The entrie company stood silent beside the tomb of Balin, the Lord of Moria. Frodo thought of Bilbo and his long friendship with the dwarf, and of Balin's visit to the Shire long ago. The chamber in the mountains seemed at least a thousand years old and on the other side of the world. Everywhere around the chamber, there were corpses lying on the ground, for the group came to a point that the last of the survivors chose to make their last stand at this very spot just as the goblins began to pour inside.
While the others were giving Gimli as much support for the lost of his cousin Balin, who was killed many years ago, Gandalf turns to notice the corpse of a fallen dwarf, who had been shot two times in the chest by goblin arrows many years ago. The body was leaning against the tomb of Balin the Storyteller, but what Gandalf had noticed was that the dwarf had been holding a arge, battered, and very old book. Concerned and curious, he came to believe that the answer in that book might have the answer as to what had really happened before. Deciding to look into it, Gandalf then hands his staff and hat over to Pippin, who was confused as to why the wizard would give them to him in the first place. He gently takes the book from the grasp of its owner, and once he opens it, seversl blank pages fell out of it. Placing the book on the top of the crypt, he blows off the dust and takes a moment to read the words that were all in dwarvish.
Legolas, on the other note, looked kinda worried since he could sense something approaching from the darkness. He knew right away that the group had to move on, otherwise, they'll share the same fate as the colonists. He walks over to Aragorn and Natasha, whispering to them urgently, "We must move on. We cannot linger."
"Yeah, your right," Natasha quietly agreed to the elven prince. "We need to leave. Cause I have the feeling in the pit of stomach that something might be coming and will be next to perish."
Erik Selvig, along with the rest of the group, were curious as to what Gandalf was looking it from that book, and began to ask, "What does it say?"
"It seems to be a record of the fortunes of Balin and his colonists," Gandalf answered his question while carefully reading the book. "I guess that it began with their coming to the Dimrill Dale over... thirty years ago."
"Thirty years ago?" Burnett scoffed.
"So I guess this fight did take place decades ago," Bobbi stated.
"So how did the dwarves write this all down before the attack happened?" Agent Fitz asked. "Did they know that it was too dangerous to come back?"
"Well, for what we know is, the dwarves really did it," Albion said. "They wanted to take back this city and look what happened."
"Whatever this was, it was suicide," Natasha claimed, thinking that the dwarves should've thought carefully if they known that goblins were present in this realm in the first place.
"Well for what we can see right now, it seems that these pages have numbers referring to the years after their arrival," Agent Simmons scanned the book too. "The top page is marked one – three, so at least two are missing from the beginning."
"Missing pages, the dwarves might've left clues here as to what had happened," Darcy stated.
"Darcy's right, it all makes sense," Doctor Foster agreed. "The clues were put in that book, probably as a warning incase if people, like us, would learn the truth about the enemy invaders."
"Which is why if others across Middle-Earth would ever plan to find any lost treasure here, such as Mithril for example, people, like us, would have to warn them about the dangers of this realm," Doctor Selvig said. "If no one warns them, then they will be ready to fall directly into this exact death trap. This is why Dain was concerned about mere rumors. Its what he told me before we left Rivendell. That is why he never wanted to take this terrible risk in sending more of his own people to the mines. Besides, even if we have a chance to escape this place, we could warn others, including King Dain, about what we uncovered. We could be saving more lives that way." He turns to Natasha. "Isn't that right, Natasha Romanoff? I know an Avenger would agree to this. Would you?"
"Yes," Natasha nodded her head. "We have to warn them about this."
"I agree too," Quake agreed to this. "Besides, we already know what happened, so now we should think about leaving."
"So that's why this poor lad had a chance to write everything down before his demise," Albion sighed.
"Whatever he wrote in that book, it must've been a serious reason,"
"Gandalf, do you think its possible that these clues are all there?" Agent Fortunov asked.
"Yes, I believe so," Gandalf answered.
"Well if that is, then what does it say?" Agent Fitz asked, insisting to find out.
"Well you wish to know, then let me proceed," Gandalf cleared his throat and went on to read everything that the dwarf wrote years ago. "We drove out the orcs from the great gate." He paused for a moment since he could see that the next word was a bit blurred. "We slew many in the bright sun in the dale. Flói was killed by an arrow, but was able to kill the great Orc Chieftain. We have taken the twenty-first hall of the North end to dwell in. Then Balin has set up his seat in the Chamber of Mazarbul."
"The Chamber of what?" Darcy murmured in confusion.
"And I guess this is where we are now," Doctor Foster stated her fact as she looked around the chamber.
"Yes, its the Chamber of Records," Aragorn said to her.
"Its a place where they set up their own records, writing everything down about this realm," Doctor Selvig said. "They can even save a lot of ideas on how they can expand this realm and to uncover a lot."
"Well you should keep reading, Mr. Gandalf," Quake insisted.
"I can read no more for a long way," Gandalf said.
"But don't stop now, what else happened?" Natasha insisted for the wizard to keep on reading.
"Balin is now lord of Moria," Gandalf continued to read.
"Ori," Gimli responded in sorrow. "He could write well. He must've wrote it."
"I fear he had ill tidings to record in a fair hand," Doctor Selvig said.
"Yes, and the first clear word is sorrow," Gandalf said and continued. "Lord Balin went alone to look in Mirror mere. A goblin warrior shot him from behind a stone. We slew the creature, but many more... up from the east side of Silverlode."
"Well, I guess the mystery is solved," Natasha stated her facts which was proven to be true.
"So that's what happened?" Agent Fortunov asked.
"Poor guy, he really didn't deserve it," Bobbi expressed her sorrow to the dwarven lord.
"The remainder of the page is so blurred that I can hardly make anything out," Gandalf said.
Erik Selvig decided to help out by taking his glasses and takes a moment to put them on. He studies the book very carefully. "Some of these words, they're not dwarven. It seems that the writer must've wrote these in english, probably just incase if anyone would know what happened."
"What do the words say?" Agent Simmons asked, curious.
"If I may, Mr. Gandalf," Doctor Selvig insisted to take a turn in reading the book.
"Be my guest," Gandalf accepted Selvig's offer to take over.
"We have barred the gates, and then can hold them long," Doctor Selvig read and paused for a moment.
"What, what is it?" Quake asked, concerned and worried as to what it says.
"Selvig, whatever your seeing, I think its starting to spook us," Darcy said.
"Its what I feared," Doctor Selvig sighed. "Their end may have been very cruel."
"How cruel?" Albion demanded a specific answer to all this.
"We cannot get out," Doctor Selvig continued to read. "We cannot get out. They have taken the Bridge and the second hall. Frár, Lóni, and Náli fell there. The pool is up to the wall at the western gate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin. We cannot get out. The end comes, and then the drums, drums in the deep."
"Drums in the deep," Darcia breathed fearfully.
"What does that even mean about drums in the deep?" Ranger Slade curiously asked.
"I don't know," Doctor Selvig answered with a sigh. "But what the last words that this poor writer added was, 'They are coming'."
A sudden dread and a horror of the chamber fell on the entire company. Now the answer has been solved. This chamber was the very place where the last of the dwarves made their last stand against the goblins.
"Okay, now I'm really scared," Darcy responded in a very frightening tone. "We're gonna die."
"It was well for us that the pool had sunk a little, and that the Watcher was sleeping down at the southern end," Gimli muttered.
"This is a nightmare," Agent Fitz scoffed in utter shock with his mouth open.
"Same here Mr. Fitz, so now lets just get the hell out of this place before we're next," Darcy said in a panic and breathed heavily since she didn't want to suffer the same fate as Balin and the rest of the colonists.
"Darcy's right," Burnett agreed to what his girlfriend had said. "I think we stayed here far too long."
"The dwarves knew they couldn't get themselves out of this place," Bobbi said. "Goblins poured everywhere. They took everything. The enemy surrounded every corner of this chamber and the dwarves tried to barricade themselves. There was nothing else they could do."
"And still the enemy managed to get in," Doctor Selvig added since he knew that a fight really happened here. "It all makes sense. This was their last stand. There were not many left by that time. So ended the attempt to retake Moria! It was valiant, but foolish."
"And none of us are going to make our last stand right now," Albion responded in a hast. "That's why we need to get the hell out of here now. Alright? So, we can go... now?"
"Yes," Gandalf nodded. "We are leaving. But first, we must say farewell to Balin son of Fundin. Here he must lie in the halls of his fathers. We will take this book, the Book of Mazarbul, and look at it more closely later." he turns to Erik Selvig. "Master Selvig, you had better keep it, and both you and Gimli will take it back to Dáin."
"It will interest him, but I know it will grieve him deeply," Doctor Selvig expressed his deep sorrow and looked at the light. "It seems the morning is passing. We should move before the light fades."
"But which way do we go next?" Doctor Foster asked.
"Back to the hall," Gandalf answered. "But our visit to this room has not been in vain. I now know where we are. As we all know, this is the Chamber of Mazarbul and the hall must be the twenty-first of the North-end. Therefore we should leave by the eastern arch of the hall, and bear right and south, and go downwards. The Twenty-first Hall should be on the Seventh Level, that is six above the level of the Gates."
"So you know all about this realm after all, am I right?" Natasha grinned.
"That I do, my lady," Gandalf wearily answered.
"Well then, I guess I should say, 'Lead the way.'" Natasha insisted with a smile.
Before everyone in the group was planning to make their leave at once in order to being the next victims to the goblins, Pippin, on the other note, was known to be a very curious hobbit. Even while holding Gandalf's hat and staff, Pippin spotted a corpse that was sitting by a stone well. Curiously, he reaches out a hand to touch the arrow carefully. However, Pippin was not as careful that he thought he was. Just when he touched it, the head of the corpse breaks off from the rest and falls down backwards into the deep well, even causing a very loud clattering noise. The loud sound caused Jemma to gasp in fright when she heard it first. Jemma, Gandalf, and the rest of the group to swiftly spin around and stare directly at Pippin, but it seems it was too late to do anything since the hobbit did something that was not meant to happen.
That was when the rest of the corpse that the curious hobbit had touched suddenly too tumbled into the well, even dragging a bucket chain as well. Now, almost everyone in the group was terrified when they were hearing loud echoes that was now being heard throughout the mines, including hall to hall. Each new wave of noise caused Pippin to wince and grimace at the same time since he felt totally embarrassed for what he just did. Once the echoes had ended when the headless corpse had landed at the bottom of the unknown cavern of Moria, there was now silence. Jemma and Darcy were both afraid since they fear that noise might've alerted the enemy. As everyone have been holding their breath, nothing was heard. Seeing that nothing was happening that the enemy was nowhere in sight, the group breathe a sigh of relief and began to relax.
"Well, I guess we're in luck for that," Doctor Selvig sighed in relief and took a moment to relax like the others.
"Thank god nothing bad happened," Agent Fitz sighed too.
"Well that was something," Quake wearly sighed, but was not too thrilled as to what Pippin just did.
"Yeah, what a relief," Darcy sighed and pretended to laugh. "Ha, ha!"
Gandalf, on the other hand, was very furious as to what Pippin had just did and could not stand the hobbit's clumsiness any longer. An act like that could've made things worst.
"Fool of a Took!" Gandalf growled in fury as he closes the book very hard and walks over to the hobbit. "Throw yourself in next time and rid us of your stupidity!"
As he spoke, the angry wizard grabs the staff and hat from Pippin. Before Pippin could move, Bobbi grabs hold of his shirt. She too was very upset for what Pippin had just did.
"Next time, look down before touching something that isn't yours to play with," Bobbi warned him with fury in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," Pippin apologized to her and the others in the group. "It was an accident."
"Yeah, it may have been accident, but what you did was something clumsy," Bobbi added.
"Pippin, this is a serious journey, not some bloody hobbit walking-party that we're doing," Albion said.
"Okay, let's just drop it!" Bangs exclaimed. "Yes, it was an accident, but thank god nothing happened. So, let's just focus on getting the hell out of here."
"Agreed," Agent Fortunov nodded nervously. "This place may be a city, but it gives me the creeps as to what had happened before."
"Yeah, make that two, or three," Agent Red nodded his head.
"I think we've been here long enough," Agent Baines said. "So like she said, let's get out of here."
As the group prepare to leave at once and head towards the bridge, they suddenly stop when they hear the sound of a very loud rhythmic pounding that seemed to come from out of the well, but not just the well, the entrance of the chamber as well. Natasha, on the other hand, pulled out her revolver since she was ready to defend herself.
"What was that?" Quake whispered, sounding alarmed.
"I don't know," Ranger Slade whispered in alarm. "But I doubt its not good."
"It sounds like... a drum," Burnett described the sound.
"Yeah no sh** genius," Agent Fortunov sighed since he wasn't happy to hear a sound like that.
"It seems that the sound is coming from the depths far below," Doctor Selvig stated.
Terror creeps into each face of the group as the sound of these drums was starting to get louder and faster than ever. As the drumming was loud and fast, the group began to hear the echoes of numerous foul, high-pitching screeches and howls that were heard from the distance outside the chamber.
"Yeah, thanks for the update, cause now we're screwed," Albion said.
"Screwed, did we really do something?" Agent Simmons asked in a panic.
"I think we may have alerted the enemy," Doctor Selvig answered her.
Samwise Gamgee looks around until he noticed Frodo's sword glowing and gasped. "Frodo!"
The group were taken back when Frodo withdrew Sting to reveal its blade was glowing light blue. As screeching was getting close, Legolas, who had been listening to the sound very closely, knew right away as to who the enemy really was.
"Okay, so can somebody tell me what the hell we're facing now?" Agent Romanoff asked.
"Goblins!" Legolas proclaimed.
"Noted," Natasha nodded her head.
"Great, what are we going to do now?" Darcy panicked. "Oh dear, am I panicking. Yes, I'm panicking. Oh, sh**, we're going to die!"
"Doctor Lewis, the way your panicking is making Fitz and I panic!" Agent Simmons exclaimed fearfully.
"How was I suppose to know if this was going to happen?!" Darcy cried. "Oh wait, it did!"
"Darcy, now's not the time to panic," Doctor Foster encouraged her friend to take a breath. "I know your scared, but we need to work together in getting our asses out of here."
"Yeah well, it doesn't that there's any chance in getting our asses out of here," Albion said as the loud screeching goblins were getting closer. "Cause now we're trapped!"
Immediately, Boromir rushes over to the door and tries to find a way to lock it quickly. Suddenly, two arrows are shot and stick into the door, narrowly missing him.
"Did you get a good count?" Natasha asked the gondorian.
"There are goblins, very many of them!" Boromir loudly warned her and the rest of the group.
"Uh, like in how many exactly?" Agent Simmons asked in a panic.
"Hundreds, maybe more," Boromir answered.
"Okay hundreds, so is there any plan on what we do next?" Pat asked, concerned.
"Barricade the door!" Aragorn yelled as he drops his torch and turns to the hobbits. "Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin! Stay close to Gandalf! The rest of you, arm yourselves!"
Immediately, Gandalf chose to discard his hat on the floor and puts his arms around the four hobbits, who follow the wizard's example in drawing their swords out. Boromir tries to bar the doors shut, only to be assisted by Piper Baines, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, and Lincoln Slade. Legolas Greenleaf, Pat Smith, Jerry Fortunov, Soo-jin Smith, and James Davis quickly toss spears and axes to them as a way to help blockade the door.
"I take it we have a plan, right?" Natasha asked, holding out her revolver tightly since she was ready to engage.
"Yes... we fight," Aragorn answered.
"Noted," Natasha nodded.
"Young Burns told me you fight as a warrior and that you stand with a group called Avengers," Aragorn remarked.
"Well we're not in the Avengers as of now, but being around with different people might not be same," Natasha noted him.
"I can see why you have great skills," Aragorn remarked about her way. "But now, we must use all our strength to defend ourselves."
Once the doors were completly shut and barred, the group suddenly hear another sound. Thus sound was known to be a serious, but angry roar. It came to the fact the goblins might've had something really big from the other side of the doors.
"What was that?" Agent Baines asked, pulling out her weapon in defense.
"It seems they have a cave troll," Boromir wryly commented.
"Oh that's unfortunate," Albion sighed. "Just how big is it?"
"Its a very big and mean opponent than orcs and goblins," Boromir described, but wasn't specific enough.
"Well we faced a tentacle monster in a lake, so how worse can it be?" Bobbi asked.
"There is no hope to escape," Agent Fortunov said.
"And no hope at all, if they come through that door," Boromir said.
As the enemy was getting closer to the doors, each member within the group arrayed themselves in battle order. They draw out their weapons just as Gimli leaps atop his cousin's tomb and brandishes his axe as the doors were now being battered. In the front line from left to right stood Aragorn, Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Legolas Greenleaf, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Soo-jin Smith, Jeremy Fortunov, Piper Baines, and Boromir. Jane Foster, James Davis, Darcia Lewis, Joseph Burnett, Patricia Smith, Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, and Erik Selvig stood several inches from where Gandalf and the four hobbits were. Now in defensive position, the group prepare themselves to fight against the goblins.
"Ok, if this is where we're gonna die, then here we go," Darcy sighed nervously.
The front doors to the chamber were beginning to sway as the Goblins of Moria were using their own weapons to break them down to get to the Fellowship.
"Those doors aren't going to hold them," Natasha informed the others. "Better get ready for a fight."
"Aarghhh! Let them come!" Gimli growled defiantly since he was wanting to kill as many goblins to avenge his people that were killed. "There is one dwarf yet in Moria that still draws breath!"
Aragorn and Legolas have their bows drawn while Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Soo-jin Smith, Jeremy Fortunov, and Piper Baines raise their guns. Boromir stands with both his sword and shield at the ready.
As the doors were now getting battered down, Legolas fires an arrow and flies through a hole to kill a goblin, which screeched in utter pain. Aragorn fires an arrow too and kills another screeching goblin as well. However, time ran out when the goblins manage to break down the doors and many of them were now running inside the chamber to engage the Fellowship. The battle begins when Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Soo-jin Smith, Jeremy Fortunov, and Piper Baines open fire on the goblins while Aragorn and Legolas fire their arrows. Dozens of goblins that were pouring into the chamber, but were getting themselves shot down and killed. Despite many goblins being shot and killed, more of them kept on coming in.
Saving the rest of their ammo, Aragorn, Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Legolas Greenleaf, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Soo-jin Smith, Jeremy Fortunov, Piper Baines, and Boromir openly charge against the enemy first. Even while Darcy was scared to death, Jane Foster stood by her side while James Davis, Joseph Burnett, Patricia Smith, Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, and Erik Selvig immediately charge forward to help the others in the group to fight against the incoming goblins. Even Gandalf, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and lastly Frodo Baggins charge too. Natasha Romanoff and Bobbi Morse use their amazing maertial arts skills to pin down and beat a number of goblins that were now all over the chamber. Darcy and Jane were nowhere to be found in the fight.
Frodo felt a hot wrath blaze up in hisheart. "For the Shire!" He cried, and springing beside Boromir, he stooped, and stabbed a goblin with Sting. Black drops dripped from the blade and smoked on the floor.
How many there were the Company could not count. The affray was very sharp, but the goblins were dismayed by the fierceness of the Fellowship's defense. Legolas shot a goblin through the throat with his arrow. Gimli hewed the legs from under another that had sprung up on Balin's tomb. Boromir, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, James Davis, Piper Baines, and Aragorn stood together and had been slaying as many that were trying to surround them. While dozens of goblins had fallen, many more of them continued to enter the chamber, letting out a lot of shrieking.
"Darcy!" Burnett called out to her while he slashed several goblins that were in his way. "Where are you?!"
"Fitz!" Agent Simmons cried out as she was trying to avoid being harmed by several goblins.
"Jemma!" Agent Fitz yelled, trying to get to her.
Soo-jin Smith took out her knives and used her skills to slash each goblin by the neck. Her sister Pat stood by her side for support. Daisy couldn't use her powers, so she too uses her skills in martial arts to fight off the goblins singlehanded. She even landed a very serious punch at a large goblin, sending him falling backwards to the ground.
While the Fellowship continue to fight off as many goblins with their weapons, Samwise Gamgee and Leo Fitz suddenly stop in midst of the fight when they heard the sound of a very big creature approaching the entrance to the chamber. The others in the Fellowship look over to the door as a very big cave troll, with a broken chain around his neck, smashes through the rest of the doors, and bashes the walls with its head and club, and even lets out a loud roar.
"Holy sh** that's big," Agent Fortunov gasped.
As the troll advances towards Samwise and Fitz, Legolas fires an arrow into its chest, causing it to growl in a bit of pain. That was when it spots both Samwise and Fitz, and then it raises its club above his head to strike at the two of them. However, the two were able to quickly dive through its legs just in time as the troll used its club to smash the floor a bit. The troll was confused as where Samwise and Fitz went. However, its confusion didn't last long when it turns to face the two that were huddling together in the entrance. The troll walks over to them and raises its foot to stomp on them to death. Before the troll had its chance, Aragorn, Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, and Boromir all pull together on the chain around its neck.
"Pull!" Aragorn shouted.
"Get down!" Albion yelled.
The troll stumbles backwards and swings around to face them. Just as Aragorn, Natasha Romanoff, Peter Hunter, and Barbara Morse quickly duck for cover to avoid being struck by the troll, Boromir was still holding on to its chain. The troll saw what Boromir was doing and grabs hold of it. Boromir tried to move away, but the troll used its hand to fling against a wall. Boromir was alright, but was completly dazed for what the troll just did to him. Before he got up, a goblin warrior advances on the Gondorian and raises his sword to strike him down. That was when Soo-jin throws one of her knives into the goblin's neck, thus saving Boromir's life. Boromir looks at her, who gives the honorable Gondorian a nod.
Throughout the fight, an angry Gimli throws an axe directly into the troll's shoulder, but to no effect at all. The angry roaring troll continues to move forward and raises its club to kill the dwarf. However, Gimli was very fast to leap aside as the troll smashes its club into the tomb. Darcy, Jane, Merry and Pippin were all hiding behind a pillar and watched as the troll continues to swipe with its club, sending goblins flying while trying to kill Gimli. Gimli falls to the ground, thus giving the troll its chance to finish him. However, Legolas sends two arrows loaded in his bow and fires, sending that brutish monster to stumble backwards into a wall. The troll was a bit dazed, but was very angry now as it slowly gets itself up. Daisy knew that using her power could possibly bring the entire cavern down on her and everyone else. So she continued to fight. She tried to get the troll's attention by throwing a rock at it. The troll tried to fight her off, even trying to swipe at her with its club.
However, a stroke of luck happened when Legolas was standing at a platform of the chamber and fires another arrow at the troll, getting it to focus on the elven prince. While his companions Lincoln Slade and Jeremy Fortunov were also on the platform fighting off the goblins with their weapons locked in their hands, Legolas waits for the troll to come towards him. The troll, rather than using its club, decides to use its chain as a weapon. Legolas keeps on ducking and weaving to avoid being hit by the troll. When the troll whips its chain once again, Legolas managed to duck again, thus allowing the chain to wrap itself around a pillar. The troll was struggling to break itself out, but it gave Legolas a chance to stand on the chain, then nimbly walks up it to the trolls head. He stands on its shoulders and fires an arrow into its head. The troll screams and reaches for Legolas who nimbly jumps down. When the chain snaps, the troll now had a collar.
Meanwhile, Samwise Gamgee had been fighting off several goblins that were advancing at him. Rather than using his sword to defend himself, he uses his frying pan to hit each one on the head.
"Think I'm getting the hang of this," Samwise approved his fighting, but focused his attention on another goblin and hits it.
Just then, another goblin sneaks up from behind, only for Jemma to throw a rock at the creature.
"Don't lose your attention!" Agent Simmons warned the hobbit very loudly.
Throughout the fight, the troll turns to focus directly at Peregrin Took, Darcia Lewis, Joseph Burnett, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Frodo Baggins, who all look at it in horror. Natasha Romanoff, Barbara Morse, and Piper Baines raised their guns from behind and tried to shoot at it, but the troll ignored the effects and continued to advance forward towards Peregrin, Darcia, Joey, Meriadoc, and Frodo. Even while Peregrin, Darcia, Joey, and Meriadoc were able to run to one side just as the troll smashes his club down, Frodo was alone when he leapt on the other side of the platform.
"Oh no," Natasha breathed as she saw that Frodo was in deep trouble with the troll.
"Frodo!" Aragorn shouted throughout the fight.
As the troll continues to seek out after Frodo, the young helpless hobbit tries to hide behind a pillar. The troll tries to look around the pillar, sniffing the hobbit while Aragorn and Barbara Morse were fighting their way to save him.
"Hold on, Frodo, we're coming!" Bobbi cried, using her martial art skills to move several goblins that were in her way.
While Frodo was doing his hide-and-seek to avoid being found by the sniffing troll, Daisy does a somersault and uses her legs to kick two goblins between her as she too rushes over to help save Frodo.
Frodo tried as much to avoid the troll as it goes around to the other side of the pillar, forcing the young hobbit to slide around. As Frodo sidles around, the troll sniffs and then departs. Thinking that the troll chose to give up, Frodo breathed a a sigh of relief. Suddenly, the troll's face appears in front of him and lets out a very loud roar, causing Frodo to scream in horror and then stumble back into a corner in fear. Now, Frodo was in dire trouble, for which the troll reaches out and grabs the young hobbit by the foot.
"Aragorn!" Frodo cried out for help as he tries to grab hold of a pillar while being dragged by the troll. "Bobbi!"
"Frodo!" Aragorn shouted as he grabs a spear from the floor since he was already getting closer to the troll.
"No!" Bobbi cried.
As the troll pulls the helpless hobbit off the ledge, Frodo was able to cut the troll's hand with Sting. The troll let out a painful squeal due to feeling the sword strike at its skin. This caused the troll to release Frodo, only for the hobbit to fall to the floor. The troll growls in fury and then continues to make its advance towards Frodo, but before that could happen, Aragorn jumps down in front of the troll with his spear locked in his hands. The troll backs away a bit, but then lifts its club to strike at both of them. This gave Aragorn a chance to drive his spear into the troll's chest, causing it to scream in agony.
"Look!" Darcy shouted, pointing her finger directly at the troll, who continued to cry in agony.
Immediately, Peregrin Took, Darcia Lewis, Joseph Burnett, and Meriadoc Brandybuck saw that Aragorn needed help, so they start throwing a lot of rocks at it. The troll ignores the rocks being thrown at it, and so it then takes its chance to swipe at Aragorn, sending him flying backwards across the room.
"Aragorn!" Burnett cried out in horror. "No!"
Frodo crawls over to Aragorn in a hurry and tries to rouse him, but the ranger was too stunned to move due to the impact. Peregrin Took, Darcia Lewis, Joseph Burnett, and Meriadoc Brandybuck keep on throwing rocks at the troll to prevent it from coming at Frodo, but to no avail. Immediately, the troll pulls the spear out from its chest and now seeks to plunge it at Frodo. Frodo moves quickly, causing the spear to go into the wall instead. Frodo keeps on trying to dodge the troll as it lunges for him again. Frodo begins to try and run away, but the troll blocks his way with the spear to keep him from escaping. This also caused Frodo to fall back into a corner, giving the troll its exact chance to plunge its spear directly into Frodo's chest. Feeling the spear enter his chest, Frodo let out a very serious gasp.
"FRODO!" Bobbi screamed in horror.
The fight was paused when almost everyone in the group look on in horror as to what the troll had just did. Natasha couldn't believe how terrified she was failing to save a poor helpless young hobbit from dying at the hands of a very large giant. As Frodo continued to gasp for breath, the troll lets out a nasty, but sinister snort. In a fit of fury, both Merry and Pippin look at each other for a moment and then they run towards the troll, swords at the ready. Merry was able to leap onto the troll's head and started stabbing it while Pippin jumps onto its back.
Just as Frodo immediately collapses on the floor, Samwise Gamgee fights his way over to Frodo, as do Gandalf, Barbara Morse, and Peter Hunter. Even as Merry and Pippin continue to stab the troll, the angry giant was able to reach up and grab Merry, and dangled him by his legs like a rag doll. Natasha raised her gun and shot at the troll's hand, causing to squeal and release Merry from its grasp. This gave the rest of the group to redouble their efforts by finishing off the remaining goblins in the room. Gimli and Lincoln Slade face off the troll, attacking it with their armed weapons. The troll swipes them to the ground.
While the others were circling the troll, Legolas stands in front of the troll while taking out an arrow and arms his bow, ready to take aim at the beast. With Pippin stabbing the troll a couple more times on its head, the troll begins to open its mouth when it roars in agony. This gave Legolas the chance to fire his arrow, sending it directly into its mouth. Feeling the arrow enter its mouth and even striking the brain from inside, the troll lets out a moan and begins to stumble either backwards or forwards. Eventually, the troll stumbles and falls to the ground dead, flinging Pippin against the floor and knocked out.
With the troll and the goblins dead in the chamber, a moment of silence happened as the group quickly rushes over to Frodo. Aragorn awoke and crawled over to Frodo as the others watch in sadness.
"Oh no," Aragorn breathed in horror and grief.
Tears began to stream down from the eyes of Barbara Morse. She was now in a state of grief over the lost of her friend Frodo Baggins, who was the only person to be killed in the ancient city of Moria. Falling down on her knees, she places her hand over Frodo's hair.
"Frodo, why didn't you go back?" Bobbi sniffed.
"Is he dead?" Agent Simmons asked.
"Seeing a troll stab him with a spear is exactly what happened, Jemma," Agent Fitz sighed.
As the rest of the group began to express their deepest sorrows and regret for failing to protect the Ring-bearer, Aragorn turns Frodo over, but as he did, a sign of shock and relief just erupted when Frodo started to gasp for breath and groaned a bit due to feeling the impact.
"What?" Darcy gasped.
"Impossible," Doctor Selvig scoffed in utter shock and confusion.
"You gotta be bloody kidding me?" Albion murmured in shock.
"Oh my god, its a miracle," Agent Baines gasped in shock and surprise.
No one of the group couldn't believe that young Frodo Baggins was alive. They were even startled as to what they were seeing right now. It was a miracle. As the rest of the group rush over to check on him, Frodo holds his chest.
"He's alive," Samwise breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yes, he is," Gandalf breathed too in relief.
"Oh thank god," Bobbi sighed in relief with a smile just as she wiped her teams off her eyes and wrapped her arms around Frodo. "We were so worried."
"Are you alright?" Doctor Foster asked, wanting to check on him.
Frodo sits up and looks around the group. "Yes, I'm alright."
"Are you sure, because we just saw that troll stab you," Doctor Foster recalled. "You should be hurt."
"That's just the thing Doctor Foster, but I swear to to the Shire that I'm not hurt," Frodo said.
"I don't believe thats possible," Quake scoffed. "That spear penetrated into your chest."
"Daisy does make a point, not unless there was something that might've protected him from being killed," Ranger Slade stated.
"If that's true, then what is it?" Albion asked, wanting a specific answer.
"I think there's more to this hobbit than meets the eye," Gandalf said as he leaned on his staff.
With that said, Frodo quickly pulled aside his jacket and shirt to reveal a shiny, silver-white metal undercoat that he wore since he and the group left Rivendall. It turns out that it was a Mithril vest that Bilbo had given him as a way to protect him from immediate danger.
"Mithril," Gimli responded softly and stared at the Mithril Vest in awe. The dwarf was quite impressed and pleased to see how lucky Frodo was in wearing that. "You are full of surprises Master Baggins!"
"Indeed, you're one lucky guy," Pat smiled, giving a sign of impression.
"Its bad luck that we don't have any of those to protect us," Agent Fortunov responded in jealously.
"Its amazing," Agent Fitz remarked.
"So thats what happened?" Agent Simmons scoffed in a bit of laughter and amazement. "Its just like... a bullet proof vest, but much stronger. Other than vibranium or even a bullet proof vest, Mithril seems to be a perfect example on how it could protect people from harm. Imagine if S.H.I.E.L.D. could accomplish in having a store filled with Mithril, this could be the next step to prevent as many future casualties from happening."
"Jemma really knows how to make a good impression," Quake remarked and really accepted this kind of idea. "This is exactly why she's good at ideas. But this is exactly what people, like us, need."
"Well, if we ever meet a colony of dwarves somewhere, hope they can really spare us some Mithril vests to keep ourselves from being shot or stabbed," Albion imagined.
"Well, let's hope will find more," Ranger Slade slightly grinned a bit. "Cause this is exactly what we were missing from the start."
"I can only say that hobbits are made of a stuff so tough that I have never met the like of it," Aragorn said. "Had I known, I would have spoken softer in the Inn at Bree. That spear-thrust would have skewered a wild boar."
"Well, it did not skewer me, I am glad to say," Frodo said. "Though I feel as if I had been caught between a hammer and an anvil."
Suddenly, everyone looks around around as they hear the sound of more screeches. It seems that the enemy was sending reinforcements to attack the Fellowship.
"That doesn't sound good," Darcy responded fearfully.
"Seems they're sending some more friends to avenge their fallen," Albion stated.
"I am afraid Balin is buried deep, but I fear that something else is buried there too," Gandalf said.
"What do you mean?" Doctor Foster asked. "Better answer or maybe should lead us the way out."
"To the bridge of Khazad-Dûm!" Gandalf hastily gave a command to the group to follow him.
Without hesitating, everyone in the group already runs out the back door of the chamber and follow where Gandalf was leading them. However, they all look around to see that they are being pursued by a thousands of goblins that were coming all over The Fellowship run out of the tomb area, orcs swarm behind them. Some were climbing out of cracks in the floor or crawl down from the ceiling and down the pillars like spiders or cockroaches. Eventually, the group were forced to stop and hold out their weapons before them while being completely surrounded by snarling goblins.
"Stand your ground!" Natasha shouted, raising her weapon in defense.
"Well, I guess this is it," Darcy softly cried as she knows what is about to happen. "Farewell."
Before the goblins were ready to eliminate the intruders, a thunderous and deafening roar fills the air around. The Fellowship and the goblins look around as to where the sound was coming from, but then, they could see where it was. At the end of a hall, a fiery reddish light dances down from an archway. Scared and worried, all of the goblins look round in a panic, and as the roar was heard again, they all begin to screech in terror and fearfully flee in all directions. The group stare towards the fiery light as it was starting to move closer.
"This could either be really good or really bad," Albion said.
"Whatever that roar was, the goblins were afraid of it," Doctor Selvig said.
"Is it a dragon?" Pat asked, making a guess.
"I freaking hope its not," Agent Fortunov scoffed.
"Uh Gandalf, can you classify as what this new devilry could be?" Quake asked.
"Aye, I fell that this kind of devilry has devised for our welcome, no doubt," Boromir said.
Gandalf closes his eyes and thinks hard as to what this mysterious foe could be. As he continued to think, the group could tell that it was mysterious creature was getting closer, for which they could all hear the sound of the ground shaking. As he open his eyes, the red glow covers the entrance path of columns in front of the group.
"Its a Balrog," Gandalf answered.
"A Bal-What?" Albion asked.
"A Balrog, one of Morgoth's most deadliest servants since the First Age," Gandalf explained to him. "Now we know why. For these creatures were once noble Maiar until Morgoth corrupted them with dark magic. These servants take the form of demons with hearts of fire and whips of flame."
"Oh that's just great, thanks for the explanation," Natasha sarcastically responded.
"I did not think they would still exist, but this one... he is known as Askâdurs, but before his corruption, he had another name before Morgoth used his twisted sorcery to corrupt him," Gandalf added more.
"Well I didn't expect that a Balrog would have a name," Burnett said.
"Uh, does anyone have a plan to deal with a monster like that?" Agent Simmons asked in a panic.
"Gandalf, should we just stay here, make a run for it, or fight the damn thing?" Quake asked. "Cause we're out of options."
"My friends, this foe is beyond any of you," Gandalf said.
"So, my answer, 'run'?" Albion asked.
"RUN!" Gandalf urgently yelled immediately. "Quickly!"
As the sound of Askâdurs' roar was heard once again, Gandalf leads the group through the Hall and run towards a passageway. They run as fast as they can, leaving the cavern of columns, and hoping to avoid Morgoth's most dangerous servant. As they exit the passage and head towards a flight of steps, Boromir and Jeremy Fortunov were the first to race down, but as they did, they suddenly finds the steps end above a great chasm. The two teeter on the edge, trying not to fall, but in strike of luck, both Legolas and Barbara Morse were able to run up behind them and quickly pull them back away from the edge.
Everyone else, including the young Hobbits, immediately stop short when they saw the black chasm with their own eyes.
"Holy sh**," Darcy gasped. "That's a long way to fall down."
"Your right, this not even a city, this is 'hell'," Agent Simmons complained.
"So where's the bridge?" Natasha asked the wizard.
"Look ahead!" Gandalf pointed at the direction of where the bridge of Khazad-Dûm was. The bridge was narrow and it gaps the two sides of the great chasm. "The bridge is near."
"Looks pretty dangerous and narrow to me," Agent Fitz described the look of the bridge. "Is there no other bridge we can take? One that is wider?"
"I'm afraid its the only one," Gandalf answered, and then focuses his attention towards Natasha Romanoff, Aragorn, Barbara Morse, Peter Hunter, Daisy Johnson, and Lincoln Slade. "My friends, I want the six of you to lead them on. Head straight on, and up the stair beyond the door! Once you reach it, cross the bridge, but make sure that everyone here runs in a straight line."
"We undersand that," Ranger Slade said.
"And once we cross, that's our way out?" Natasha asked.
"Yes," Gandalf nodded.
"But what about you?" Quake asked, before hearing the sound of Askâdurs' roar once again. "What are you going to do?"
"I will hold the narrow way as long as I can," Gandalf said.
"Your not seriously planning to face the Balrog yourself?" Bobbi asked, shaking her head in dissatisfactory.
"I have no choice, but if we do make it, then there's no need," Gandalf said. "But we must hurry!"
Natasha Romanoff, Aragorn, Barbara Morse, Peter Hunter, Daisy Johnson, and Lincoln Slade didn't like the idea for Gandalf to stay behind since it was suicide, but as the Balrog's roar was heard from behind the group, they could see that the red firey glow was drawing closer.
"Sh** its getting closer!" Burnett shouted.
"Looks like we don't any other options," Doctor Selvig said. "Let's run and make our way out!"
"Screw this, let's just face the creature ourselves," Quake suggested her plan. "Will the buy the rest of you time to escape."
"DO as I say!" Gandalf yelled at them while pushing Daisy away from the passageway. "Your weapons are of no more us here!"
Natasha Romanoff, Aragorn, Barbara Morse, Peter Hunter, Daisy Johnson, and Lincoln Slade look at him in utter confusion as the wizard passes them. Despite wanting to argue, they immediately continue onwards towards the bridge.
As the group race down the steep, rocky staircase, they turn to the right and run down more steps in front of them, which wind their way to the Bridge. Suddenly, half way down, they reach a break and could see that the gap in the staircase was too wide to step over. That was when Legolas was the first to leap forward and lands safely on the other side. Jeremy Fortunov and Soo-jin Smith look at each other for a moment, but the two nimbly jump the gap and reach the other side.
Legolas looks expectantly at the others and waves to Gandalf, beckoning him to make the jump, "Gandalf, your next!"
Gandalf looks puzzled for a moment, but when he and the others hear the roar again from behind them as the roof above starts to crumble, in which stones were starting to fall around them.
"We are out of time!" Doctor Selvig exclaimed towards Gandalf. "You must jump now!"
Gandalf then make jumps over the gap to join Legolas, Jeremy Fortunov, and Soo-jin Smith.
"Alright, Darcy your next," Doctor Foster said.
Darcy gulped when she looks at the chasm below. Fear struck her face, and responded. "I can't."
"Darcy we don't have time, you need to jump or we all die!" Quake exclaimed.
Without hesitating, Darcy makes the jump and was able to reach safely to the other side.
"Cannonball!" Burnett shouted as he follows after Darcy and makes it too.
Jemma Simmons and Leopold Fitz hold their hands tightly as the two make the jump immediately and manage to safely reach the other side too. Just as Piper Baines and James Davis were next and made the leap themselves, an arrow suddenly whistles in the air and strikes the steps the group stands on.
"Where that come from?!" Bobbi shouted.
"Up there!" Agent Fortunov loudly pointed directly as to where the arrow came from.
The group turns to see that dozens of goblin archers were trying to shoot at them, trying to prevent them from escaping. Without hesitating, Aragorn, Lincoln Slade, and Legolas fire their arrows while Daisy Johnson, Jemma Simmons, Leo Fitz, Sou-jin Smith, Patricia Smith, Barbara Morse, Jane Foster, Jeremy Fortunov, Natasha Romanoff, Piper Baines, and James Davis use their guns. They were able to shoot down as many goblins as they could, but more arrows fire out of the air, narrowly missing Boromir and the hobbits. Legolas aims one arrow and shoots down a goblin, firing it directly in the head. As that happened, Erik Selvig, Patricia Smith, Lincoln Slade, and Daisy Johnson were next to jump and reach the other side, but continued to stand their ground as the goblin archers continue to fire at the group.
"Merry! Pippin!" Boromir shouted as he takes both Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took under each arm and jumps with them. As the three leap forward and land on the other side, a greater chunk of the steps they were standing on began to fall away.
Despite the gap making it difficult, Peter Hunter and Barbara Morse grab Jane Foster and were able to throw her over the gap, and safely to other side without having to fall down.
Bobbi turns to Samwise Gamgee and grabs him, "Alright Sam, your next!"
After Sam gives her a nod as a sign of being ready, Barbara Morse immediately throws Sam to the other side and is caught by both Daisy Johnson and Lincoln Slade. Just as Aragorn reaches to toss Gimli, the dwarf holds up his hand as a sign that he didn't need any help.
"Nobody tosses a dwarf!" Gimli exclaimed and then immediately takes a mighty leap and lands teetering on the other side, but nearly falls back into the chasm below until Barbara Morse reaches out to stop him falling, grabbing his beard. "Not the beard!"
"What am I suppose grab?!" Bobbi bellowed in confusion.
As Barbara Morse pulls Gimli to safety, more of the steps they have just left suddenly start to crumble and begin to fall into the fires below. Aragorn throws Frodo back up the steps and climbs after him, in which the two were safety further up the steps. Even as Aragorn clings onto the stairs, a great portion of the steps had already fall into the chasm. This meant that the gap was too wide for Frodo Baggins and Aragorn to jump.
"Oh no," Quake breathed in horror.
"Don't worry, will figure out another way!" Doctor Selvig shouted.
The rest of the Fellowship look on in worry since the gap that separates Aragorn and Frodo and the rest of the group was way to wide. Just then, the doorway entrance behind them was glowing red and the great roar from the Balrog was coming from just behind it. More stone structures around the mine were collapsing, in which the doorway and the roof from above was crumbling even more than before. As that happened, a great chunk of rock falls from the roof the ceiling and smashes down the steps behind Aragorn and Frodo, thus creating another gap and weakening the stairs' foundation. Aragorn and Frodo Baggins were now isolated on the staircase, but that was when the column on which this part of the staircase is, begins to crack. Now, the staircase began to slowly sway.
"Hang on!" Aragorn shouted as he held Frodo tightly as the staircase on which they are standing continues to sway from side to side.
The others within the group were frightenend, knowing that the two were about to fall into the chasm below. Daisy knew that it was useless to use her powers inside the great realm of the dwarves, for she knew that it would cause a serious earthquake.
"Please don't fall," Albion murmured in fright.
"Lean forward!" Aragorn shouted as he and Frodo now begin to cause the staircase to move it forward.
The two were able to shift their weight forward, tipping the stairs across the divide and slamming onto the steps where their companions were. They leap across to safety, catched by Peter Hunter, Daisy Johnson, Barbara Morse, and Boromir. As they run down the remaining staircase, the part of the staircase they were standing on collapses completely, falling into the chasm.
Despite the waste of time to make their escape, Gandalf was able to lead the group towards the bridge of Khazad-Dûm. Once the others were rushing towards the bridge and make their escape out of the realm for good, Gandalf stops halfway and stays behind to make sure that everyone in the group is safe and makes sure that all of them were able to cross the bridge safely to the other side. However, as he watches the group run to the bridge, Gandalf saw that the flames were growing higher. He realized that something was coming.
"Over the bridge!" Gandalf cried, recalling his strength. "Fly!"
Gandalf turns to face the growing flames. As he stood in defense, a winged creature emerges from out of the midst of the flames. It was Askâdurs, a balrog in service to Morgoth. The dark figure, streaming with fire, was over at least 40 feet tall. Gandalf stared at the creature until releases a very powerful, but angry roar. Gandalf immediately turns to run away and head towards the bridge, thus forcing Askâdurs to walk after them with great strides.
One by one, every member of the Fellowship cross the narrow bridge and safely reach the other side, but half way across the bridge, Gandalf, who was the last one from behind the group, made a sudden stop and turns to face the Balrog, who too had reached the bridge. Gandalf stood firm as he continued to remain in the middle of the span, leaning on the staff in his left hand, but in his other hand, Glamdring started to gleam, cold and white.
"You cannot pass, Askâdurs!" Gandalf bellowed directly at the balrog.
Frodo, having heard Gandalf's voice, made a sudden stop and turns around to see what was happening. He stares at the sight of horror and screams, "Gandalf!"
The others in the group made a sudden halt just within the doorway at the hall's end, and they all turn to see the wizard standing valiantly against the Balrog. Unable to leave their leader to face the enemy alone, they rush back towards the bridge.
"What's he doing?!" Agent Simmons yelled in utter confusion and horror as to what the wizard was doing.
"He's going to get himself killed!" Ranger Slade exclaimed.
"Fly you fools!" Gandalf shouted at the group to flee. Then, he turns back to face Askâdurs, who stretches his wings and draws himself up to full height in front of the wizard.
"I am the Servant of the Secret Fire," Gandalf bravily responded to his foe. "Wielder of the Flame of Anor."
"Gandalf, c'mon!" Quake shouted.
Seeing the flame come out of Askâdurs' nostrils, Gandalf continued to stand firm against his foe, ignoring Daisy's call. The balrog reaches down and draws its sword in front of Gandalf, and holds it high above its head. However, Gandalf was able to create a blazing light that was radiating from Gandalf's staff, illuminating the entire bridge and it's surroundings
"The dark fire will not avail you!" Gandalf shouted directly at his foe while keeping his shield all around him. "Flame of Udûn!"
The fire in Askâdurs seemed to die out a bit, but the darkness began to grow. Ignoring Gandalf's threats, he makes a step forward slowly on to the bridge, and suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread from wall to wall, but Gandalf could still be seen, glimmering in the gloom as he wasn't willing to let himself fall to his enemy. However, Askâdurs would summon a red fiery sword and prepared to use it to strike the wizard down. Just as Askâdurs brought his sword down upon Gandalf, but the shield that Gandalf created with his staff prevented the weapon from penetrating. This gave Gandalf the exact chance to parry with the creature with Glamdring and summoned a very powerful light to shatter Askâdurs' sword. Askâdurs fell back, and the remaining fragments of his sword seemed to have dissipated. The wizard swayed on the bridge, stepped back a pace, and then again stood still.
"Go back to the Shadow!" Gandalf growled as he continued to remain on the bridge.
Askâdurs continued to ignore him as he lets out a very serious roar at the wizard. He wasn't planning on giving up, for he then puts out his cloven foot onto the bridge. Then, the balrog summons a flaming whip above his head and uses it to lash about menacingly.
"YOU... SHALL NOT... PASS!" Gandalf roared as he then raises both his staff and sword above his head and then brings them down onto the bridge very hard.
When he did that, Askâdurs made a sudden stop for a moment and snorts at the wizard. Thinking it was trick, the balrog raises his whip and takes another step forward. As he does so, the bridge began to collapse under him and the balrog falls backward into the chasm. The others in the group, who had been watching the fight, were relieved and amazed how Gandalf risked his life to defeat the creature all by himself. Daisy was quite impressed with the wizard's amazing moves.
While watching Askâdurs fall into the chasm, Gandalf was exhausted with all the energy he spent while facing the giant monster and would then turn to walk away to join the others and then continue to make their escape out of Moria. At the last minute, the tail end of Askâdurs' whip suddenly lashes up from the depths below and wraps around the wizard's ankle, dragging him over the edge.
Seeing that Gandalf was in trouble, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Piper Baines, and James Davis immediately rush down the stairs and head towards the lip of the broken bridge and save the wizard, who was straining to keep his grip. Frodo dashes forward to help, but Jeremy Fortunov restrains the young hobbit and holds him back since he was the first to spot more goblins approaching from the other side.
"No kid, we have to get out of here!" Agent Fortunov exclaimed as he continued to keep Frodo restrained.
Just as Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Piper Baines, and James Davis were getting closer, Gandalf tries to hold on by his fingertips and looks at them for a last time.
"Hold on, we're coming!" Quake shouted.
Gandalf turns his head a bit to see the goblins approaching. Realizing that it was too late, he turns back to rescuers.
"Fly you fools!" Gandalf exclaimed.
At that very moment, Gandalf loses his grip and falls into the chasm. Daisy tried to leap forward to grab him, but was too late. She was about to fall too before Lincoln and Hunter were able to grab her in time. The rest of the group stood rooted with horror. Darcy covered her mouth in absolute horror for what she saw. Even Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz were also shocked for what had happened. With the balrog and the wizard continuing to fall down into the chasm, the fires went out, and blank darkness fell. Aragorn and Natasha Romanoff both state at the bridge in disbelief, unable to move for a few moments
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Frodo screamed in horror and as he tries to run forward, but couldn't since jeremy Fortunov continued to restrain him.
"Guys, we need to go now!" Agent Fortunov shouted as he and the others rush for the stairs which would lead them to the eastern gate.
Hearing his words, Daisy Johnson, Lincoln Slade, Peter Hunter, Barbara Morse, Piper Baines, and James Davis see that the goblins were coming to them and they immediately make a run for it and rush up the stairs. They were able to dodge the arrows that the goblin archers were letting out. Once the others, without Gandalf, were able to make their way towards the eastern gate, they could see light ahead. As they were out of the eastern gate, the group could see that the shadow of the Misty Mountains lay upon it, but eastwards, there was a golden light on the land. It was but one hour afternoon. The sun was shining, and the clouds were white and looked back.
As the group stopped running, they all take a moment to mourn the lost over Gandalf, who was the one in the group to perish. Almost everyone in the group was distraught for what had happened. Samwise Gamgee was deeply upset as he sits on the ground, bows his head onto his hands, and then weeps. The poor hobbit couldn't help but slump down, as all the energy leaves him as adrenaline gives way to heartache. Darcy was more upset then ever. She collapses to the ground and cries. Her boyfriend rushes over and wraps his arm around her to give her plenty of comfort while he felt tears streaming down his eyes. Natasha Romanoff, who barely knew him, felt a sign of grief since she began to recall the time when she made the ultimate sacrifice in order for her partner Clint to claim the Soul Stone from Vormir. It was rather tragic for that to happen.
Boromir, Patricia Smith, Barbara Morse, and Peter Hunter sadly try to restrain Gimli as the dwarf vents out his rage and sorrow. The dwarf really wanted revenge for the lost of Gandalf, for who he always considered as a good friend to him and his kin. His anger was too much for him to bear. Boromir, Patricia Smith, Barbara Morse, and Peter Hunter were also torn between wanting to follow Gimli in his rage and the pain of the Fellowship's loss. Even the look in Legolas' eyes really purveys the sense of loss and confusion like he cannot believe what had just happened. It feels as if that fighting these stronger emotions that elves don't normally entertain, as the pain of such a loss would make even an elf shed tears. Legolas did as much to keep his emotions altogether.
Merry, on the other note, was doing his best to console with Pippin, who completely loses it at the thought that all of this was his fault since he knew that he was responsible for drawing the attention of the Goblins of Moria with his foolishness, and that his mistakes cost Gandalf his life. Jane Foster sits herself down and wears a look of shock and disbelief.
"Gandalf was the strongest of us all," Agent Baines sighed.
"Yeah, how could our strongest member die like that?" Agent Davis sighed too.
Aragorn stands on a distance from the others, cleaning his sword and re-sheathes it. He feels deeply troubled by Gandalf's loss, but knows that he and the others couldn't stay here for long. This entire area that he and the group were on was clearly enemy territory, and one cannot give themselves to grief on enemy soil without paying a hefty price, a price the Fellowship cannot afford given that they've already lost one member. Natasha Romanoff, Erik Selvig, Daisy Johnson, and Lincoln Slade walk over to join him.
"What do we do know?" Quake asked.
"We need to move, we cannot stay here," Aragorn said. "Goblins will be pouring out very soon. We need to reach Lothlórien at once."
"What is that place, is it civilized?" Natasha asked.
"Yes," Aragorn solely nodded his exact answer.
"Well if that's true, then we must move now before the light begins to set," Doctor Selvig said.
Lincoln walks over to Legolas and says, "Legolas, let's get everyone up, now."
"Give them a moment for pity's sake!" Boromir exclaimed.
"Can you least give us some time to mourn?!" Albion exclaimed too with a slight tear dropping from his right eye. "We just lost someone!"
"Yeah and very soon, these hills will be swarming with goblins!" Ranger Slade warned him and the others.
"Then where are we going now?" Doctor Foster asked. "We don't even have a plan!"
"We're going to reach Lothlórien, will be safe there," Aragorn promised. "Its very civilized and it will keep the goblins from following us."
"I hope your right," Bobbi expressed. "Cause we still trust you." She then walks over to Samwise Gamgee, who continued to weep over Gandalf's death. "Alright Sam, on your feet."
As the rest of the group begin to stand up and prepare to leave and follow Aragorn to Lothlórien, Barbara Morse looks around and tries to look for Frodo, who was nowhere to be found.
"Frodo?" Bobbi called out in a worry. Then she sees Frodo walking away in the distance and calls out to him again. "Frodo!"
Frodo makes a sudden stop when he heard Barbara's voice and turns to face her with tears rolling down his face. Barbara could tell how upset he is and rushes over to give him a very gently hug.
"Sssh, its okay," Bobbi said, giving him comfort and love at the same time. "I'm so sorry."
"You don't have to be," Frodo tearfully responded as Bobbi releases him. "Its my fault."
"No, no, don't say that," Bobbi said.
"This quest, this Ring... it's supposed to be my hardship," Frodo continued to cry. "My own burden to bear. Its all my fault."
"Frodo," Bobbi sighed as she drops down on her knees to meet his gaze. "Whatever happened was not your fault."
"Then why did Gandalf have to die?" Frodo asked, sniffing as tears continue to drop down on his eyes.
"Gandalf sacrificed his life for all of us," Bobbi explained. "He did it as a way for us to live and fight another day. What I need to tell you is, you are not at fault. Do you understand me?"
"You were right Bobbi," Frodo said to her. "I should've left Rivendell with Sam, Merry, and Pippin. All four of us would be ready to head home, be with our families, dance around in the meadows, and celebrate with fireworks. The burden should've been someone else, not me. That's why, its my fault."
"I know you really wanted to go back home where it was safe, but seeing you in action really gave me and our friends a lot of impressions," Bobbi smiled. "I know it was mistake for you consider to taking the ring while the rest of us should've done it. It could've been me."
"Yes, I wish it was," Frodo nodded, agreeing to her words.
"But right now, we need to move out of this area," Bobbi warned him. "I fear that the goblins are not ready to give up in hunting us down. So we all need to combine our strength together and survive this. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Frodo replied.
"Good, now let's go," Bobbi insisted.
"Alright let's move!" Albion shouted for the others to move on.
With Gandalf gone, Aragorn was now the new leader of the group. He now leads the remaining Fellowship away from the rocky hills and runs ahead across a stream until he makes a sudden stop. As he looks down at the woodland below, Aragorn and the others could hear the sound of screeches from behind. The goblins were now ready to go on the hunt for the Fellowship.
