Chapter Forty Five:

Luna Lovegood's request to go down to the Black Lake in order to take her powers for a test drive and see what changes her reincarnation as Enuma's second Bishop had caused was not only understandable but also expected. The white haired girl's fellow Demon-Ship, Hermione Granger, had done pretty much the same thing after her reincarnation as Enuma's first Knight. Despite the fact that the two had similar powers, the difference between not only the kind of Warship and their mastery of said powers became very clear during the test.

Unlike Hermione, Luna's Ship-Girl-form didn't have any mechanical additions attached to the white haired girl's body. Instead, she could instantly summon multiple crimson throwing star-like objects to her hands which, when thrown, would transform into full sized airplanes of various types that Luna could apparently control remotely with her mind. According to the Demon-Ship with Kitsune-like features, the color of the throwing star-like objects was different from the one they were before, namely blue, and it felt like it was easier to control the airplanes with her mind, which meant that she could most likely control a larger quantity of them at the same time than she could before. And considering the kinds of aircrafts that the Kaga carried, among which were Aichi D3A Type 99 Carrier Bombers, it was quite obvious what type of Bishop Luna would be in the Peerage. Anti-air and strategic and/or carpet bombing.

"Scheißen. Too bad that most of your skill set is quite ill suited for fighting in small spaces." Muttered Hermione to herself, seemingly as a way to make herself feel less envious of her fellow Demon-Ship. It seemed however that she wasn't quiet enough as she quickly found herself on the receiving end of everyone's attention. "What?"

"That's actually a good point. Actually, now that I think about it, most of us don't have skill sets that work well in closed spaces, like indoors." Replied Enuma with a thoughtful expression on her face. "Something to correct, as much as possible, at a later time."

"Indeed. The only one who can properly fight indoors is probably just me and maybe Aura. And that's a big maybe for her." Stated Shalltear with no small amount of pride.

"*sigh* Shalltear."

"Yes?"

"The next that comes out of your mouth better be something that helps solve our problem or you'll be having nothing but blood bags and you're banned from video games. For a month."

"You're bluffing."

"Am I?"

"Fine. Hermione. You need to learn how to wield your anchor properly, not only indoors but in general. Rapid movement and ranged offense might be good but there will be situations where close to medium range combat is the only option. I suggest you look into kusarigamajutsu considering that's the closest to how you would wield your anchor."

"Understood." Replied Hermione nervously.

"Mare."

"Yes?" Replied the Nature Mage in question nervously.

"My advice for you is to learn how to fight with a staff, there's always more than one way to wield a long enough stick. I suggest looking into various styles focusing on polearms. Bojutsu or spearmanship would be a good place to start looking. Aura."

"Yeah?"

"You need to learn how to use the environment and your skills in acrobatics to your advantage. I can't believe I'm saying this but the best thing I can suggest is to watch and study everything you can where the character, whose weapon yours is essentially a fully functional replica of, appears in."

"Got it. Should be interesting."

"Luna."

"Hai!"

"I'm not sure about what to do with you. I haven't seen enough to have a solid idea of how to make you improve."

"I'm not sure, but I think I already have something."

"Oh? Let's hear it then."

"Hokuto Shin-Ken."

"You do know that style of martial arts is fictional and usually causes things to explode from the inside out right?"

"So?"

"You know what? You show me enough to impress me and I'll let you continue training in that style."

"Yay! Omae wa mou shindeiru!" Exclaimed Luna excitedly while rapidly punching the air.

"Enuma. You need to learn how to select the most appropriate weapon for the right situation and make sure that the only one getting hurt is your opponent."

"Gotcha. Thanks Shalltear."

"You're welcome. Any questions?"

"Uhm…"

"Yes Hermione?"

"How do you know all that?"

"I have literal centuries of experience in mortal combat and I didn't just sit around when I wasn't on the battlefield. I studied a lot over the centuries. Including martial arts and various other things. I'm pretty sure I could obtain more than a few degrees or even masteries if I put my mind to it. Does that answer your question?"

"Yes."
