Hova lead Tiffany up to the main entrance of the ant hill. On the way up there Tiffany saw a piece of a mirror and got a good look at her reflection. Tiffany's hair was a crazy wild mess that stuck up and pointed different ways, most likely due to all the crazy falling and the bed head. Tiffany's outfit made her look like a weird wild child you would encounter in a jungle with her short pants, exposed midriff, and top.
They reached the top and were outside. Tiffany was amazed out how different the yard looked from her new perspective. Everything was massive and the grass looked like a tall lush forest. Hova lead Tiffany to another part of the yard to a little area where a group of young ants were gathered with an older one. The young ants appeared to be children about Tiffany's size and some of them had blue dye on their bodies, while the others had red dye on their bodies.
"Hello Kreela. I have a new student for your foraging class." Said Hova to the older ant.
Kreela frowned as she saw Tiffany.
"Tiffany the Destroyer?! She flooded my nest! I lost everything because of her!" Said Kreela.
"And I'm so sorry for that! Look if you help me out, I will be very grateful and I will repay you." Said Tiffany as she put her hands together and bowed her head.
"Fine. I'll help you. You will be joining the blue team for our little exercise." Said Kreela as she went over to a small bowl with blue dye and handed it to Tiffany.
Tiffany put a finger in the dye and then she drew a blue line over both her cheeks, before she ran the finger through her hair giving herself a blue streak. Kreela took the bowl from Tiffany and directed everyone's attention to what appeared to be a obstacle course.
"Alright listen up. Like everything in the colony, foraging is a team effort. In this test, each team must act as a single unit to avoid obstacles, retrieve the sweet rock, and return to the nest. No one gets left behind. First team to make it back wins. Any questions?" Said Kreela.
"I got a question." Said a new ant striding up to the group.
"Fugax." Said Kreela with an annoyed look in her eyes.
"Isn't it true that scout ants, such as yours truly go on exciting and dangerous adventures, while foragers, such as yourself just walk around picking up sticks?" Asked Fugax with a confident smirk.
"Fugax." Said Kreela.
"What kind of adventures?" Asked a red team ant.
"Glad you asked. I have traveled to the great flat rock, where the humans travel in their giant metal cocoons." Said Fugax with a dramatic look in his eyes as he waved his hands.
"Yeah that flat rock is called a street and those cocoons are called cars. Both are used for travel." Said Tiffany getting a bit bored and annoyed by Fugax.
"Oh we have someone who thinks they're an expert? Who are you anyway?" Said Fugax eyeing Tiffany.
Tiffany blinked her eyes in confusion at this. Surly Fugax had heard about Tiffany and her punishment and he should realize she was a shrunken human and not a ant. If not Fugax clearly wasn't very bright.
"Fugax. This is Tiffany. You might know her better as the Destroyer." Said Hova.
"Destroyer?" Asked Fugax eyeing Tiffany curiously.
"Boo." Said Tiffany casually.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaa!" Cried Fugax as he leaped back in fright.
Tiffany and Kreela smirked at this reaction and some of the young ants snickered.
"Alright teams lets get started." Said Kreela.
The red team and the blue team were directed to the makeshift starting line of the course. Both teams prepared for the event.
"Alright Tiffany you just have to be a team player and help the blue team win this game. Then you'll be one step closer to returning to your normal size and going back home." Tiffany mentally told herself.
"Begin!" Said Kreela.
The teams took off running and soon came across their first obstacle. A large crack in the ground that stretched a few millimeters.
"How do we get by this?" Asked Tiffany.
"We form a bridge." Said one of her teammates.
"And since you're new to all this, we will let you climb across us." Said another blue team ant.
"Alright if you're with that." Said Tiffany as the blue team ants stacked on top of each other forming a tower.
The tower fell forward and reached the other side of the crack. Tiffany took a deep breath as she got on all fours and scurry across the bridge, being careful not to step hard on any of the blue team's heads. She reached the other side and got onto solid ground. The blue team bridge collapsed into the crack and swung forward allowing the ants to make contact with the wall and quickly climb up to the top. Tiffany and the rest of blue team took off after the red team, who had a slight lead.
The next obstacle was a series of sticks sticking out of some water. The red team had formed a tower and were using their combined height to stretch out to one stick to the other going upside down in the process. The blue team formed their own tower and began to follow after the red. Tiffany was near the center of the blue tower and she was doing her best to hold on, but she was finding it rather difficult with all the stretching and going upside down. She did alright at first, but then she began to lose her grip.
"I'm losing my grrrriiiiipppp!" Yelled Tiffany before she lost her grip and was slingshot through the air.
Tiffany screamed as she flew past the red team and landed on the ground way ahead of them. The tiny human groaned as she got to her feet and looked back at the teams.
"I'm ok!" Said Tiffany.
Tiffany's slingshot move gave the rest of the blue team the idea to do the same thing. The blue team slingshot themselves past the red team and landed on the ground near Tiffany giving themselves a big lead over the red team.
"Nice move Tiffany." Said a member of blue team.
"Thanks." Said Tiffany feeling pleased with herself as the team moved on towards the prize and final obstacle.
"There's the sweet rocks." Said one blue team ant.
"Jellybeans?" Asked Tiffany.
The sweet rocks were some jellybeans that had been smashed up to form smaller pieces to be carried. The members of blue team each grabbed a chunk of jellybeans and headed to the final obstacle. A steep wall. Tiffany realized she was at a huge disadvantage and quickly alerted the rest of her team.
"Guys, I can't climb that wall. Humans don't stick to flat surfaces like that." Said Tiffany.
"Alright we'll get our sweet rocks up first, then we'll come get you and your sweet rock." Said one blue team ant.
The blue team quickly climbed up the wall with their sweet rocks and then three of them came back to collect Tiffany and her sweet rock. Two of the ants grabbed Tiffany and one grabbed her sweet rock and they carried them all to the gym top as the red team arrived on the scene. The blue team grabbed their sweet rocks and made it to the finish line.
"Blue Team wins!" Cheered Kreela.
"Good job Tiffany!" Cheered Hova.
The blue team cheered and began to congratulate each other and for the first time Tiffany felt happy since her shrinking. Tiffany had made her first steps in the colony and she was closer to her freedom and her return home.
To be continued.
