After helping blue team win the game Tiffany decided to take a little stroll around the area and take in the sights accompanied by Hova. Tiffany was amazed out how different the yard looked at her new shrunken size. The grass toward over Tiffany like a forest yet every blade of grass was different in one way or another. It was both strange and beautiful.
Tiffany was feeling both happy and confident with her victory in the game and she believed she making her way back to returning to her normal size and her home. The blue team seemed to like Tiffany and both Kreela and Hova were proud of her.
"I totally won big with that game! I'm sure the Queen and council will be very pleased by it." Said Tiffany as she walked towards a clearing with shards of broken glass scattered around and sticking out of the ground.
The sun was shining through the shards of glass creating beams of focused light and heat. Anything that passed through any of these beams would get burned. Tiffany almost walked through one of these not knowing about the danger and curious about what would happen, but Hova quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her away to safety.
"Careful! That will burn you!" Warned Hova.
"Thanks." Said Tiffany.
"Now you did do good today Tiffany and I'm glad you understand teamwork. You helped the blue team win and it looked like you had some fun, but don't get ahead of yourself. You still have a ways to go before you find your proper place in the colony, but you are making progress." Said Hova.
"You sound a little like my mom." Said Tiffany with a bit of teasing.
Hova was about to respond, when her antenna picked up a faint buzzing sound in the air that made her freeze. It was a sound Hova was very familiar with and she knew danger was coming.
"Um...hello? Hova?" Asked Tiffany as she waved her hand in front of Hova's face.
"We need to run and get underground fast!" Said Hova as she quickly grabbed Tiffany's hand and took off running.
Tiffany was a bit confused by Hova's behavior and almost fell to the ground while being pulled, but she managed to catch herself and keep up with the ant as she heard a loud buzzing sound coming from above. She glanced upwards and saw several large shadows flying through the air above towards the area around the ant hill. At first Tiffany thought it was a group of bees, but as the shapes got closer Tiffany realized that the flying insects were actually wasps and they were on the attack!
The wasps flew onto the scene and began to snatch up some caterpillars that were grazing in the area and a few unlucky ants as well. Many ants screamed and ran into the ant hill or into the grass, while other ants went on the offense by throwing rocks and shooting silk at the wasps. Zoc was among the fighters firing blasts from his staff at the wasps. It was total chaos!
Hova and Tiffany were trying to make their way to the ant hill, when a wasp landed in front of them.
"You look tasty!" Said the wasp eyeing a terrified Tiffany.
"Over here ugly!" Yelled Hova as she waved her arms at the wasp getting it to focus on her and away from Tiffany.
Tiffany was amazed by Hova's bravery, she really did care about Tiffany and her safety!
"Tiffany run!" Yelled Hova as she kept the wasp distracted.
Tiffany looked at the fighting surrounding the ant hill and realized it was too dangerous to run there, so she raced into the grass. Zoc saw this and scowled as he zapped a wasp.
"Cowardly human!" Grumbled Zoc.
Tiffany ran through the grass feeling bad about leaving Hova. She knew Hova had told her to run and she lacked any ant abilities or any forms of weapons to do anything against the wasp, but she still felt bad about running away. After a few seconds of running Tiffany stopped to catch her breath, when she thought she heard some rustling coming from the grass. Tiffany tensed up as the rustling came closer and then she found herself face-to-face with one of her blue teammates. Both human and ant looked at each other with both surprise and relief.
"Tiffany." Said the ant.
"Hey...you. Sorry never got your name." Said Tiffany.
"It's Rokai." Said the ant.
There was a much louder rustling sound from the grass that caused Tiffany and Rokai to huddle together. The rustling grew louder and closer, which made Tiffany and Rokai take off running. The two ran like crazy, until they crashed into a large object. At first Tiffany thought the object was a rock, but then she saw it was a firecracker that Steve had thrown into the yard not too long ago. The sight of the firecracker gave Tiffany a crazy idea of how to fight the wasps.
"Rokai, I have an idea how to fight the wasps and I'm going to need your help." Said Tiffany.
"Ok. I'm in." Said Rokai.
The two of them quickly located some shards of glass and Tiffany instructed Rokai on how to get sun beams to go through the glass to create beams of heat and had him stand near the fuse of the firecracker to light it with the heat beam created by the glass. Tiffany crawled onto the top of the firecracker to be a lookout for wasps and if one did show up, Tiffany would do her best to keep it distracted from Rokai.
At the ant hill, Hova was still dealing with one wasp, when Zoc tried to come to her aid.
"No! I got this! Go save Tiffany!" Called Hova as she dodged around the wasp.
Zoc was unhappy about going to rescue the human, but knew Hova would be mad at him if he didn't, so he ran into the grass after Tiffany.
Tiffany stood on the firecracker watching for wasps as Rokai continued to try and light the fuse. The grass nearby rustled as a wasp emerged. Tiffany saw it and went to work getting it's attention.
"I'm up here you stupid wasp!" Yelled Tiffany.
The wasp flew up and hovered above Tiffany and the firecracker and began to jab at Tiffany with it's stinger. Tiffany fell onto her back and began to back away from the wasp as Rokai finally lit the fuse. The wasp stabbed down at Tiffany, who twisted out of the way and the stinger ended up imbedded in the firecracker! Tiffany quickly rolled away and jumped off the firecracker as the wasp tried to pull it's stinger out, but couldn't.
"RUN!" Yelled Tiffany to Rokai.
The two of them took off running and ran right by Zoc as he arrived on the scene and saw the wasp and the firecracker.
"Oh..." Said Zoc right before the firecracker exploded.
The explosion was tiny by human standards, but loud by insects and tiny human standards and got the wasps attention.
"What was that?!" Yelled one wasp.
"Don't know, but I don't want to find out! Retreat!" Yelled another wasp.
The wasps flew away from the ant hill as the ants looked on in wonder. The ants were curious about what made the explosion, so they headed in the direction it had come from and came across a tiny crater with Tiffany and Rokai standing by it watching the wasps fly.
"Tiffany the Destroyer saved us! All hail the savior!" Yelled Fugax as he and a couple other ants ran up to Tiffany and began to bow to her.
Tiffany was very surprised by this reaction and a little uncomfortable by it.
"Hey there's no need to bow to me!" Said Tiffany.
"Stop bowing to the human! She wasn't trying to save us! She was only trying to save herself!" Yelled a slightly scorched and blackened Zoc as he crawled out of the crater and glared at Tiffany.
Tiffany was a bit unnerved by the glare, but she was ready to defend herself, when Rokai beat her to it.
"That's not true! Tiffany and I were both running away from a wasp, when we came across a human item. She came up with a plan to use it and she used herself as bait to distract the wasp, while I got the human object to work. Tiffany was brave and her plan saved us." Said Rokai.
"Well the human abandoned Hova! I saw her run and abandon her!" Said Zoc.
"Tiffany only ran because I told her to. I knew couldn't fight a wasp, so I told her to flee." Said Hova as she walked onto the scene and stood by Tiffany.
"I can't believe this! You're treating that human that caused us so much trouble, like a hero!" Yelled Zoc.
"Well Tiffany was only a child, but once she learned the error of her ways, she's been working to change and make amends." Said Hova.
Zoc tightly gripped his staff, gave Tiffany a final glare, and then began to hobble back to the ant hill.
"Should I apologize to him?" Asked Tiffany.
"No. Just give him a bit of space to calm down." Said Hova.
The gathered ants thanked Tiffany and Rokai for what they did and then everyone went back to their business as the sun began to set.
To be continued.
