Hermione Granger couldn't help but feel disappointed with herself. The few friends she had were risking their lives fighting the Troll, and all she could do was watch. She wanted to help them in any way possible, but she couldn't. She would just get in their way. In the midst of her thoughts of self loathing, she didn't immediately notice that the flow of time seemed to slow down to a crawl around her until a sudden voice that she knew she hadn't heard before, but for some reason couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity with, spoke out to her.
"You want to help them, don't you?" Asked the voice that definitely belonged to a woman, with a distinct German accent.
"Yes. I want to, but can't." Replied Hermione in a slightly depressed tone while rapidly trying to find the source of the voice.
"Now what decided that, fräulein?"
"What?" Asked Hermione as a young woman in her late teens (or early twenties) wearing a white naval uniform slowly seemed to materialize in front of the bushy haired girl. The woman had short white hair, pale skin and pale blue eyes. She also wore a white naval cap on her head.
"I can grant you the firepower that was once my own, fräulein. The firepower auf das Biest."
"Das Biest? Who are you?"
"The people called me die einsame Königin of the North while my enemies called me das Biest."
"That might sound impressive, but you haven't actually answered my question."
"Verdammt. I thought my identity was obvious. I'm the spirit of the Bismarck-class warship known as Tirpitz. More specifically, the spirit of the hex nut that has been in your family for generations."
"What!? How!?"
"Now that, fräulein, is simple. Magie."
"Of course. Now what was that about you granting me your old firepower?"
"In essence, you'd become one with the Tirpitz."
"What?"
"I don't really understand the mechanics either but that's the best way I can put it."
"Okay then. Anything else I should know?"
"Not that I can think of. So what do you say? Will you take the power of the Tirpitz?"
"Yes."
"Alright then, fäulein. I won't lie, this will hurt." Stated the spirit of the Tirpitz as she grabbed Hermione's hex nut necklace and literally shoved it into the bushy haired girl's chest. And then, all Hermione could feel was pain as a blindingly bright azure light enveloped her, diverting the attention of everyone else in the room towards her, which accidentally caused Enuma's attack with the legendary crimson spear, Gáe Bolg (technically its prototype, but that wasn't really important), to miss.
"Okay? What in the seven hells just happened?" Asked Shalltear to no one in particular as the Vampire blinked repeatedly in order to get her sight back.
"No idea, Shalltear. But is it just me or do you smell saltwater?" Wondered Enuma as she tried to get her sight back by blinking rapidly.
"Guten Abend, Mr Troll. Ever been on the receiving end of a naval cannon armed with high-explosive shells? Well you're about to be. Firing main cannon Bruno." Exclaimed the voice that the two Devils recognized as the voice of Hermione Granger, albeit with a slight accent that wasn't there before. Just about everyone seemed to pause for a second or so until the thunder of a naval cannon rang out and a high-explosive shell impacted with the Troll, reducing it to nothing more than a crimson mess and producing a very thick cloud of smoke. "Huh? That was a lot louder than I thought it'd be. Verdammt."
"Hermione?" Asked Enuma hesitantly as the redhead spotted a silhouette stepping through the smoke. The silhouette was mostly one that Enuma recognized as her bushy haired friend, but with a few new additions, mainly four large things that appeared to be attached to the sides of Hermione's waist. The silhouette also hinted that she wasn't wearing the school robes anymore and was instead sporting a tighter outfit that showed her well-developed for her age.
Finally stepping through the veil of smoke, Hermione was revealed to be wearing what looked like a white naval uniform. Attached to the sides of her waist was a total of four metallic beasts, each one shaped like the ends of a warship and all of them donning a naval cannon. Covering most of her legs were a pair of thigh-high platform-boots that had a round grid in the front of them and heels that were suspiciously shaped like a rudder, even down to the color red. While it couldn't be seen from the front, there was a spool of a very long chain that had an anchor about the size of a grappling hook attached to the end of the chain. The spool itself was attached to a belt that was partially hidden by the naval uniform's jacket, slightly off from the center to the right, the anchor ending up resting against Hermione's right buttcheek and lightly bouncing against it whenever the bushy haired girl moved as a result. Something that could be seen from the front despite being attached to the middle of Hermione's back was a tower of sorts with various antennas and early radar dishes attached to it. The ship's command bridge. While it wasn't really clear what it did for the bushy haired girl, it was most likely something beneficial. But the most glaring change that the mysterious transformation caused to Hermione was her eyes. Instead of a normal round pair of brown eyes, there was a pair of brown eyes with hexagonal irises and round pupils.
"Hi Enuma. It's me." Stated Hermione as reassuring as she could manage, despite actually feeling like her entire body was on fire with pain and feeling like she was getting weaker by the second.
"You look-"
"I look what?"
"I was about to say different."
"I suppose that different is one way to put it." Replied the bushy haired girl calmly, before suddenly clutching her chest and coughing up some blood as the mechanical additions to her body vanished from existence. "What the!?"
"Hermione!" Shouted Enuma as she rushed over and caught her friend in her arms, who only coughed up more blood. "Damn it! Hermione, listen. You're currently dying and don't seem to have much time left. I know a way to save you but-"
"Just do it already, idiot. You can explain later. Right now I feel like I'm gonna pass out." And with that, consciousness slipped away from Hermione and all she could see became darkness.
