THE REBIRTH OF A SPY
CHAPTER 1
It was a typical morning for the Forger family, with Loid enjoying a quiet cup of morning coffee at home, as Yor sort to try her best to keep up with Anya. The occasional screams of death and destruction pierced the room, as Loid sought to catch up to the latest news.
As the noise continued, Yor accidentally slipped on 1 of Anya's numerous bondman collections. Itai! Picking herself up, while scanning in search of the 2 horned child, she noticed a small slip of paper lying on the floor. With her curiosity piqued, she bent down to pick it up, only to discover to her horror, it was a flash sale for their favourite department store, which was expiring soon. Realizing the potential savings, Yor rushed back to Loid and Anya, exclaiming, "Loid! Anya! Where you guys?! Guess what? I found a discount voucher! We have to go to the store right now!" the thrill of the unexpected find infused in her voice. With barely the sound of protest erupting from their throats, Yor practically man-carried Loid and Anya out of the room and rushed headfirst for the store.
Upon arriving outside the store, the Forger family found themselves immersed in a bustling crowd as they attempted to navigate their way toward the store entrance. The air was filled with the excited chatter of shoppers, and the labyrinth of people seemed like an insurmountable obstacle. Yor firmly held Anya's hand, while Loid skillfully manoeuvred through the crowd, creating a path for his family.
While Yor was brimming with excitement the whole way through, Loid's face instead showed signs of deep concern. The flyer while innocent in appearance, had to Loid's keen eyes, shown signs of code written all over it. While Loid was a man of humility, he prided himself on his ability to solve any code put in front of him, past or present. Yet, despite racking his brain for ages, nothing of note came to him. Thus, the deep concern on his face, as he was distressed over the unsolvable code while keeping a lookout for potential suspects, while navigating through the crowd, while looking out for his "family", while…He breathed a long inaudible sigh.
I'm getting too old for this crap. Maybe it's time…
"Anya! Are you okay?", came a reply from behind him. Loid swiftly turned around, to see a disoriented Anya clutching onto her head.
Any longer, and I would start seeing birds flying out her ears, thought Loid.
"Daddy, you meanie. BAKA!", replied the small 2-horned creature, with her eyes on the verge of tears.
Feeling a tinge of guilt, Loid quickly offered his hand, and replied with a warm smile, "Anya, come over here, Daddy has a treat for you" As Anya took his hand, Loid in 1 fell swoop, lifted Anya over his shoulder, and left her sitting there.
"Anya, be careful not to drop off.", Loid warned as Anya's actions became more animated, having seemingly recovered her energy as she soaked in the view all around her.
While Loid was admiring his "daughter" actions, it was at this moment, the worst happened.
The information was so overwhelming, that for the first time in Loid's career, his body froze still, unwilling to obey the commands of his thoughts.
