*stares at you people watching me silently*
Alright alright I'm back once again with more goods haha! Before that though I'll talk a bit about the experience I had attending Sonic Revolution: It was pretty great! The venue was slightly bigger and there was a couple more vendors but other than that I got to meet more interesting people! Heck meeting up with Ryan Drummond, Jason Griffith and Pete Capella (first two are Sonic's VA's and third is Silver's) was a blast and got their second autographs on a couple of posters while I got to meet for a second time two IDW artists (Adam Bryce Thomas and Gigi Dutreix)! Not only that but Tyson Hesse (lead supervisor for the Sonic movie character designs) recognized me once again and gave me great news regarding Knuckles haha! The vendors themselves were amazing and provided awesome merch to which I managed to get a nice sized haul with half of it probably ending up in storage one day lol, but I'll make sure to find a use for them!
Aside from all that it was a great weekend overall! So without further ado and not wanting to bore you with anymore stuff here is the third chapter! Hope you enjoy! ^u^

Worth?
Desire can be both a blessing and a curse.
It depends primarily on how one views the aspect and if it suits them beneficially for either the short or long term. For most they would seek desire to fulfil their needs and the stronger it is the more they get seduced by it. It is only at that point does it become a curse, their judgement clouded by the demands they seek which hinder their awareness that it becomes harmful to them. If anything desire is a double edged sword that can make most happy if they reach it, but the further they dwell into it the higher the chance it can disrupt their life. Balancing it is key to ensuring that the needs are fulfilled without losing one's self-awareness, and for a certain batgirl… well she has the concept figured out well.
Rouge the Bat seeks her desire without much consequence and if anything, almost all the time it comes out positive.
Reason for it?
She is a source of desire herself. Mainly for the male population, and some females.
Her physique is one that most girls would dream of, the sly thief possessing a body that would make anyone lucky to have. Voluptuous curves, a sizeable bosom, flawless face with a moderate amount of makeup and beautiful teal eyes appearing under long eyelashes were main characteristics that made Rouge stand out well and many vied for her attention.
This was an aspect that she intentionally welcomed. Her flirtatious personality worked in tandem with her attractiveness with which she used to pursue her main desire: jewels and anything that held high value. Whenever she robbed jewelry stores and, very rarely, was caught by security guards, Rouge would work her charm and seduce them to let her go. Since almost all the security guards were guys and with how hormones worked they became infatuated and did just that, releasing her with the batgirl offering a card on her end which held the scent of her perfume. The security guards treasured it highly, not knowing that the thing they were hired to protect was just stolen. For those that resisted her seduction…
Ended up being honored with feeling the force of her powerful kicks.
Rouge desired jewels and she plans to collect as much as she can to build a fortune, her desire for gems no matter what size, shape and color they are apparently high. However unlike most people this desire doesn't cloud her judgement and Rouge is aware of it, which is why she has that aspect balanced with another.
Another that she holds closer and more personal.
Rouge was known to many as having a mischievous, clever and at times sassy nature paired well with her provocative personality. But that doesn't mean she is a shallow individual in which she uses her charms to attract guys and some girls to her in order to take advantage of them. The batgirl has a bit of a heart and kindly tells them she is not interested if they get too close.
If anything, what she seeks is a genuine relationship.
She wants a bond that holds actual meaning and not only because of her looks. She wants someone that can see her as the real her, not just some eye candy. Sure Rouge does do things that don't fit well with society and normally plays around with those under her spell, but in reality Rouge does this because at the same time… she is afraid of commitment.
The batgirl honestly thought she would have had a chance when she met a certain treasure hunter echidna. Upon meeting for the first time she saw that he was indeed pretty handsome which made her heart beat quicker. Inside she was slightly nervous upon seeing him and wanted to befriend him as a start, but unfortunately her dallying nature didn't allow it and she delivered a few jabs at him with sly comments. It didn't do wonders and it only made the echidna angry at her to which he stated that he would be finding the emeralds first. This only brought up her other desire for jewels and not wanting to bow out replied that she would get to them before him.
Afterwards it was only bickering and fighting between them with the echidna saying that he would always hate her. Rouge took it personally one time and almost cried when she was back home, but if anything she realized that in the end it wouldn't work out. They were too different to be together from the start.
Opposites attract huh? Well not in this case.
That is when she met another not too long after.
A hedgehog who was very different. Nothing like a certain blue speedster.
Much darker, more serious, more… captivating.
Rouge became partners with him and was slightly annoyed with how closed off he was, yet at the same time she was drawn to him. Over time did the two become closer with the latter opening up more and sharing his past experiences with Rouge. If anything this made Rouge sympathetic towards him in which afterwards she started to highly respect the black hedgehog.
At the same time she developed genuine care and adoration, wanting to become more than just partners and best friends with him. Her flirtatious advances didn't work much on him and although he takes almost all things seriously, Rouge was still drawn to him.
Her feelings for Shadow the Hedgehog grew.
And they blossomed upon completing a dangerous mission where Shadow got hurt protecting Rouge. At that point she realized it: Rouge found her main desire in life. And that was to be with her best friend.
One that understood her, caring more for what she is really like. One that looked past her teasing nature to see who she really was inside and that would give her the same respect. One that wouldn't mind having someone like her.
Especially since she genuinely got emotional for when Shadow 'sacrificed' himself to save the Earth. Displaying genuine feelings.
Luckily Shadow returned those feelings and Rouge felt as if she was in heaven. Every jewel she stole and every regret she made now meant nothing. Her desire became a necessity and if anything, she wouldn't trade it for any gem.
That day, Shadow became her most precious treasure. The same way he risked his life to protect her she would do the same. Especially when he gave his first real smile to her.
Rouge will never give him up, her desire for him finally complete. And she was genuinely happy to feel loved and to love.
…
"BWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Well… not everyone can feel the same way.
"AMY CALM DOWN YOU'RE TOO LOUD!" Rouge cried out covering her large ears. The ivory batgirl was currently at Amy's house experiencing the pink hedgehog wail incredibly hard, the two sitting on one of her couches. Rouge's clenched eyes opened slightly to see tears run down Amy's tan muzzle with her mouth open wide as she sobbed uncontrollably. Her high-pitched crying was disorienting Rouge slightly due to her bat ears being much more sensitive to sound compared to average ears and if anything she wobbled a bit from the noise. Gritting her teeth tight Rouge released her hold on one ear and placed that hand on Amy's shoulder. "CALM DOWN!"
This seemed to do the trick as Amy lowered her voice, but she continued to sob with the waterworks not stopping. Amy's eyes were puffy and red as the pink hedgehog nodded and grab a tissue from the box sitting on a table in front of them blowing her nose with it. "S-S-Sorry R-Rouge…" she mumbled.
"It's fine hun." Rouge sighed releasing her hold on her ears. "Letting it all out does wonders but I didn't expect you to be a screamer hehe."
Amy sniffed wiping her eyes. "T-T-Thanks f-for c-coming."
"No problem. So let me get this straight." Rouge started. "Big Blue came back from a morning run and you basically lashed out at him."
"Y-Yeah…"
"You yelled at him because he was late, that he acts childish and that he doesn't fulfil his promises."
Amy's expression worsened. "Y-Y-Yes…"
"And in turn he yelled at you because you insult him when he does silly things, that you have him do things that you want to do when he clearly doesn't want to on his end, and that you don't know the real him."
The pink-colored girl's body trembled harder. "Y-Y-Y-Yes…"
"So to end it all, Sonic broke up with you." Rouge finished.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!""
The batgirl instantly clutched her ears and tightened her face from the new onslaught of crying coming out of Amy. Her shrieks felt like needles stabbing her eardrums as Rouge desperately tried to muffle it out. "AMY YOU'RE TOO LOUD AGAIN!"
"SONIC I'M SO SORRY! P-PLEASE C-COME BACK TO M-ME!"
Rouge opened her eyes to see Amy while keeping her hands on her ears. She looked so broken, a new wave of tears running down her face with a bit of mascara causing thin black lines. Her normally vibrant pink quills were disheveled and looked as if they had not touched water in days with how slick they looked. Instead of her usual red dress with red boots she wore solid red pajamas with pink hearts on them with fluffy socks covering her feet, but if anything they looked very wrinkled up with what looked like some ice cream stains on them. Rouge assumed Amy watched some sad romance movies while eating ice cream to feel better.
"WAAAHHAHAHAAAAAAAA!"
Rouge had enough.
"STOP!" the batgirl brought her hands upon Amy's mouth and covered them feeling the latter's voice vibrate against her palms. She still continued to sob only at a lesser volume, the pink hedgehog opening her eyes to look at her. Rouge brought one of her hands to her face and gestured a finger to her own mouth telling her to quiet down. Amy nodded on her part and slowly did Rouge let go, the rose-colored girl letting out hiccups and sniffles. "S-Sorry…" Amy apologized.
The ivory batgirl sighed. "It's fine hon, I should be sorry for you for losing the only person that was important to you. Knowing that you love Big Blue that much and for him to break up with you must be really tough to swallow."
"Y-Yeah… it is…" Amy mumbled looking down in sadness.
"If Shady did that to me." Rouge's expression turned into worry. "If he ever did that… I probably wouldn't know what to do in life."
"B-But you and S-Shadow are best friends." Amy replied wiping her eyes. "I'm glad that you two are together and I doubt he would break up with you."
Rouge smiled. "That's true and thanks hon, but right now it's about you and Sonic. You two have known each other far longer than me and Shady known each other so your relationship is very important." Rouge's expression changed into a lovely one. "That's not to say I don't care about me and Shady… he's so cute and handsome heehee~."
"Y-You're not helping Rouge." Amy deadpanned sniffling.
Rouge jumped slightly. "Oh sorry haha! Almost got into one of my daydreams!"
The pink hedgehog rolled her eyes as she sighed and hugged herself close. "I don't know what to do Rouge. I was able to capture his heart after so many years and… maybe Sonic's right." the pink hedgehog curled further hiding her face. "I don't know the real him…"
The sly thief watched her in concern. Back then the two girls met under tense odds and considered one another as rivals, but at the same time bitter enemies. However with recent events and having to team up in order to stop the threats in the world both Amy and Rouge became close friends. The former saw that the latter was actually sweet and easygoing when she doesn't think about her blue hero. If anything Amy was pretty strong and doesn't give up on others which made Rouge respect her after they settled their differences. Nowadays they hung out with each other whenever they got the chance and due to that new bond, they both care about each other.
Rouge searched through her mind to find any solution to lift her friend's spirits. It would be difficult given that Amy has a very strong connection to Sonic and unlike her own experience with attempting to capture Knuckles' affection back then, it wouldn't compare much to how Amy is feeling at the moment. The two hedgehogs knew each other for most of their lives while Rouge has only known both Knuckles and Shadow for less than half of that, the batgirl settling with Sonic's counterpart in the end. It would be difficult nonetheless so she would have to come up with something that she can use involving the two hedgies without making her cry again.
So she followed her gut.
"Alright Amy, so with what you told me about you and Big Blue, how much do you know of him?" Rouge began. Sniffling a few times Amy raised her head off her knees still looking depressed. "W-Well we've met when my tarot cards said that I would meet someone brave and courageous and from there I saw a streak a blue light running past me that went up a chain that held a world called Little Plant. From there I followed Sonic but I got captured by Metal Sonic, until Sonic defeated him and rescued me."
"Aww that's so sweet~!" Rouge clasped her hands together. "Your prince charming cared and rescued you like in one of those princess stories! Oh I wished something like that happened on my end but since I like being a strong girl it won't happen hehe… well not yet anyway."
Amy giggled. "Who knows, I mean Shadow is your prince charming after all."
Rouge nodded proudly. "Yes. Yes he is, but aside from him let's continue with you."
"Right. So after that I basically followed him wherever he went and asked him to marry me. Apparently with how much of a fangirl I was it freaked Sonic out and he always ran and avoided me, but I didn't give up because I felt that he was only being shy and such. I mean most people would be when someone that likes them wants to be in a relationship."
'…That's some commitment. I guess that's why Knucklehead doesn't like me hehe, but with our part it was straight up arguing and if I did what Amy did on Shadow… I wouldn't see tomorrow... Hmm, looks like I now know what's going on, but just to be sure…' Rouge spoke afterward. "So after your whole number one fan phase, how did you get Sonic to hook up with you?"
"It wasn't easy but with what the others suggested I had to change myself to be more civil and not clingy. I chased after him less and focused on what's important not just for me but for my friends. I worked on improving myself so that I can be a big help to anyone and looked at other things in life." Amy gave a smile. "It boosted my self-confidence and made me realize that I can do great things if I put my mind to it, not having to rely on Sonic as much when it comes to facing Dr. Eggman and other evil stuff."
"That's great to hear hon, so with that change I'm guessing-."
"Yeah." Amy sighed. "The advice worked and Sonic began noticing me. Whenever we were together with friends he would try to get my attention and regardless I gave it to him, but I made sure to be courteous. Instead of me having to chase after him it became the other way around and Sonic would find time for it."
"And from all that-."
"Yup, we made it official when we walked along Emerald Coast in a nice sunset one day." Amy sighed and giggled. "We both said it at the same time and were very nervous."
Rouge smiled at that. "Good to see that Big Blue finally noticed you. The real you."
Amy's smile turned in a frown a moment later. "Yeah but with what he said before he broke up with me because I don't know the real him."
The ivory batgirl was close to figuring it out. "So how did you act when you two got together?"
"Well the first several days went great as I was always there for him. After that did I notice that Sonic becomes childish whenever we go to places with the others that he doesn't agree on. When he complains I tell him that he's being immature and when he does stupid things I call him an idiot." Amy's expression became annoyed. "I swear I sometimes don't understand why he does what he does, and when it comes to promises he barely ever meets them. I mean yeah he left a note that day but he didn't say what time he'll be back! Honestly Sonic should really be more civilized like how I did so that he can see me in a better light!"
Rouge rolled her eyes. She figured it out.
"Well I found out what the issue is hon." the batgirl said. Amy raised her eyes in curiosity. "Really?"
"Yeah, but before I get to that let me just say: both of you are idiots in the matter."
The rose-colored girl raised an eyebrow. "How is that?"
"Well for one thing I know one reason Sonic broke up with you." Rouge's expression turned serious.
…
"It's because your pent up frustration from not having Sonic reciprocate your feelings back then is making you act that way against him."
…
Amy was shock, pupils dilated within olive hues. "B-But that's n-not possible. I'm happy to be with him!"
"Yeah but here's the thing Amy: you have a big temper and a bit of an ego. Apparently your past self is still working around inside you that wants revenge for how Sonic treated you. You may not realize it but that past self is making you act that way against Sonic so that it can feel good about itself knowing that Big Blue is getting what he deserves." Rouge explains.
"N-No… there's no way!" Amy looked down in worry. "Am I really…?"
"And there's that: you basically deny that without being aware of it. Whenever you insult him or tell them that he's acting childish you're only feeding that past self. Not only that but it only caused Big Blue to look at you negatively compared to when you underwent that change." Rouge continued. "You did change for the better hon which is great, but with Sonic that frustration is being used to give him his just desserts for how he was like to you back then, and not in a good way."
The pink hedgehog was astonished at all this, her eyes shifting to her shaking hands. "S-Sonic…"
Rouge watched her crumble again but she knew it was the truth. Sighing again she continued. "This is probably causing Sonic to not meet those promises because you're pushing him away. It made him scared that he's doing what he can to make you happy even if he doesn't meet it, but from what you told me he was only doing his own thing first and would get back to you soon. Heck if there was a note then that means he'll be back, but I figure he didn't put the time because he didn't know what time he'd be back."
Amy looked back up at Rouge, tears threatening to come out again. "Y-Y-You're r-right… I-I should've been m-more calm."
Rouge nodded slowly, her expression becoming sympathetic. "And with knowing the real him… do you know anything about his life before you two met? Like any family? Where he was born? What he went through? Stuff like that?"
The pink hedgehog shook her head sniffling. "N-No… we didn't."
"Ah there is it, that's why you don't know the real him. You don't know the reasons he is the way he is right now." the ivory batgirl placed a hand under her chin in thought. "If he acts childish and carefree I can assume either he had no parents or had ones that didn't care much about him. When it came to your romantic advances he was probably scared not because he was shy, but because I assume in his younger years no one showed him how to act towards the opposite sex or teach him romance. If anything Sonic feels more comfortable just sticking to what he likes and is hesitant when it comes to coming out of his comfort zone."
Amy watched in awe this time. "S-So the places we went… t-that I wanted to go-."
"Were most likely places that Sonic isn't comfortable being at and you didn't let him say his part whether he wanted to go or not. You just dragged him along." Rouge smirked. "I mean Sonic can't swim and I bet you took him to places that had water or so."
"Y-Yeah…"
"There you go and that's why Sonic said that. Big Blue is a great hero and a lot of people love him for saving the world, but the thing is that most of the world doesn't know what he's like personally. You are the only one that can figure that out given that you got the chance to capture his heart." Rouge finished up.
Silence followed after that explanation with Amy deep in thought. Rouge was fine with it since the latter needed time to process it all out, the sounds of birds being the only noise coming from the outside. Rouge was hoping that all this was enough to make Amy realize the reason behind it.
Because there is no way she'll be saying stuff like that from the heart to anyone besides Shadow ever again hehe.
A few minutes in and Amy shifted in her seat which caught Rouge's attention. Teal eyes watched the rose-colored girls' own olive green ones light up slightly with confidence.
"You're right Rouge. I don't know much about Sonic yet and I've been an idiot for not acting more appropriately." Amy brought her hands into fists. "I'll do my best to be better for him and this time, I'll know the real him and what he's really like. He does his best to make me happy and all I did was push him away because of how he treated me back then, but this time I'll show him why I always supported and loved him even when times get tough!"
Amy jumped up from her seat with a beaming smile. "Don't worry Sonikku. My sweet, strong and handsome Sonikku! When we get back together I'll promise to put what you feel comfortable with alongside my own and that I won't insult you or call you an idiot! I promise that as your amazing girlfriend and future wife!"
Rouge sweatdropped but laughed it off after standing up. "That's the spirit hon!"
"Hehe, thanks Rouge. I appreciate the words and thanks again for coming." Amy smiled. Rouge grinned placing a hand on her shoulder. "We were once enemies Amy, and I'm glad that we are now friends. Remember, Sonic is like that because that's how he is. If you want to know more about him, you need to know more about his past and make sure you make him feel comfortable about it so don't go too fast. That's how Shadow and I came to trust each other so much and underneath that usual grumpy look of his, he's a sweet and adorable person."
"That makes sense, well I'll make sure to find out more about Sonic. Hopefully he isn't too mad about it…" Amy's ears and expression lowered in worry. "I do hope I'm not too late."
"Sonic's a great guy Amy and I don't think he would let you go entirely. Even if you were harsh to him during your time together, I'm sure he still sees the goodness in your heart and that you don't mean it." Rouge added.
With those words Amy gave a nod. "Yeah."
"Good and don't worry you're not the only one that's at fault. With Sonic he has to learn how to adapt and experience new things, along with being more mature and such. Big Blue can't be stuck in the past too much I would say, but remember to take it easy on him since being in a relationship is still new to him and his past may not have taught him much."
"Got it Rouge." Amy answered. "So on your end you managed to find out that much about Shadow's past?"
"Yup and that's how I got to know the real him. I did the same thing and talked him about my own." Rouge explained.
"So how were you like back then?" Amy questioned. Rouge shook her head in response. "Only between me and Shady hun. Sorry."
The two gave a laugh.
"Well alright Rouge thanks for the talk and hopefully I can find a way to repay you." the pink hedgehog offered.
The ivory batgirl waved a hand. "No need Amy. Just looking out for a friend." The two gave each other a short hug for a few seconds and pulled back, though for Rouge her face was slightly scrunched in disgust. "And hon… please take a shower."
Amy grinned sheepishly scratching her head. "Hehe yeah, I was too depressed to even take care of my appearance but I'll do that. Aside from that it's great to hear that you and Shadow are doing well."
Rouge's eyes lit up. "Oh we are doing marvelous! Especially the many nights when we-."
"Alright I don't need to know that much haha!" Amy laughed. "Still though it's great to see you're not bickering with Knuckles anymore as well."
"I'm actually happier that we don't do that as much." Rouge's smile widened afterward. "And… I'm grateful that he found someone."
"Oh yeah with Tikal huh? You haven't met her yet right?"
Rouge's lips turned into a thin line as a hand rubbed her cheek, recalling a certain memory. "Well I did happen to see her, but no worries it was only brief."
Amy raised an eyebrow, but shrugged it off. "Alright well we can plan a visit in the future if anything. Hehe she kind of reminds me of me with how clingy she is to Knuckles, but in a good way."
"Oh yeah, I happened to notice…" Rouge groaned slightly. She did recall feeling a fist the last time she visited. "Anyway so how's Cream doing?"
"Oh she's doing fine! So basically she and Tails…"
And from there the two talked to one another about other things to brighten the now cheerful mood, Amy knowing what she must do to make amends with her blue hero.
