Prelude

Night. Under the full moon rests the town of Ronan, Montana. Everything seemed very peaceful until…

BOOM!

From the direction of the explosion, dozens of people screamed as they ran up the street and away from the carnage. Amongst the carnage was what looked like a red, humanoid dragon with green sclera, three gold horns that curved forward (one horn on top of the head and the other two on the sides), gold fangs, three-toed feet, five-fingered claws, a pair of red wings with golden flaps, and a red tail with four gold tail spikes that pointed up dressed in white and violet. The outfit consisted of violet tights, a violet fleece jacket, white metal boots along with matching gauntlets, armor plates on the top of the wings, chest plate, white shoulderguards, a white gorget with violet lining, and a white butterfly crest at the front, and a white belt that had a violet belt buckle bearing the image of a butterfly on it. On its chest was this small, oval-shaped violet jewel with four white strands with violet strips within them, the strands resembling butterfly wings. Wielding a white katana with a violet, cone-shape plume at the hilt, he was seen fighting with five silver robots padded with orange armor with a glowing purple chest, menacing red eyes, and a cannon for a right arm as fires blazed everywhere. Dodging a couple of blasts from them, he charged at the robots and was able to cut each of them down with ease after managing to get close to them. After he does so, he tries to catch his breath as it seems he is tired, only to jump away to dodge laser fire which came from ten more robots down the street.

"Guys, I could use a little help here!" The dragon said, speaking to some sort of communicator on the hilt of his sword.

"Sorry, cap!" Said a male voice on the communicator. "Me and Trich are still busy on our end!"

"Yeah, we still got a few more Darkbots to deal with too!" Said another male voice.

"Well, get here as soon as you can! I don't think I can hold out for much longer." the dragon said before looking around. "Geez, where is he? You think a guy who's done this dozens of times would learn to get a move on in a crisis." Returning his attention to the robots, the dragon then starts to charge at them as they fire their cannons at him.

Though he tries his best to avoid the blasts, a few send the dragon flying right to the ground, making him roll down the street until he lays flat on his stomach under a large wooden sign that says "Ronan" on it.

Struggling to get up, he looked over to see robots looking at him before they started rushing toward him. Seeing this, he then tries his best to get back up to his feet, struggling to do so as he uses his sword as support. Managing to pick himself up to where he was on one knee, the dragon paused as the robots surrounded him. With robots' cannons held up at him, the dragon could only watch as the weapons charged up with purple energy to finish him. Or so he thought.

"Ten on one? Not really fair, don't you think?" Said a raspy-like voice, causing the robots and the dragon to look over behind him.

What they saw behind them was what appeared to be a cyan iguana with a black arc running down its face from the top of its head down to its chin, white fangs, three dorsal fins reaching down his back, white gills on the sides of his head, small spikes around his face, three-fingered hands, three clawed toes, and a tail with the tip of it encased in a spike made of ice. It was dressed in a black body suit covered in blue armor consisting of gauntlets, knee pads, and a chest plate. On the front of the chest plate was a gray disk-like object with a blue hourglass symbol.

"Come on, guys. People are trying to sleep." The iguana said to the robots before he gave out a yawn. "Mainly me. Seriously, couldn't you have waited until tomorrow to go on a rampage?"

"Took you long enough to get here." The dragon said to the iguana with an annoyed look on his face.

"I am truly sorry, El Dragon." Said a voice as the disk flashed blue slightly. "We would have been here sooner, but Dragonous was having a hard time deciding which form to use."

"What? Gotta pick the right alien to go with for the day." The iguana said, revealing himself as Dragonous. "Arctiguana was definitely the one to go with." In that instant, Dragonous jumped and rolled to the side a bit as he dodged three laser blasts, instantly getting back up on his hands and feet. "Hey, not cool, dudes! Not like this!" Taking a deep breath, a blue beam of light shot out of his mouth, which caused a majority of the robots to jump back while three of them were instantly trapped in ice upon being hit by the beam. Dragonous grinned before he then rushed over, climbed over the ice-entrapped robots, and jumped around where he landed beside El Dragon who was still using his sword as support. "Take five and rest up, bro. I can ice these tin cans, no sweat." Without hesitation, he rushed over to where the remaining robots were.

"Cap!" Hearing the male voice, El Dragon looked and watched as five figures landed not too far before him before running over to him.

A major of the five were dressed in silver armor which lacked helmets while one was wearing gold armor. The first three had masculine body types while the other two were feminine and had faulds resembling combat skirts. The first three that were masculine and who was the owner of the first voice heard from the communictor was a big muscular golem with green eyes and had a silver chest plate, shoulder pads, and kneepads; the second figure was a violet, human-like lizard with a masculine body and orange eyes with much the same except having armor around his abdomen instead of his knees; the third figure who was the owner of the second voice resembled that of a blue, human-like frilled lizard with cyan eyes and webbed hands along with a weapon resembling a Parrott rifle cannon on his left arm and only had armor around his forearms, chest, and shoulder; the fourth figure appeared to be a green female ninja with yellow eyes, green hair tied into a spiraling ponytail, long green claws on their fingers, a slender figure, a silver mask which was slated three ways, silver boots with high-heels, silver fingerless gloves, along with silver chest armor and pads; and the fifth figure—who was the only one dressed in gold armor which had all but the gloves like the green ninja—resembled a human-like tiger with pink stripes, a gold helmet which had holes to fit her tiger ears, and bracelets which had small claws over where they faced the back of her hands.

"Cap, you alright?" The golem asked as he helped El Dragon to his feet.

"I'm alright, Apolloid." El Dragon told him. "Just a little bruised. Those Darkbots were relentless."

"Yeah, it was the same with us." The violet lizard said. "Sorry we couldn't have gotten here sooner."

"No worries, Icedra." El Dragon said to him. "This attack seems to be greater than the last one."

"I'm guessing by the tree metal popsicles there that you-know-who finally decided to show up?" the blue lizard said, pointing a thumb at the three frozen robots.

"Yep. Got here not too long before you guys showed up." El Dragon said as they looked over as Dragonous was fighting the robots who avoided his blast earlier, managing to take down three with a flick of his tail which shot shards of ice that hit the robots in their heads and made them collapse to the ground. "He's over there fighting the last of them."

"Should we go help him?" Icedra asked.

"Nah, let him deal with this." El Dragon answered as he took his sword and flipped it around where a wave of flames flowed over the blade, his weapon turning into a staff that resembled a cane. "Considering that he took so long to help us when we needed it, he should be the one to finish the job. Besides, he said he can take care of it himself."

"But isn't he kinda milking things?" the blue lizard said as they watched Dragonous start teasing the robot to fire at him where he then dodges the blasts and makes taunting remarks. "He should be done with this by now."

"Interrupting him won't help with his attitude, Posidacus." El Dragon said to him. "And you guys shouldn't waste your energy arguing with him. I can do that for you."

"Honestly, it had taken him this long to come ready for battle?" the green ninja said with an exasperated look in her eyes. "That boy must learn not to waste so much time on trivial things."

"You're one to talk." The golem Apolloid smartly put in. "You take at least an hour before even going on a simple walk."

"Really?" the ninja said as she gave a slanted look at Apolloid. "After the task we had just completed, do you really think such remarks are necessary?"

"Hey, you set yourself up for that, sister." Apolloid replied, not losing that tone. "And you know it's true." The ninja then growled at him in anger.

"Torna, don't argue with him." El Dragon told her.

"Hey, cap." Apolloid said, getting the dragon's attention. "How come you're using our hero names? You know it's just us here, right?"

"Yeah, I know, but some people might be hanging around to witness everything." El Dragon told him. "Just taking precautions, you know?" Hearing a yawn, they all turned to the tiger as she spoke with a tired look.

"Boy, I'm feeling sleepy." The tiger said. "Can we go home now?"

"Yeah, hold on, ShockBlade." El Dragon said before he yelled out to Dragonous who was still taunting the robots and dodging their attacks. "Hey, Dragonous! Wrap this up, will you? It's pretty late and we're all pretty tired!"

"Oh, alright." Dragonous said as he then jumped and dodged a few more blasts. "Enough playing around. Time to finish you guys off with a little Heatblast!" Slamming a hand on the disk on his chest, Dragonous was engulfed in a blue flash which quickly faded away as he came down and the robots spread out in four directions to avoid the impact of his landing.

When he stood up, he was no longer the iguana but a human-like being that appeared to be made out of green crystals with two big shards sticking out of his back, blue eyes, and a tail that ended in a large, diamond-shaped crystal. He was also dressed in a sleeveless bodysuit that covered his feet and split down the middle into two colors with the right being black and the left being blue. The disk that was on his chest was now on the left pec where it would be over his heart.

"Diamondhead?" Dragonous said before he spoke out in disappointment, his voice no longer raspy but deep. "Aw, man! I wanted to melt these guys down!"

"Uh, sir?" Said the voice from before as the disk started flashing blue again. "Perhaps now's not the time to complain about the form you have?" From there, Dragonous then jumped and dodged a couple of laser blasts.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Dragonous said as he stood up and held up a fist. "Guess this will have to do." With his hand transforming into a stub of shard, he then whipped it forward where it sent shards out toward the robots who continued to fire their cannons.

With some crystal getting into their cannons, two of the robots gained looks of shock as their cannons swelled up a bit before exploding, their associates jumping back to avoid destruction. After they regained their footing, they watched as Dragonous charged out of the smoke with his arms turned into crystal blades. The robots fired upon him and he shielded himself with his arms which seemed to reflect the blasts to the side as he kept charging. Managing to close the distance, Dragonous then swung both his arms as he rushed right through the robots who stood still before they began to slide a bit backward to reveal cuts on their chest before they instantly exploded. Walking back to El Dragon and the others, Dragonous changed his arms to normal with a smug smile, the six in front of him having flat expressions.

"See? Told ya I could handle them." Dragonous said to the group, keeping his smile. He then turned around toward the sound of sirens and watched as two fire trucks came around, the firefighters coming out to get to work on the fires the robots caused. "Right on time." He then turned back to the group. "Come on, guys. Let's leave the firefighters to their job and get on home and catch some Zs." Slamming his hand on the disk, the flash happened again and he had transformed again.

What he became resembled a velociraptor with a blue face along with black lips and stripes running both under and between his blue eyes. With a black tail with five blue stripes and bulky, black claws on his three-fingered hands, he was dressed in a black bodysuit covered in blue armor consistent with chest armor which had two back fins, shoulder pads, boots that clutch onto black orbs on his feet, gauntlets, and a cone-shaped helmet.

"Yes, XLR8!" Dragonous happily said with a less deep but raspy voice before a cyan visor slid down over his face. "See ya guys back at base!" Rushing out in a blur of black and blue, Dragonous then headed off down a street intersecting with the one they were on, leaving the group of six standing there with their flat expressions for a moment before El Dragon sighed.

"Come on." El Dragon said to them as he put his staff on his back. "Let's get home." With that, El Dragon took up into the air with a single flap of his wings and hovered about a few feet off the ground before his tail spikes slowly stretched and molded together into a strand of gold which lowered down to Icedra and formed the handle of a water ski rope.

With Icedra grabbing onto the handle, wind gathered around Torna's hands before they were covered in torrents of wind which propelled her up into the air and ShockBlade's legs sparked with yellow electricity before they turned into a bolt of lightning and she took off into the air. Doing a loop in the air, the two flew toward Apolloid and Posidacus from behind, the two men jumping up and landing perfectly on the backs of the two women where they rode on them similarly to surfers. With this, the group set off into the air, El Dragon carrying Icedra by the handle as they flew out of sight as the firefighters got to work on putting out the flames caused by the battle.

Deep underground, there is a large, cavern-like space that has a metal floor, a large computer screen with a large control console that possesses a normal-sized keyboard, and elevators at the sides with a normal one to the left and five smaller ones in see-through tubes of orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. El Dragon stood in front of the five elevators clearly occupied by the other group members.

"Night, guys. See you all in the morning." El Dragon said to the five before the elevators' doors closed and they went up the tubes with each tube going a different direction after going up a yard and were soon gone from sight. "Descend." With that one word, El Dragon was surrounded by a violet light that almost instantly disappeared. In his place was a young boy with short, neatly-combed brown hair and the same tail as El Dragon dressed in a white short-sleeve shirt, red lounge shorts, a pair of green frame glasses, and a small, round violet jewel on his shirt. After he sighs in relief, the jewel gives off a slight flash as a violet wisp pops out and floats before him.

The wisp turns out to be a violet humanoid creature about four inches tall with stubby arms and legs along with a head that seemed too big for its body. It also has a purple spiral on its forehead and little butterfly wings with the lower wings each having one long tail at the tip and bearing the same spiral.

"Another night as heroes done once again." Dragonous said with him still as the creature known as XLR8, the boy turned to him as he turned some sort of dial on the badge he was wearing and a bright blue flash consumed him.

When the flash faded away, there stood a boy who looked exactly like the other present except with no glasses, his hair being scruffy, his tail being white, and he was dressed in a blue tank top and black French terry pajama shorts. On his left wrist was an item that looked like a large wristwatch with a wide black band with white edges and two blue rings which formed a grid pattern, some of which connected to this small circular button on each side facing the boy. The case resembled the object that was on Dragonous' chest. The scruffy hair boy looked over to see the spectacle boy glaring at him with a glare and his arms crossed which confuses him, the little creature having a look of concern.

"What?" the boy asked, his voice not hoarse and sounding younger than the one belonging to Dragonous.

"You cut it close back there." The spectacle boy said to him with a voice similar to his, not sounding like El Dragon.

"Oh, come on. You're not still mad about that, are you?"

"I'm not mad, Luke." The spectacle boy uncrossed his arms as he started walking to the larger elevator across from the row of five, the little floating creature following behind. "Just a little annoyed that you didn't join with the rest of the team the second we got the alert on those Darkbots."

"I'm afraid Axel is right, Lucas." Said the voice from before as the face of the watch gave off slight flashes of blue light, the scruffy hair boy lifting up his wrist to look at it. "If you had joined earlier, he wouldn't have gotten so overwhelmed."

"Exactly. Thank you, Xen-OS." Axel said.

"I still made it and it all ended the same." Said the scruffy hair boy now known as Lucas, joining Axel and walking over to the elevator with him. "We fought them, they fought us, and we all got to go home happy."

"Yeah, but that would have been done soon if you had just gone with us to fight. There also would have been less damage caused by them." Axel said to him as he entered the elevator. "Instead, you wasted time picking out your alien form just because you want to make an entrance. That's unacceptable, Luke."

"Come on, you know me." Lucas said in response as he then got into the elevator as well. "I either go big or go home."

"Yeah? Well, there are times when you can do that." Axel said to him as he then pressed a button and the elevator doors began to close. "And tonight was not one of them." After the doors closed, the elevator then started moving upwards.

Inside a darkened room, a portion of the wall split open, revealing the elevator with Axel and Lucas inside.

"Come on. It's not that big of a deal."

"Not that big of a deal?" Axel said to Lucas in response as they stepped out of the elevator. "Luke, we could've gotten finished sooner if you didn't take your time getting ready, especially since the whole town was getting destroyed."

"I still saved the town."

"We saved the town. This was a team effort, though it wasn't much of one since you didn't join me and the others until after you decided which form to go with."

"I was the one who took care of the last Darkbots!"

"Yeah, because I let you too. And I expect you to actually be ready to roll like the rest of us when duty calls."

"Hey, just because you're the leader, it doesn't mean you get to boss me around every time. I got my rights."

"Luke, this isn't a one-man show. You know as much as I do that we all must put in effort as it is our sacred duty to protect the world from evil."

"I know, I know. Geez, don't have to keep telling me that."

"I wouldn't have to if you took things seriously like the rest of us." With that, the two boys then glared at each other for a good moment before the little creature flew in between them and held each arm toward each of them.

"Alright, settle down, you two. This is no time for fighting." The little creature said to them in a calm tone. "The town is safe, so let us just go and get some sleep. We have a long day ahead of us and we all need our rest." It took a moment of silence before Axel spoke up.

"You're right, Nooroo." He said to him. "Considering what we will be doing to spend our summer vacation, we will need to get some sleep." With a yawn, Axel turned and walked over to a pair of bunk beds with a blue metal frame. "Especially after a night like tonight." Taking the bottom bed, Axel tucked himself under the covers while the little creature Nooroo flew over and tucked himself into a small box made into a bed sitting on a black nightstand with a small lamp, the boy turning his eyes to Lucas. "And I expect you to be up and ready to go in the morning, Luke."

"Yeah, yeah." After rolling his eyes, Luke then walks over and climbs up the ladder to where he then tucks himself into the top bed and pulls the gray blanket over. "Night, guys."

"Night." Axel said as he went to sleep.

"Good night." Nooroo put in as he went to sleep as well.

"Good night, Lucas." Xen-OS added as Lucas then closed his eyes and went to sleep.
