Chapter Twelve:

After the minor revelation that something was off about Hermione's hex nut necklace, the two Devils' routine didn't really change much outside of keeping an eye on the bushy haired witch from a distance. It wasn't until around Halloween that the hex nut completely revealed its secret to not only its owner but also the two Devils.

Enuma and Shalltear had just finished a (in the Vampire's opinion at least) rather boring lesson when they heard Ronald Weasley, who had been sorted into the same house as Hermione, Gryffindor, openly insult the bushy haired witch, stating that she was bossy and had no friends. While the Vampire wasn't as close to the girl the male redhead had just insulted as her King, it took said King's orders to not hurt her fellow redhead to stop the Bloody Valkyrie from actually killing the Gryffindor and simply settling on bumping into his shoulder in retaliation for the insult to her King's friend. And considering the Vampire's supernatural strength, not only because of her vampiric heritage but also the Queen-piece, the bump left quite the bruise on Weasley's shoulder. The same order also prompted the Vampire to set her own Familiar, a bat-like creature known as an Echo-bat (which might have been the source of inspiration for the Pokémon known as Noibat), loose in the castle and have it keep an eye (and ear) on Hermione. Shalltear named her Echo-bat Pip due to the squeaky noises he makes.

When Hermione didn't show up for dinner, Enuma couldn't help but worry for her friend and feel angry at her fellow redhead who had insulted said friend. While having Shalltear remind her that her Queen had Pip keeping an eye on Hermione did help Enuma calm down a little, that little calmness went straight to hell when the year's Defense Against the Dark Arts-teacher, a Professor Quirrel, showed up and announced that there was a Troll in the dungeons before (quite pathetically) fainting. Sharing a quick and determined look, Enuma and Shalltear silently decided that they wouldn't follow the headmaster's orders and retreat to the Hufflepuff Common Room. They would find Hermione first and escort her to their Common Room for the time being, or fight the Troll if necessary (not that Shalltear would complain if they did get into a fight, since she's been itching for one for years).

Elsewhere in the castle, one of the stools in the girls bathroom to be specific, a certain bushy haired girl stopped crying and was brought out of her negative thoughts by a rapid series of high pitched squeaking noises. Hesitantly looking up, she was greeted by the sight of a rather large and cute bat-like creature that was clearly trying to get her attention, keeping itself around the same height as her face by flapping its wings in a steady rhythm. While she was quite sure that she hadn't seen it before, Hermione definitely had her suspicions that the bat-like creature was probably someone's pet.

"Hi there little fella, what are you doing here?" Asked Hermione, mostly just to herself to brighten her mood, as she gave the bat-like creature a gentle pat on the head, earning a rather pleased-sounding squeak from it. "Oh? You liked that didn't you?" Before Hermione could continue petting the bat-like creature, a sudden groan from above cut her off and prompted her to hesitantly look up where she was greeted by a very ugly mug. A few seconds passed by before the bushy haired girl suddenly heard the voice of one of her few friends, even if it sounded older for some reason, but there was no mistaking the voice for anyone else but Shalltear Bloodfallen.

"My my. What do we have here? One really ugly motherfucker intending to kill my King's friend and probably have my precious little Pip for dinner? Now that simply won't do. Prepare to die." Stated the suspiciously older sounding Shalltear, before doing something that pushed the massive Troll away from the stool where Hermione was hiding and into the wall. Accidentally destroying the other stools and giving the bushy haired girl a clear view of the red eyed girl looking like a teenager clad in a crimson suit of armor instead of an eleven year old suspended in the air by a pair of bat-like wings. The red clad girl's current pose made it clear what she had done to send the massive Troll crashing into the wall. Kicking it really hard, a feat that undoubtedly required strength far beyond what a human could ever accomplish.

"Sorry for being late. Allow me to assist. Shalltear! Mind your surroundings!" Shouted the sudden voice of Enuma Gremory.

"Understood!"

"Gate of Babylon… open." Intoned Enuma as over a dozen golden ripples formed in the air. Each and every one of them having some kind of weapon of the absolute finest craftsmanship poking out of it, before being launched with trails of every color of the rainbow at the Troll with incredible speeds, all of them striking true. "Tsk. This is taking too long and making too much of a ruckus. Time to finish this. Shalltear!"

"Got it!" Exclaimed Shalltear quickly as she moved out of the way for whatever Enuma was planning.

"Ensnare them… Enkidu!" Intoned Enuma as lengths of chain shot out of a new set of golden ripples, trapping the Troll in place. Enuma couldn't stop herself from smiling as she grabbed a hold of the shaft of a crimson spear that had just popped out of a new golden ripple. "Time to end this. Gáe… BOLG!"
