Neville was making his way though the country side, the goods train had become almost empty with the last tracks rattling behind him as he moved along the line. Up ahead came the next station down the main line, and it was coming up fast, speeding though he soon slowed down coming to a stop slightly past the the station. He then backed in to the yard where the trucks where all uncoupled.
Looking around Neville caught the stations name "Killdane." he read. "if the train stops here, were do we go next?"
"Lest talk to the station master." said his crew.
As they departed, Neville was left in the yard looking out at the station, left to take in his new surroundings, when a whistle sounded and another engine came in to the yard, with a set of coal trucks.
"Oh hello." said the new engine.
"Hello there." smiled Neville.
Both didn't know what to say for a short wile, and both seemed to find it awkward, with the other not talking..
"I'm sorry, my names is Molly." she said braking the ice.
"I love your yellow paint work." he smiled.
"Thank you, it was given to me to help me feel better after I arrived."
"Well I've always been black."
"I like your design, it's very different."
"Thank you."
The two smiled at each other for a long time before a new whistle sounded another engine arrived at the station, this time with coaches. His red paint stood out, and both saw him pull in.
"Who's that?" asked Neville quietly.
"High James." called Molly.
"There you are Molly, I didn't see where you went after you left for coaling plant this morning."
"Well I was busy, I have."
"That's great to here." Ignored James, as he smiled as the passengers who stopped to admire his paint.
Molly fell quite, as she was dismissed.
"I'll see you later, I'm still looking forward to our date tonight." Continued James, still ignoring Molly.
"Me to." smiled Molly, feebly.
Neville seemed put off and looked away and Molly caught on.
"Oh James, this I the new engine." she said.
"That's great." said James not paying attention.
Molly seemed of put.
"Oh look at the time." he said "I've got to go. Splendid engines like our selves, cant be late."
Molly smiled at him but he just pulled away leaving her behind.
"I'm sorry about him, he can be a little vain."
"Oh it's okay, I've met worse."
"We stated seeing each other after, after he helped me with my trains when I was nervous about tacking them at first. As they where empty."
"I think I should be going." said Neville.
"Oh, okay then I'll better be getting on with my coal deliveries."
Molly carried on with her work as she shunted the trucks wile Neville was stuck waiting for his crew to come back.
Neville was left in the sidings, and as soon as his crew arrived they climbed aboard he was ready to go.
"Were taking a goods train up this branch we'll be taking it all the way to Iron Works." they said.
"Good, I could use a reason to leave." sighed Neville.
Wile Molly finished up her work Neville collected his trucks and left up the line, she watched him leave.
The Iron Works was at the far end of the Killdane Branch line and was cut in to two parts, the large yard and shunting area where the trucks where arranged, and the large factory where the metal was melted down. As Neville arrived his long train of tankers and trucks was brought of the main line and in to the yard. Coming to a halt he was soon greeted by the arrival or short fat man in top hat, Neville's crew climbed down to meet him.
"Hello Sir Topham." they said shaking his hand "We brought the engine over for you."
"Good work gentlemen, you can catch a ride back down on the passenger service I'll drop you at the station and you can take the train back to Burrow."
The crew smiled and left to rest on some scrap that was strewn over the yard.
"And you must be Neville." he smiled making his way to him.
"Um yes, Sir." Neville replied.
"You're a good strong engine just what we need for the branch." he beamed "Your main roll is to manage the goods, that includes the oil refinery and the Arlesdale ballast, granite and gravel company along with the Iron works here."
"Thank you sir."
"You new crew will arrive shortly, and then you can get to work, and meet some of our newer residents."
"Newer sir?"
"As part of the Pilot program the Iron work's company scrapped their old shunter's and replaced them with some new diesels."
Neville felt nervous at the word.
"I hope to keep you on as permanent member of our team."
"Uh, thank you sir."
Smiling Sir Topham Hat left and got in his car as he drove away, Neville sat and waited for his new crew to arrive.
Two diesels sat lingering in the distance watching from afar, leaving with their goods they pulled in to the yard and saw the new engine.
"What do we have here Arry?" asked one.
"I don't know Bert." replied the other.
"Oh, hello." panicked Neville.
"You look like diesel." said Bert eyeing him up.
"But you also look like a steamy." added Arry, looking him over.
The two started laughing and Neville becoming worried and a little scared he let out some nervous laughter.
"So what are you?" they asked.
"Me, oh I'm Neville."
The two carried on laughing. "This is going to be fun." they sniggered.
Coming up the line Murdoch was pulling in with a heavy goods and spotted to two diesels laughing with Neville.
"That must be the new engine." he thought "But what is he doing laughing with those two.
