Chapter Thirteen:

Fight for The Constitution

Alarms sounded throughout the Library of Congress as soon as the security cameras focused on the Constitution held by Mario and Bowser. In a second, every guard in the building and outside the building were heading their way, all weapons ready. Bowser nodded to the fat Italian, telling him they had to get out of there pronto.

Mario nodded and he ran towards the railing with the Koopa King behind him, they leaped over the edge and Mario brought out a para-glider from his inventory, slowing his descent to the lower floor of the Library of Congress while Bowser dropped quickly due to his weight.

They made a break for the exit with the Constitution in their grasp, guards swarmed the room, all weapons ready. Swag and Chris appeared alongside Greg and Mark, firmly holding their guns.

"Swigglety swooty! I'm gonna do the shoot-y!" Swag cried.

Bowser curled up into a spiked ball and rolled towards the group of soldiers blocking the path, causing them to scatter. Mario ducked whenever a guard tried to grab him and he kicked Sgt. Mark in the leg. He tucked the Constitution in his pocket and made his way to the door, Bowser smashed through first and they ran down the steps as more guards came after them.

"LUIGI, START THE ENGINES!" Mario screamed.

Luigi was busy cleaning up the truck when he spotted Mario and Bowser running down the steps, one of the guards next to the green Italian looked at Luigi with surprise while glancing at Mario and Bowser before looking back at Mario's little brother.

"Don't look at me! I didn't know they were tagging along!" Luigi protested.

"SOMEONE STOP THEM!" A guard cried.

Mario reached the truck and kicked down the nearby guard, then he and Bowser dove into the back, disrupting Luigi's flowers again.

"DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!" Mario shouted.

Luigi scrambled to the driver's seat and started up the ignition. He pulled away from the Library of Congress and sped down the street, driving as fast as he could while the guards opened fire, trying to take out the truck. Luigi swerved, avoiding the gunfire that threatened to ruin his delivery ride and the flowers.

"What were you doing, Mario?" Luigi cried.

"Stealing the Constitution!" Bowser replied.

"YOU STOLE THE CONSTITUTION?!" Luigi looked at Mario with shock, "MARIO, WHAT ARE YOU...?"

"We're going to make Mar10 Day a reality!" Mario told his brother.

"LETS JUST GET TO SAFETY FIRST!" Bowser roared.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU USED ME TO GET YOU TO CONGRESS TO STEAL THE CONSTITUTION!" Luigi wailed, "YOU KNOW HOW TO GIVE PEOPLE ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE, MARIO! AND WHY DID YOU BRING BOWSER ALONG?!"

"Mario promised him chicken nuggets." The red plumber said with a thumbs up.

"YOU BRIBED BOWSER WITH CHICKEN NUGGETS?!"

Weeooo-weeooo-weeooo! Cop cars were now in pursuit, alerted by security, and Luigi could see them in the rear-view mirror. He rolled his eyes with annoyance, knowing that he was wrapped up in another misadventure with Mario that landed them in the eyes of the authorities. And it was all thanks to Mario nabbing the Constitution just to make Mar10 Day an actual holiday!

Bowser smashed open the back door of Luigi's flower truck, glaring down the pursuing police cars. The Koopa King brought out a Bullet Bill launcher and fired off several Bills at the cops, he and Mario watched as the cars swerved and the Bullet Bills exploded in the streets.

One cop car rushed towards the truck and a cop leaned out of the window with a megaphone and gun in hand. "TURN OVER THE CONSTITUTION AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!" The cop declared, "ALL CRIMINAL ACTIVITY WILL CEASE AT ONCE! WILL THE OWNER OF A FLOWER TRUCK PLEASE PULL OVER AND LET US SEE YOUR LICENSE?!"

He was not going to have it. Bowser opened his mouth and let off a stream of fire at the cop car, causing it to smolder, and the cop pulled away while dropping his megaphone into the street.

Luigi trembled as he hit the gas, driving faster until he, Mario and Bowser had made it through the city limits, but the authorities were still in pursuit. A pair of tanks came into view, the guns aimed at the flower truck, Mario and Bowser.

Fierce explosions rocked the road, caused by tank artillery, and Luigi swerved as fast as he could to avoid getting blasted.

"HAND OVER THE CONSTITUTION!" Someone shouted through the megaphone.

"Hey, Mario. I think you should do as they say!" Luigi suggested.

An army bike driven by none other than Swag and Sergeant Mark rolled towards the truck with Mark at the wheel and Swag holding a rocket launcher.

"No one gets away with the Constitution, so give it up before someone gets hurt!" Swag yelled.

"Whoa! Mario's getting prison escape vibes!" Mario exclaimed.

"I'm comin' to get it!"

Swagmaster jumped from his bike and landed inside the truck, causing Luigi to freak out. Mario and Bowser stood their ground, determined to hold onto the Constitution for as long as possible until they'd achieved their goal. Bowser grabbed a sunflower pot and threw it at Swag, causing the pot to break as soil fell all over the guard's face.

"Ugly ass flower!" Swag exclaimed, picking up part of a sunflower, "So damn ugly!"

He lunged at Mario, who punched him in the face. Swag stumbled back, nearly falling out of the truck. The dim-witted guard regained his footing in time and brought out a pistol, threatening to pull the trigger on both Bowser and Mario if they didn't comply with the demands to hand over the Constitution.

BWOOSH! Bowser sent a volley of fire at Swag, singeing part of his hair, and the guard yelped, dropping his guns with surprise. Swag was so distracted, Mario kicked him hard, and knocked him out of the truck onto Sgt. Mark.

"Ahhh!" Mark cried.

"Damn it, Marioooooooo!" Swag howled.

Bowser threw a Bob-Omb from his inventory into the street and the explosion caused the bike to crash, knocking out Swag and Mark at the same time. Bowser then unleashed another payload of Bullet Bills at the pursuing tanks and cop cars. The tanks' treads exploded and the cop cars went crashing, all knocked off course by the Bullet Bill barrage.

With their pursuers off their tail, Mario and Bowser shared a high-five while Luigi breathed a slight sigh of relief. Now there was one more matter, the reason Mario had taken the Constitution in the first place; Mar10 Day.

Mario brought out a glowing pen, examined the Constitution itself, and wrote Mar10 Day = National Holiday onto it. Bowser pulled out his phone and looked at the calendar app, seeing a Mario head appear in the March 10th side of the March calendar. He then checked the news, his eyes widening, as he saw the announcement popping up on all news feeds:

Mar10 Day Becomes an Official Holiday.

"Mama Mia!" Mario exclaimed when Bowser showed him what was going on. They'd done the impossible, now they could enjoy the big day when it finally came, and there were so many ideas that Mario had in mind for the big day.

"Wait a second..." Bowser raised his hand, "Don't forget what you promised me."

"Right-o!" Mario remembered and wrote 'Bowser Chicken Nugget Day' on the constitution under Mar10 Day. Bowser grinned and whooped, then he high-fived Mario once more, as Luigi drove onward into the night.

As they headed home, Mario and Bowser looked at the Constitution. Their work was done, but they knew they couldn't keep it. The Constitution had to be returned to the Library of Congress soon...
