Their things were nearly all packed and ready to go. Trina looked around what had been the bedroom that she and Spencer had shared. There had been some really fun times in that room...and in the bathroom...in the kitchen...and in the living room. She couldn't help but giggle and blush at the memories. She really was going to miss this house. She had felt so at home here.
The doorbell knocked her out of her trip down memory lane. Sighing, she went down to open the door to find Reasia and Cam, both looking concerned.
"Reasia and Cam? What are you two doing here?" Trina blinked in surprise.
"We came to see how you and Spencer were holding up after last night's big reveal," Cam explained.
"Yeah. We were concerned. It seems that when the Cassadines do something they do it big," Reasia chuckled.
"Yeah, that was pretty big, wasn't it?" Trina stood to the side to let her friends in.
"It sure was. I was totally shocked to see that it was Spencer's dad under the mask and his long-dead great Uncle Stefan," Cameron looked around with a frown. "Why do I see packed bags and boxes? Are you two going somewhere?"
"Um...yeah. Come, sit down. Let's enjoy this house while we still can," Trina motioned towards the couch.
"What's going on, Trina?" Cam asked, accepting the offer.
"Well, Spencer's dad came by this morning and they talked and came to an understanding, which is good because of Ace. Oh, and Ace is back with his father, by the way."
"Oh wow...how is Spencer handling that? He really bonded with that kid."
"He's not happy about being away from Ace...which is one of the reasons that we decided to take his father's offer to move into the mansion. That way, Spencer can be near Ace...and rebuild his relationship with his father, which looks like it'll happen because they're actually listening to one another now," Trina explained.
"What? You're moving into Cassadine Central? Are you crazy?" Cam stared in shock. He loved Spencer, but his family was crazy and to think of his friend surrounded by all of that…
"Yes, I am. I'm crazy about Spencer. I'd follow him to the ends of the earth. I thought you knew that by now," Trina just gave a wry smile and a small shrug.
Cam just chuckled. "I suspected, but I had hoped that you had retained a little bit of sense. But seriously, I'm happy for you, Trina. That you feel so strongly for each other. That's not something to throw away or walk away from."
"No, it's not. It's like I told Spencer. At the end of the day...he's my home. No matter where we may live."
"So...what's going to happen to this house?" Reasia asked, curious about who will live in her great-grandmother's house now.
"Well...Spencer's grandmother might rent it out...or sell it. I really don't know. I do hate leaving it. I've felt so safe and protected here," Trina sighed. "It's like I'm leaving an old friend…"
"Trina...since you won't be living here anymore...do you think that maybe...Spencer's grandmother would let me rent it?" Reasia asked, not knowing what her friend's reaction would be.
"I thought that you liked staying with the Quartermaines?"
"I do...they're great, generous people...but I don't feel like I'm at home there. I don't feel comfortable like I do here. It'd be great if she'd allow it."
"I don't see why not. It'll be sad for this place to sit empty again," Trina smiled, squeezing her friend's hand. "But it's such a big house for one person…"
"Which is why I'll be moving in with her," Cam grinned, hiding the shocked delight in Trina's eyes.
"What about Stanford?"
"Well...Stanford was nice and it gave me the break I needed from Port Charles after what had happened with Joss. It did what it was supposed to do. It healed me. It also made me realize just how much I've missed Port Charles. This town is home to me and all of my friends are here. Well, most of my friends. There's still Emma. But I need more than one friend and a group of acquaintances. I need lifelong friends and family...like you and Spencer. And now...I have a new love in Reasia," Cam smiled at Reasia, gripping her hand in his. "We have something special and I want to stay here to continue it."
Trina happily squealed and got up to hug her two friends, absolutely joyful for them. "This is so great! I knew that you two would be good together and I was right!"
"What were you right about this time, my queen?" Spencer came down the stairs, carrying his and Ace's bags.
"Cam and Reasia are a couple now and good news! Cam's staying! He's home for good!"
"Home at last, huh Townie! And with a new girl! Congrats!" Spencer had a grin of his own as he walked over to hug his cousin. "This is excellent! We need to go out to celebrate soon!"
"Which reminds me...we should call your grandmother. Re and Cam are wanting to see if they can rent this place, now that we're moving out."
Spencer's eyes widened as he came to a realization. "Oh, crap! I forgot to call Grandmother to tell her we're moving!"
"Spencer!"
"Well, everything is happening so fast! We only decided to move this morning!"
"I'll call grandma. Ask if she can come over right away. We'll kill two birds with one stone," Cam took out his phone and dialed Laura's number.
Spencer looked worried, which worried Trina.
"What's wrong?"
"Yeah, do you think she'll say no?" Reasia wondered.
"I don't know why she would. I'm just worried about what she'll say when I tell her that we'll be moving in with my father and great Uncle Stefan. She's not going to like it."
"Well, I doubt she'll blow a gasket like my dad is going to," Trina took his hand as Laura answered.
"Grandmother, hello. Can you come over? We have some news that we need to share...ok. See you in twenty minutes," Cam smiled before hanging up the phone.
Twenty minutes later, Laura was in the living room looking around at the packed bags and boxes. "Is there something going on that I should know about?"
Spencer nodded, having his grandmother take a seat on the couch. "Yes. We have news...and an offer. Father was by this morning and we had a heart-to-heart."
"Really? Oh, Spencer, that is wonderful! I do hope that things went well!"
"They did. We finally just sat down and were open with each other. We understand each other more."
"Oh, that is so wonderful! I am so relieved to hear that. Did he see Ace?"
Spencer nodded. "Yeah...in fact... Ace is with him right now."
Laura took Spencer's hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "I am sure that your father wants you to be in Ace's life as well. He's not going to cut you out."
"I know...in fact... Father wants me to move into the mansion with them. Me and Trina…"
Laura blinked in shock. She had not been expecting that. "He does, does he? What did you say? I mean...he's your father, of course, he's going to want you under the same roof, but...what about Stefan? I mean, he's no Victor...but he's...formidable."
Spencer shrugged. "I'm not sure. I guess I'm going to have to get to know him better."
"Have you made up your mind on what you want to do?"
Spencer simply nodded. "Yeah. Trina and I had talked it over and decided it'd be best if we took him up on the offer. I mean, this is all new for Ace. He doesn't know Father and Uncle Stefan. He's probably really confused right now. It'd be easier if I was there too. Plus, I can continue to work on our relationship."
Laura was concerned, but she also understood why Spencer would want to move in with his father. She just couldn't help but feel concerned for her grandson. She didn't like the possibility of him being influenced by Stefan.
"Well...I can't say that I like it, but I do understand. I'll just have to trust that Nikolas will make sure that Stefan's influence will be minimal. I just hate to see you move. It felt so good to know that this house was being lived in again."
Cam smiled, taking Reasia's hand in his. "That's where we come in Grandma, or rather Reasia. I'm just tagging along."
"What do you mean?"
"Well...Reasia has shown interest in renting the house," Trina explained, feeling that she should be the one to ask. "And Cam had expressed interest in joining her since he won't be returning to Stanford…"
"Really?" Laura's eyes lit up with joy at the thought of having Cam back home. "Oh, this is wonderful news! And of course, Reasia can move in! This house was Mary Mae's and she'd love to know that her granddaughter is living here! In fact, you don't even have to pay rent! This place was in your family and it still is! It belongs to Mary Mae and I believe that her love and spirit are still here...and she'd want you to be here. The fact that my grandson will be here too is just icing on the cake!"
"Mayor Collins, I couldn't live here rent-free, it wouldn't be right!" Reasia gasped in surprise.
Laura took Reasia's hand in hers and met the girl's gaze full-on. "I thought of Mary Mae as family. You are her family, which makes you mine as well. I didn't charge my grandson rent, so why would I charge a girl that I consider family as well? Please accept my offer."
"You won't find a deal any better than that," Spencer encouraged.
"I'd take it if I was you," Trina nodded in agreement with her husband.
"Well...I don't think I could possibly refuse, but I must insist that I do something in return…"
"How about we take care of the utilities? Water, electric…" Cam suggested.
"Yes! I like that! If you won't accept rent from us, at least let us handle the utilities," Reasia readily agreed.
"Well...alright. If you insist on it, but I am so happy to have you two move in here," Laura hugged Cam and Reasia, then she looked at Spencer and Trina who were now standing side by side, holding hands. "And you two...I want us to have Sunday dinner every Sunday. Tell Nikolas that I want him there too. I don't trust Stefan and I need to keep an eye on this family."
"Yes grandmother," Spencer nodded, understanding her concerns.
"Ok. Well, I have got to be going. I suppose that you should give the keys to the house to Reasia and Cam once you two are ready to head to the mansion. I'll call you later to see how things went," Laura made herself smile, but her worry was clear in her eyes.
"We love you, grandmother," Spencer went to hug her, wishing he could take her worries away.
"I love you too, sweetie. You take care of Trina and Ace, alright?"
"Of course," Spencer smiled.
Once Laura was gone, Spencer turned around with a grim smile. "She worries so much. I hope we're not making a mistake in doing this."
"Me too, Preppy. Me too," Trina sighed, wrapping her arms around her husband as she pushed her own worries to the back of her mind.
