Chapter 18

After their spa and makeover the girls made their way back to the Grangers. Sarah was surprised that her mother and farther were waiting for her.

"Mum, Dad I didn't think you were coming to meet me. You look like your going out."

Sarah's mother Clare was shocked her denim wearing, skateboard riding tom boy that hated makeup looked like a princess.

"We are, the Grangers have invited us out."

Susan smiled, Hermione's parents were good people.

"Oh and the Black's and Dursley's will also be there as well"

Sarah froze.

"what will I wear"

This statement had Clare internally leaping for joy, her daughter was starting to grow up. Hermione and Susan took an arm each.

"Mrs lampon could you come with us" Hermione asked.

"Kreacher" Susan called.

"Yes Miss Susie."

"Would you be able to help with fitting. I have the perfect dress for Sarah."

"Not a problem little miss."

After the football match Seamus went home with Dean, Ron could not attend. That left the three remaining boys, Dan and Sirius.

"Right lads we are heading back to Grimmauld, Dud your parents will meet us their"

Entering the house they discovered Mr Dursley sitting in the library reading a newspaper, he was wearing one of his best suits.

"Hello boys, you need to go and get ready we are taking your mums out, oh and I was told to tell you, yellow, blue and red"

Pointing to Dudley, Harry and then Neville. Harry understood straight away.

The three boys were down 30 minutes later, Dudley was in a grey suit, white shirt and yellow tie and pocket square. Harry was in a blue suit with matching tie and brown shoes. Finally Neville was wearing a black suit with red pin stripe and matching shirt and tie.

Vernon and Sirius stood

"Look at you three lady killers."

Sirius laughed Vernon's comment, the sound of the lady's descending the stairs took them all into the hall.

The three boys whistled

"We are going to have to guard these ladies carefully, we don't want anyone trying to steal them away."

Neville's comment had the ladies smiling.

"Boy if you tried I think you could talk the knickers off a nun if you wanted"

Sirius paled "please Vernon don't give my daughters boyfriend ideas."

Neville blushed as the others laughed.

Sirius and Amelia apparated the group in pairs, Harry and Dudley were last. Dudley was not expecting to arrive at the Grangers. Susan was already in Neville's arms her red dress matching his shirt and tie. Two adults that the trio didn't know were sitting in the lounge with a cup of tea chatting to Neville's parents, Alice translating her husbands hand gestures. Hermione started to walk down the stairs and Dudley started to think Harry was a lucky barstard. Until a goddess in yellow with blond hair an crystal blue eyes stepped to the top of the stairs Sarah was breathing taking. Harry had to remind him to breath. Hermione reached the bottom of the stairs, stepped to Harry and gently kissed the side of his mouth.

"Looking good handsome."

"Back at you gorgeous."

They looked to Sarah and Dudley, the young girl was standing on the bottom step biting her lip. Dudley was not moving.

"she looks like an angel." slipped between Dudley's lips.

Sarah's smile would put the brightest lumos to shame. Harry motioned for Dudley to turn and stick out his elbow. He did this and Sarah stepped down the final step taking is arm and walking into the lounge. Everyone was ready.

The meal was a resounding success Sarah's mother being a muggle born loved the mixed dynamic of the parents, ranging from muggle to pure blood, both herself and her daughter twirled around the dance floor with all the men. The dancing was magical and entertaining.

The final dance of the night was slow and sweet Dudley was gently swaying with Sarah.

"Thank you for tonight Dudley, it was magical"

"You made it magical, I need to thank Harry for setting this up."

"I tried but he said we gave him a chance to spoil Hermione. He really has a kind soul."

Dudley smiled " You have no idea, one day I will tell you how his family saved my life. Just because they could when others wouldn't."

Harry spun up to them after hearing his cousins comment.

"Now you have done it Dud, if your going to share a secret like that you are going to have to drag her into the family."

The wide smile he was wearing removed any malice. Dudley smiled back.

"I very much doubt that Sarah is going to want me as a boyfriend when she sees me in normal clothes, what I was wearing today is not me. But Sarah looks stunning tonight." Today had been spectacular for Sarah making her feel so free. All she needed was a skateboard.

Sarah grabbed his hand a dragged him over to her parents.

"Mum I'm taking Dudley to the skate park tomorrow."

Dudley stood frozen not sure what to do, he was saved by Neville.

"Mint, would it be OK if me and Suzie came along."

Sarah's Mother interrupted.

"I'm not sure your new boyfriend and his family will enjoy watching you go all Tony hawks, as you put it."

Sarah smiled and looked her Mother in the eyes.

"My boyfriend is looking forward to it. Also it will be the last time I get to see Dud and skate before the summer."

Sarah's farther had heard the boyfriend comment and was not overly happy to hear it.

"And how long have you had a boyfriend."

"Mr Lampon, sir I haven't asked Sarah yet. The first person to refer to me as her boyfriend was your lovely lady wife."

Anton Lampon looked at his beaming wife and daughter and realised he had no power in this situation.

"I see this was my little girls choice as long as it stays that way we will never have an issue."

"always sir."

The night finished soon after and a meeting time was arranged for the following day. Harry and Hermione were looking forward to spending the day in the library preparing for the end of term exams.

The following day Harry and Hermione were in the library at Grimmuld Place. First they created a study calendar to organise what time would be dedicated to each subject. Then they moved over to their first lesson to revise. Kreacher would appear at regular times with drinks and snacks. It may not have been everyone's choice as a romantic date but for these two it was perfect.

At a skate park in Kent Sarah was in her element. Dudley was amazed at his new girlfriend as she glided, jumped and flipped on her prized board. It seemed she had an extensive collection. Sue was very unstable going so far to comment that if she could have a broom she could stand on that floated a couple of inches of the ground it would be a lot different for her. Dudley being a natural athlete gave riding a reasonable go. Neville took to it like a duck to water. He claimed his need to be balanced and light footed for his Goblin battle training helped immensely.

By the end of the day three of them were aching from the exercise they were not used to. They finished the day at Sarah's House. The realisation that they new couple would not see each other until the summer was starting to set in.

Sirius arrived to collect Dudley. Susan and Neville would be using the floo at the Lampon's to return to their own homes.

He could see that Dudley and Sarah would find it difficult not being able to communicate until the summer and was happy to help.

"right before we leave I have something for you Sarah."

Sirius pulled the handset from an old muggle telephone from his pocket.

"Unfortunately Sarah this is the best we could do for you, the only person you will be able to call is Dudley. It will only work for about 15 minutes at a time and then will need to be left to cool down. I'm afraid that is the longest it will work at Hogwarts, due to the concentration of Magic. Once the magic build up has dissipated, you will be able to use it again."

The new young couple were very happy and proved it by hugging Sirius.

Dudley was taken home and everyone returned to bed. Susan returned home to find Harry and Hermione in the library, she filled her brother her best friend about her day. Hermione's eyes glazed over as a thought gripped her.

"I need to speak to Mooney again."

The girl jumped up, kissed her boyfriend and ran out of the room."

"By Mi." He called after her.

The last night was a family only night. Being a big family this consisted of the Black's, Granger's, Longbottom's and the Dursley's in Dan's favourite snooker hall. Dudley was trying to not look depressed, this was until his new girlfriend walked in and tapped him on the shoulder. The boy jumped up and spun his squealing girlfriend around.

"I guess you missed me then."

After that the night was fantastic as far as Dudley was concerned. The highlight of the night was the snooker match between Hermione and Harry, both were outstanding and yet neither seemed to want to pulverise the other. Much to their fathers disappointment. The young couple were enjoying the friendly competition rather than fighting to the death. Soon it was time to return to their own homes and prepare for the journey back to school. 10 or so weeks until exams and then home for the summer.

At the Burrow Ron Weasley was deep in thought, he had spent Easter at home and it had been as enjoyable as ever. He had snuck out a couple of times to see Daphnie. The young couple had no idea their parents were aware of this.

They met up on the train the following day. Harry and Hermione had barely sat when Ron entered.

"Harry can you do me a favour."

"Depends what you after."

The obviously nervous boy was rubbing the back of his head.

"Well if anyone asks if we met up over the holidays, could you say we did."

Harry narrowed his eyes.

"why."

"Because he was with me."

The couple turned to see the slender, blond haired, blue eyed form of Daphnie Greengrass.

Harry smiled. "No problem mate."

The door opened and Sue and Nev entered. "Found you, this lump finally turned up. I was getting tired of waiting for him."

Sue stopped when she noticed the 4 people in the compartment. This would not do. "Sarah is with the other girls, they are waiting for us. If we see Dean and Seamus we will send them along."

Hermione kissed her boyfriend and rose to her feet. Waiting in the door way the best friends turned.

"Hurry up Daph." Came from Hermione.

"yeah hurry up and kiss your boyfriend. Ride to school is girls only."

The young Slytherin could not hide her shock. Ron stepped up to her and pecked her on the lips.

"Have fun. I'll see you at school."

The three girls walked out and Ron turned to his two friends.

"Are you OK with Daph, I know she is a Slytherin but."

Ron was stopped by Harry's wand. He had no choice but to raise his hands.

"If you hurt that girl I will feed you to Nev."

Ron scowled. "I will never hurt her."

The other boys smiled.

"That is the correct answer."

Harry stowed his wand and three boys sat and chatted. Soon after the other Gryffindor boys arrived.

"Oi Weasley is it true that you pulled Greengrass."

"No, but for as long as Daphnie wants me around I will be grateful for it."

"Great there are three of you saps. What am I saying there will be less competition for us Dean."

They all laughed and got down to catching up. Finding out Sarah was with Dudley took another option away from the two single boys.

They were interrupted by the door opening. Four boys were framed by the door frame.

"Weasel Im warning you. Stay away from Greengrass, I've decided that she will be contracted to me."

Ron's face fell until he noticed his friends stand.

"I will say this once Malfoy, you can try but lay a hand on her without her permission." Harry stated.

"And we will end you." Neville finished.

Crab and Goyle made to step forward. Only to each find a wand pointing at them from Dean and Seamus.

"We have warned you before, don't threaten us. We will not react well to it."

The two thugs nodded at a growling Neville. The four boys tried not to look like they are running as they left.

Ron was in shock. Harry had to speak.

"Fuck me Nev warn me next time before you turn the Goblin on. I almost shit myself."

They all chuckled. Dean asked "What's it like knowing your sisters boyfriend is such a hard nut, if you tried the over protective brother he could own your ass."

Ron smiled "It's not Harry you have to worry about, Hermione had me on my back and that was without a her wand."

Harry and Neville nodded as the other boys looked confused. The train arrived at Hogsmeade and they joined the girls on the journey to the castle. Ten weeks until exams and fourteen weeks until the summer.

Over the next four weeks Harry could see the tension building in his girlfriend. This was brought to a head after Hermione snapped at Harry for righting too loudly, followed by an immediate apology.

"You need to relax Hermione, if you make yourself sick it won't help you."

"what if I fail, what if they kick me out?"

Harry wrapped his arms around the shaking girl.

"Come with me."

Harry led the girl to the head of Gryffindors office after knocking the two entered.

"Harry, Hermione l would ask what I could do for you but I fear it is another issue of muggle exam stress."

Hermione was shaking in Harry's arms.

"you are absolutely right Aunt Mini, I've told her not to worry but she is finding it hard believing me."

The stern witch nodded in understanding. She then turned to the very nervous girl.

"Hermione dear, I assume you are worried about end of term tests."

The young girl nodded so the Professor continued With a smile.

"In your previous schooling I believe you would have end of year tests to assess your grasp of the materials you had been taught. These are the same, nobody will be reprimanded for their performance. It is their to aid the professors in planning the year two curriculum."

Hermione began to relax.

"Now off you pop."
