At first Trina's feet were glued to that one spot. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't speak, and she definitely couldn't move. But after a minute, the fog in her mind cleared and what had locked her in place finally released her and she ran to the dock area and nearly collapsed in relief to find Spencer standing there frozen, staring at the burning wreckage of The Haunted Star in pure horror.

"Spencer! Oh god, Spencer!" She ran to him and threw her arms around his frozen body as he just stared at the wreckage in shock. "Oh my god! What happened?!"

Spencer didn't say anything at first. He just stared straight ahead at the wreckage, taking in the horror of the situation. It was the slight sting of Trina's hand hitting his face that brought him out of it. He blinked once, then twice, then looked at Trina, his brown eyes filling with tears. "Trina?"

"Yes, Spencer, it's me, Trina. I had a feeling that I should follow you, so I did...I arrived just in time to hear the explosion and I thought...I thought you were…"

"Uncle Victor...I saw him on the deck of the ship...he was waving at me to join him...he was smiling and waving and then...it was all fire and wreckage and oh god...he's...he's gone!" The horror of the situation seemed to be settling in on Spencer as his eyes widened in horror. "I just saw my Uncle die!"

Seeing that Spencer was about to go into a meltdown, Trina quickly wrapped her arms around him and held him as close as possible. "It's okay...you're safe...you're okay...it's going to be okay…"

"Oh my god!" Ava exclaimed as she came upon the scene. "Was that The Haunted Star?"

"Ava thank god!" Trina kept her arms around Spencer. "It just exploded!"

"What? How? Why?"Ava stared at the wreckage in shock.

"I don't know...but...Spencer witnessed all of it and he's freaking out! I have to get him out of here!"

"Ok, ok. Take him where he can't see this...I'll call the cops," Ava directed, waving Trina away.

Trusting Ava, Trina managed to get Spencer to the parking lot and opened her car door. She had him get into the passenger seat and she knelt down to take his shaking hands in hers.

"Hey, it's going to be ok. Alright? You're not alone. We're in this together, Spencer," Trina tried to get his attention, but he was looking anywhere but at her, tears streaming down his face as he remembered the sight of his Uncle disappearing into a wall of flames. She felt her own tears and cursed the world for doing this to them. Why did Victor have to call Spencer like that and draw him there to witness...this horrifying mess? None of it made any sense.

"Trina! Thank god you're still here!" Ava rushed up, her own eyes wide and frantic. "The police are on their way! I told them that you two had witnessed what happened…"

"Spencer witnessed it. I just heard the explosion and I thought...I thought he was on it and that I had lost him...and…," Trina shook her head, trying to rid herself of the horror and devastation she had felt when she heard the explosion and she had assumed that everything she had loved was now gone. But it wasn't. Spencer hadn't made it on that boat. He was safe. Shaken, devastated, traumatized, but safe.

"He's in shock it seems. Just keep him warm as best you can. The police should be here soon. Maybe I should call Laura...or Sonny…"

Trina didn't answer. She just sat there holding Spencer's hand and rubbing her hand up and down his arms, trying to keep him warm as they waited for the police to arrive.

Which happened at the same time that Sonny and Dex appeared on the scene.

"What's going on here? Where's my nephew? Ava said he needed me," Sonny came up to stand next to Trina. He frowned at the sight of Spencer, who had lapsed into silence. Tears still were streaming from his eyes as he rocked back and forth.

"He witnessed Victor getting blown up on the Haunted Star," Ava explained as Dante and Jordan appeared.

"I want the whole scene cordoned off and start the search for bodies," Jordan ordered her fellow officers as they arrived. "Trina?"

"Jordan, thank god!" Trina beckoned for the police commissioner to join them. "It's awful! Spencer witnessed everything but now...he's gone silent and…I don't know what to do and...I'm scared!"

"It's alright, Trina. It's ok. We're here to help," Jordon gently reassured the sniffling girl.

Sonny placed gentle hands on Trina's shoulders, sharing the girl's worry for his nephew. "I doubt that he had anything to do with this. Victor Cassadine had a lot of enemies."

"Of course, he didn't have anything to do with this! Spencer is not capable of such a thing! Look at him, he's traumatized!" Trina cried, wishing she could do something to help Spencer somehow. To let him know everything was going to be alright. "Can I go to him, please? He needs me near him."

Jordan just nodded her head, signaling for Sonny to let the worried girl go to her husband.

Once released, Trina ran to Spencer and protectively wrapped her arms around him. "It's okay, Spencer. I'm here. I'm here."

"He needs a lawyer," Sonny eyed Jordan warily.

"He's not under arrest, Sonny. We just need to know what he saw," Jordan crossed her arms. "Why was he here at this time of night anyway?"

"Victor called him," Trina spoke, knowing that she could answer this part. "He claimed to have some kind of evidence that Esme was faking her amnesia. So Spencer went to check it out. You know, he'd do anything to protect his brother and to make sure Esme got the justice she deserved if her memory's back."

"So he was lured here by Victor. I wonder why," Sonny stroked his chin thoughtfully. "I wonder what that old bastard was up to."

Jordan's phone went off. "What now," The police commissioner sighed before answering the call. "Yes? What? Is she okay? Alright? Do you have the culprit? Ok, we're on our way back...bring her and the mayor to the station along with the perp."

"What was that about?" Ava frowned, getting a sinking feeling.

"The mayor? Spencer's grandmother?"

"It seems that there was a break-in at the Mayor's penthouse. The man had attacked Esme Prince, trying to grab the baby away from her. He had almost succeeded until Laura knocked him out with a vase. They're on their way to the station now."

"Grandmother," Spencer seemed to come out of his fog. "Grandmother is in danger?"

"Can I trust you to get him to the station? I have a feeling that all of this is connected somehow," Jordan looked at Trina, who simply nodded her head, feeling that things were about to get even worse. What was Victor Cassadine up to? Who blew him up? Was Spencer in danger?

"Alright, I'll see you there," Jordan smiled before walking away.

"I have to get to my Grandmother," Spencer mumbled, looking at Trina with pleading eyes.

"Don't worry, we're going right to her, ok? Are you going to be alright, though? You had a big shock?" Trina asked, worried that going to the police station would be the worst thing for him.

"I'll be ok. I just need to see Grandmother and Ace...I need to know that they're safe. That whoever killed Uncle Victor hadn't gotten to them too."

"Alright," Trina had him turn around, so he was fully inside the car. She turned to Sonny, who also looked worried. "Can you call Diane? I don't think Spencer's in trouble, but after my experience...I would feel better if she was on hand."

"I'll send her right to you," Sonny nodded. "Don't worry."

"Everything will be alright, Trina. Do you need me to come with you?" Ava questioned, not wanting to leave her young friend if she needed her.

"I'll be fine. I can take care of everything now. Thank you, Ava. We appreciate this," Trina hugged her former employer, then got into the driver's seat of her car and drove off to the police station, leaving Ava to worriedly look after her while Sonny got in touch with Diane.

…..

The police station was bustling with activity. Trina held on tightly to Spencer's arm as they entered the station to find Esme sobbing with Ace safe in her arms. Laura had an arm around Esme's shoulder, trying to comfort her as Dante was yelling into the face of who Spencer recognized as one of his Uncle's henchmen.

"Ambrose?" Spencer frowned

"You know this guy?" Dante asked, turning to his cousin.

"He's one of Uncle Victor's favorite henchmen. He does everything he tells him to do," Spencer explained, frowning as he looked at Ambrose, then his eyes fell on Esme and Ace and his mind began putting things together. "Oh my god, what was Uncle Victor up to?"

"That's what we're trying to find out. Ambrose here broke into your grandmother's penthouse and tried to kidnap the baby. Your grandmother woke up in time to find him trying to wrestle the baby away from Esme and knocked him out with a vase. Now we're trying to find answers."

"What's going on? Why is my grandson here and in a state, it looks like," Laura questioned, leaving Esme's side to wrap an arm around her eldest grandson. "What is going on?"

"Obviously, Spencer has witnessed Victor getting blown up on The Haunted Star," Jordan showed back up, looking frazzled. "I need to know exactly what he was doing there and what he saw."

Spencer squeezed his eyes shut, trying to gather himself together somehow. He needed to be strong so he could get through this, but he kept feeling everything slip every time he felt he had it handled. "I don't know if I can…"

"Jordan, I think he's too traumatized right now. Can we just take him home so he can get some sleep and we can come back?" Laura asked, not liking how her grandson was looking right now.

"I am sorry, Laura, but I need to get the information while it's still fresh," Jordan apologized, hating this part of her job.

"Look, I can tell you what happened. Victor called Spencer and asked him to come to The Haunted Star. He said that he had some evidence that Esme had her memory back."

"What? But I don't, I swear!" Esme gasped, hugging Ace tight.

Trina ignored the indignant Esme and continued. "I had a feeling that I should follow him, so I did...and when I got to the parking lot of the dock...that's when I heard the explosion. I ran to the docks and found Spencer, staring in shock. He had obviously witnessed it.

"Did you see any sign of Victor?" Jordan asked.

Trina simply shook her head no.

"I saw him," Spencer closed his eyes, still feeling the vibration of the ground from the explosion and the heat of the flames. "He was on the deck of the boat...waving at me and beckoning for me to board. I was going to...but the boat exploded...taking Uncle Victor with it."

Dante glared at Ambrose, wanting to get some answers. "What was Victor up to? Why did he lure Spencer to that boat? Why did he send you to kidnap Ace? The man is most likely dead. You might as well come clean."

Ambrose looked at Dante, then Laura, and then Spencer, and groaned, realizing that all hope was lost if his boss was now dead. "Fine. He was going to take his grand nephews and leave Port Charles. He was going to search for his brother's bunkers and save the planet with his grand nephews by his side. He wanted to save his family and the world."

"But someone stopped him, obviously," Jordan looked at Spencer, who looked shocked at all of this. "Did Victor tell you anything else about his plans?"

Spencer shook his head. "No. He never told me anything. He just kept hounding me and Trina about prenuptial agreements, but he never said anything about going anywhere."

"He was going to kidnap you and Ace, obviously," Trina wrapped her arms around Spencer, glad that the old man had been stopped.

"Commissioner," another officer came up, looking hurried. "They found a body from the explosion. It's in the morgue now."

"Spencer, do you think that you can identify the body? See if it's your uncle?"

Spencer didn't want to go. He just wanted to go home with Trina and forget that this night had ever happened. But this needed to be done. He couldn't turn away. "Alright…"

"Can I go with him?" Trina asked.

"And me too?" Laura chimed in, not wanting to leave her grandson to do this on his own.

"Fine. Follow me," Jordan headed for the stairs that would take them down to the morgue.

Five minutes later, the four of them stared down at the dead body of Victor Cassadine.

"That's him. That's my uncle, Victor," Spencer nodded, looking away from the body. Trina just wrapped her arms around him in response, wishing that she could shield him from all of this.

"May he rest in hell," Laura muttered, feeling a mixture of relief and concern. Relief that the evil man was out of all of their lives forever and that his evil scheme had been stopped and concern about how all of this was going to affect Spencer, who was now clinging tightly to his wife as if she was a life jacket.

…..

Stefan hung up the phone with a satisfied smile on his face. Nicholas frowned as he recognized that smile.

"What did you do?" Nicholas asked, eyeing his Uncle warily.

"Consider Victor Cassadine forever neutralized. Now it's time to get ready to reveal ourselves and return you to your rightful place as head of this family," Stefan played with the ring that sat on his finger. He was looking forward to the days ahead. Soon, the Cassadine family will be back on top and there was no one to stand in their way.
