The First Day

Everyone knows how the first day of college goes, professors talk about what to expect in their class, syllabus are handed out, books are recommended, questions are asked from various people ranging from important to, did you really just ask that? You get a look at what the rest of the year is going to be like and who potential allies are for future projects. Roxas yawned and checked his phone for the time, class was almost over, thank fuck. Professor Ansem had already assigned homework for the week. Roxas had heard Professor Ansem could be a bit of a hardass but only to the students who chose not to try. True learning Japanese could be difficult but if you were determined enough you'd learn it…eventually. Roxas pulled out his schedule and looked over all of the classes he'd chosen to take this semester. Stupid pre-reqs took up almost all of his schedule. Why did colleges do that? Why was it necessary to take English to get into Psychology? What was the point? You literally spent all of highschool in English; why the fuck do you need to take it again? Anatomy Physiology made sense at least, if you're going to be poking around peoples brain you should know how it all works at least. Overall his schedule looked pretty typical for a first year at college apart from his major and minor which was different for everyone. Ventus wanted to do work with computers, apparently you could make buku money doing it and it was pretty easy, at least to him it was. If Sora went anywhere near a computer it was guaranteed to break. It made sense he was pursuing animals, he'd always had a huge soft spot for them. And of course Zexion had to choose one of the most ridiculous careers ever and pursue Genetics because according to him Genetics have the answers to everything including the beginning of the human race.

Roxas looked over at Ven who was staring at a wall, eyes glazed over, barely listening to Professor Ansem. Zexion sat on the other side of him meticulously taking notes, Roxas rolled his eyes, it was the first day, how much information was there? Sora was trying to balance on the back legs of his chair and balance a pencil on his nose at the same time. How he didn't fall was beyond Roxas.

"Hai Minasan," said Professor Ansem, "homework is memorizing the Hiragana and Katakana charts both written and spoken and how to properly introduce yourselves in Japanese, next class each of you will introduce themselves to the class, Jaa, I will see you all on Thursday, Arigato Gozaimasu, class is dismissed." He bowed as the class stood up and bowed back then shuffled to grab their stuff and exit the class.

"Let's grab lunch, I'm STarviinng," whined Sora as they all left the classroom together.

"When are you not hungry Sora?" asked Ventus as he nudged him in the shoulder playfully.

"I'm pretty sure Sora's hungry even when he's asleep," laughed Roxas as he shoved his schedule into his bag and swung it over his shoulder.

"Is that why I'm always dreaming about eating pizza?" asked Sora as he pulled out his map to locate the Galley.

Zexion trailed behind them, nose in a book like usual, following them based on sound and occasional glancing. What he didn't notice was the crack in the pavement that everyone else had walked over. He landed on the ground, palms scraping the pavement as he tried to catch himself, his book flying into the grass.

"Holy Shit are you ok?" a voice behind him asked.

Shifting to his hands and knees Zexion looked behind him to see the blonde guy from earlier.

"Fuuuccckk" hissed Zexion blushing as he tried to get up.

"Here, let me help you, " said the stranger, taking his arm and helping Zexion to his feet.

Sora, Roxas and Ventus had turned at the sound of Zexion hitting the ground but held off helping him after seeing the stranger rush to help him. They stood to the side frozen with inaction and watched while exchanging glances with each other. Zexion didn't like to be touched by random people.

"Oh, uhm…thanks," said Zexion quietly as he was helped up, doing his best to put a little bit of distance between him and the stranger. His arm seemed to tingle where the stranger had touched him. He looked around for his fallen book, trying to control the flush of embarrassment in his face. He fixed his hair as he looked around, making sure his right eye was covered.

"Let me get your book," said the stranger, stooping to pick it up right as Zexion reached down to grab it too making them hit their heads against each other in their haste to retrieve it.

"AAaah fuck," exclaimed the stranger, stumbling back a bit clutching his hand and Zexions book to his head.

"Oh my gods, I'm so sorry!" exclaimed Zexion, grabbing his own head where the man had hit it. "Are you ok?"

"YEah, has anyone told you that you've got a really hard skull?" he asked, chuckling a bit.

"Uhm….no," said Zexion, trying his best to control the flush in his cheeks as he looked at the stranger.

"Well, let me be the first to inform you about it, " said the man as he grimaced a smile towards him, still rubbing his head a bit where Zexion had accidentally collided with him. Zexion felt his heart lurch at seeing the smile, part of him heavily questioned his reaction while another part just wanted to see it again.

"I'm Demyx by the way," said the stranger reaching out his hand to Zexion and realizing the book was still in it, "Oh, uhm, here's your book back.

"T-Thank you, stammered Zexion, taking the book back and holding it to his chest, "Uhm, I'm Zexion,"

"Zexion," said Demyx slowly, as if he was testing the way his name felt in his mouth. Zexion shivered a little at hearing his name so casually spoken by Demyx. "I like it," he beamed at Zexion, his eyes sparkling. Zexion tried not to stare, there it was again. His smile, it seemed to make the day brighter, as if the sun was shining their favorite rays onto him, making Demyx shine just a little more than everyone else. His blue-green eyes were half-closed from the force of his smile that he'd directed at him. Demyx was….gorgeous, there just wasn't another word to describe him that he could think of. He was wearing ripped jeans and a white t-shirt with black and white converse. Such a simple outfit but Demyx seemed to wear it like a Calvin Klein model. He had several hoops in both of his ears and a silver industrial bar in his left one. On his left wrist he had a spiked wrist cuff and a silver chain with a weird heart shaped cross symbol hung around his neck.

*A phone buzzed in a pocket*

"Ope," said Demyx pulling out his phone he glanced at the message, "Ah, I uh, I gotta go now uhm, I'll see you around then…Zexion," said Demyx, smiling and walking backwards, towards Sora, Roxas and Ventus who were still frozen in place, mouths slightly open at the scene they'd just witnessed.

"Oh, uhm ok, bye…Demyx," said Zexion quietly as he watched Demyx jog off.

There was a moment of silence and then, "OH MY GODS ZEXION WHAT WAS THAT?!" squealed Sora as he bounced up to him.

"What was what?" said Zexion, still slightly dazed after his first encounter with Demyx.

"THat Whole Entire THing?!" exclaimed Sora practically vibrating with excitement over Zexion's interaction.

Zexion drowned out Sora's voice as he thought what really was all that? Why did he make me feel soo bare? No that's not the right word…..open? No that's not it either….put off? No, that's still not right. Zexion huffed in frustration at his own inability to process his emotional state and started walking in the direction of the Galley, Sora, Ventus and Roxas following behind chattering excitedly about what they'd just witnessed. What is it about him that is causing my brain to shut off? I mean sure his eyes sparkled like the sun dancing across the water, and he did go out of his way to help me after I fell; Uuuugggh how EmBArassing! Did I really just do that?! Get your shit together Zexion! Shaking his head to try and clear his thoughts he tuned back into the conversation behind him right as Ventus nudged him in the ribs.

"SOOoo Zexion, when are you going to ask him out?" asked Ventus, grinning widely.

"What makes you think I'm even interested in him at all?

"Weeeelll normally when people try to touch you in any way shape or form your pretty quick to tell them off aaand I didn't hear a word of protest coming from you the whole time."

"So what, that means I like him?"

"I meaaann when was the last time you let someone near you who wasn't one of us?"

"...I see your point but again where did you get the idea that I liked him?"

Ventus huffed in annoyance "If you don't want to admit it then fine but I'll be here when you do."

There was a pause and then " I don't know how I feel about him yet, I just met him, all I know is that the world seems to shine a little brighter when I look at him."

"Wooooww Zex, that's like a confession of love coming from you," said Sora, joining in randomly.

"Shut up Sora," said Zexion, Ventus and Roxas as they entered the Galley and got in line to order.

"WHat?! I'm just saying! Jeez!" said Sora, looking a little wounded at the admonishment from his friends. He looked around the cafe as the line moved forward. It was pirate ship themed with blue waves on the upper half and wooden ship boards lining the lower half. There were nets containing fake fish and crabs hanging from some of the smaller walls that were lined with various tables, chairs, couches and coffee tables all containing an assortment of college students lounging while they ate, drank, chatted and studied. Lanterns hung from the ceiling over smaller cafe tables giving it an overall cozy atmosphere despite the mildly cheesy decor. His gaze landed on a table near the back and he froze. Sitting at the table was the group they'd noticed earlier this morning. The redhead and the black haired ones had their backs to him and facing him were Demyx and…..him. Sora didn't know his name but fuck, he wished he did. He had long silver-gray hair with bangs that just barely covered his eyes and went down to just past his shoulders. He was wearing baggy gray cargo pants and a black tank top that hugged his body. Even from where he was standing in line he could tell that the man DEfinitely worked out. His arms and shoulders were well muscled and his pecs oooooff Sora wanted to bite them more than anything else. He was wondering if the man would be able to lift him up or not when he realized that his staring had not gone unnoticed. Sora couldn't tell exactly what color his eyes were from this distance, blue? maybe? or green? it was hard to judge, but he could tell that they were on him. They seemed to pierce right through him, making his breath catch in his throat for a second. He could feel his heart start to feel like it was racing and his chest ached as if he couldn't get enough air into his lungs. A silvery eyebrow raised in his direction and a smirk seemed to play around the mans lips, fuuck he wanted, no, NEeded to know what those lips would feel like on his skin. He felt his skin flush at the thought of it and goosebumps race down his arms.

"Sora!" said Roxas snapping fingers in front of his face.

"Huh! Wha?" said Sora blinking rapidly and focusing on Roxas' face.

"I was asking you what you wanted to order for lunch." he said, rolling his eyes.

"Oh, uuuhh," he quickly scanned the menu and saw there were various kinds of burgers available. "I'll just take a normal cheeseburger and fries."

"What about a drink?"

"Uh, chocolate milkshake please."

"Of course you'd want a milkshake."

"What? They're delicious, why wouldn't I want one?!"

"You're hyper enough as it is, why would you want more sugar?"

"Ok, first of all, you KNow I have ADHD, so sugar barely even effects me and secondly who the fuck are you to judge what I put in my body Mr. Drinks a Monster every day?"

"Sora we all have ADHD, well maybe not Zexion, but Ven and I definitely have it, and leave my monsters alone, I drink the zero sugar ones so they're not nneaarly as bad as you say they are."

"Yes, they fucking are, zero sugar or not monsters are still not good for you so leave my milkshakes alone!"

"Fine, but when you get diabetes, I'm definitely going to say I told you so."

Sora rolled his eyes as Roxas turned back to the front to wait for their turn, which was next, and looked back over at the table where the silver-haired man had been sitting. He seemed to be laughing at something one of the other guys had said, no longer paying attention to Sora, much to his disappointment.

After they got their food they joined Zexion and Ventus on a couch by the window. Finally having food in his possession, Sora dug in with much enthusiasm, cheeseburgers were his absolute favorite! Ventus chuckled watching Sora practically inhale his burger as fast as his mouth would allow him. It did look pretty good, but alas, no food for him today. He'd weighed himself this morning and he was 2 pounds heavier than last week, it was probably from that slice of cake he'd had on Saturday in celebration of Roxas and his first day of college. He sipped his water and looked around the cafe, letting the conversation wash over him as he contemplated his schedule for the rest of the day. Introduction to Psychology was his last class and while he did kind of understand why it was necessary, overall he felt it was useless for what he needed to get his Bachelors in IT. Seriously, why was it necessary? He wasn't planning to be around people a whole bunch, he enjoyed the hum of server racks and figuring out how to make computers run in smoothly. His parents were always asking him to look at their various devices to figure out what was wrong and why. A sharp bark of laughter drew him out of his thoughts, he looked behind him and spotted the group of men they'd seen earlier this morning walking towards them. His breath caught in his throat as his eyes landed on the dark haired one. By the fucking Gods he was stunning. Ventus didn't realize he'd had a type until he'd seen this man. He wore a spiked and chained leather jacket over a red top and black ripped skinny jeans over black and white converse. On his wrist was a spiked bracelet and he wore a bandana around his neck, it looked like a skulled creature was on the front of it. Normally people that wore bandana's around their neck looked dumb as fuck but on him, it was effortless. Ventus knew he was staring but he literally couldn't help it, the guy was hot. His eyes traveled up to his face, saving the best part of his check out for last, his face. He had his bottom lip pierced, pierced ears, and a pierced eyebrow. Arched and hooded eyebrows sat over piercing golden eyes, eyes that were, fuck they were looking right at him. Shit, he wasn't supposed to notice! The group was almost upon them now and golden eyes had locked Ventus into place on his couch.

"Shit shit shit shit think of something quick, look away, BLINK for fucks sake what is wrong with you!?"

Ventus continued to mentally berate himself as an eyebrow on the mans face arched up words and his mouth quirked up into a smirk almost as if he knew what was going through Ventus' panic stricken mind. And just when it looked as if the group had reached their spot, they didn't, they walked right past it and out the door. How the fuck had he forgetten that they'd been sitting next to the door. Of course the man hadn't been coming to talk to him but fuck did he want him too.
