NCISherlockMoriartyGuardOwl Prompted: "Kol wanting Nik because he hasn't spend much time with him and only wants Nik to feed him his bottle or something."

Hayley takes a deep breath, holding out the pajamas. A pouting Kol, still in his towel from his bath, stands before her with narrowed eyes.

"It's time for jammies," she announces for the second time.

Kol shakes his head. "I don't want jammies!"

"You need to wear them. You'll get sick if you go to bed without clothes."

"Nuh uh! I can't get sick!"

Hayley clamps her eyes shut. "Kol."

Her son whines, stamping his foot. He's been in a mood all day. First fighting he had slipped into space. Once he accepted it, Hayley thought things would get better. Instead, he only started whining more and dragging his feet on every little thing. Hayley would've popped him a while ago if it wasn't clear he was overstimulated paired with overtired. She and Elijah had gone on a date the night before. Kol stayed up far too late with Matt playing video games. The matter was handled but taking away the system for a few days didn't stop cranky Kol.

Bath time itself was a battle. He finally got in the tub but fought being cleaned the entire way, stubbornly refusing to close his eyes when she washed out his shampoo. Then he cried because Hayley told him burning eyes was were natural consequence of disobeying. Words of comfort didn't help either.

Hayley takes a few more deep breaths before opening her eyes and presenting the pajamas again. "It's your favorite hoodie. Nice and fluffy, all tags cut off. And your sweatpants, the one with the lining."

"They're stupid," Kol grumbles.

"You can pick out another pair, but you are putting something on."

"Leave me alone !"

"Kol," Hayley looks him in the eye. He wiggles, sniffling. "I understand you are very sleepy and not feeling good. But you will stop yelling at me this minute. If you keep it up, you will spend some time in the corner before bedtime."

Kol's whining stops and big tears fall down his cheeks. He slides down the wall and rubs at his eyes. Hayley frowns, kneeling in front of him. She rubs his arm.

"Oh, my baby," she whispers. "You're so tired, aren't you?"

Kol shakes his head. "N…no."

"Your poor little body needs some sleep."

"I…I…"

Hayley pushes some hair out of his face. "What is it? Do you want Daddy?" Kol shakes his head. "You need to use your words and tell me."

Kol shakes his head once more. He stands up, his towel completely falling by his feet. Before Hayley can grab him, he vamps out of the room. She follows quickly behind him, confused when he doesn't head for his dad's study where Elijah is on a Skype call handling their business matters. Instead, she joins him in Klaus' studio.

"Nik!" Kol cries out.

He throws his arms around his brother. Klaus startles, dropping his charcoal pencil in the process. He looks down at his baby brother, frowning. Kol buries his head into his shoulder. Klaus looks up at Hayley, his face perplexed.

"He's still having a rough time?"

"He won't let me get him ready for bed. I told him to use his words about what he wanted and then he raced down here."

Klaus runs his fingers through Kol's hair. His features soften.

"You want me to get you ready?" Klaus asks. Kol nods into his shoulder. "I will. But you need to apologize to your mama. You can't give her a hard time like this."

Kol remains clung to his big brother, looking up at his mother with wide eyes. Hayley sighs. She really shouldn't let him get away with this. Even overstimulated, he needs to know boundaries and consequences.

That can be a conversation for tomorrow.

"Sorry, Mama," Kol whispers.

Hayley nods. "I know you are. We'll discuss this tomorrow. I'll be in my room, if you need me, okay?" Kol nods. "Okay then." She glances at Klaus. "I managed to brush his teeth. His pajamas are in his room. He hasn't gotten his lotion yet either or had his nighttime blood. The bottle is on his nightstand."

Klaus lifts Kol into his arms, cuddling him close. "I shall handle this, Dear Sister-In-Law."

Hayley kisses the top of Kol's head. He leans up and kisses her nose, clearly calming.

"Night night, Mama. Love you."

Hayley smiles. "I love you too, my little munchkin. Be good for your brother."

Klaus is still perplexed as he carries Kol down the hall to his room. His baby brother keeps a tight lock around his neck, head buried in his shoulder. Klaus usually sees him like this with Elijah or Hayley. He may want cuddles from Klaus or Rebekah, but never to this extreme.

The elder brother enters the room and carries Kol to the bed.

"I have to put you down to dress you." Kol whines, clinging tighter. Klaus gasps for air a bit. "Kol…you have to let go."

The little one sniffles but loosens his grip. Klaus lays him down on his bed and grabs the near empty bottle of lavender lotion from the nightstand. More will come in the morning. Caroline's introduced them to something called "Amazon". It delivers provisions on a regular basis. Even living 1,000 years without the dagger, he feels as lost as his siblings who spent time in coffins.

Klaus uncaps the bottle and squirts some on his hands. He starts on Kol's neck and gently massages down to his shoulders. The little one's squirming decreases substantially. Klaus uses the entire bottle, smiling a little as he reaches his legs. It's not often he's gotten the chance to do this since Elijah married Hayley. At one point, he acted as something of a co-parent. It's not a role he misses too much. He loves being Kol's brother…and still, he did miss this part of it.

He never got to do this with Marcellus. Bathe him when he was young, but he came to his papa as a pre-teen. Klaus did baby him a fair bit, definitely remained overprotective throughout the years. But he never needed this, what Kol did.

He and Caroline can't have more children. It's something they're okay with. Still…it's nice to be needed for a bit.

Klaus finishes up with the lotion and slides on Kol's boxers followed by his sweats. He sits him up to slide on the hoodie. Kol holds out his arms and Klaus lifts him into them.

"You just wanted Niky?" Kol nods, resting his head on his big brother's shoulder once again. "Why?"

"Never see you anymore," Kol mumbles. "Too busy. With Caroline…Marcel."

Klaus frowns. "I still have time for you, Kol."

"Last time you went 'way."

Guilt eats up at him. "You mean when Marcel came to live with us in the 1800s?"

Kol nods. "Love him more."

Klaus shakes his head, gently bouncing him a bit. "No, not true. I love you both. He's my son, but you're my baby brother. Nothing will ever change that."

"Don't leave me," Kol pleads softly, looking up at Klaus with wet eyes. "Please."

Klaus shakes his head, trying to resist his own tears. "I shall not repeat my mistakes. You have my word."

Kol nods. Klaus tilts his head up, blinking rapidly. He knows his baby brother still struggles with his past. Sometimes it's easy to forget that Kol wasn't the only one at fault for the state of their relationship back then. Klaus is just as guilty.

The little one yawns. Klaus manages to dry his eyes before grabbing the bottle. Kol latches on immediately. He keeps one hand on the bottle, the other clinging to Klaus' paint stained shirt. Klaus doesn't put him down. Rather, he adjusts himself against the pillows and sends a quick text to Caroline letting her know she'll be alone in their bed this evening.

Someone else needs him more.
