There's been a change of plans. The original goal was to wrap this up in 60k words, but the fic has taken a turn that basically demands that the story be longer. I can't see how I would wrap up this story in the next 30k words (about 10 chapters) and have it be satisfying. Either way, expect the total word count to come out to ~80k.

In addition to all of that I would also like to lay out a clear release schedule for future chapters. I have a small backlog of unreleased chapters and I will continue to work on making more. Going forward, expect to see an update to RWBY: Dasein at least once every month.

I consider these first twelve chapters to be the first act of the story. They establish the baseline state of being for the setting: what day-to-day life looks like for the main characters, the desires of those characters, and, most importantly, how they interact with each other. When I posted this fic to AO3 I had a dual relationship tag on it that sort of implied that there would be a love triangle between Weiss, Ruby, and Cinder. I don't think that tag was included on the FFN version of the fic, which was the first version ever posted anywhere. So, it must seem rather odd how I've waited so long to actually introduce Cinder into the story, right? Sure, diving head-first into love triangle bullshit is usually an ill-advised play, but isn't it silly to introduce the deuteragonist this late into the story? Well, yes and no. I wanted to get to cinder as early as the scenes with the Brothers Grimm, but there just wasn't enough time/it didn't feel like the right moment. I was also acutely concerned about the threat of her taking attention away from Weiss, my pet character and the queen of this franchise. The conflict in my heart was tearing me apart until eventually I could delay the character's appearance no longer. I guess the whole cast doesn't need to be included from the very beginning, but I'd be lying if I said I don't regret waiting so long to introduce her. ALSO, to the one guy who wants more Cardin, you're gonna get what you wish for, buddy. There's more Cardin stuff coming down the pipeline.
