Tiffany's Tiny Adventure
Chapter 17 Frog

Hova, Kreela, and Fugax walked through the grass calling for Tiffany. They figured Tiffany would try to go back to her house, so they headed in that general direction looking for Tiffany and keeping an eye out for any spiders, frogs, or any threats that lurked in the yard and liked to come out at night.
"I still can't believe Zoc just went and did that to Tiffany after everything she did for us! That guy has issues!" Said Kreela.
"Totally. You don't think, he would try to kill Tiffany or destroy the potion she needs to return to her normal size and home do you? I mean he just scared the kid into running out at night, with who knows what is lurking out there." Said Fugax.
"If he does, I'm ending our relationship with him! I might end it once we find Tiffany and return to the hill." Said Hiva with a scowl.
"If you want to put a bit of hurt on Zoc, count me in." Said Kreela.
"I wouldn't want to be him." Said Fugax.
The ants continued their search.
In another part of the yard, Tiffany had stopped running and was trying to get her bearings and figure out her next move. Tiffany looked upwards and managed to locate her house and started to head in it's direction. The little girl took a few deep breaths as she tried to calm herself and keep an eye out for Zoc. Tiffany knew Zoc hated her and wasn't sure what he would do to her if their paths ever crossed again. Zoc was a wizard, so he could numerous things to Tiffany for all she knew. He could turn Tiffany to dust with a blast of his staff, melt her, turn her into a plant to be fed to caterpillars, or simply shrink her down some more to stomp her to death! Tiffany just shuddered at those thoughts. She needed to think of something else.
Tiffany began to think of her next move. She needed to either get into the house or somehow get the attention of Grandma again. The steps would be nearly impossible to scale without any help, maybe Tiffany could find some other bugs to assist her if she promised food. Now how to signal Grandma? Tiffany guessed she could find a piece of glass and use it to bounce off some light to get Grandma's attention.
Then what?
How was Tiffany going to explain her new size to her parents? Tiffany may not have liked Zoc, but she didn't want to get the other ants in trouble. Could her parents help Tiffany return to her normal size or would she be stuck at bug size for the rest of her life? Surly there was a real human wizard out in the world or a scientist working for the government that could return Tiffany to normal size. Tiffany then began to imagine herself being experimented on and gave another little shudder, before she tried to think of something positive. She supposed her tiny size could make her famous, books deals, movie deals, toys of herself, and interviews all sounded nice.
Tiffany came across a puddle and decided to rest and get a drink. She reached the edge, got on her knees, and got a handful of water to drink as she looked at her reflection. Tiffany looked more like a wild child with her crazy spiky hair with blue streaks, her ant exoskeleton chest plate, and leaf pants. She was actually getting used to the look and the feel of her makeshift outfit. Almost forgot what clothes felt like before being shrunk.
A happy looking beetle came up next to Tiffany a few inches away. The beetle glanced curiously at Tiffany before speaking.
"Ok if I have a drink?" Asked the beetle.
"Sure help yourself. Plenty of water here." Said Tiffany.
"Thanks! You know I love water, but I'm not a water beetle. Funny right?" Said the beetle.
"I guess so." Said Tiffany trying to be polite as she looked away.
Then there was a couple of odd sounds.
TWANG!
GULP!
Tiffany turned to see that the beetle was gone. A nervous and confused feeling went through Tiffany as she turned to the pond and saw something big and green floating on the surface. The thing rose up to reveal itself to be a large fat frog. A feeling of utter terror went through Tiffany as the frog opened it's mouth and shot out it's tongue.
TWANG!
Tiffany just barely managed to avoid the lethal tongue and took off running. The frog jumped out of the pond and chased after Tiffany shooting it's tongue at the fleeing prey and just barely missing her. Tiffany ran for all she was worth screaming wwwaaaa as loud as she could. She was so focused on running, she didn't realize she ran right by Hova, Fugax, and Kreela who were looking for her.
"Anyone know what wwwaaaa means?" Asked Fugax.
The fog landed behind Fugax making him turn around.
"Oh never mind. I think I know. Wwwaaaa!" Said Fugax as he and the others began to run.
The three ants ran and caught up with Tiffany, as they barely avoided the frog's tongue. Hova ran alongside Tiffany, who looked at her with surprise.
"You came for me?" She asked.
"Of course I came for you." Said Hova.
"But Zoc told me to..." Began Tiffany.
"Never mind what Zoc said. You are my pupae not his! Zoc dose not speak for me or the colony. I care for you Tiffany and promise you I will get you back to your normal size and life. I keep my promises." Said Hova as they ran.
What Hova said made Tiffany feel better and for a few moments she wasn't scared. The little group kept running, until they saw a soda can in the distance. They ran to it intending to climb to the very top and reach safety. Kreela and Fugax scaled it with ease, but Tiffany had to ride on Hova's back since she couldn't scale a flat surface, which slowed down Hova considerably. The frog got closer and closer, it's eyes on Hova and Tiffany. Tiffany realized that the frog was fixing to strike with it's tongue and that she and Hova weren't going to make it to the top of the can in time.
"I'm...sorry Hova." Said Tiffany.
"It's going to be ok Tiffany. We're going to make it." Said Hova as she continued to climb.
"You are." Said Tiffany as she let go of Hova and fell to the ground.
"Tiffany!" Cried Hova as she twisted around to see Tiffany hit the ground.
The frog was now focused on Tiffany as she stood up. Tiffany had a nervous look on her face, but she swallowed it and shouted and waved at the frog, before she turned and ran. Tiffany only made it a few steps, before she heard a sound and felt something slam into her back.
TWANG!
It was the frog's tongue! Tiffany was yanked into the air towards the frog's open mouth!
"Aaaaaaaaaaa!" Screamed Tiffany as she went into the frog's mouth.
The frog closed it's mouth and swallowed.
GULP!
Tiffany had been eaten by the frog! The frog then turned and left the scene satisfied with it's meal leaving the ants horrified by what they had just witnessed. Zoc had also arrived on the scene and had witnessed everything and was utterly stunned. The human had sacrificed herself to save Hova.
"Tiffany!" Sobbed Hova in dismay.
Zoc looked at Hova and realized he made a terrible mistake and now he had to fix it.
