Here is chapter three. I don't think there is any warnings for this chapter. I'd like to thank AriaBlack19EGO for following this story. And also I'd like to thank gotama for both following and favoring The Dream, and the Fall and me

The part that are Italicized are from one of my other stories. The words in the dream are not mine.

I still own none of the characters. :(

Anyway... enjoy.

Faramir slumped slightly in his saddle, looking upwards towards Rivendell, or Imladris. He took a breath, savouring the freshness of the air, before he nudged his horse forward again. As he was riding, he got the sense that he was being watched. He stopped, turning in his saddle, looking around for the person following him, seeing no one his turned back around, keeping his seances alert. After a few minuets, he spun around suddenly, catching sight of a dark haired person duck out of sight. Faramir halted his horse, swinging down, and putting a arrow to his bow in a instant. He stepped forward "Come out."

A tall elf, with dark hair, and a thin face moved out from behind a tree, he too had a bow at the ready, but the arrow was pointed downwards towards the ground. "State your business in the Lands of Imladris, human." The elf spoke in Westron, the common language of all the peoples.

Faramir lowered his bow, bowing his head, "Len suilon*. I am a man of Gondor, sent to Imladris for counsel."

The elf looked surprised that Faramir greeted him in Sindarin, but quickly regained his composure, walking forward, motioning for Faramir to follow "I will lead you to the gates."

Once in the gates of Rivendell, another elf came towards them, reaching for Faramir's horse. He reluctantly released his companion for the past months into the hands of the brown haired elf, then quickly followed his silent companion to the doors of the house. The door opened before they reached the top of the steps, and a blond elf stepped out "Erestor! I see you have brought us another visitor." He lowered his voice looking carefully at Faramir "Did he trouble you?"

Faramir watched as the elf who directed him to Imladris, Erestor, shake his head, "Nay, he caused no trouble, unlike the dwarves." he almost spat the last word, glaring into the house. Faramir frowned, what were dwarves doing in a elven city? He jolted from his thoughts as Erestor motioned him into the house "I will shew you to Lord Elrond."

Faramir looked around him as Erestor led him up some steps, and down a hall, till they came to a stop in fount of a closed door. Erestor knocked, and when a voice called out, he opened the door, stepping in, motioning for Faramir to stay. Faramir was able to here the murmur of lowered voices, then Erestor came back out "The Lord Elrond can see you now."

He motioned Faramir in then closed the door behind him. Faramir looked around the room, noting the comfortable chairs, on one side of the room, and a desk on the other. His heart jumped as he realized that it was in the same stile of his father's rooms. He looked towards the two figures that were standing by the window, the first was tall, like most elves, and he had dark hair. The second figure he knew well, the stooped form, and staff in hand belonged to the wizard Mithrandir. He stepped forward, "Mithrandir! I wasn't expecting you to be here!"

The stooped figure turned with a smile "My dear Faramir!" He looked him up and down "You have been traveling for some time, you must be tired." He led Faramir to the comfortable chairs, and sat him in a chair by the fire.

Mithrandir went to a small table and poured a glass of wine, watching Faramir as he did so. He looked weary, and travel worn, as he rested his head on the back of the chair, closing his eyes. Mithrandir quietly put the glass of wine next to Faramir, then went back to the window, next to the silent Elrond. The Lord of the house kept his voice quiet

"You know this one?"

Mithrandir nodded, looking out of the window "That is the Steward of Gondor's youngest son."

Elrond's eyes pierced Mithrandir "The Steward of Gondor? What about" he hesitated looking towards the younger man "What about Estel?"

The wizard became troubled "It is true that the Steward is not willing for a King, and Boromir, the Steward's eldest, is like his father in that respect. But Faramir... I believe that he is willing for the King to come."

"But surly he would follow his father's desires?"

Mithrandir frowned "A man is allowed his own views."

Elrond turned to the wizard "Mithrandir. You know of what I speak. A son will follow what his father does, and what his father believes."

"That is true. But Faramir is the type of man who makes his own decisions. He sees the need for a King."

At that moment Faramir lifted his head, reaching for his glass "I can hear you."

Elrond lifted a eye brow, looking to Mithrandir in amusement "You knew."

The wizard just looked back, eyes laughing.

Elrond walked over to the chairs, and Faramir quickly stood up, inclining his head "My Lord." Mithrandir could see the way Faramir was studying Elrond, looking for any signs of evil in him. That was one reason he let Elrond ask questions about him, so that Faramir could get a chance to find out about him with out facing him. Mithrandir knew that due to his father's treatment of him, when he was under the palantír Faramir was wary of men of high standing, till he could see if they were in connection with the enemy. Elrond broke his thoughts

"Sit, please."

Mithrandir sat in one of the chairs, watching in satisfaction as Faramir relaxed, leaning back against the chair back, and sipping his wine. Elrond, noticing the change, looked to Mithrandir, silently telling him to tell him more once they were alone. He turned back to Faramir

"Why did you come all this way, Faramir, son of Denethor?"

Faramir took a deep breath "I...I have visions. I haven't told any one but my brother, Boromir, and Mithrandir." he hesitated, looking at the wizard "And my father knows as well." Mithrandir felt fear run thru him as he saw the look in Faramir's eyes. His father was obviously under the spell of the palantír when he was told about it. Faramir broke eye contact, looking back to Elrond

"The last one I have had, I have had many times. And my brother, who doesn't have visions had the same dream." He closed his eyes "It is dark. So dark, but only in the eastern sky. On the other side, the West, there was a dim light. There was a sound like thunder in the East, and in the West a voice. It was from far away, but still discernible. It said

Seek for the Sword that was broken:

In Imladris it dwells;

There shall be counsels taken

Stronger than Morgul-spells.

There shall be shown a token

That Doom is near at hand,

For Isildur's Bane shall waken,

And the Halfling forth shall stand."

Faramir opened his eyes, looking directly at Elrond. The Lord of the house was surprised, there were few that could look directly in his eyes, it showed a man of true willpower. Faramir continued looking into Elrond's eyes as he spoke

"My Lord Elrond. The Steward wants me to take Isildur's Bane back to him. I know not what it is, but I fear it. There is a evil feel about it, in the words, and when my father talks about it."

Elrond drew in a breath, "Why do you tell me this? It would be simpler on your self if you kept it quiet, and took it with out warning, giving you a way to escape."

Faramir's eyes filled with a pain that Elrond didn't, couldn't understand, even after his six thousand and some years in Middle Earth. He kept his eyes on Elrond, letting him see the truth "I tell you because I fear for my father. And I fear him. I fear him when he is under the darkness of the palantír, I will fear him more if he is under the power of something this evil."

Elrond stayed silent, looking at Faramir, looking into his heart. Finally he sighed "Thank you, Faramir, for telling me."

Mithrandir stood up, leaning heavily on his staff. He walked over to the desk, and after grabbing his hat, he motioned towards Faramir "Come Son of Denethor. I will shew you to your room. Then there is something I would like you to see."

* Len suilon: I greet you

So...what did you think of this chapter?
