Back to Reality.
A few days after returning to New York, Logan and Rory were finally getting back to normal. Logan were getting back to work at the Huntzberger Group and Rory were getting back to her work at The New York Times.
Logan had just gotten to his office, when Mitchum walked into his office.
"So you have finally decided to return?" Mitchum asked while storming into his office.
"Yes dad, I'm sorry for having a life." Logan answered him bluntly.
"You thought it was responsible to just take off?" Mitchum asked.
"Yes, I did. I was in contact with the office everyday while I was away. And last I checked you were still the head of the company. I haven't taken over yet dad."Logan told him while typing on his computer.
"If you keep acting this way, I don't know if you ever will be ready to take over."Mitchum told him bluntly.
"What is that supposed to mean? You have been holding this over my head for all my life." Logan asked.
"I mean that if you insist on throwing your life away with your wife, I'm not sure that you will be the right fit for the company." Mitchum answered him.
"You mean you would actually disown me? For marrying Rory?" Logan asked while getting angry.
"It is something your mother and I are considering. Your sister have two sons, and they could always take over when they are old enough." Mitchum answered.
"You are unbelievable dad, I've spent my entire life preparing for this, I've done everything you have asked of me. I almost married Odetté because you wanted me to. I moved to London because you wanted me to learn the business. You have prepared me for this all my life, and now you just want to throw it away? Besides Honor's sons are 6 and 10 years old, it will be years before they can take over."Logan told him angrily.
"Yes I have prepared you, but by doing this I really don't know if you are the right person anymore. You have never wanted this life Logan." Mitchum told him.
"I know damn well I never wanted this life, but I never had a choice." Logan told him while standing up.
"I will discuss this with your mother and the board. I will let you know what we decide. If you will continue to take over for me or not. Weather what the board decides. I will still disown you, and you will lose everything. You will lose the apartment and everything." Mitchum threatened.
"You really think that matters to me? The only thing that matters to me, is that I have Rory, my wife in my life. You have only ever treated me like an heir, never a son."Logan screamed.
"I have never been more disappointed in you Logan. You never listened to me or your mother, we never liked Rory. Why couldn't you just have married Odetté, like we wanted you to?" Mitchum asked.
"Seriously dad? You only wanted me to marry her because of her fathers reputation and because of what society would think. I have always loved Rory, I will never love anyone else. She has been more of my family than you ever have been." Logan answered him.
"We wanted you to marry Odetté because of her father's connections and because she would have been the better choice for you." Mitchum told him.
"I don't want to talk more about this anymore dad, either you leave or I leave. Either you disown me or you don't. And you can take the apartment if you want to, I'm living with Rory. I told Odetté, that she could take the apartment because I didn't want it."Logan told him while starting to grab his things to leave.
"You did what?!" Mitchum yelled.
"I gave the apartment to Odetté, because it was the least I could do for her. Seeing how she moved from France, and I ended up marrying someone else." Logan explained to him.
"You are unbelievable Logan. You gave the apartment to the woman you didn't get married to." Mitchum told him.
"I don't really care what you think dad, I wanted to give her the apartment. Because it was the least I could do." Logan told him while grabbing the last of his things.
"You will hear from me within the week." Mitchum said before leaving.
As soon as Mitchum left, Logan picked up his phone and called Rory, she answered pretty quickly.
"Well hello there husband, what can I do for you?" Rory answered the phone.
"Dad just left my office. He threatened to disown me." Logan sighed.
"What?! Can he really do that?" Rory asked.
"Yeah, he could do that. It's still his company and he's really pissed of with me right now. He even threatened to take away the apartment. But I told him, he can't because I gave the apartment to Odetté." Logan explained.
"Wait what? You gave the apartment to Odetté? You didn't tell me that Logan."Rory told him, confused.
"Yeah, about that.. I felt like I owed her at least that. I'm sorry Ace." Logan apologized.
"I understand that, I just wish you would have told me about it babe." Rory told him.
"I know I should have told you, I just didn't know how to tell you about it." Logan apologized.
"There is nothing to apologize for. I just think you should have told me. Now do you want to meet me for lunch? I can come to your office?" Rory asked.
"I'd love to meet you for lunch, can I meet you somewhere instead? I need to get out of my office, babe." Logan answered.
"What are you in the mood for?" Rory asked.
"I can eat anything, meet you by the fountain downtown?" Logan asked.
"It's a date, see you in thirty minutes?" Rory asked.
"It's a date Ace. See you soon." Logan told her before hanging up.
Logan hung up the phone, checked his calendar before leaving.
He messaged his assistant letting her know he would be back after lunch.
After that he left his office to go downtown to meet Rory.
Twenty minutes later, he got downtown.
He messaged Rory, to let her know he were there. She texted back saying she were a few minutes away.
"Hi you." Rory told him from behind.
"Hi back. I missed you baby." Logan told her while pulling her into a hug.
"I missed you too. How are you?" Rory asked while returning the hug.
"I'm okay, a little shocked still. I didn't expect dad to just show up like that." Logan answered.
"I'm not really surprised that he showed up like that." Rory told him while cupping his cheek with her hand.
"I'm just thankful for having you in my life, you know that right?" Logan asked while leaning into her touch.
"Yes I know. But as much I want you to talk to me, I think that you should book a new appointment with your therapist again. You need to talk to a professional Logan. I'm always gonna be here for you but I think it would be the best for you again." Rory told him carefully.
"I think you're right Rory. I haven't been to a therapist since before the wedding. I promise I will come to you when I need too. But it would be best for me to talk to a therapist again." Logan told her honestly.
"You haven't spoken to your therapist since before the wedding? I'm not mad, I'm just concerned." Rory asked.
"I just haven't had the time Ace. Or more like I haven't been able to bring myself to do it." Logan admitted.
"Why didn't you just ask for my help?" Rory asked carefully.
"Because it's not that easy Ace. In my mind, I feel like there are people that have it worse than me." Logan admitted.
"You know that's not true, right? And even if there are people that have it worse then you, all that matters is you and your health." Rory told him honestly.
"I know you're right, but I just can't get into my head." Logan admitted.
"Oh Logan, if you need my help to call your therapist, I will help you. Every step of the way." Rory told him honestly.
"Thank you Rory." Logan thanked her.
"You don't need to thank me. Now, let's get something to eat." Rory told him.
"What are you in the mood for?" Logan asked her.
"There's a restaurant just a few blocks away, it's really good." Rory suggested.
"Let's go, lead the way." Logan told her while grabbing her hand and letting her show him the way.
They began to walk towards the restaurant, where Rory wanted to eat.
"Where your head at Ace?" Logan asked.
"I just have a lot on my mind, I have a lot to do at work. Not easy getting back to your routines after having been away for a few days." Rory answered honestly.
"I know what you mean, it's not easy." Logan agreed.
"Here we are." Rory announced right before stopping outside the restaurant.
"This looks great Ace, you've been here before?" Logan asked while opening the door to the restaurant.
"Once or twice with colleagues from work. They have really good food." Rory answered.
"I trust you Ace." Logan told her.
They walked into the restaurant and found a free table.
After they had sat down, a waiter came up to them and gave them two menus.
They started to look at the menus, it took a few minutes for them to decide.
They ordered and then continued to talk.
"So you're okay?" Rory asked.
"I will be Ace, I promise. First thing tomorrow I'll call my therapist, I promise."Logan promised.
"I'm proud of you babe. And I'll still be here for you all the way." Rory told him while reaching out to take his hand.
"Thank you Rory, I wouldn't have taken this step if I hadn't had you in my life."Logan admitted.
"There is nothing to thank me for. You would do the same for me." Rory told him.
"I love you." Logan told her.
"And I love you." Rory told him.
A few minutes later their food arrived.
"This tastes amazing." Logan said.
"I'm glad you liked it." Rory told him while taking a bit of her own food.
"This was the best distraction away from dealing with dad today." Logan admitted.
"That was my idea. So what will happen now?" Rory asked.
"Well dad will take this to the board, and they will vote on it. To either take release me from my responsibilities or not." Logan explained.
"But don't you have a seat on the board?" Rory asked.
"There's the thing, dad made it so that I would get a seat on the board when I took over, so no I don't have a seat on the board, I don't even have shares in my own family company. Dad set it all up when I was born." Logan explained.
"Well forgive me but what the actual hell?! They wanted you take over the company but you don't even have either shares or a seat on the board until you take over? So they can just decide to vote you out and you don't even get a say?" Rory said while rasing her voice.
"I never said it was right. That's just the way dad wanted it. I don't get a say in anything of it." Logan told her while putting his hand on top of Rorys.
"What happens if he really disowns you?" Rory asked.
"Well I would lose everything, my trust fund, my right to take over the company. Mom and dad will stop talking to me. I will only be a Huntzberger in name only." Logan answered.
"I can't help to feel like this is partly my fault." Rory told him honestly.
"Rory, no. This is not your fault, it's my parents fault. You are the only thing that matters in my life, I honestly don't care if they disown me, as long as I have you in my life." Logan told her while lifting her hand and kissed it.
"I hate your parents." Rory said honestly.
"Me too Ace. Dad always wanted me to take over, he forced me into the business as soon as I could talk and now just because I married you, and not Odétte. He's set on taking everything away from me." Logan said while taking a sip from his glass.
"He realized that he can't control you anymore. Before you did what he said even though you weren't happy about it, you still did it and now you won't do it anymore."Rory told him honestly.
"I'm done caring about what my parents wants. Let him disown me, as long as I have you non of it matters, I just need you Ace."
"You have me Logan, you will always have me." Rory promised.
"That is all I need." Logan told her while standing up from his seat and leaned over the table to kiss Rory.
"Now let's get out of here? I have to get back, but you could come with me?" Rory suggested.
"I'd love to, cause I really don't feel like going back to the office." Logan admitted.
"Then let's pay and go back to my office." Rory said while getting the attention of a waiter.
They payed their bill and walked out of the restaurant and walked out to the street to get a cab back to Rory's work.
" You really want to come back with me?" Rory asked.
"I'm really sure Ace, I need to do something to take my mind of everything that has happened to day." Logan assured her.
"Anything I can do to help, I'll do it for you." Rory told him.
"I'm so lucky to have you in my life Ace." Logan told her while pulling her into a kiss.
"I'm lucky too. I can't imagine my life without you in it." Rory told him after they separated from the kiss.
"I'm lucky to have you help me through this." Logan told her honestly.
"We are helping each other through this." Rory told him while grabbing his hand.
"Yes we do." Logan said.
They went back to Rory's office.
Rory had a few meetings in the afternoon.
"Are you sure you want to wait here?"Rory asked while grabbing her things.
"Yes, Ace. I'm sure. I'll get some work done." Logan answered her.
"Okay, I won't be gone for more than two hours." Rory promised.
"I will be here." Logan told her while leaning into kiss her.
They said their goodbyes before Rory had to leave for her meetings.
Once Rory had left, Logan opened his laptop to see a few unread emails, one from his sister. He sighed and opened the of the email.
"Dear baby brother. You really did it this time, dad is fuming. You gave the apartment to Odette? I love you but Logan. You could you lose the company over this. I know you don't want it but Logan, are you sure about this? Please call me when you get the time? Love you. " - Honor.
He sighed, unlocked his phone and dialed Honors number. It took a few seconds before Honor answered.
"Logan, finally." - Honor
"Sis, don't be angry. I just don't know what I'm going to do." - Logan.
"I know Logan, I didn't mean to sound angry, I'm just frustrated. Mom and dad are really pissed. And why on earth would you give the apartment to Odette and not tell anyone? Did you tell Rory?" - Honor.
"I know they're angry, I didn't expect anything else. But you should have heard what dad said.
No, I didn't tell Rory and no she didn't react well to it." - Logan.
"You don't have to tell me what he said, I can just imagine what he said.
I can see how Rory wouldn't take it well. I mean what did you expect? You gave your apartment to the woman you were engaged to." -Honor.
"I honestly don't know what I were thinking besides that it was the least I could do for Odette." - Logan.
"Oh baby brother, I love you for caring about others but you need to take care of yourself too. Now let's not talk more about all of this. How are you?"-Honor.
"I'm doing okay, I have an appointment with my therapist later this week. Rory has been amazing throughout all of this. I wouldn't be doing this without her." - Logan.
"I'm thankful that you have Rory to help you through this. She if anyone knows what mom and dad are like."-Honor.
"Yeah she really knows what their like." - Logan.
"I'm really sorry but Jake is calling for me, but I will see you and Rory at your wedding reception. You call me any time okey? I love you Logan." - Honor.
"And I love you sis. And give my nephew and niece hugs from me."-Logan.
They said they're goodbye and hung up the phone.
He texted Rory to tell her that he didn't feel well and he would go home, he apologized and told her, he would see her at home and that he loved her.
He grabbed his things and went down to the street and grabbed a cab and went home.
Once he got home, he got undressed and jumped in the shower.
It didn't take him long to start crying.
All the stress and everything that had happened the last few months and that day finally caught up with him.
He stood in the shower for a while, until he decided to get out. He dried himself, took on his bathrobe and went out to the couch. He sat there for a while until the front door opened.
"Logan, babe? You here?" Rory called out.
"Ace? What are you doing here?" He asked surprised while getting up from the couch.
"I read your text and got worried. I talked to Alexandra and she took over for me." Rory answered him.
"I didn't mean to worry you, I just felt like I needed to go home." Logan told her honestly.
"I had a feeling after lunch, you talked to Honor didn't you?" Rory asked.
"How did you know?" Logan asked.
"She texted me and asked me to check on you, she told me everything you talked about. " Rory answered while touching his cheek.
"Oh Ace. I don't know what to do anymore." Logan told her while tearing up.
"You do not have to carry this alone, I'm here for you. And I understand why you gave Odette the apartment." Rory told him.
"You do?" Logan asked.
Rory just nodded.
"Do you want to get into bed with me? I just need to get some rest." Logan asked.
"If you want me there, then I am there. Let's go." Rory answered while grabbing Logan's hand and leading him into the bedroom.
They got into bed and within minutes Logan had fallen asleep.
She laid there, swearing at Mitchum and Shira for treating Logan this way. Promising herself to do what ever she could to protect him and be there for him no matter what.
I'm finally back!
Thank you for reading.
