Reasia was in a really good mood as she entered Kelly's. The meeting with the Quartermaines went swimmingly. They were all so accepting of her. Especially the younger Quartermaines like Brooklyn and Micheal. Ned was nice, but a little distant, but she figured that was because he was basically the family patriarch. Brooklyn was so interesting since she was a songwriter. She even revealed that the singer Eddie Maine was actually Ned, much to Reasia's surprise, but delight. She was a big fan of the Eddie Maine songs. His music wasn't mainstream and wasn't current, but her mother had listened to his music all the time, and that made Reasia a fan.
Walking up to the counter, she began to think about what she was going to order for lunch. She didn't want anything too big, because she had eaten at the Quartermaine's earlier that day.
"Reasia, right?"
Reasia turned around to find the boy that Trina and Spencer had introduced her to the day before. "Yes. And you're Cameron Webber. Trina's friend?"
The boy just laughed and nodded. "That's me. I saw you enter and just thought I'd say hi."
"Oh...um...well hello," Reasia laughed. "Do you know what they have here that's quick and not too heavy?''
"Good thing I ran into you. I know all about Kelly's menu. I used to work here."
"Is that so?"
Cam nodded. "If you like, you can join me at my table. I have a menu if you want to take a look."
"I don't want to impose…"
"You're not. Trust me, I can use the company," Cam's smile was sweet and his eyes were friendly and happy. Putting Reasia at ease.
"Alright. I can't see why not," Reasia giggled, following Cam to his table and picking up a menu.
"So...you're a Quartermaine, huh?" Cam began, wanting to get to know the new member of their friend group better. He couldn't help himself, really. Reasia was pretty and interesting and by all signs, single.
"No, I'm a Ward...but I am a distant relative of the Quartermaines though."
"Ah, right. So how did it go, meeting the Quartermaines?"
Reasia's eyes lit up, making her even prettier in Cameron's eyes. "Oh, they are so interesting. Ned was once Eddie Maine! Do you know about him?"
"As someone with a music obsession, of course. But I never even thought of approaching and asking about his music career though, for some reason. You'd think I would."
"You're obsessed with music?"
"Yeah. I play the guitar and I like to sing here and there," Cam shrugged, feeling his cheeks heat up with a blush. "Nothing special."
"Why do I have a feeling that you're downplaying your skills?"
Cameron just shrugged. He had to admit, ever since Joss had dumped him for Dex, he's had a self-esteem problem about everything. It had driven Emma crazy because he just wouldn't believe her when she said that he was great at something. She had finally had enough and had stuck him back in the friend zone. He couldn't blame her really. Maybe it had been too soon for him to date again. Maybe someday, once he's healed from Joss, they could try again.
"I bet you're pretty great. I'd like to hear you play sometime," Reasia smiled.
"Maybe you will, before I have to head back to California. But anyway, back to the Quartermaines…."
"Oh yes! Ned and his wife were kind and welcoming, but who I found most interesting was Ned's daughter, Brooklyn. She's a songwriter and she works for Deception. She's so pretty, I'm surprised that she's not the face of Deception."
"Yeah, Brooklyn is pretty awesome. I haven't talked to her much...but she seems nice. I'm glad that you seem to like them," Cameron smiled, taking a glimpse of his own menu. "The chili here is really good by the way. So are the BLTs."
"Mmm, a BLT sounds delicious," Reasia smiled, her brown eyes meeting Cameron's. "Do you like BLTs?"
"I do now if I didn't before," Cameron found himself slipping, then his face grew red with embarrassment. "I mean..they're ok."
Reasia just laughed, finding his awkwardness adorable. "You really are cute. I bet your girlfriend is missing you back in California."
"I don't have a girlfriend at the moment. There was someone, but we decided to remain friends."
"Oh, that's too bad. A cute guy like you should have girls standing in line, waiting for a chance."
Cameron just laughed and shook his head. "No, I'm not that kind of guy. I'm a one-woman man."
The pair continued their conversation, finding themselves getting lost in each other's company. Neither saw Joss enter in time to see Cameron reach over and take Reasia's hand in his and look deep into her eyes. Joss frowned as she felt a stab of jealousy hit her. It didn't seem that long ago when it was her hand Cameron wanted to hold. Did she mean so little to him that he was ready to move on with the new pretty face in town? She didn't even consider that was what she had done, even before she had broken up with Cam.
"I know, the city parks put on summer concerts this time of year. I think the first one is this Saturday. Would you like to join me?" Cameron asked, his smile charming and sweet.
"That sounds like fun. I'd love to go…"
"Oh, those things are so boring. I'm surprised that Cam is even suggesting that," Joss found herself approaching the table, pulling up a chair, and sitting between them. Cam frowned, his eyes flashing with anger while Reasia looked shocked by the interruption.
"What are you doing?" Cameron glared at his former girlfriend.
"Just making conversation with our new friend here," Joss gave her friendliest smile and turned back to Reasia. "What is your name again?"
"Reasia Ward," Reasia looked at Cameron, a little freaked out by this girl's interruption.
"Oh yes! You're Trina's new friend. Trina is my BFF, as you probably know…"
"Former," Cameron stated, his voice tight with anger. "She doesn't hang out with you much anymore. Remember?"
"Oh, it was just a little spat between friends. We've made up by now!"
Unfortunately for Joss, Trina came in just in enough time to hear the last part between Cam and Joss. "Is that so, because I don't recall that," Trina crossed her arms, approaching the table. "What's going on here?"
"I think I better go," Reasia got up, her good mood gone. "Cam, call me. We'll make arrangements for that concert. Trina, call me later. Joss...it was interesting to meet you."
Joss just gave a tight smile as Reasia made her way out of the situation, leaving Cam and Trina to both glare at Joss.
"What was that?" Trina asked, not liking what she was seeing at all.
"I was just making conversation," Joss winced, not liking the fact that Trina was not even cracking a smile right now.
"No, what she was doing was inserting herself in what was a private conversation. I was just asking Reasia out when Joss came in and decided that she had the right to interrupt," Cameron spoke through gritted teeth. "Acting like she had the right after she dumped me the way she did. We're not together anymore Joss! I'm allowed to see other girls who are not you!"
"I never said you didn't…"
"Well, then what was that about? You don't even know Reasia. You just wanted to try to stake a claim that you no longer have! Do us all a favor and go find your BOYFRIEND Dex and leave me the hell alone!" Cameron got up out of his seat. His expression turned apologetic when he faced Trina. "I'm sorry that you got pulled into this Trina."
"It's not your fault," Trina waved away the apology. "I'll put in a good word for you with Reasia if you want."
"That'd be great."
"Oh my god," Joss huffed.
"If I were you right now, Joss...I would shut up," Trina glared at the stammering blond.
"Trina…"
"Really, who do you think you are? What are you doing?! Cam is no longer your boyfriend! You have no right to do what you did! I know what you're doing!" Trina glared, unaware that Spencer had come in with Ace in his arms, now standing beside Cameron as they both watched the conversation.
"No, you don't, I wasn't doing anything."
"Yes, you were, because you did it to me! That's the exact reason why we can't be best friends anymore! You have no rights to Cam! He has a right to move on with anyone he wants to! He does not need nor want your permission! You have Dex! You decided that you wanted Dex instead of Cam and now you have him! Be happy with that and leave Cam alone! Let him move on with someone else that is not you! He deserves to be happy too!"
"Trina…"
"Move on Joss! The three of us here certainly have!" Trina glared, noticing that her husband had joined the scene.
Joss opened her mouth to say something else, but no words would come out. Tears appeared in her eyes as she saw only expressions of stone from the three people she had considered her friends. She then realized that in one way or another, she had treated the three of them like dirt and now it was all catching up to her. She opened her mouth to say something else when someone burst through the doors of Kelly's that would change all their lives forever.
Maxie Jones stumbled into the restaurant, her eyes wide with excitement over this new piece of gossip.
"Esme Prince is dead!"
