The full moon wanes ominously behind a patch of dark clouds as a cluster of bats takes flight into the foggy night skies. As if on queue, a light drop of rain begins to pour.
Distant sea waves are slowly rocking into a toll. Its dark tides slowly stretch out its salty body of foam like a creature of the night scouring out its prey. If one were to squint, a low fog could be seen slowly creeping along the fathom waters. Further into the midnight abyss, an old Victorian ship can be seen slowly pulling its vast size into view. A dimly lit glow paled its light from the masts across the waters, panning closer and closer. All the while, the dark sea continues to roll into the ship's bow.
The scene leaves viewers with a dreary sense of eeriness.
Within seconds, the camera view takes a quick dip towards the haunted-like sea vessel as two dark shadows swiftly immerse into the spotlight. One slightly shorter than the other with a strikingly familiar silhouette is first to take center stage. However, both dress to kill in dark-colored trench coats, matching hats, and umbrellas. The slimmer of the duo had a trademark smirk and boyish charm, while the other had a signature resting grouch face that any television fan would immediately pick up on from a mile away.
"Well, good evening boys and ghouls!" The leaner of the two greets enthusiastically. "This's your favorite host with the most, Chris McLean coming at you live all the way from the chilling waters of Deadman's Cove," Chris begins with zest while gesturing to his partner in crime. "with Chef Hatchet. "
The chef gives a sharp nod, though not enthused while standing beside Chris holding his umbrella like a drowned rat.
"For tonight's show, we've got something extra spooktacular just for you." The host closes his umbrella while folding his hands behind his back in a casual manner.
Chris McLean begins to pace closer to the audience along the ship's deck as he goes on in a chilling voice, "On these very waters, on a snowy November evening in 1908 the SS Dorsetshire vanished on Deadman's Cove with its crew of 24. The wreck and crew have never been recovered, though since that fateful day this steamship acquired quite the reputation. An apparition of this Ghost Ship would often be seen during icy Deadman's Cove storms by many sailors. Some even claimed to see skeletons on deck. It became known as the "Flying Dutchman" of the Great Lakes.
"And just like that, you'll be hooked on it before you can touch that remote!" Chris goes on while pretending to reel up a fishing rod.
Chef Hatchet gives Chris a deadpan stare. "That was awful, and you know it."
Rolling his eyes and shuffling through his cards, Chris continues, "As I was saying before someone started whining...," (Gives Chef a look) "this season of Total Drama...is a reboot for our Supernatural Special...Total Drama: Supernatural Race of Horror that got canceled for some unseen reason! Same contestants of the supernatural kind. Same spooks and scares. Same deadly challenges. Same..."
"Cheap thrills..." Chef Hatchet added tossing his cheap umbrella to the side.
"Chef," Chris warned as the tall chef gave a sheepish grin.
Clearing his throat, Chris tosses a card over his shoulder not caring where it landed, "Only difference is due to financial reasons and lack of funding for our amazing program, the supernatural cast has been downsized from 26 contestants to now 24. On one good note, two of the former contestants have agreed to return for this year's season."
"Who?" Chef Hatchet raised an eyebrow mildly piqued, then mutters to himself, "No one told me about this."
"I'm not telling!" As if he was about to have a hissy fit, Chris crosses his arms pouting while Chef groans rubbing his temples groaning about him getting too old for this.
Ignoring his counterpart as a wide grin suddenly spreads across his face, Chris doesn't miss a beat, " Only one way to find out, and that's on Total Drama: Supernatural Reboot!"
"But before we head to commercials, here's a quick flashback from last season's show to get you caught up...," Chris continues as the camera does a replay of the previous season's opening.
"...In the dark of the night, a pair of dark swirling clouds roll back and reveal a pale full moon. The wind is howling eerily through some of the old oak trees, their branches clawing at the air as though in an attempt to grab some unseen force. An owl swoops down from a nearby tree as it hoots in an eerie pitch and flies away out of sight. Standing not too far off are two dark figures in the middle of a creepy-looking cemetery as the camera swiftly pans over several old-cracked and decaying tombstones and finally lands on the pair; getting a close-up of their hidden faces. Chris McLean steps out further into the moonlight to be properly seen while followed by his sidekick and co-host Chef.
Chris smiles his iconic trademark smile as he clasps his hands together with an excited look flickering in his eyes and says, "Hello fellow audiences. This is Chris McLean coming at you live and I'm standing here with Chef in what is said to be one of the most haunted grave-sites in the world!"
He stretches out his arms in a dramatic way to emphasize his point while Chef rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest looking as though he'd rather be anywhere but here.
Chris continues ignoring Chef as he folds his hands behind his back with that confident smirk of his while saying, "Now you're probably wondering why we're both out lurking around in the land of eternal slumber. Well...audience members we've done it again! But this time we're going all out because this year we're about to unleash a whole new season of Total Drama! Where thirteen unlucky...I mean (coughs) fortunate contestants...and not just your average contestants, but of the supernatural kind will compete in this year's season where the challenges only get harder and much scarier than EVER! They will go on ghastly trips all around the world and explore abandoned amusement parks, and haunted rundown hotels while battling their most inner fears in hopes of winning the big bucks! We're talking 10 million moola!"
The camera zooms forwards and gets a close-up of Chris's face as he sells his next feed line, "Will they survive on this season of Total Drama? Or...will they get the heebie-jeebies and go crying home to their mamas? Will hearts be broken among this season of boys and ghouls? Find out, on this year's season of Total Drama...The Supernatural...Race of...Horror!"
The camera cuts and takes to a commercial as Chef looks warily at Chris and says, "Man, you sure about this? Supernatural beings? And why thirteen of them?"
Chris gives Chef a cocky smirk while teasing him and says in a childish tone of voice, "Aww...is Chef getting cold feet? You're not superstitious now are you?"
Chef gives Chris an annoyed look while rolling his eyes again and says no while muttering out loud, "You're jokes are still lame."
The total drama host cocks an eyebrow with an irritable look but ignores his comment and says in a more serious tone as he pulls out his phone and adds, "Good then. I got a couple of calls to make and then this little baby will be set."
"I'm telling you Chef the ratings are going to go through the roof...," Both TV host and co-host/cook start to exit the grave site as Chris continues to trail off."...
For this SYOC, we'll have 12 boys and 12 girls. I will not be adding my own, I prefer to give that extra slot to someone else and give them a go at it. As a heads up you can also find this app on my wall for easier access.
1.) The supernatural beings will consist of races like vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, banshees, witches, etc. you name it. If you know of another that is not listed, you are free to send them in.
2.) Please send your characters through PM, and save the reviews for reviewing.
3.) Be detailed and creative with your character. It'll help in the long run for me to get a better understanding of your character's personality and traits.
4.) I wanna see some characters with flaws and quirks because no character is perfect. Don't send in any Mary Sues or Gary Stus, please. I'd liked to see a broad range of different characters. Villains included. Also, take your time and have fun with it. No rush on my end!
5.) You may also use whatever nationality you want even if someone else has used it, but a variety of different nationalities would be nice too.
6.) Send in as many characters as you want, but keep in mind the most I'll accept from one author at a time is 2 max.
7.) I may have to up the rating later because I'm allowing swearing among characters and possibly hinted lemon/related scenes in this one which is why the ages in the app are up, that and Chris will explain more on that later. So feel free to let your inner demons out! lol
Okay, I think I cover everything. If not, I'll add more in another chapter/update. The app is listed below! Peace! And remember to have fun! ;)
