Hey y'all. Here's Funsies. Won't happen often and only when I have an idea I enjoy. That being said I have two new stories up for those interested. Star Wars: The Watcher and Skyrim: The Path. The latter of which will be my main and the former will be once a month probably. Go check them out if you have enjoyed this story.
It would be appreciated. I'm trying to breath some life into the Elder Scrolls Fanfics. They need some love in my opinion.
POV: Aedon Wynne
Tali had been asked to look over a few programs that the Krogan were starting to use in their budding infrastructure. She could've said no or asked for more money than what she got but it was Wrex asking for her to do so. The man had done an incredible job or bringing the Krogan back from the brink; they still had a long way to go but they had a real shot with him at the helm.
As for me I had finished a job with Iris a couple days ago and was now home to take care of the kida. Everyone else was all good doing their own things or training as only the youngest needed me to babysit anymore. Those that did need babysitting were currently being looked after by Nif and Lily who both understood. Which is why 16 year old Juniper and myself were alone in the house at this point.
Granted her intelligence that literally dwarfed mine I never expected to have this type of conversation with her. Still, she didn't say anything as she continued to stare at me with her head held high. As for why she was there at the moment was because she was home and taking a break from her work. Her work being her continued development of her 'Jump Drive'.
The Jump Drive was already proving a boon as on world it could transport people from one spot to another instantly as long as there was a receiver on both ends. In a system it could do the same with inorganic objects. Both were revolutionary in and of themselves but her goal was to make it so that ships wouldn't need to use the Relays. I knew from the way that she talked about it that she was close but she still needed more time to make it truly a reality.
All that said it would probably be a few years before she was able to do it. Well, either a few years or within the next nine months. As in front of me on the table between the both of us was a positive pregnancy test. With the only candidate that I could think of being Cameron Shepard. Who, coincidently, was visiting Rannoch with Jack who has been running him through the ringer at the training facility we had for the past two months. I let them stay at the house because Jack was a good friend and the closest thing to an apprentic I have beyond Iris.
Still, I stared at the test and didn't say a word. Not trusting myself to say a single word I simply held my hands in front of my mouth and stared down at my daughter. She stared right back at me without a sound. I knew exactly who had done it too and I was mostly contemplating how to handle all of it.
Deciding on the appropriate approach I stood up and went to the garage. Climbing inside Juniper was there at the entrance of the garage looking scared for the first time. She ran straight to the window and pounded on the doors window looking at me pleadingly. I could never say no to her when she put on her puppy dog eyes and the window rolled down.
"Dad… What are you going to do to him."
"I'm just going to talk to him."
"Dad… " I started the car
"He'll be fine; it'll be quick I promise."
"Dad… Please don't hurt him," I turned to her.
"I promise you nothing," I turned away and took the car out of the garage and made a beeline for the facility where he was at with Jack.
With Essence I could've gotten there quicker and have a much bigger entrance. However, I chose not to and instead to drive. Mostly to cool my head that my daughter was now pregnant. Not only that but Jacks son was the one to do it. He had just turned 16 and Juniper was almost 17. She was arguable the smartest pearson in the galaxy and she was still subject to the hormones of teenagers.
Getting to the facility my anger hadn't abated like I had hoped. Walking up to the entrance of the facility there were protocols about letting people inside, even myself had to go through them. Which when they went completely ignored by me caused 10 guards to flood out and all had guns pointed at me.
They all about shit their pants upon seeing that it was me and the look on my face. Motioning silently with my hand for them to move aside they did so quickly. All except for one who stood his ground. Kid couldn't have been older than 22. He was shaking in his boots but he held his gun steady and kept it level at me. I strode forward and stopped in front of him before clapping him on the shoulder.
"Name."
"Alex Kirnkoff sir."
"I'll make sure you get a raise. But I do need you to step aside; I have personal business to settle."
"I have to ask that you don't kill anyone sir. And that you take an escort… you don't look like you are in a good mood," I appraised the kid again and nodded towards him.
"Pick one more man. And you will be getting a promotion for this," he nodded silently and pointed to another man, maybe a year or so younger, who joined us.
Walking briskly with them behind me I had already used my admin privileges and found where Jack and Cameron were. Getting there I opened the door and stood there staring at the middle of the room where Jack and Cameron were. Jack turning around to look at me, the smile that was on her face vanishing almost instantly at seeing the rage on my face.
None of it was directed at her though and she recognized that before slowly turning towards her son who was deathly pale. A moment later she snapped her eyes back to me wide and fearful with a hint of understanding in them. Slowly she turned back to Cameron and spoke silently to him. He held himself straight though, an impressive feat all things considered.
Walking slowly to him Jack stepped away and let me stand over Cameron. He, like Juniper, didn't back down even though I could see that he was an inch from wetting himself. Still, the kid didn't back down and kept his feet planted in front of me. Even as I activated Essence, not in its full form but enough to let him feel the power of it. He stood in front of me and stayed there.
"Hit the showers," was all I said before pointing in that direction. He nodded and took off without a second thought.
"So you finally found out that they were together. Took you far longer than I though; it's been over a year now," Jack sprouted as her son walked away.
"No. I knew about them a couple months ago the last time you visited. They didn't do a good enough job at hiding it; I don't know why they wouldn't tell me face to face though."
"Aedon… Last time someone publicly pissed you off you reduced their population from high seven digits to low five digits, killed a planet and exiled the rest of them from the galaxy; in the span of a week. I kinda see why they didn't want to tell you.
"Be that as it may," it was a loosing battle to fight that logic. "That's not what I'm mad about though," I heard myself snarl even when trying to reign it in. My anger was extremely close to running wild at the moment.
"Then wh-," Jack gasped and my eyes shot to her seeing that she had her hands over her mouth. "The idiot didn't?" there was hope in her voice and on her face. Both instantly dashed when I nodded my head.
"Motherfucker! The one fucking piece of advice I give that fucking kid and and he doesn't FUCKING LISTEN," Cameron decided that was the time to walk out of the showers and up to us. Jack saw him with a smile on his face, assuming like she had I was angry for a different reason. Being greeted by an irate Jack who was immediately in the boys face was rather amusing.
Jack then proceeded to bring about a verbal beating for the ages. One where Cameron went from scared to beyond terrified as his eyes shot from Jack to me. If he was shaking in his boots before he looked an inch from pissing himself out of fright. Not that he could blamed for it; if our situations had been reversed I would've been in the same boat. Regardless I interrupted Jack and told her to go to the house with Cameron when she was done with him.
Leaving them I got back in my car and made the slow drive back to my house. Didn't even get halfway home before a call started to come through my comm. Opening it Tali was there with a mostly apprehensive face but below that apprehension was rage as well. I might've been the most feared being in the galaxy for what I would do if angered but they would just die at my hand. Tali would make you suffer and make it prolonged.
A couple years after the war a human supremacist; they popped up occasionally saying that I was the true savior and I hated them. Regardless she called Tali a whore who was taking away humanities greatest human and she did so publicly. On a galaxy wide news broadcast with Tali present when she was meant to be interviewed about a few of the programs she formed that helped with cyber security. That woman found herself out of the job within the day and blacklisted from every job imaginable.
Tali made her suffer like that for two years before she publicly kissed the ground at Tali's feet and proclaimed her apologies. Tali forgave her and got her a job but she was regulated to basically the lowest level position with the possibility of promotion nonexistent. She still had a job though so it was an improvement on what she had gone through.
"Aedon, did you do anything to Cameron?" were her first words to me. I shook my head at the question not really trusting my anger to speak at the moment. "Good. Stupid kids."
"Like we were any better. I got you pregnant when the war for the galaxy was on our doorstep," she looked like she wanted to argue the point but relented.
"We weren't kids though. Juniper isn't even 17 yet."
"And yet she's smarter than both of us combined. Her jump drive is proof of that."
"Like all geniuses though she has no common sense," being logical right not wasn't my strong suite but it was the only thing preventing me from going beserk.
"Can't do anything about it now. She will carry that child though and if I have any say in they will be married and soon," Tali raised an eyebrow at that.
"Why do you say that."
"No grandchild of mine will be a bastard. She made her decision and she will abide by it; the same will go for Cameron."
"Jack and Shepard say anything on that?"
"I don't know about Shepard but Jack is of the same mind as me, guaranteed."
"Good enough for me… Just let me call Shepard and we'll all meet at the house."
"I'll call him Tali. Just focus on getting home. Hopefully Wrex understands why you have to leave."
"I finished this morning here. Running the program through its paces right now to make sure its up to snuff."
"See you soon then, love you."
"Love you too," I ended the call and immediately dialed Shepard. It went immediately to voicemail so I called again and hacked it open; like how Ceelo had done to me years ago.
"Ah, Aedon. I am a bit busy at the moment," I could hear the other council members in the background. Garrus, Liak the Salarian and Reema the Quarian; Asari lost their sseat after the war. No one trusted them anymore and they were a good 100 plus years from getting it back. Hell, the Krogan were closer to getting a seat then they were at the moment.
"You need to come to Rannoch. Now," my tone brokered no argument. He looked around at the other councillors before nodding his head.
"I'll be there. What happened?"
"Your son happened," he was silent for a moment before nodding his head with a blank face. I cut the call at that.
The rest of the drive back home was made in silence in my car. No music, nothing. The moment I got back into my garage though the groupchat everyone from the Normandy ground team was in blew up. Jack posting that Cameron had gotten Juniper pregnant. The first response was Garrus sending a pay request to Wrex who proceeded to call CJ a disappointment and that he bet on him getting Rose pregnant first. I would've been pissed if it wasn't for the absurdity of it all; did they really have nothing else to bet on. This was going to be a long day.
That's it for Funsies. I'll post this stuff every now and again because I'll get bored; hope y'all enjoyed.
