having dinner". Caleb nodded while Peyton said "Is there something going on?" and the two looked at each other. Caleb said "Elizabeth's father and Emma's mother have some history together". Emma added "Last night me and Elizabeth pretty much played matchmaker with our parents".
Peyton said "Oh that's cute, so Caleb what's the thing between you and Elizabeth still" which Caleb said "That, well uh" he didn't know what to say. However Elizabeth came back in the green uniform and she said "So how do I look". Caleb had looked at her and he went quiet before he said "I'll admit green is your color". Elizabeth chuckled a bit as she said "Thanks but it's the only time I'm wearing this uniform".
Caleb said "We'll just get you a green uniform for our school then" as he chuckled a bit while Peyton said "So how long have you two been dating". Elizabeth said "We're not dating" as she tried to deny the allegations. Caleb said "We're just friends" and Peyton nodded before she asked "So Caleb, who are you asking out to homecoming". Caleb said "I haven't decided really, I mean I have an idea on a person but".
Peyton asked "Is she in the group and is her hair blonde?" Elizabeth said "Hey now what is that supposed to mean?". Peyton replied "I don't know, I'm just asking really, besides the both of you would be cute together really". Caleb replied "Oh I am sure we would look cute together" which Peyton just said "Ah ha". Caleb only said "However we aren't dating" which Elizabeth nodded and she said "We're just friends".
Michael said "Yet friends hold hands while they're walking in the park together" which now both Elizabeth and Caleb were trying to figure out a response. However Sydney said "Who cares, can we get this over with" and Michael said "Right". And they had now gone to the school which now they had to figure out a way in. The front door, however they got word that students would use the side doors to get in.
Which they had done the same thing to do, and what happened is they would all head to the security office and it wasn't hard to find it really. They needed it to know where the stick was located, they spent a few minutes going through and they found it. Maria then said "Perfect that's where it is, I suppose we just split up now". Elizabeth said "Come on Caleb, we're doing this to get back at Brian and them".
Both Elizabeth and Caleb left now, however Michael said "More like seven minutes in heaven for them" which the group chuckled a bit. Elizabeth said "Caleb hides somewhere where I can find you if things go south" which Caleb nodded. Elizabeth had gone to the place so she could get the stick now, as she placed the code in. The thing unlocked which she had grabbed the stick however there was a voice.
Max, Mia's older brother had approached her, only for him to say "Hey there beautiful, quite the moment to see you here? You're new here". Elizabeth replied "Yes, my name is Carrie" as Max nodded "Stick duty I see, nice". Elizabeth nodded, she said "Just grabbing it, since the person im with requested it to be used for motivation". Max replied "Nice Nice, just remember to bring it back alright".
Brian came around as he said "Max what are you doing… why are you socializing with an Oliver Student" which Max said "She's an Oliver student". Max looked at Elizabeth which Elizabeth said "Guilty as charm" before she clocked him in the face. She ran off when Max held his nose only to find out that his nose was bleeding. Elizabeth seemed to get a head start while Zoe, Max and Brian went after her.
When Elizabeth thought she was clear, Caleb came up and grabbed her and Elizabeth was scared, Caleb said "Relax it's me". However they heard a commotion, and the two had gone and hid into a closet, when they were in there. Caleb had his arms around her waist, which Elizabeth said "Shush" while the two went quiet. As they heard the three talking about heading to the entrance to block it off.
However Elizabeth felt his hands begin to rub her body, Elizabeth whispered "Caleb, not now" however that didn't stop him and she felt his hands grasp her chest. Elizabeth had bit her lip and she felt him play with her. The two had heard them walk away now, to which Caleb said "We can go now" which Elizabeth replied "With Pleasure". The two had headed out but they couldn't leave through the front.
Caleb mentioned "Let's head up to the roof then" which the two had headed up to the roof now which they had a moment to breathe now. Caleb said "Now that we're up here" and Elizabeth said "What was that for? You almost got us caught". Caleb chuckled "I couldn't help I had a beautiful woman against me". Elizabeth said "Mnmm we're gonna have a talk when we get back to safety".
The two got back to solid ground safely, however Max and them said "Hey how did they get out and the three chased after them. However there was a car waiting for them and the two sped off, before they did. Elizabeth tapped the spirit stick onto the ground and Max said "Noo do you guys not realize what you have done". Caleb laughed at this which the car had driven off now as they were cheering their accomplishment.
Michael only said "Point one for Berry High" however Elizabeth was concerned now and Michael asked "What happened there?". Elizabeth said "I had to punch Max in the face so that I could get away" Michael said "I'll take the blame". Michael added "Besides they'll believe me more than they would believe them". Elizabeth only said "You will do that?" which Michael replied "Of course, besides fucker deserved it".
Elizabeth had rested her head on Caleb's shoulder which Michael only asked "So are you guys gonna come out now?" and Elizabeth said "We aren't dating". Michael then said "So Caleb you asked the person out to homecoming yet?". Caleb only said "Why do you ask?" Michael said "Just curious" and Caleb replied "No I haven't". Michael only said "Well I think you really should do it honestly… Maria I got a question".
Maria said "What is it?" Michael asked "Will you go to homecoming with me" and Maria replied "Of course I will" and Peyton said "Congrats you two". Although, it left Emma, Peyton and Sydney who were out of a date. However Sydney wanted to ask Mia out, while Peyton didn't know who she wanted and Emma, well she's waiting really. Elizabeth seemed to be resting her head against his shoulder since she was tired.
Peyton said "You two are so adorable together" and Elizabeth chuckled a bit as she said "Still better than Zoe in the long run" Caleb replied "Agree". Elizabeth only said "I wonder if she's starting to make a mistake by dating Brian". Caleb added "I don't know really but it doesn't really matter she'll understand it though the hard way". Elizabeth nodded in agreement before she said "imma love next summer".
Caleb asked "What's going on next summer?" Elizabeth said "Me and my father are going on a cruise" which Caleb replied "Sounds like fun, I would join if I could". Elizabeth had asked "Why can't you? And Caleb replied "Next year my brother's leaving". Ezra only added "I'm going to some university for music". Ezra only said "And me and him are wanting to hit the Appalachian trail before I leave".
When they got back, Mia was awaiting their return since she couldn't really go anywhere really and all she said was "Took you long enough". Although when Elizabeth got out, she almost dropped the stick and she caught it in time. Caleb said "Phew close call really" and Elizabeth nodded before she said "We got the stick". Michael only said "But Max is gonna kill Elizabeth the next time he sees her".
Mia asked "What did you do" and Elizabeth said "I punched him in the face" which Mia just began to laugh and she said "Kill her? Like hell he is". She added "Just like Brian, Max deserves the punch in the face really". Michael said "Yea I told Elizabeth, that if the school decides to do anything against her, I'll take the blame". Maria then said "Well I hate to say this but we should get a photo to achieve our victory".
Maria asked if Mia could take the photo which Mia was fine doing honestly, besides she got to sign it in the end really, in the end photo Caleb had his arm around Elizabeth. Mia only said "I don't know what it is called Romance but this photo surely shows it". Michael had looked at the photo and he said "Yeah, agreeable". It seemed like they were shipping over the fact that Elizabeth and Caleb go well in a photo.
However Caleb said "It's getting late and we should really get home" which they gave the stick to Elizabeth which Mia said "Protect this with all of your life". Elizabeth said "I will" and Mia said "And you can keep the uniform, it looks better on you than me". Caleb only said "Come one I'll give you a ride home" and Caleb went to his truck now. Elizabeth had followed him while they watched the two depart now.
However on the way back and Caleb had now stopped on the side of the road, he just said "Elizabeth, will you go to homecoming with me". Elizabeth replied "Of course I will" and she gave Caleb a hug now before they went back on the road. Another setting sun has defined another day in their life, however only who knows what will happen with the fact that Hearst had lost their prized stick.
Maybe the homecoming game will not be so-bad after all now, but they can't keep their hopes up at all because the final few days will be a determination to all.
